From the outside this strip mall is a little run down, but don't let this fool ya. I have personally been going here for twenty-four years, and the food has always been consistently good. I've been coming here for ages. So my family and I are regulars here so I can safely say its an ok restaurant. If you're looking for a high end Chinese place this is not the place for you. However if all you want is a bite to eat on a budget this is your place! The sesame chicken is awesome, a bit too sweet but good. Their hot wings, fried rice, fried chicken, chow mein, and egg soup are my favorites. Some of the dishes are very greasy and you sometimes feel like you're bringing spounfuls of MSG to your mouth, that's why I have not eaten here recently. I find myself craving Lims less and less, unlike when I was younger and would crave it all the time. The place is not very clean and I am guilty of having seen critters around (another reason I hardly eat there anymore). The employees are also rude most times, and I think its because they're tired of all the crap from so many years of business. Haha. ICK. My friend suggested eating here only because were were seeing Dream City church Christmas Musical 1 mile south of Lim's. NOTHING tasted worth going back for another helping. Most every thing was breaded and fried, to fill you up real fast. The soups were awful, bland and boring. Pork chops were all hard and dried up, like jerky. Chicken wings were too sour, I wish they would coat the wings in another flavor and offer that as a choice, too. Sesame chicken had a lot of pancake-like breading but the chicken inside was decently tender. French fries had the breading too. I left all the breading on my plate and ate the inside. Eggo rolls were awful too, bland and nothing but tasteless bean sprouts inside, no meat, not enough salt, and the wrapper was soggy. I did not use the red sauce you are supposed to dip it in because there was no little plastic cups for the sauce, and I did not want to make my plate and the food in it, all red, like my friend did, ladling it into my plate. I consider myself buffet queen, and this is the worst Chinese buffet I've ever been to. Service was minimal, she just removed our plates, nothing rude about that. She brought me the water I wanted with 2 thick and meaty substantial lemon wedges on the glass, like I had asked. The two lemon wedges were the best thing in the entire buffet. Price went up from the $7.25 mentioned in the reviews, to $8.50. I would not want to eat here for free. ICK. I guess I am "Chinese" and have a more discriminating tongue, but we only ate here cos he knew I liked buffets and we wanted to be in neighborhood to make sure we beat the traffic to make the church Christmas program and be on time for that. Hardly anyone in the restaurant at the sit down tables during the time we ate there, which was on a Wed at 5:30 - 6:30. Their sign outside was faded (it was red), blotchy, missing paint, and in need of a repaint, just fixing the sign would brighten this place so much more. What is it about the anonymous Chinese buffet that draws me, like a moth to a flame, knowing full well that I will be disappointed? I suppose the 2 or 3 good experiences I have had, ever, at any Chinese buffet, anywhere, have spawned within me an eternal optimism - that I will stumble into a beautiful buffet table full of home-cooked Chinese food, tasty and tasteful. In reality, it seems that 98% of Chinese buffets serve the same stock dishes, with varying levels of mediocrity. The orange chicken here was actually tasty; everything else was greasy, super salty, and, sometimes, lukewarm. There were about 8 dishes total, with the usual fried accouterments, plus the worst sushi I have ever had in my entire life. Not going to be going here anymore. Didn't feel like cooking or going out so me and the wife chose to order some take-out. I ordered 2 large boxes and thought it was awkward that the ladies dish up your food when ordering to-go. I quickly found out why. EXTREME RATION CONTROL. I asked for sesame chicken and was given literally 3 pieces. I asked for more, because this was going to be the only meat I wanted. She then put a 3-4 more pieces in the box. By the end of the bar I had a barely past half-filled box. This cost close to 10 dollars! I had accepted my fate, but then I saw another lady preparing a to-go box in which she filled it to where it almost couldn't close. Seeing this I asked the lady boxing my food if she could throw a couple hot wings into one of the box and a chicken teriyaki piece in the other. She told me, "no that's all you get". Confused. I asked why the other boxes, prepared by the other lady were so full. She told me, "you tell me you only want sesame chicken that's all you get." I then told her I wanted a refund which I was given but was treated horribly while she was giving my money back telling me I was greedy, and she didn't care if I didn't come back. Easily one of the worst experiences I've ever had as a customer. Do yourself a favor and go to Noodle and rice, the food is better and the service is spectacular! My wife and I decided to try something new tonight. That was the first mistake. Food was incredibly disgusting, and the sauces used on one dish were also used for others. Fried rice? That's a joke, I've had brown rice that had more flavor to it. I didn't even think of trying dessert, but my wife did. She got a cake style dessert and it was like biting through a sponge she said. I'm still not sure what to think of this place. It seems sketchy on the outside and on the inside. The food was decent at $7.50 a buffet plate at dinner, but it's because they don't have much of a selection. Their French fries are nothing I have seen before- good, but deep fried oddness. There are lots of reviews about the service being rude and horrible. I found the exact opposite. We went in with a 20 month old who decided about a minutes and a half in that it was time to be pissed off. At everything. Loudly. It was bad enough that if there had been people sitting around us I would have left. Luckily, the side we were on only had one