We've been blessed by a lot of good sandwich options in the Mission recently. The sandwiches are generous and delicious, with a lot of options. The shop has a bunch of items that we haven't been able to get easily. The macaroni salad wasn't quite to my taste, but it wasn't a quality issue, just personal preference. I had the Goodfella sandwich - managed to have just the right amount of balsamic vinegar. read more

I wanted to love this place, but the big frustration is that most of the packaged goods don't have a price on them, and there are no prices on the shelves. These are mostly specialty foods and no one expects them to be cheap, but having to take almost every item to the counter to do a price check is ridiculous, as is having to say "that's too expensive" if you just bring your selections to the register and think a price is too much. Service from staff (not owner) was great! Sandwich (tuna) was good. A little pricey at $15 but I understand food in general is higher in cost nowadays. Low rating is due to owner creating an uncomfortable dining in experience for me. Decided to give this place a chance and walked in on a weeknight. Very nice setup/decor inside. Surprised it was completely empty. No one else was dining in. Made the decision to dine in and this is where it went downhill. Was talking on my iPhone using FT speaker and the owner walks over to tell me not to talk on speaker as it bothers him. I was actually telling my fiancé on the other line what a cute place I stumbled upon and was showing him my food as well as the bar, etc. Didn't want to get into an argument with the owner so I obliged. Spent the next 20-mins eating in awkward silence fuming that I spent my hard earned money on this place only to feel restricted. So instead I listened to him train his employees, watched TV with no sound, and some interesting music playing in the background. The entire time I was there, still no customers. I understand the no speaker rule if there were other customers present and I had the volume up all the way but I didn't and again no one else was dining in. BTW no visible signs on cell phone policy so if he prefers for ppl not to talk on their phones using speaker put a sign up so customers are aware. Instead I had to abruptly end my convo with my fiancé who was calling from NY-rude! As I'm eating owner approaches me and asks how's the sandwich and how I heard about the place. Ugh seriously?! Provided curt responses b/c I didn't want to talk to him. The whole dining in experience was bad and I just wanted to leave ASAP. Staff were super nice, owner not so much. First and last time going to this place. Disappointing b/c I wanted to have the 5-star experience other Yelpers wrote about but I had the complete opposite. read more

Was visiting friends in the neighborhood and happened to walk by and was drawn in by the quaint atmosphere. Was in the mood for a traditional Italian hero so I ordered the Siciliano. It was fresh, delicious, full of meat but well balanced and quite large. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other sandwiches. read more

One of those nice little places with plenty of atmosphere where once you enter take a seat with a nice Chianti the workday, the street , the city are forgotten. Large menu at the counter and on the wall opposite plenty of quality Italian groceries if you've run out of supplies for that antipasto you are assembling for guests. The bar could hardly seem more complete and Chris, the owner found me a fabulous Chianti...not cheap, but nose to finish a really rich and sophistcated wine that "earned it's keep" I ate a meatball sandwich that I was happy to take my time with. The meat and sauce were really flavourful and the bread is just what I expect from a great Italian deli sandwich. Vegetarian food well represented also. Perfetto! read more

A friend and I went to Limoncello on 24th Street to check out their sandwiches. We both liked the ones we liked a lot. Finally tried this spot today and I know it's going to become a neighborhood favorite! Chris was extremely warm and helpful, and the sandwiches were great. This is the kind of place that scrapes out the inside of the bread in your sandwich so it can be stuffed with more delicious filling and make a balanced, delicious bite. Will be back soon! read more

I love the sandwiches here. They are really high quality fresh sandwiches. I had the Silician, which was recommended by the owner. Not only was this a great sandwich, it was quite large. Me and my partner love to sit in the back of the cafe and have a Pliney draft beer and eat our sandwich. The ambiance is lovely and they even have a back outside patio, which is also very nice. The service here is also amazing. The guy that runs the place is very nice and has an amazing array of Italian products to sell. read more

was trying to get hired on a Saturday (Aug 5th) and the workers were super welcoming. They told me to come back on Monday (Aug 7th) from 10am-2pm. Which I did, all dressed and well presented. Sadly I cannot say I had the same welcome from who I believe was running the place. I'm an 18 year old who can serve alcohol and I've had alcoholic beverage training to prove it, anyway there was a help wanted sign on the window and when I asked him about it and handed him my resume, he told me straight to my face "we're not hiring anymore". Then why have the help wanted sign up?? It felt like a super rushed interview from behind the counter,and i didnt even get a chance. I only came by to drop off my info and resume. I didn't appreciate the dishonesty, I strongly dislike sugarcoaters. read more

Sandwiches are the best in the area. I always get the Alpino sandwich. Highly recommend if you are looking for a really good deli in city!!!
