Found this cute little Italian spot by coincidence and everything was top notch! The service was absolutely outstanding, even though the waiter was fairly new. Not only do they provide a complementary bread and butter basket, but also a taste of their cheese pizza. This was a smart thing to do, because we were not going to order pizza at all that day, however it tasted just like at home. So we ordered pizza and pasta to include Caprese salad and a delicious perfectly made cappuccino. A little bit on the pricey side, but definitely worth the buck. Spacious parking was the first good sign! Walking in, we were helped right away and seated. The interior gave away that family Italian restaurant vibes. For those that enjoy wine, they have an extensive menu of options. We were starving and went straight to try the calamari as appetizers and shrimp fettuccine as my entree. Everything came out within good time and piping hot and fresh. Calamari was delicious! Shrimp fettuccine didn't disappoint as well. This restaurant has been in business for a while, established in 1983, the restaurant was founded by the Visocaro family from Palermo, Sicily, who previously ran a pizzeria in New York before moving to San Antonio, now you know this place has authentic Italian food! The staff is attentive and friendly and they make you feel right at home. They welcome you with thinly sliced pizza and fresh bread and olive oil. Everything we got was delicious, the calamari was not my favorite but my brother liked it. Our main dishes had generous portions and were very tasteful. And their service is very good. Let me start by saying, I love this place so if you're looking for an unbiased review I may not be the source. I will however, give an honest review from the perspective of a local who visits here a lot, and has tried a lot of different items. Little Italy feels like walking into one of the Italian kitchens in upstate New York. It's quaint, softly lit and well decorated. The first thing you will see is all the antipasto and desserts in cases. I have sworn for years that I will get a dessert before I leave, but I've always been too full to do it. We've never had a reservation for little Italy, we have always been seated promptly and there is always several other tables full of families and friends enjoying dinner - so I do think the size of the restaurant is appropriate. I will get right into our entrees for this review, but first I do want to give props to Little Italy for one thing they do that I love. Every time we go they bring out a slice of pizza for the table, cut into smaller pieces. This tickles me to no end and I really look forward to this small taste of pizza before every dinner. For our last visit, I got the chicken cacciatore along with mixed vegetables instead of pasta (I've been traveling and eating a lot of heavy food lately so I'm trying to watch it), and my girlfriend got the chicken Neapolitana dinner (with spaghetti because she's a real one). Both dishes were done incredibly well, her fried chicken was crispy and the sauce on my cacciatore was a huge stand out with a lot of flavor from the garlic. Every item I have had at this restaurant has been varying degrees of great to amazing, and I would rate the cacciatore as amazing. As stated I love this place, but that love was earned over time. I find that this is an Italian place that is taking their time with their sauces, and making sure they are right before they're served. My wife and I went on a Saturday evening. We had a 20-minute wait which I thought was acceptable, but they have nowhere to wait. They have a little bar area that has no seating other than at the bar. We stood and waited. Once seated and when ordering the waitress seemed rushed and impatient. Messed up the drink order, never brought our salads until we asked about them when our entree's arrived. Received salads when entree was almost finished. Had to request drink refills and again brought the incorrect drink. We were never asked whether we wanted other refills which was just as well. Provided a check, but when brought back for signing had an adjusted fee added to the bill with absolutely no explanation. I can only assume some credit cards surcharge but if it was, it should have been labelled as such. The food was good but nothing better than you can get at any other Italian restaurant in town. Given the service and atmosphere, I don't think we'll be returning any time soon, if ever. read more

I'm actually bother that I haven't tried this before. This place was fabulous the people are friendly service is outstanding. Our glasses never went empty. We have the Alfredo sauce which was so darn good my wife started eating my dish. We got the square pizza which had a lot of flavor we were given complimentary cheese pizza slices that had so much flavor it made me excited to order. They have a huge assortment of wines, feels like I'm sitting in the middle of Venice. The atmosphere is pure simple and has that old Italian feel. I see some of the reviews which I am quite shocked that they are not better than what they should be but everyone has their own experiences. Light hot water or coffee thats been ran through the grains several times. To me like most I love my coffee. Nothing like a good cup of coffee with a meal. To me if this was a breakfast place I'd probably not go just because of it. If you have really good food you really need a good quality coffee. Why work so hard on dishes and fail on something so small. Speaking of dessert, their dessert was amazing as well but to bad there wasn't a good cup of coffee to go with it! Little Italy has been our "go-to" Italian source for over 20 years, and the family-owned atmosphere is a big part of that choice. We have gotten old and reserve this for special occasions, usually with take-out directions. Even with our old digestive systems, the food does not upset and goes down warm and friendly. We do prefer to eat in the restaurant because it "feels like Italy" or at least like New York Italian. I typically order the excellent eggplant rollatini or parmigiana with the house salad. Everything was hot and fresh but the seasoning was off on just about everything. Stuffed mushrooms 1/5. I could tell they were fresh and homemade, but they were just weird. There were capers and a bunch of stuff, but just not edible for me. Fettuccine mushrooms & garlic 2/5. This was barely edible. Way too much garlic and way too much citrus. The mushrooms tasted like they were marinated in lemon juice. I like good sautéed mushrooms and this was not it. I love garlic but this was too strong. Gnocchi a la romana 3/5 the gnocchi was a 5/5 but the meat was not seasoned so the sauce was bland.
