I will not waste much time on this review - they suck. Stopped in for the first time when we moved to the area Nov 1st, food was ok, service beyond slow, price fair I guess for a greasy spoon joint. Not organized when seating or taking names, heard a few people complaining. 2nd time (last Sunday) we waited 15 mins to be seated on a less than crowded part of the day, when seats were obviously available. After 10 mins of waiting for our orders to be taken we reached out to a server and she said rudely "I am not your server! Someone will come over, we are really busy." I pass by this place often and finally decided to stop in for breakfast. I am glad I did. The counter was basically empty when I first walked in. I was not sure if I should just sit at the counter or wait to be seated so I asked. I guess it was fine, the girl seemed to nod at me and smile, but I sat at the counter, turned up my coffee cup and waited. I waited some more and two college couples sat on either side of me and started chatting away. The place was getting packed again and I guess there was some confusion as the waitress took the couple to my right's order. Ok now I am a bit miffed, but hey what are you going to do. It is about 1 PM or so and I do still look like I rolled out of bed and all, but hey, I did sit down first and my coffee cup is upright and ready to be filled. You know, diner style stuff. I forget the details here, but another waitress got me a menu and a cup of coffee on double time. I appreciated that. I put my order in for an cheddar and sausage omelet, with hash browns, and wheat toast. First, the coffee was great. My cup was kept filled and that rocks. Great coffee. Metropolis perhaps?? I would hope so since it is right around the corner, but whatever it is it was right on. The food was a bit above average. I mean this is not Lume's or Walker Brother's, but this is a good Greek style breakfast spot. I was pleased with the omelet and woofed it down like I hadn't eaten in a week. The toast was well buttered and a decent wheat bread. Satiated and caffeinated. I asked for a cup of coffee to go and was given a smallish, but adequate to go cup. A neighborhood breakfast place with decent renditions of standard fare. I was exploring my brother's neighborhood (without my brother, oddly enough) and we ended up sitting down here for breakfast. I ordered a grilled cheese with bananas for my daughter, and a vegetarian skillet over hash browns for myself. My wife had a bacon chicken sandwich with fries, which she said she liked. Nothing here really stands out... which might be your kind of thing! My skillet had great eggs and well-cooked veggies but was very underseasoned on top (which is why, I suppose, the hot sauce bottles were easily within reach.) The hash browns' largest liability was that they weren't crunchy... at all. I thought that was one of the requirements of hash browns? On the bright side, the grilled cheese was nice and toasty. And the bananas were sliced nice! The meal set the three of us back about $30 including tip, which seems pricey, or I just don't know how much food is supposed to cost in the city. I think that everyone who works here takes happy pills because they were just so upbeat and friendly. The service was super fast and attentive; however I thought that the food was alright. Well actually, the cream of chicken soup I had was amazing. I devoured my bowl of soup within a few minutes. My gyros, on the other hand, was mediocre. The meat was the preformed type of gyros meat that are shaped into strips, not the chunky type you find at other gyros places. I have it for leftovers and I'm not too excited to finish it....but I will because wasting food sucks! I will probably be back though if I am in the mood for a quick diner meal. The food isn't stellar- I could probably cook most of the dishes to be tastier myself- but sometimes you just need the convenience and comfort of going out for a quick bite. I have been a regular at this restaurant for at least a year now and I can go every weekend (sometimes twice every weekend) and still not be tired of it. Most weekends I wake up craving something from this place :) You can't beat the prices here, breakfast or lunch has always been less than $25 for two people. The menu is pretty big (in my opinion) and they always have a couple new specials whenever I come in. I love the combo options, e.g some breakfast entrees come with eggs and hash browns AND pancakes, and you can get pancakes or French toast with eggs and bacon/sausage for only $2 more. Today I got the French toast breakfast special with 2 eggs sunny side up and bacon. I got the short stack which was 4 pieces, plenty for me. Everything tasted great I just wish the French toast was a little crispier. They weren't skimpy on the bacon which I appreciate. I hate when a side of bacon = only 2 strips of bacon! read more