other table of people who were wrapping up as we got there. Even when he was screaming maniacally, when the staff walked by, they smiled at him. They also slipped him a baloon. The buffet is small with a limited selection. Nothing was bad. The sesame chicken I got was pretty greasy, but based on other reviews of it being really good, I'm willing to chalk it up to being a bad batch due to the oil being too cool since the orange chicken was not greasy. The sweet and sour pork was very lightly coated before cooking which made it different than most places. The egg rolls and hot and sour soup were the stand outs for me. My Family and I were Regulars at Lim's for many years until 2006 while I waited for my Six Take Out orders to be Prepared I ate one cookie from the Buffet. The Owner approached me he said he was going to charge me 25 cents for the Cookie. I Couldn't believe what I was hearing, Their is no price difference between Take Out vs All you can eat Dine In.. Unbelievable RUDE right? So I came home and declared We were NEVER EVER go back again...ok well you know the saying Never say never... Yesterday evening My Husband and I decided to try again..10 years later but this time dine in...some things just don't change.. We arrived at 5:30, The Buffet was wiped out, the Kitchen staff was busy refilling the serving trays, The Staff was busy filling Take out orders from Customers who had arrived after us.. My favorite is Sesame Chicken that's as Chinese as my palate gets.... The Server would not put down the tongs for the sesame chicken so I could not even get to it, wiping out the sesame chicken for the take out orders for the customers who arrived after us.. So when she noticed me standing for the chicken she told me to move on..come back.. I let her know I would wait since Thats all I want, which was the same for the customer beside me.. After 10 minutes the New batch arrives along with more take out customers.. The server doesn't let go of the tongs again she starts to fill the Take out Customers.. My patience has had it..I told her she was ridiculously rude, she knew Myself and the customer beside me were waiting for the sesame chicken, could she please let me have the tong.. By this time while waiting the plate of fried rice was cold so I handed the plate to the sever and asked if she could please throw it away it..She became agitated and speaking loudly in Chinese to the other staff members.. The Customer beside me told her she had an attitude...I agreed.. .I joined my husband finally at the table where he had chosen a booth which was extremely warm area of the restaurant he was sweating so much the waitress noticed and suggested we move near the fans..In which we did and noticed hardly any dine in customers and you probably can guess why..To warm, not enough fans to cool the dining area.. I told my husband about the buffet incident and decided..NO MORE LIm's for us...except Lim's came back to him with a vengeance of you guessed it FOOD POISONING.... Went here the other day. It happened to be a Friday, and I noticed on the outside there was a sign saying there was sesame chicken and golden fried fish on Fridays. Jackpot! Not your typical buffet line, more like cafeteria-style, but you still serve yourself. There is a sign at the beginning of the buffet lecturing you to eat everything you take, which I didn't see until after I had gone through once and had a small mound of dry, dry, dry fried rice on my plate that I didn't touch more than twice. It really wasn't good. The hot and sour soup was also a pass. It tasted like nothing - just spicy and bland. I added some soy sauce but it didn't help. Several other items made up for this though. The sesame chicken was GOOD, still crispy somehow, and white meat, really sticky. I enjoyed it, even if it seemed more like a crispy honey chicken to me. The fried fish was also good, they had some tartar sauce at the end of the line. I liked the teryaki chicken with its sauce, and the lo mein (why are people saying it's spam? it was definitely chicken). The fries were also great, clearly homemade but good and crispy. I'll probably go back here, especially if it's on a Friday. read more

I've been going to Lim's since I was a little kid (almost 40 years) and seen many generations of the family running it come and go. They've always been kind, the food has always been the same, and I will always come back for that nostalgic feeling for as long as they are open. I still have the mother of pearl chopsticks the original owners gave me as a child. I'm homebound so I do order a lot of food online and have it delivered. I'm really getting tired of paying all of the fees and the tips and getting crappy food which is what I got from Lim's last night. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl and all it was was some chow mein with the other side of the container containing chopped up deep fried chicken that looked to be very old and it was almost impossible to eat. On top of that there's no teriyaki sauce to go with it. I called them and they could have given a crap about me not being happy. I have also loved their Hot and sour soup, but it was so salty that I couldn't eat it and I dumped it down the drain. My roommate ordered shrimp with lobster sauce and she was happy with that but the crab puffs were dry it looked like they had been cooked two or three times. My daughters friend brought a container of the sesame chicken from Lim's Chinese Buffet to the house. The wonderful smells of the chicken were too much to withstand, so I decided to have a piece. Before I knew it, my boyfriend and I finished the entire container. We are still not sure if it was the embarrassment of eating someone else's food, Or the desire to find more chicken, or both, but we were drawn to Lim's that very instant. When we got there, we found a wonderful buffet. Not only is this the best sesame ever, but the service is outstanding. There is a women behind the buffet bar who always makes sure it's stocked with new and fresh items, especially the chicken. Her voice, yelling for more chicken, is almost as enjoyable as the food.
