About five minutes later, two of us were told to sit down, which we did. An older gentleman started my pedicure and it quickly became obvious that he either had very little experience or did not know what he was doing. He applied a gel remover solution and then began aggressively filing each of my toes with a manual nail file instead of a drill, which I've never experienced before. At first I didn't think much of it since I assumed the end result would still be fine, but he spent 10-15 minutes continuously filing my nails down. At one point, my middle toe started burning badly and I said out loud, "Sorry, that burns." He nervously nodded and just moved onto the next toe. Even now, that toe is still sensitive. After I mentioned the pain, the entire atmosphere became uncomfortable. My sister had also been told to sit down, but after 30 minutes no one had even started her pedicure yet. On top of that, there was a younger female worker sitting near us who kept looking back and forth between my sister and me while laughing obnoxiously. We have no idea what was being said, but the constant staring and laughing felt extremely rude and unprofessional. I didn't bother getting anyone's name because the service was disappointing enough that I will never return. The quality of the pedicure itself was also poor -- parts of my nails weren't even fully painted, and by the next morning the gel polish was already peeling off.

Overall, Honolulu Nail Salon offered competent service and better value than our Kaimuki experience. We were both satisfied with our pedicures and foot massages.
