Lilly's Pizza has become a regular take-out spot for me over the last few months. I absolutely love their pizza, they have vegan, vegetarian and "norm" options for good prices and great quality. I usually do delivery, and pro knowledge, they don't have a delivery service fee (but they do have limited area of delivery). I've had a few mishaps, don't get me wrong: a forgotten calzone, driver returned with the calzone but delays a dinner. And once where our order was "messed up", taking an additional hour to recook the pizza but they rewarded us with two free diet coke cans (thanks?!). But, if you're willing to wait for it, I'd definitely recommend them as a local pizza joint. I especially love the Dante's Inferno which is a chicken barbecue pizza, one time they were out of their barbecued chicken and I got the grilled chicken instead, I can no longer get anything else! I also highly recommend the Aristocrat, I can't get over those rosemary potatoes, and this one goes great as a vegan option! read more

Ordered take out and the food was delicious! But going in to pick up my order was not great. The employee was really confused and told us for about 5 minutes that they didn't have our order. We were trying to figure out if we had called the wrong pizza place or if we needed to reorder and then she figured it out. They also got our order wrong and added one of the toppings on the pizza right in front of us with their bare hands....AND we saw an employee drop a rag on the floor and still use it. And then to top it off the employee made a "That's what she said" joke to us??? Just overall weird and disappointing. Love the pizza but service needs to be improved. read more

Stopped by for lunch with a girlfriend. Service was really great and friendly- and also quick. Love that they have Gluten Free crust. Got the Sergeant Scofflaw and added spinach. Tasted fresh and delicious. Portion sizes were large as well. Only reason it's not getting 5 stars is because of the tables outside. Food was great... when we got it. Friday night order at 530, 615 pick up time at Lilly's direction, 610 arrival time and left with the two pizzas at 705... Total ticket time of 1hr 35min and I waited for 55min without any direction on when it was coming out. I like to consider myself reasonable regarding supply chain and labor challenges of running a restaurant having worked in one for three years. I also understand Friday night being super busy but this was a common theme on 11/19... I was simply one of many disgruntled folks that were attempting to pick up online orders and something was definitely off - but nothing communicated. read more

