We were in between where to go for dinner and I'm so so glad we settled on this one! The place is really lively right at the end of the Burlingame ave. It has really cute outside seating and inside as well. They have lively music playing and combined with the people talking and laughing, it was a little loud but not so bad it made us want to leave. We ordered a couple different ceviches to try and an order of chicken empanadas. The ceviches were really good, although I was expecting the shrimp to be raw, they were fully cooked and a little rubbery but not too bad. The taro chips add a nice depth of flavor to the ceviche that's different than the normal tortilla chips. The empanadas were just ok. The chicken inside was a little dry. We ordered the braised short ribs and the arroz con Mariscos to share. The ribs were so tender and flavorful. The beans were top tier and the white rice was the perfect combination to cut the richness of the ribs. Omg soo good! The arroz con Mariscos was very similar to a paella. It was very rich and packed full of seafood. The flavors were really good. It was a little salty but not too bad. The servers were really nice and friendly. Very attentive. Our water was never empty and our plates didn't sit on the table for long after being done. They brought out a sparkler and a slice of tres leches cake for the birthday girl and sang. Limon is tough to "just try" because the line can be long even with reservations - but maybe we just got lucky that there wasn't a line when we went (we were prepared to go elsewhere if there was). I've been wanting lomo saltado for a while so this was the perfect opportunity. Inside was completely full, so we opted for outside "with patio heaters" but honestly, the heaters didn't really do the trick. Ordering was normal - we went for the tacu-tacu, the lomo saltado, and the short rib (AND LATER, the tres leches). The tacu-tacu is like a ball of fried rice - almost like, a burrito that's completely rice. Crispy on the outside, delicious within. It's a little pricy at $10 "for rice", but no regrets in be able to try it. The lomo saltado looked different that I remember - but it was still delicious. Limon's version is my second favorite (my favorite being in SF which is a bit of a drive) - but I was happy with the taste, the portion, and dish overall. If it's your first time at Limon or having lomo saltado, this would be the classic dish. The short rib, I remember from before - so it's cooked well and it's tender, but it's missing the "oomph" that makes a dish stand out. At the time of ordering, I do try to vary the dishes "to try more" - but I'd honestly opt for double lomo saltado's next time. (Also, as a note, the rotisserie chicken is a "trap" for me as it's nothing special and you're really better off trying something else unless you have like dietary needs. I remember this from last time and avoided ordering it - and ironically overheard another table saying "the chicken isn't that good". It could have changed honestly, but just a note so you get your moment's worth.) LASTLY, so I got my lomo saltado craving satisfied - and I'm not normally a dessert person, but I realllly wanted to try the tres leches because of what I read in other reviews. Honestly it's also my first tres leches - so we got it, and man was it great. It's like a cake that comes in a milky puddle, has tiramisu vibes, and is delicious :) I can see why others sometimes "just want to order the tres leches" to-go, and honestly I may doe the same one day. The only kinda ding for us that night was the ending service, when it got much colder (and the heaters are wimpy), and it was really hard to find someone to get the bill. We noticed other groups also "being politely frustrated" trying to pay, so I just got up and hunted someone down. Not my favorite thing to do, but it was a good 10-15min in the cold and we had plans afterwards. Very disappointed that the rotisserie chicken now only comes with 1 small side of their aji sauce. Unfortunately, when you need another side it is $2/small cup. The chicken has never been that great and has always been dry, but when you add the sauce it makes the chicken delicious. Did I say each small cup of sauce is $2!!! You almost need 1 of those small cups per piece of chicken. Also, tried the paella and it was a 3/5 since it was a little too moist. It's not called the paella so maybe I'm comparing it a traditional paella and it shouldn't. But did I tell you each extra sauce is $2!!!! It's just crazy. I had a reservation for work last week, and our group unexpectedly grew from 5 to 11 at the last minute. The staff was so accommodating and managed to seat us comfortably in the back, which was perfect since we were a bit loud. Food came out quickly, portions were decent, and everything tasted good. Service was excellent,attentive, friendly, and efficient. It was during one of those hot days and the air conditioning could not keep up. It was also our boss's birthday, and they surprised us with a sparkling candle to celebrate, which made the evening even more special. Went on a Wednesday afternoon. They had fantastic service and recommendations and made sure to check in on us for water or extra orders. We were informed the oysters were from WA and they were superb. The limon ceviche was also excellent i would advise tho if you only come for the oysters and ceviches, make sure to order something to give your palate a break from the lime (I'm not big on lime). He didn't even go over the menu, we told him we will do the happy hour menu, he barely went over it and when we asked what the items on the happy hour are and he was annoyed. 