Although they've been around since 1975, I only recently heard of this restaurant. The first thing I noticed is the restaurant is very clean and there's a calm aura. An older gentleman took our order and a younger woman served us...both were very friendly and checked up on us several times during our meal. We ordered 1 appie and 4 entrees between the 4 of us. All Greek entrees came with a soup and salad to start. Signature calamari: big pieces of squid with a light batter. This was great for sharing. Roast lamb: baked marinated lamb shoulder, the meat fell off the bone. There was so much flavour, I would come back just for this dish. This was a cute little spot down the road from us on Hastings. There is parking along the street right out front. We managed to come just before they had their happy hour at 4:00pm where you can choose items for the price of 10$. That made the place not as busy. The service was good. And we enjoyed our food! Visited for date night on a Saturday and it was surprisingly not busy at all. The staff were friendly and the chef even came out and greeted all the guests. They have a good selection of dishes Greek and non-Greek dishes. We tried the calamari and souvlaki. The calamari was delicious and fresh but don't expect it to have the thick breading most western restaurant calamari dishes have. The souvlaki comes with 2 skewers, tzatziki, 1/2-1/3 of a potato, rice, grilled vegetables, and a side of Greek salad. The flavours were there but the ratio of vegetables (salad + grilled veggies ) and the meat & rice is off. I'm not sure if the flavours and components of the dish were different because it was more authentic or if it was because they added their own twist. We stopped by for Christmas Eve dinner and had made reservations in advance. The restaurant was busy with a number of large groups. We managed to be seated after a short wait. Our server was apologetic at the get go that we had to wait for our menus to be dropped off. He was definitely an experienced server because he managed the rest of the dinner service well. He stopped by to take our orders and went to get our drinks right away. Appetizers and entrees all arrived within an hour of our arrival to the restaurant. Food tasted great. I recently visited this restaurant and was very pleased to find a trendy beautiful renovation had been done! This new modern look creates an inviting and bright atmosphere. It was very busy when we arrived, nearly every table full, but we were seated and attended to very quickly. The owner came over and spoke to our table personally and told us he had done the work of the reno himself and his wife had designed it. They did such an amazing job!! He was very friendly and entertaining. His personal attention towards customers really enhanced the overall experience. The food was excellent as well. We started off with the stuffed mushroom caps which were next level amazing. I ordered the New York 8oz steak with seasonal veggies, mashed potatoes, and a Caesar salad. The steak was cooked exactly as I requested, as rare as possible without being cold. My only criticism is I would've preferred if they had not sprinkled cheddar cheese on the mashed potatoes. I scraped it off, but if the menu had called it out I would've requested it be left off. Portion sizes were very generous in my opinion, as you would expect for Greek food! I enjoyed my leftovers for lunch the next day, and they were still delicious! I ordered a red wine sangria. It was only okay. One thing to mention is their online menu is outdated in terms of prices, so don't rely on it. Started out with Garlic Butter Prawns ($17) and 7oz Beef Tenderloin medium well ($36). Steak 1/5 - when you hear little billy steakhouse you would assume they are confident in their steak. I was so disappointed. The steak was not seasoned. The thickness of the steak was 1/5 inch. Usually steakhouse steak are 1-1.5 inch. I was in shock when I saw the steak. The mash potatoes are delicious though. Presentation needs more work Roast lamb - 1/5 - it was too lemony for me. Lamb wasn't season well. The potato was a bit too lemony too. I felt I was eating lemon. The rice on the side wasn't bad with onion. Onion and veggies were season well. Yesterday, my wife and I thought we would try out Little Billy's after reading glowing reviews about the establishment. We ordered the calamari to share and my wife ordered the Lobster Linguine and I ordered the Chicken Parmesan. Initially, I wanted the Roast Lamb, but it was sold out. The calamari was the only food decent. The linguine were like they resembled a collection of broken up noodles from the bottom of a pot after cooking the noodles. The sauce was watery and flavorless. My chicken parmesan was so salty that I couldn't take more than 3 pieces. The piece of chicken was like a huge salt tablet. It was disgusting. The server came and asked about our food and I informed her the saltiness of my dish. She must of informed the owner and the server was probably given the ok to offer me free dessert. We politely declined asked for the bill, paid, and we departed. We paid our $113.00 bill which included one drink each and gave a 15% tip in addition to the $113.00 to the young server as she gave acceptable service and she felt a bit embarrassed about the establishment's quality of the food. read more

This is a nice local joint which is staffed by passionate and friendly staff! Despite the name they are actually a mediterranean restaurant with excellent mediterranean fare aside from just steak. I would recommend the rib eye for steak and their escargot is also top notch. read more