The owner of Lily's replied to my review (below), and he obviously cares a lot about making sure the quality of a customer's experience is great. It sounds like the issue we had was a one-time situation because someone didn't show up for work, but still the person who substituted for him was just terrible and should never have been put in a position to interact with customers. I've upgraded my review from one star to three stars, and we'll definitely go back there as soon as I can and hopefully everything will be great and I will give it more stars. This place is like a dive bar meets hipster pizza joint. All the pizza's are made from scratch using only local and organic ingredients including the flour used for dough (they have gf). We had great service at the counter. We picked 2 pies to share and ended up with the South of The Border (black bean salsa, roasted garlic, grilled chicken, sharp cheddar, pepper jack, yellow onions, diced jalapeños, roasted chilies, atomic sauce & cilantro) and the Buddha (extra virgin olive oil, roasted garlic, baby spinach, sharp cheddar, tomato slices, zucchini, kalamata olives, parmesan, feta & a balsamic reduction) They were both delicious! Bottom line: This place is decent. Pros: The pizza is tasty. We had the super trooper and stop in the name of love. Both were good pizzas. Also like the 15% off deal for leaving this review. Cons: The bartender wasn't very friendly or talkative. He did not seem to want to be at the bar and seemed annoyed when we asked him questions or asked him anything really. We also had to ask for our plates and eating utensils. Almost half of their beers were unavailable on tap due to CO2 issues. EDIT:the bartender was alot friendlier the longer we stayed. Dear Lilly's: We need to break up. It's not me, it's you. HOW can a place with such good pizza have such laughably horrible service!? A friend and I came in after work on a weeknight and the line was out the door apparently held up by an issue with the register. Now this isn't really their fault, but they could have at least warned us that was the issue. Instead they kept telling us "5 more minutes" over and over. We were in line for a total of 40 minutes or so. Any other restaurant and I would have just turned around and left. But I was starving for some glorious Lilly's pizza and hummus. So finally we placed our order for a slice of pizza each and a pita platter to share and sat down to wait- An hour and thirty-five minutes. Now a fourty-five minute wait for Lilly's pizza (even a slice) is totally normal (though not acceptable in the least), but AN HOUR AND THIRTY-FIVE MINUTES?! I would have stopped waiting at the 45 minute mark but I didn't want to get back in the ridiculously slow line for a refund. But finally around the hour and twenty minute mark my patience wore off and I waited in line to complain and to ask what ever happened to our simple two-topping slices of pizza and pita. Apparently they lost our order and didn't notice that we had been sitting around looking sad and hungry for so long (since their employees on the floor rarely do more than yell out names and toss down pizzas). The guy at the front assured me they could have our food out in twenty minutes and offered me a free beer or tiramisu to tide me over. I took the tiramisu . Tip: If you do come here and face the horrible service don't be afraid to complain. I've gotten free tiramisu three times from waiting ridiculous times for a slice. And like the pizza, it is quite awesome. Finally after much waiting our food came out, tossed in front of us in usual Lilly's fashion. As usually it was amazingly good (though once again our pizza came out before out pita platter which consists of all cold dips and slightly toasted bread) but I can't stomach this kind of TERRIBLE service. Number 6 in the nation for independant owned pizza shops...... HOWEVER this sinful bake house with its golden dough, saucey sauce, and cheese on everything, has almost always come with a painful price, you CANNOT COME HERE STARVINGp; I know its weird but you cant because the appatizers 8 times out of 10 will still take forever 15+ mins sometimes arriving at the same time as the food. Aside from the horrific parking situation currently afflicted upon Five Points, Lilly's remains one of my go-to lunch places in Raleigh. In my mind, the only rival to this place is Pepper's in Chapel Hill. But there is an entirely different crust-motif at work here. While Pepper's is crispy thin crust, Lilly's has a more medium, hand-tossed feel that is in many ways more aesthetically pleasing and certainly more filling. Also, Lilly's attracts the kinds of weirdos with whom I think I would very much like to be friends (of course, so does Pepper's). Lilly's lunch special is a great deal, and I can customize individual slices with the weird ingredients I tend to favor (artichoke, asparagus, and sun-dried tomatoes with chicken). They also have Newcastle on tap, which is an automatic +1 stars and -1 to saving throws against drunkenness in my book. Eat here. "I'll get a slice of the Aristocrat, Thai Bhat, Sir Walter, Dante's Inferno, and the South of the Border" - that didn't happen. Unfortunately, it's not easy or economical to buy the featured pies by the slice (50c per topping), so I ended up with a medium pie for $17, half veggie in the Aristocrat (garlic, mushrooms, sharp cheddar, and potatoes) and half of the super meaty Super Duper (pepperoni, sausage, beef, and bacon). I loved every minute and bite of the Aristocrat and well the Super Duper was worth every artery clogging, heart attack inducing meaty bite as well. Next time I'd get a thin crust because the deeper dish pizza with all that dough made for a super heavy pie, especially for a veggie pizza, well half of one, and an even heavier pizza coma. Lilly's décor is whimsically eclectic and somewhat kitschy. The History Channels American Pickers and Pawn Stars would go bananas with all the random nostalgic décor like the antique coil top refrigerator. One thing I wasn't too enthused about was the maladjusted restaurant staff. Raleigh was in the midst of a bizarre ice storm so most businesses were closed. I called ahead to make sure they were open, "Hey, just checking to see if you guys are open with the ice and all." The maladjusted staff person that answered the phone, "Um ya, our computer isn't working so I don't know how much longer we are going to be open. Sorry." Braving treacherous ice (I really wanted this pizza) and once I actually got there I think the maladjusted guy at the counter was the same maladjusted staff person on the phone. I know Lilly's can get busy, it wasn't at the time, but my 30 second shilly-shallying annoyed him, an unpleasant state in which he remained for the duration of our interaction. About that sweet crust...I liked it. I tried to order delivery to my hotel as their lovely website advertises so well that they deliver however I found out a measly 4.2 mileS is too far...what...are they walking? I digress, I ordered pick up instead...1 small sergeant scowfflaw & a small side salad with lemon vinaigrette...20 minutes they said. I hopped in the car & drove those 4.2 miles to find absolutely no designated parking but a whole lot of illegally parked vehicles..oh threre's a spot. Down the hill & around the corner and up to the counter I went...pick up please I say, $15.12 they say. I paid with nary a thank you or even enjoy your pie, strange?! Now back at the hotel...ahhh tasty. I liked the sweetness of the crust, the freshness of the tomatoes, the wealth of EVOO, generousness of basil...could have used just a wee less cheese. We usually love this place and highly recommend it to everyone that comes to town. But over the last few visits it is slowly turning into a horrible experience. We tried to order wine and we were told they can't serve wine in a different cup other than a wine glass- There are only 2 wine glasses in the whole building and they were being used. I was told we can't do side Caesar salads with our entree that comes with a side salad , we had to order regular side salad- even though it's romaine lettuce with Caesar dressing on the side like we have always gotten here. Loved this pizza spot. Before I get into the review, I'm knocking a star off because I thought it took a taaad too long for our order to get ready and the inside decor is kind of hit or miss. If you're really into the eclectic-ness of it, then you'll like it. If not, in can seem a little too hodge-podge and the smell of oil from the kitchen is a bit overpowering if your table is near the kitchen. Anyway, minor details that are easily overshadowed by the deliciousness that is Lilly's Pizza. They have a really creative menu of pizzas (and other things like salads, calzones etc.). Wish I had discovered this place sooner and not one week before moving out of North Carolina so I could've tried more pies. The crust is onnnnnn point too. We tried the Aristocrat and the Mr. Green Jeans. The medium size is perfect to split between two people. We shared two mediums between 3 hungry people and it was perfect (had a bit leftover). In hindsight, I wish I'd realized that you could just do half and half with a large pizza. Anywayyy, if potatoes on pizza is one of your favorite things to eat ever (if it's not, it should be.) then you must try the Aristocrat. I think the sweet caramelized yellow onions really seal the deal on this pie. The Mr. Green Jeans is a great vegetarian pizza; the veggies could've been cooked a little more. But you'll definitely feel less guilty eating this pizza because it felt light and not greasy from oil and cheese --essentially felt like a fresh salad on a yummy crust. This used to be one of my go to places about 6 years ago. However I've noticed about three years ago many restaurants have decided to basically cut all the expensive ingredients out of their recipes and so I have stopped eating at many restaurants I used to eat at. Today April 19th 2021, I decided to give lilies another chance because I got my covid-19 vaccination and had extra money, I spent $50 on two pizzas I ordered the Southwest Pizza one of my favorites and the Big Star Pizza another one of my favorites however the flavor is still there but on the Southwest Pizza there is hardly any chicken at all. In fact there was one piece of pizza without one nugget of chicken at all. (Hey, just pull all the chix, and call it a Veg pizza, every other piece had 2 small nuggets of chix) yes, it was that close. We ordered a cheese slice for our little girl. It was just okay. We both made the mistake of trying the gluten-free crust. It's only available in 10" and given the taste, I can only imagine it's frozen pre-made. I scraped off the toppings and ate those for lunch. The poor guy serving us accidentally gave our pita appetizer to a table that called it - honest error - there was another woman there with my name and they'd ordered the same thing and with us sitting outside where we couldn't hear, they claimed it. All of the reviews I have read and the photos I have seen here of this place matches it 100%. I was not surprised in the least with what I saw. Well what do you know.. apparently the guy across the counter follows the same principle because he said almost exactly the same thing. So I settled in to wait... and wait... and wait. Lucky I had a book. I kept wondering why it was taking more than 10 minutes until I realized that the same two staff members kept taking pizza after pizza after pizza out to the small group outside. Finally one of the staff who spent a few minutes wandering around the store and outside with a pizza wandered over and asked if I was Eric.... oh. Well. In this case sure I am. This pizza sure is cheesy. They do NOT skimp on the cheese. And I am perfectly fine with that. There was just enough sauce on the pizza that it wasn't overshadowed by the cheese. The crust... puzzled me. I wanted to instinctively say NO due to... ummm... something... but no, I liked it. I would definitely have it again. The sauce too was different. Not tangy from what I had expected from previous reviews and not as sweet as I thought it'd be. It may have just been because there were no toppings to add their own flavor to the sauce. Not the best cheese pizza I've ever had but I would definitely come here for a cheese pizza over every other pizza place I've been to in this area except for perhaps the Mushroom of the Mellow persuasion... at least until I try a cheese pizza there and make a more fair comparison. In the research triangle for a review course and found this place based on the yelp reviews. We definitely weren't disappointed. This is high-end pizza at it's best. The decor is what you might expect from a place that features naturally raised meat and organic produce (see picture of the sign). The Big Star pizza was in fact the Big Star of the evening. It includes: Pesto, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Gorgonzola, Fontina, Roasted Red Peppers & Pistachios. This usually prompted gasps from non-believers, "Nuts on Pizza" but by the end of the night, everyone was sold. The beer selection is pretty pimp with some local microbrews and old favorites. We even returned the next evening for even more pizza-love. Lilly's was one of the highlights of my trip to RTP. read more