9/2/23 I had always wanted to try out Limon Rotisserie, but was always intimidated by the enormous crowd waiting to get in. I finally caved to go there with two of my high school friends. I made a reservation at 7PM for 3 people, but we still ended up waiting 30 minutes for a table. It's a super busy place with lots of people and it gets very loud. My friends and I felt like we had to shout at each other the entire dinner. Here's what we got to share: - Sangria pitcher - Half chicken with 2 sides -- yuca fries and chifa vegatables - Truffle mac and cheese - El pirata The sangria was both sour, sweet and refreshing. We started with that and the el pirata, which is a dish that consists of Peruvian scallops, shrimp, snapper; porteno leche de tigre, cancha, chocio and sweet potato. There wasn't a lot on the plate in general, but the seafood all tasted good. The truffle mac and cheese was rich and delicious. The chicken dish came out last. The chicken itself was tender and cooked well. I wish they had included more of the yuca fries because those tasted really good. The beans were pretty greasy to me. Called with a special allergy question for a friend who is deathly allergic to seafood. They said no problem, they have system in place to cook separately. Crisp outside and nicely filled. Ceviche had delicious sauce and we got version with fish, fresh and fried calamari. It was all very fresh with limited strong-fishiness flavor. Order with taro chips is extra but well worth the accompaniment Lomo Saltado beef was a large portion and also flavorful. Meat pieces were tender. The rice that came with it ended up being plain so we asked for chimichurri to add (and were charged for each sauce side) Cocktail offerings had unique flavors. Favorite one ended up being the passionfruit based one. The lychee or mescal ones were ok. Service ended up being extremely slow and this was probably close to a 3/5 experience. Server was not attentive. After being seated we didn't get water or get addressed to order anything for over 10 minutes. Then the drinks took awhile and we ordered appetizers. It was probably 30 minutes until we ordered entrees then the time it took to get the food was reasonable. I hadn't been out for dinner in Burlingame in a long time, but after having an appointment nearby, I decided to treat myself--and I'm so glad I did! I had a wonderful experience at Limon. The pricing felt very reasonable, especially considering the effort and quality put into the food. We ordered a steak medium, but it initially came out well done. When we pointed it out, the staff was incredibly kind and took it back without hesitation. The second time, it still wasn't quite right--but instead of brushing it off, they let us know they had a chef in training and wanted to make sure he got it right. They took it back a third time and even brought in their head chef to oversee the final plate. Their attention to detail and commitment to getting it right made us feel like celebrity guests. As someone who works in the service industry, I really value great service, and Limon absolutely delivered. Jose, the manager, was warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure we had an excellent experience. You can tell he takes pride in his team and leads by example. The Burlingame location is at the corner of Burlingame Avenue and California Drive. CHICHA MORADA SOUR - Good, but Mom enjoyed the LIMÓN PISCO SOUR more. This was her second cocktail and the buzz kicked in halfway through drinking this libation, even with eating. LA PODEROSA - This is one of my favourite salads even with the raisins; I'm not a fan of raisins, but I like them in this bowl of greens. Mom and I were impressed by its size and taste. The to-go version, though, seems to be a bit smaller and the small side serving of dressing is definitely not sufficient. This said, I recommend that when ordering for to-go, either get it pre-dressed or ask for extra dressing. LOMO SALTADO - Delicious! The meat is also lean which is great. ARROZ CON POLLO - Popular for their rotisserie chicken, Limon's version of this dish serves up perfectly roasted fowl that is tender and moist. The ají amarillo sauce is a nice complement. TRES LECHES - LIMÓN serves one of the best versions of this cake. I especially like that the dessert is served sitting in a little pool of sweet milk which adds to the moistness. MANGO PANNA COTTA - Nice presentation, good taste and texture. TRUFFLE MAC & CHEESE - Creamy and tasty, according to Z and V. I have never experienced being rushed and I felt this was very rude .
