Took a very good recommendation from one of our chef friends who vouched for this place. An excellent small eatery in the heart of Omaha. Pancakes the size of your head, hot coffee, big omelets and hash browns round out the American breakfast/brunch menu. This place is crowded and often has a line out he door on Saturdays and Sundays, especially during the college world serious. Service can get backed up at times, but as long as you are not going there for a quick in/out breakfast this place will not disappoint. Go early and enjoy a hearty breakfast. read more

Wow! Breakfast here is no joke. I had "The Titanic". A bed of perfect hash browns, two eggs, biscuits, then a chicken fried steak, then the whole deal covered in gravy. Was the best breakfast I've had in some time. My wife had a made to order omelette that she liked a lot too. The place is a little small for the crowd they draw. We went for Saturday brunch. the wait was 45 minutes. They take your phone number and text you when your table is ready. We sat in the car. Parking is a little sketchy, only street parking but we parker down the street and walked with no problem. Not sure if that would have been cool in mid January. All and all very much worth the wait, service was good, food came out hot and fast, and the price was very reasonable. Definitely will be going back. read more

Arrived at the cafe for lunch at 12:45 yesterday (a Saturday). We sat at the bar because there were no available tables, and placed our order. After about 20-25 minutes, I asked the waitress if a table had become available and she seated us in the main room. Another 20 minutes or so, I asked the waitress if our food was about up (by then it had been 45 minutes). She went to the kitchen and checked, came back and said our order was still on the spindle so hadn't even been started! My companion and I had to be at a play in about a half hour so we had to leave without eating. We were told that the cook is off on Saturdays and the kitchen is a mess. How do you run a business like that and STAY in business?!? I've been there before but won't be going back. read more

My boyfriend picked up brunch from Lisa's Radial Cafe for us today and oh my goodness, how have we never been here before?! I placed an order at 9:30am for an 11:30am pick up today for just the two of us. When the boyfriend got there, he said they were incredibly packed and running a few minutes behind on our order. No problem. The food was still hot when we ate it and it was delicious! He ordered the build your own omelet and I ordered the works breakfast. Both were hearty and filling - the kind of food that stick to your ribs. Everything was made to our specifications (i.e. - crispy bacon, ketchup on the side, etc) so I could tell they take pride in their food. None of their menu items were pretentious. They're a really great traditional breakfast place with fair prices. There was an older woman who was walking around... Not sure if this was the owner or a waitress... but she was incredibly kind, attentive and sweet to all the patrons, despite the fact that they were exceptionally busy. This woman is a sweetheart and I hope she's there when we dine in next time. Early Bird in Blackstone could take a few (dozen) notes from this place. We will definitely be back to Lisa's. I consider myself a breakfast snob. I am unabashedly critical. Lisa's Radial Cafe gets five stars from me. This quaint little place is a block away from the beautiful St. Cecelia's cathedral in Omaha. I visited on a Thursday morning and there was no waiting. The breakfast menu is small. Which is a good thing because they can focus on what they do well. I had The Raft. A layered structure of hash browns, sausage gravy and two eggs, which I ordered over easy. It was served quickly, within five minutes, and nice and hot. The hash browns were crispy the eggs perfectly done. Coffee was nice and strong. The table next to me was making good comments about their sourdough toast, so that's on my list for next time. I'm given to understand this place can be VERY busy so be prepared to wait. A couple of suggestions I'd like to make to the management: 1) I think you need to have a bit more sausage in your sausage gravy. 2) Get some better tableware. The knives and forks look like they came from a Russian army mess kit in 1943. 3) The wait staff was attentive and friendly. But, they were terribly disheveled, badly dressed and badly groomed. Tell them to shower before work, run a comb through their hair and wear clothes that fit and are appropriate for a restaurant. Seriously, take a good look at your wait staff before you let them go to work each day. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. read more