I adore this place. Sometimes thinking of Little Corner is my motivation to get out of bed in the morning and start the day the right way: that is, by stoping at this cute diner at the corner of broadway and thorndale. Let me start off by saying that their coffee is phenomonal....best coffee I've ever had in my life, and bottomless at that. After a few months of eating here fairly often, it dawned on my to get the coffee to go, which at $2 a cup, can't be beat. I've only tried the breakfast menu at little corner, but it's so good that I haven't felt the need to try anything else there! I have always walked by this place and wanted to give it a whirl. Unfortunately, its very limited hours (6AM to 4PM) are something of an impediment to slaves to the 9-5 grind. However, hungover on a Sunday and barely motivated to get off my couch, much less make my own French toast, I headed over to the Little Corner Restaurant. The crowd was a mix of regulars and Loyola students, with the occasional stroller parked beside a family booth. Most of the regulars were seated around the rectangular counter, which dominates the middle of the restaurant, bantering familiarly with the waitstaff. Definitely a great place to sit and relax with the Sunday paper. There was no wait to be seated and the service was friendly, quick, and efficient. A coffee mug or water glass never went unfilled. My French toast arrived hot off the griddle, though I wish I could say the same for my hashbrowns and sausage, which were served lukewarm. However, that was my only complaint. Overall, the food was what you would expect from a diner - traditional and solid with breakfast served all day. It was a pleasant, "back-to-basics" change-up from my usual, froofier Andersonville fare. So my friend and I literally chose this place because we were in the area, hungry, and cold (he chose to wear a sweater during a snowstorm). Now, the food isn't fantastic by any means, but it was quick, filling, and I really couldn't find anything to complain about. The service was good, and our waitress noticed that our syrup container was empty before we did, and got us a full one instantly. Some people on here have complained about it being cash-only, but I think that is outweighed by them using a cash register that can truly be called antique. As a nerdy coin-collecting person, I appreciate them keeping a little piece of history alive and in daily use. I doubt I'll ever return to this place, but that's mostly because I don't foresee myself being in that area of the city again. read more

My husband and I love this place! The staff is friendly and they remember who their customers are. As it was stated, they are fast with the orders. During the early morning it's quiet, once 8 am to 9 am hits it gets crowded. I've eaten here 6 or 7 times for breakfast and think the food is decent for the price, but I've always been upset by the looks and cleanliness of this place. I think the front part of the restaurant has a quaint, diner-style appeal to it, but when I was seated in the back section of the restaurant I was actually appalled to see a back counter with old VCRs, TVs, and random other objects. It was dusty and the floors were terribly dirty. The menus here are also old, dirty, and could be replaced. If I look past those things and just focus on the food, I think the menu items taste good but taste exactly like what I could easily make at home. Personally, I like to go to a restaurant to get a good meal that is beyond my own home-cooking. If that's not what you're looking for and you just want a cheap meal that tastes good, then go here. read more

Mom and I stopped here by default today. We were hoping to have lunch at St. Andrews Pub, as we were in the neighborhood. I parked and paid the meter only to find St. Andrews doors locked, so we headed across the street to LCR. It is a nice little diner. It certainly looked clean, including the restroom. You have a choice of counter seating or booths. The booth we had was roomy. We both ordered their skirt steak special. It was under 8 dollars and came with a very nice cream of spinach soup, good fries, a little tasty cole slaw, dill pickle lettuce and tomato. The skirt steak, served on toast points was surprisingly flavorful. Mom, who usually eats like a bird, ate all of her steak, and it was a good size piece of meat. The service was very good. The waitress was attentive and cheerful to one and all. It seems like there are a lot of regulars that frequent this diner. We will go back and try some of the breakfast items. If they are as good as the steak special, will up the review to 4 stars. read more

If you're looking for a decent, inexpensive breakfast, this is your place. I haven't been in a while but got egg white omelets fairly often, and they always did a good job of making sure they were nice and fluffy and not burnt. The potatoes were good too and not too greasy, although the toast was always saturated with butter. I'm guessing the owners are Greek or of Mediterranean descent since they have items like gyro omelets and others that you wouldn't typically expect to pop up on the breakfast menu at a diner. They're open through 4 for lunch as well, but I've only ever tried their breakfast items. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the food comes out much quicker than you would anticipate, given how crowded it normally is when we go. Like I said, if you're looking for a cheap breakfast, this is your place. On the other hand, if you don't mind spending a little bit more for something a step above, cross the street and have your brunch at Broadway Wine Cellars. read more
