They have so many options to meet your needs and will work with you to customize them. We chose the private room that comfortably seated 32 guests which included use of the screen/projector, table linens, and 2 amazing hostesses. As always, the food was delicious. We decided to go try out their new brunch buffet. You can make reservations by calling them. The buffet is a good option if you like a lot of meat. It is worth the price. Some of the food was better than the others. I did learn you can ask for the items that are on the menu, but not on the buffet line. We were able to get to get chilaquiles and French toast. It was a group of seven of us. Six of us got the buffet. They also have all day happy hour prices on Saturday. The large margaritas were $10. The buffet included items like potato and egg, sausage, bacon, pancakes, Mexican rice, refried beans, enchiladas, Menudo, and posole. They will bring you fresh tortillas to your table. If you want a spicy or salsa, ask for the green salsa. The roasted salsa is good, but it is not spicy at all. Our waiter was great. He always anticipated our needs. He did a great job taking care of us. When he learned it was my dad's birthday, he got us a candle and sang. When it comes to the buffet, I don't think I would get it again as I would have enjoyed a specialty dish instead. Service was seriously lacking... we had 16 people one server, & that was with a reservation. Food ok, your regular run of the mill Mexican food. Not bad by any means but nothing to jump up & down about... most of us partook in the flauta plate, some had the beef enchiladas & green enchiladas, mole enchiladas as well, & Gordita's. Upon entering, we got sat right away. Greeting took about 10 or so minutes. We never got a server, we were served by the manager. I didn't catch his name but he ended up taking very good care of us. Definitely my FAVORITE Tex mex place in SA. Tried something different on this visit. Normally I get the cilantro chicken. I tried the chicken fajita taco salad. It was really good. Not heavy. Just right for a lunch. We also tried the cilantro chicken tacos. Those were really good. The sauce was creamy and very tasty. Of course I'll be back. Full disclosure, I knew this Lisa's back in the day when it use to be next to my Alma mater OLLU. I had so many positive memories of Lisa, her son, and how much I loved the food. Since it had been years, I didn't know if my memories would hold up. Things I didn't like... they charge for chips now if you want more. That's so ghetto. They didn't do that when it was next to OLLU. Our waitress looked stressed too and made decisions for someone at our table bringing him flour tortillas rather than ask him which he preferred. The positive? Aside from nostalgic memories, I have spent years in Houston searching for their Chile relleno. While I think you can get the same rice and beans in Houston, their main dishes are still outstanding. That Chile relleno was perfection, a perfect balance of ground beef, potatoes, and spices. That Chile relleno doesn't exist in the Houston area. We all had a pleasant time overall and everyone was generally happy with their meals. I'd go back if I was in San Antonio, but I'd probably ask for a discount on chips, cause that's pretty standard in Houston. Definitely a go to place just sad it isn't as perfect as it use to be during the days it was next to OLLU. read more

This was my second time visiting this restaurant and it was a positive experience once again. I ordered the chicken enchiladas, one with tomatillo sauce and one with poblano sauce. I substituted refried beans for charro beans which was a $.99 charge. Totally worth it. Look forward to coming back again. read more

I have been to this restaurant several times and it's always been good. The ambiance is beautiful and service is excellent. They have some very good enchiladas and drinks. The only complaint I have about this last visit was the smell. I don't know what happened but when we walked in it smelled like the toilets over flowed or something like that. I think they knew because the manager was trying to spray something to take away the smell but it didn't help. Hopefully they figure that out because it's hard to eat with that smell. We had a party of 20. The gratuity was automatically added which is common. The addition of 22% gratuity is absolutely ridiculous! Then an addition of 3.75% to use a credit card. Went this past weekend with my family, entered in with a good attitude about trying a new place but left never wanting to come back again. Due to an allergy I can't eat beans, so I order double rice and let the waitstaff know at the time of ordering. Plate comes out and has beans. I ask if they can make a new one because since the beans have touched the rest I'm not able to eat it and remind the waiter I asked for double rice. Very apologetic and takes the plate back. I'm assuming they used a new plate and brings the plate back with double rice. Start eating and I find refried bean chunks along the edge of the rice as well as the entree I ordered. So they did not even use a clean plate and just scrapped the beans off. Alert my husband as now I'm starting to get itchy and breaking out in a rash. Extremely disappointed and let this be a warning that if you state you have an allergy they dont care. Honestly wish I could give no stars read more

Beautiful place, The entrance is very welcoming friendly customer service and delicious food, chips ands salsa are complimentary they have a bar area in the entrance and private area in the back, they were understaffed but even tho service was good, reasonable prices and good variety of vegan options. I really hate to do this, especially since it was a big part of my childhood growing up, but I hope this helps someone prior to making reservations. We made reservations for a small party, total of 10 people. We started off with some waters, sodas, beers and some margaritas. Nothing really bad except for the margaritas. We did not like the first one, for whatever reason the bartender made it to taste like a cucumber. Nothing wrong with that, but my guest ordered a Patron Margarita specifically. They made a new one which was what we expected. My guest then ordered another asking for the exact same thing and once received, we got something totally different. We let them know again and they brought out yet another style margarita. He had a total of 4 and all different and the waiter kept giving us attitude each time we complained when it was clearly the bartenders fault. We survived that fiasco just to start the next one. I know that gratuity is typically added to parties of six or more, which it does state that a 18% gratuity is "SUGGESTED" but once you get your bill they force a 20% gratuity. This didn't go too well but we got over it just to find out that they then add another 4% for using your debit card/ credit card and that is not stated until after you've already paid. A forced "Tip & Charge" at almost 25% and then to ask for more gratuity is ridiculous. I really hope this help people avoid this place and hope that someone looks further into this scam. read more