The best pizza I've had in the triangle area since I've moved!! I've heard of Lily's and finally ordered two slices to go for lunch. The lines were long to even get take out, so if you're in a rush I wouldn't recommend coming here. When I say ordered two slices, I really mean half a pie, since the slices are huge! They were more than generous with their portion sizes. I got cheese pizza, and a slice with mushrooms and truffles on it. This pizza was delicious! The pizza tasted fresh and hot. It really made me feel it came right out of the oven. The sauce and crust has a sweet taste to it, which I am obsessed with. It was different than your normal pizza crust, and it was a pleasant change. The veggies were cooked perfectly. The seasonings and cheese had my mouth watering for more with each bite. This might be the best pizza on earth. Seriously. Lots of options for toppings, sauces, etc.. + fresh ingredients, an amazing crust, good prices (2 topping, 2 slices + drink lunch special for $7!), and flavor that no written review can do justice to makes Lilly's THE best. Kitchen staff is a bit quirky, you get to have your name yelled out your when your order is delivered, tables are sometimes not bussed the fastest or a little sticky, and the ordering process could be a bit more efficient, but it's all worth it. It's the perfect combination of big fluffy crust, a little char on the bottom, perfectly sauced, a good amount of cheese, and tasty and fresh toppings. I got pineapple and basil on my pizza and it was amazing. The 10 inch pizza is enough to completely STUFF you! The service is pretty good, decor is cool, and prices are very good. Came here at the suggestion of our Raleigh Visitor's Guide, listed as a "cheap eat" (about $10 per person). Ordered a small Corporate Greed pizza and stuffed mushrooms with two diet cokes. The pizza had cream of mushroom sauce, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, yellow onions, mozzarella, and grilled chicken. We actually asked for tomato sauce because were were hesitant about the mushroom sauce. They made it with the mushroom sauce on accident, but I loved it. Definitely fits all the ingredient on the pizza. They gave us tomato sauce on the side in case we wanted it, and it wasn't actually that good... so good thing they made the pizza the original way. Specialty pies come with free substitutions FYI. The stuffed mushrooms were baked and filled with pesto, pepper jack, bacon, and shrimp. AMAZING. I loved stuffed mushrooms and these had so much flavor! A downside was the 30-minute wait for our food, but at least the flavors and quality made it worth it. The bill came to $23, which was pretty reasonable for what we ordered. Mediocre service. Lots of people wandering around lost on a crowded Sunday and no one really help them. read more