We were looking for a reasonably priced steak and discovered Little Billy's Steak House. It's not your typical steak house as they offer a mix of other dishes (schnitzel, pizza and lamb). The inside has been renovated recently; everything is modern and bright now. Service is friendly and thoughtful, especially if you have young kids. Appreciate that water jugs are brought to the table. The menu consists of appetizers, soup/salad, pizza, platters, steak, seafood, lamb, Greek specialties and pasta. They also offer a $26.95 four course dinner (Monday to Thursday). Trip #1 - 2x Saganaki ($16.00) - not too heavy or rich but the cheese could have been oozier. - Greek platter ($115.00) - good enough to share between four adults. Hummus wasn't your usual; more of a thin, runny texture. Didn't get to try but was told the lamb chops were overdone. From what I sampled, calamari was lightly breaded, jumbo prawns were tasty (in a garlic butter sauce), spanakopita was homemade, ribs were tender and the souvlaki meats all solid. - Roast lamb ($31.95) - lamb shoulder was tender. Roasted potato were fantastic; perfect texture. I found the rice mushy. Seemed to be an after thought. - Chef's cut bone-in rib eye ($51.00 for 20oz) - asked for medium rare and the steak came as requested. Happy that there wasn't much bone. Nothing to write home about the fries. - Children's creamy gorgonzola mac & cheese ($10.00) - not on the menu but our waiter said they could make a kid's version. Trip #2 We came on a Monday evening (with 5:30pm reservations) to try their four course dinner special. - Virgin Shirley temple ($3.50) - Berliner weisse ($7.50) - raspberry was very subtle. - Pineapple mojito ($8.00 for 1oz) - fresh muddled mint and well balanced. - Lemon chicken rice soup - good acidity, quite lemony. - Spring salad - sauce is a light, lemon vinaigrette. A touch watery. - Pork schnitzel - mashed potatoes were tasty. Broccoli is on the firm side. Schnitzel was okay; decent portion (two pieces) but slightly dry. Needed to be dipped in the gravy sauce. - Chicken schnitzel - not much of a difference between the chicken and pork schnitzel. - Salmon - nicely done. Not overcooked. - 2x Steak and shrimp - we asked for medium rare but it came out as medium. Steak needed sauce but was a decent size (roughly 6oz). The food was very solid, although can benefit from a menu revamp. Everyone at our table agreed that the chicken livers were a bit too greasy, but the calamari was on point. Escargot was good but can use more seasoning. I had the ribs as my main, it was tender and fall off the bone, but again, It could use more seasoning or sauce. It was a bit on the dry side. Though we clearly had one main server, other people stepped in and a few times we had been asked the same question someone else had asked us. A gem in the Burnaby Heights neighborhood! Little Billy's recently opened their patio so we decided to have dinner there. They have a great selection of dishes from steak to Greek specialties to Italian. We started with their spicy calamari which was lightly fried and spiced. Our entrees were the ribeye which includes a house salad and choice of baked potato or fries and the chicken parmesan (includes a Greek salad which we substituted for a Caesar at an extra cost). The ribeye was flavourful and a good portion size (10oz) and the chicken parmesan was cooked and seasoned well and was quite filling! They are under new management. Ambiance fine, food OK but small portions, service terrible. We were there with another couple. It was fairly busy. Waiter was green as grass, ordered the wrong wine for the other couple but they didn't notice until he was gone, let it slide. Then he brought the other couple the wrong meal. About 15 minutes later the maitre d arrived to explain our meals had been sent to the wrong table or maybe never ordered, so we reordered and waited. The waiter looked like a deer in the headlights, great to get work for the brother in law to get him off your couch but seriously was completely lost from the beginning. Had just sat a group down and they hadn't ordered yet, nor did they have reservations, we were told. New Years and we can't go any where else. They asked us to sit at the bar and we could have a drink each on them. We waited (not sure if we'd get in any where else) for 2 hours. Gave them a second chance months later for my birthday. Ordered a seafood linguine, definitely marked not spicy. (No pepper beside item) it came and the first bit had my mouth on fire. I sent it back. My second meal didn't arrive until they had cleared everything else's dishes. Again, they only offered a free piece of cake for my birthday. Most restaurants would do that anyway. Even though there are quite a few restaurants in this area, this area normally doesn't get too much attention. Parking is available behind the building (a few spots), as well as along Hastings after 1800, and the side streets. The place feels quite cozy and quaint - the place has been around for decades after all. It has a nice 1980s feel. Staff are friendly, and checked on my group frequently. Having no idea what to order, my friends and I had the Greek Platter ($95). It's a pretty good sampler for most of their non-seafood dishes. This is best for 4 people, as many of the skewers had 4 chunks of meat. Ribs, prawns (2 types), lamb, lamb chops, spinach pie, chicken, calamari. Everything was fresh and crispy. My only complaint was that the potato was too raw to be eaten, but I guess they had to do this since the potato is used as a stand for the skewers. This dish also comes with a big plate of rice and potatoes, as well as 3 types of salad. Definitely worth the money. Just keep in mind that there's quite a bit of lamb in here, so this plate of awesomeness is not for those who don't like gamey stuff. read more