This is the first of many times going to Lisa's Mexican Restaurant that I have to say it was not a good experience. 1. We waited for seating. There were two of us needing a table. 2. The waiter did not understand when I said "no meat" he directed me to the lunch menu with "enchiladas verdes", which were chicken Filled. I asked for Capirotada, and it was inedible. Too sweet, there was a short vine in the pudding, no flavor. 3. The waiter took the order and didn't return until it was time to bring the ticket. 4. I took out of town guests for dinner at Lisa's since they requested Mexican food from a "not touristy" place. Trying to be fancy and upscale til they serve you ketchup in soufflé cups. I don't mind paying for what I eat. But when you get a $15 plate that looks bland with small portions mind you the plate itself is already small just kills it for me. Ordered a Chile relleno because everything else on the menu didn't really catch my eye. I actually thought of just paying for the chips and salsa then leaving. That Chile was so damn small compared to others I've had at other restaurants. My buddy ordered a burger for the same reason. There's something in the environment here that is just not right or welcoming. Not a bad place but just feels sterile and cold. The staff are quiet and unfriendly. Not rude or bad just don't make the customer feel good. I am so glad that I didn't order a shrimp cocktail, I know I would have been disappointed. For sure not recommending or returning here. Very disappointed. I've been to Lisa's many times over the years, but something has changed & not for the better. My chicken fajita taco salad was ok except the greens was just iceberg lettuce & the little container of cheese tasted like the kind that comes in a jar. The icing on the cake though, was my friend's chicken tortilla soup, which was actually caldo with cheese & tortilla strips added (per the waitress when questioned). The worse part was that the waitress didn't care at all when told it wasn't chicken tortilla soup & wasn't good. I've had chicken tortilla soup at Lisa's many times & this was not that. I was there dining with a friend the other night. Everything was great, the service was good, the food was delicious. I had the vegan spinach enchiladas, so good. We had margaritas also. We wanted to move to bar area to continue having a few more drinks, the music that was playing was a vibe, so we decided to ask our server if it was ok to go over to bar after we paid our bill. He said yes, bar is open till 9:00. So we went to bar, it was like 8:30 or so, we get seats at bar, the bartender greeted us by rolling his eyes, first thing he said we close at nine. We both got margaritas which came with check immediately after as if he demanded for us pay right away and leave. Shortly after he shuts off TV's at bar, lowers music down, turns on lights. We felt rushed and not wanted. We were having a great experience beforehand. A few customers were at bar still, and like us they felt like they were getting kicked out. Management went by checked on us, offered if we wanted to order anything else, but at that point the damage was done, by the eye rolling bartender. Rude with an I don't care attitude. read more

Enchiladas Verdes w/jalapeño on the side: very tasty. I wish there were three enchiladas instead of two. The chicken was super juicy, they weren't shy with the chicken either. The tomatillo sauce on top of the enchiladas was also very delicious. The beans and rice were complimentary to the plate entirely. Jalapeño was grilled nicely and had the perfect amount of kick. Breakfast tacos: The bacon was crispy goodness, only given one. The eggs were fluffy, I ended up adding salt. Tortillas were a 3.5/5. Overall, if you're craving mexican food because you have no one to make it authentically at home, I would recommend coming to this place. read more

Our non profit Foundation hosted a small scholarship reception at Lisa's in June (2024). Lisa's staff was amazing in all ways! The owner's daughter was so gracious and cooperative in scheduling the event in addition to ordering the delicious food . During the reception, the staff was attentive and make sure all the guests' needs were met. I highly recommend Lisa's for an individual dinner/lunch , scheduling an event, or hanging out at the bar. read more

Enchiladas were soooo good!!! They reminded me of my grandmas cooking! And went during karaoke was such a fun time with amazing drinks! BUT it is soooo hot, hard to enjoy delicious food while sweating so much and while being indoors!! It's hard to find places we feel safe dining at, and when we popped in at Lisa's, we were comforted to know that they were taking the virus serious while still offering delicious food. As soon as we walked in, it was apparent that masks had to be worn. After our temperatures were taken, we were escorted to our table safely away from other guests. Chips and salsa were brought out with our drinks. Though the margaritas were small, they tasted delicious. The food brought out promptly and tasted great. I had their enchiladas, but I'd really like to go back and try other dishes on the menu. If you have to get out during these times, I would reccomend Lisa's. read more

Lisa's is a pleasant Tex-Mex restaurant with a solid menu, offering Kids' plates and Vegan options as well as a full bar. The seating is comfortable and has space for several large parties simultaneously. The wait staff is bilingual and very helpful. There is a bar separated from the dining area by a bead-style curtain. The dining area has a private room if needed. The food at Lisa's is always good and the service is always on point. I try to order different offerings each time I come. The puffy tacos are delicious as are the carnitas and fish tacos. Their tortilla soup is excellent and is served with rice. The margaritas complement your meal whether served frozen or on the rocks. The tortillas, rice and beans are hit or miss but all other menu options are always excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We thought the drinks were too pricey especially when since they were made from a margarita machine. We did not have good service, however food and drinks were good. We would try them again. read more