This place is SO underrated!! I went here Christmas Eve and was blown away. This little breakfast place is tucked away off the beaten path, but a total hidden gem. FOOD: Wow!!! SO good, I ordered the deluxe veggie omelette that had an assortment of veggies stuffed inside. It's hard to find an omelette with broccoli in it, and one that is also cooked through but not hard. They did a great job making this omelette. I got bread and hashbrowns on the side, the bread is alright but I would have asked for it dry next time, they had a fair amount of butter on it. The hashbrowns were shredded and cooked through really well. The majority of the table got the omelettes, my sister on the other hand got banana pancakes that she loved. The size of the pancakes was massive, about 4 pancakes combined and bigger than Humpty Dumpty. She loved them though and was thoroughly stuffed. We got the biscuits and gravy to share which tasted spectacular and hit that homestyle cooking crave we all have. 9.5/10 ATMOSPHERE: Resembled that of a small town, hole in the wall, homestyle kitchen. Cluttered with photos on the walls and knick knacks that don't make much sense, and green carpet on the floor. The place was for the food not for the aesthetics, but still had a personal touch to it. 6/10 SERVICE: LOVELY service!! Our waitress was an absolute doll. She was personable and kind, she was quick on her feet and always ready to serve us. She did a great job with a full table and just had the sweetest heart. They closed at 2:00 for Christmas Eve and we ordered at 1:55, knowing myself I wouldn't be the most chipper, kind person in the world, wanting to wrap up and get gone, but she took her time and enjoyed doing her job which was encouraging. 10/10 This is a great place for the family, for groups as well. Located off of Cumming and 40th Lisa's is a solid option. I would say it's a step up from village inn/IHOP. A classic diner vibe, with everything you would expect, solid eggs and pancakes and decent coffee. Lisa's has a great working man's special for 5$ before 8 am, so my friends and I would go to Lisa's before our first-morning class. Super fun and never busy during the weekdays. Lisa's is a solid breakfast option it probably will not blow your socks off but it definitely will not disappoint! read more

Located a block away from St. Cecilia's church, this place is a down-to-earth, no-nonsense, cozy, homey, old-style breakfast diner that serves generous portions. For reals, the restaurant rocks, it has good food, nice music, kind staff and gets the job done with savoriness without the unnecessary fanciness. There is no "curated eggs from poultry exclusively hand-fed with grains from the island of Crete". No! It has good, hearty meals that fill you up, taste awesome and make my mornings sunny. I try to eat here every time I'm in Omaha. It's a very busy spot at breakfast and parking can be a challenge. I went on Tuesday and it was a lot easier to park. I had apple stuffed French toast and it was quite good. My waitress was very efficient and welcoming. Great spot for breakfast. This place never disappoints. Today was our first time back to Lisa's since the start of the pandemic and it felt good to be back there. My husband always gets the Chorizo Skillet and it is phenomenal every time. Nice and flavorful with a kick of spice. I got the Carnitas Skillet for the first time and it was fantastic. It had big pieces of pork that were delicious. We also shared a half order of biscuits and gravy. So so good! I was so excited to dig in that I forgot to take pictures first. Another solid breakfast/brunch place with a good reputation in Omaha. Lisa's gives you a homestyle, comfort food serving, diner kind of vibe, from the decor to the staff to the food. Like any other breakfast place in the area, you're probably going to wait anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour+ depending on what time you go. Especially because Lisa's is a smaller restaurant and they have limited seating, you will probably wait awhile. However, they do have an inside waiting room with free coffee! On this particular occasion I came for breakfast and only waited about 5 minutes. Usually with only two people, the bar opens up fairly quickly so you don't have to wait for a table. I ordered the Pork Carnitas Skillet (what I normally get). The skillets are all pretty solid, but I usually get the Pork Carnitas one because they give a good amount of meat. Served on a pretty large plate is a mountain of food- hash browns topped with pork carnitas, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, cheese, two eggs, and served with two slices of toast and salsa on the side. I usually just spread the salsa on top the whole thing and ask for some Cholula hot sauce. It definitely is a hardy meal. My only complaint would be that, in my opinion, the pork should be a little more flavorful. *One thing to note is they only take cash! There is an ATM in the back, but if you don't want to pay the service fee for taking out money, bring cash beforehand read more

Saturday 11-19-2022 breakfast. Nope. From start to finish- 100% nope. Extremely long wait. Cold bland food. Tepid water for my tea. Employees looked like they wanted to be anywhere else but there. Not a peep out of anyone until we were finishing out last couple bites of food and the owner comes out to relate a story about a 'huge' line at front door when they opened. Well, if you are short staffed (a common pandemic excuse), then close part of the seating area. Only seat and serve the amount of tables your staff can handle. The story was- they only had one cook. OK, if that's the case, then, how about the servers who are wandering around with nothing to do because there's no food cooked, how about somebody go in the back and help the cook? Nonetheless, it's your restaurant you can run it how you want. We will never set foot in there again. (Even through all this, we did still tip the servers (they pool their tips here) over 50%, because it's not their fault how the restaurant is run, that's on the owner.) read more

