The place is quite pretty. We opted for a small table outside , which is much quieter. Our waiter was a bit stiff around the collar. I suspect he is an old timer, and clearly, we are not regulars. Regardless, the food is great, and the prices are reasonable. The Food: Zucchini Cake, $15 - 4.5 Stars Menu: crispy zucchini cakes with cucumber & mint-yogurt dressing These cakes are ball shaped, deep fried, and made a healthy veggie taste naughty type of good. Very yummy. Lol Tzatziki, $9 - 5 Stars Refreshing and delicious, the tzatziki is an excellent complement to the meal. Octopus, $19 - 5 Stars I really need to stop eating octopus, but when I am in a Greek or Spanish restaurant, I am weak. Grilled octopus legs are soooo good. Their version is grilled just right, not too much char, plus they smartly removed the hardened tips (common) before serving. See photo. Lamb Shank, $34 - 5 Stars Menu: aromatic braised lamb shank with orzo & myzithra cheese The lamb meat is tender and falls off the bone. It is cooked just right. Mykonos Souvlaki, $31 - 5 Stars Menu: herbs marinated tenderloin, shallot & rosemary skewers I enjoy a tasty protein and produce meal, and this dish is perfection with tender pieces of tenderloin over a pile of veggies. It is everything I want.

One of the biggest draws is their whole Maine lobster platter, which is surprisingly affordable at around $20. More importantly, the lobsters are freshly steamed and incredibly fresh. They even have a live lobster market inside the restaurant, and if you prefer to cook at home, you can purchase fresh raw lobsters from the market for an even better value. I'm also a big fan of their fresh-shucked oysters. I paid around $4-$5 per oyster during my visit, which was well worth it for the quality. However, if you come during happy hour, they're only $1 each, making it one of the best oyster deals you'll find in the Bay Area. The crab chowder was flavorful and satisfying, while the lobster mac and cheese was loaded with generous chunks of lobster meat. Even if lobster isn't your thing, the menu offers plenty of other seafood options to choose from. There is ample seating, but parking can be challenging. The restaurant is located in a business district where many spaces are reserved, so arriving early is highly recommended. During peak hours, it's common to see a line wrapped around the block just to place an order. The service was excellent as well. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. One thing to keep in mind: this is a fresh steamed seafood spot, not a Southern-style seafood boil. Don't expect heavy seasoning or bold spice blends. Their approach is all about preserving the natural flavor and integrity of the seafood. When the seafood is this fresh, it really doesn't need much else.

Service was fine. The decor felt vintage, with cute booths and seating along the wall, but unfortunately where we were seated in the middle of the room felt less cozy, with a very strange bathroom/sewer smell that the server never acknowledged (but we could all smell it!). The food varied. Some hits were: - paella (solid, good for sharing but not too large) - sardine toasts (delicious!) - pulpo (very soft, one of the better I've had) Some misses were: - pork shoulder on toast (just felt like ham) - patatas bravas (fried okay but sauce wasn't great) Overall, the flavors had hits and misses, but the portions felt a bit small for the price. We left feeling unimpressed, it might have been an off day, so I might give it another chance!

The happy hour menu was pretty awesome as well. If you aren't interested in food but looking for a place to get drinks, the cocktails here are also on point. South San Francisco is a stones throw from where we live and even though there are some solid casual spots, we don't find too many places in this area where you can get amazing food, craft cocktails, and this kind of ambiance. With that being said we were ecstatic to discover this hidden gem. It checks all the boxes!! We ordered the Caesar salad, pozole, burger & Fries, and beef tacos from the happy hour menu. Everything was so good and I am not just saying that! The Caesar salad came served with slices of avocado. Not traditional, but absolutely delicious and nicely dressed. The burger was beautiful and juicy and cooked to perfection. It came served with those french fries that have that extra layer of crispiness.on them. I call them 'next level fries' because that's what they are. My favorite thing, hands down, were the tacos. Oh my God... the tacos!! There are a lot of great Taquerias in the Bay Area but this place can contend. I'm serious. Perfect crispy tacos that came served with this beautiful salsa verde. Truthfully we ordered so much food but the tacos were so good we got another order of them. I ordered a Paloma and it was the perfect drink to go with my tacos. This was our first and only time eating here, but this will definitely be a regular spot for us. I hope moving forward this place stays as wonderful as our experience was tonight. It's such a joy to have an experience like this that doesn't require us driving to San Mateo or San Francisco. It's about time we had places like this in this area. The staff that helped us was also wonderful. The young lady who served us was friendly and helpful with the menu, the bussers were great and there was another lady who checked in on us and helped us throughout the meal. Great service, great staff, terrific food. Please keep up the good work.

Maison Alyzée is a French fine pastry bakery café located on downtown Burlingame's main strip. Dedicated to providing customers with a Parisian escape through handcrafted elegant pastries and artisanal breads, the bake shoppe doubles as pâtisserie and boulangerie, priding itself on meticulous attention to detail. Upon entry, we were welcomed by a brightly lit and very clean venue. Ray and I were immediately drawn to the beautiful marble-topped white counter that encased a gorgeous variety of exquisite treats. The commitment to the elegance of French culture and modern creativity were evident in every luxurious pastry and cake on display. Maison Alyzée is an order-at-the-counter establishment, so we made our purchase with a friendly staff member at the register. Unfortunately, we were told that espresso drinks were no longer available that night since the staff had already begun cleaning the machines. Ok....I never understand businesses that start shutting down things before closing time. This just shows customers that team convenience of closing shop quickly takes precedence over customer experience, essentially omitting availability of items from the menu while they are still open. For this reason, I am docking a star. Luckily, they still had some cold brew available, so I ordered a Lavender Cold Brew with oat milk. Heads-up: Plant-based milks like almond and oat milk incur a $0.75 surcharge. I wish that the lavender was more like a simple syrup, so that the flavour was sweeter and less sharp. Maison Alyzée also offers a selection of breakfast, lunch, and brunch options. I definitely need to return to try one or two or a few of their ostentatious delights.

Thankfully, we didn't order any food or desserts, or coffee. While we were there, I witnessed something that was extremely concerning. A staff member came out of the kitchen wearing disposable black black gloves and walked into the restroom. Several minutes later, he came out still wearing the same gloves and immediately went to the dessert display case. He then rearranged individual desserts inside the display touching everything with the same gloves, then he grabbed a green towel from the espresso station to wipe down the glass, and even used that same towel to wipe the floor and wall around the case. Afterward, he folded the towel and placed it back on the espresso machine's frother area. Throughout all of this, he never changed his gloves after leaving the restroom. Basic food safety and hygiene practices are important for a reason, and it was unsettling to see such a lack of care. My friend and I were very relieved that we hadn't ordered any desserts or coffee. Overall, this was disappointing and left us with serious concerns about the establishment's hygiene standards.