The fact that it's gluten-free and not as sweet is a bonus! I saw my ex-neighbor that night and they have always been eating at this restaurant as well and they don't live near. Really wanted to like this restaurant. The food is amazing but the service made me feel discriminated against. We were the only table not served by the waitress. We waited over 15minutes for water and menus to be brought to our table but instead the first interaction was being asked if we were ready to order. If we needed something, my boyfriend had to get up to look for help. At first I thought they were busy or short staffed but the service the table next to ours got amazing service from the moment they sat down. Calamari was absolutely chewy and dry and NOT edible! Chicken livers was a tiny portion, also super dry, no sauce what so ever, barely any fried onions, and a bunch of raw ones tossed on top, there was zero butter or oil on them, making them hard to swallow. Normally these were both delicious, succulent, flavorful favorites. We also had lamb, not cooked great, And saganaki which is half the size it used to be. Also when we ordered tequila that was not in stock, the manager offered us a tequila that we would "really enjoy " instead..... he ended up charging us for it, and it was 25 bucks a shot instead of the 10 we were planning on getting!! Super unprofessional and misleading. Just glad the guy didn't stand around all night and talk to us as he seemed to be with all the other folks. My party opted out the ice cream for their cakes. This is a great place to take both your family and a date to- the atmosphere is very casual. Not pictured, the 4 course menu came with soup and salad. The soup was a light, sour vegetable(?) soup with rice. Second was their salad, which had nuts and cranberries sprinkled over some lightly dressed mixed greens. Trying a bit of all the dishes, I enjoyed the Chicken Oscar the best. The rich and creamy bearnaise sauce paired with the juicy chicken and light scallops/shrimp was a heavenly combination. I ordered the chicken schnitzel and it was breaded and fried to perfection- juicy on the inside yet light and crispy on the outside. Because the outside is only breaded with Italian breadcrumbs, my only complaint is that one of the components either the breadcrumbs or gravy, aren't salty/flavourful enough. The rich gravy overpowered the taste of peppercorn. Steak and lobster is what I usually order- it's such a steal and my steak is always cooked to a perfect medium rare. Not sure what cut the steak is- I should have asked. It's thin compared to full priced steaks, so keep that in mind. I'm just in it for the combo. Lobster is still in-shell and pairs very well with the garlic oil/butter. I only tried one piece of the souvlaki, so I can't be a good judge on the entire dish. The chicken had such a nice smoky flavour, and it was again, incredibly juicy. I seldom eat barbecue but If I knew barbecue tasted like this, I'd eat it every day. Their mashed potatoes are to die for, they're full of flavour and amazingly creamy. I wish I could just grab an entire tub of mashed potatoes from Little Billy's... Call of the void calls for dessert. Despite such a filling dinner, their desserts are irresistible. Also impossible to eat alone. I dream of the high five (chocolate) cake sometimes... When Harry and his staff managed the kitchen and his wife Irma and her staff managed the restaurant and bar it was a smooth flawless 5 out of 5 star operation of skill and dedication. The customers visiting Little Billy's were happy and glad to come. Since Harry and Irma retired from running their operations the quality and ingredients of the dishes has gone down and the price has gone up. The server stated to a co-worker "well she didn't know what the order was so it's not my fault" - IN FRONT of my sister. Of course she didn't know the order, she had simply offered to pick it up, that is why her name was provided to attach to the order. I waited one week before I decided to write this review, as in the past I really liked Little Billy's. We made 7 pm reservations for five of us to celebrate my sons birthday. After arriving, we waited close to 10 minutes without even a look from any of the staff, and who knows how much longer we would have waited if I didn't call them over myself. Without us asking to start with a glass of cold water, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have been asked. After we ordered the appetizers and salads, they were served in good time and were tasty. However service went back into neglect mode, waiting a fair bit of time before we decided to pile the finished dishes up ourselves, hint, hint for the staff to take them away. Now for the main course, the chicken souvlaki and prawn dishes were good. The moussaka was the greasiest dish my wife had ever tried to eat. And the two high priced bone in steaks that my son and I asked for medium came as one very well done and one raw inside. I choked mine down and my son asked for his to be cooked a bit more. It was then we noticed the cook come out of the kitchen and sit down at the bar. His night was done. Pretty sure that the steak that came back out of the kitchen was microwaved to a jerky like state by the waitress. The cook sitting at the bar couldn't care less. We were very disappointed, and hope Little Billy's reads this. Gets there act together and gives better service and food to there customers. We will not go back. care less. read more