Their are so many reviews on this place, why add more.. well, it's in my top 10 of pizza's. It was amazing. Fun atmosphere that was a great place to chill with my friends. Good selection of spirits- even though we didn't partake. Parking is probably the greatest challenge if it were a weekend. Highly recommend. It was fabulous. The Hawaiian was the best and most unique I have ever had. Great crust, tasty sauce, great canadian bacon, the cheese was the kicker that added wonderous flavor and mandarin oranges were the bomb- never saw that on a pizza but I loved it! This is my favorite place to get pizza in Raleigh. The selection of pizzas is great and everything is freshly prepared with awesome ingredients. The Super Duper is the best choice if you're a meat lover, and the meat they use is top quality. I also enjoyed the Dante's Inferno and South of the Border, which are BBQ chicken and Mexican chicken pizzas, respectively. The black bean sauce on South of the Border is awesome, and the pizza is spicy too. The Aristocrat (artichoke chicken) and Sir Walter are also great choices. The Sir Walter has roasted garlic and smoked gouda, making it the strongest flavored pizza in my opinion. The Hawaiian Punch is also good if you're looking for something a little sweeter. Overall, the pizza is great here and my favorite in Raleigh. The dough is thick and fluffy, but not too filling. The pizza dough and fresh ingredients really set Lilly's apart from the other pizza places around Raleigh. read more

Yes, Lilly's is undeniably one of the best pizza places in the triangle. Their crust is so amazing. For the quality of food they provide, I don't mind paying the $$ but they really need to work on their service. In spite of reaching there after 30 mins of ordering, the wait time is over 30 mins. By the time I got my pizza it was cold. I hope they work on this because good food without a good experience/service, it's hard to go back. read more

If you want to be treated like trash, go to Lilly's. Went in today on my birthday because my sister wanted pizza. We waited over 45 minutes for this burnt pizza. We asked for a refund because we couldn't wait any longer as we had 2 babies under 3 years with us. Of course magically, the food was ready. Mind you, about 4 others who came in after us had gotten their food. Because we asked for a refund, a man came up with a tone saying, "Do you cook?!", "Have you ever worked in a restaurant?!", "You can't tell me how long it takes!!". Of course refused to give us a refund, because the "manager wasn't there" and continued to be rude. Oh, here's the burnt pizza and dry garlic knots. Happy birthday to me. read more