It's been a good number of years since I've visited Lisa's radio café. I know that on Sunday mornings and Saturday mornings it can get really busy with brunchers and the benches outside quickly fill up as people wait for seating space. It's also located one block from the Omaha Cathedral so many people eat there after church (check those mass times if you want to avoid a long wait). Additionally it's also a cash only establishment but there is an ATM on site. Both the Decour and the menu are the same as I remember from a few years back. It's definitely has a family owned Café feel, The menu includes all of your diner favorites from chicken fried steak to waffles and pancakes bacon eggs hashbrowns skillets and you name it. I ordered an orange juice and the corn beef hash plate which had eggs corn beef hash and toast. I know I've ordered this before and it was really good but this time I thought the hash was a bit burnt... I didn't want to ask them to take it back so I just ate it but it was disappointing. I also noticed on the menu that there is a worker special on weekdays from 6 to 8 am there are some really great cheap breakfast options. Overall the price here is pretty cheap And they give you a good amount of food... Just kind of botched my order this time around. read more

OMG SO GOOD! My husband and I just got home from there and it was excellent. We each ordered the works for breakfast. I ordered an additional meat (bacon, plus ham) and the ham had amazing flavor. We are local and ended up there because our usual restaurant was inaccessible due to Cinco de Mayo. We are so happy that we tried it because now we have two local restaurants to support. Next time I'm going to order the chicken fried steak skillet, the guy next to me had it and it looked amazing! He said it was sooo good too. We had a hard time deciding whether to order off the menu or get one of the specials. As I said in my previous review, this is definitely a local diner where Lisa knows by name a good number of the customers, I tried the diner for breakfast last time and today was in the area and went for lunch. Not an overly large place 10 seats at the counter and 19 or so small tables. Place was pretty well filled for lunch. Couple tables open and seats at the counter. Daily specials are posted on the black board. You seat yourself. I sat at the counter. I was immediately greeted, had my drink order taken and ordered all with a minute or two. Went with the Patty Melt with a side of sweet potato fries. Patty Melt wasn't overly large, but it was filling. Very good taste and the sweet potato fries were also good. Decent price a little less than $10 which included my soft drink Oh and don't forget, this is a CASH only establishment. So no complaints that they don't take debit or credit cards. Fabulous Waffles, and the Chicken Fried Steak is Banging. Sunday is busy with the Church crowd so expect a wait. This was our first time going to Lisa's Radial Café and it has made me rethink how I have been rating breakfast restaurants, because this is the best breakfast restaurant I have been to in Omaha. This is truly a small neighborhood restaurant located about 1/2 block south of Cumming on 40th St. There is a 14-space parking lot across the street, so parking is not a problem. When you walk in, your first impression is that it is a very small place, because you see a counter with about 10 stools and a small room to your right with 4 tables. When we were seated, it was in a room, behind the one that was initially visible on the right side., it had maybe 10 more tables. I noticed that a lot of the customers seem to know the staff, which indicates repeat customers. The staff is friendly, efficient and attentive. They work as a tag team to ensure that your needs are met. I think the time between ordering and delivery of our food was the shortest time I have ever had. They also have a strong WiFi signal, which I find is becoming more important today than it was a couple of years ago. In fact, this is a new factor that I have added into my ratings. I had their Pork Carnitas skillet which consists of a pile of hash browns topped with pepper jack cheese, green peppers, onion, jalapeno, slow roasted pork and 2 eggs cooked over easy and served with salsa. It was served with two pieces of sourdough toast. The meal came out steaming hot and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I could probably have shared the meal with my wife and saved the cost of her breakfast. My wife had their Killer Cakes: 2 large buttermilk pancakes with Peanut Butter Chips, with a side of bacon (4). The pancakes cover the entire plate, approximately 10". She took 1/2 her meal home for another day. For the quantity and quality of food you get, the prices are cheap, $10 or less. They do not take credit cards, but they do have an ATM on site, so you may want to make sure to have cash if you don't want to pay the ATM fees. This is one of the best breakfast choices in Omaha, since it combines price, service and food quality. read more

Lisa's radial cafe is one of those places that's consistent. Pros- Huge servings and you ALWAYS get your moneys worth. As far as places that you get what you pay for, this is at the top. Flavor, always tastes good, I've been to Lisa's probably about 30 times in 17 years and I've yet to have something I dislike. Staff is friendly and the place is clean. Quality food that I'm always willing to pay for. Cons- sometimes the wait is long and people like to sit and talk long after their meal is finished so it makes it longer. This is a small place -- I'd call it a hidden gem -- but the word it out! Be prepared to wait on the weekends...and know that it is worth it every minute.
