I noticed a lot of people commented on how small the skewers are. Speaking as two women who were eating, we feel like the portion sizes are really good and we actually felt we over ordered! The meat on the stick is a smaller portion but they give many sticks. Food is good but unfortunately when they do their karaoke the music is way too loud and hard to hang out and chat with friends which is the main point for me to go out to a late night skewer spot. You order from a. iPad and someone brings out what you order and there's a button on the table that you press if you need service or anything. We had the spinach and peanut salad and I was ready to sell my soul for more. It was so good I couldn't stop eating it. The edamame was...edamame. Nothing special. The meat skewers were really good. The potato was delicious, I could have had 4. The beef and rice noodle soup was really flavorful and warming on a rainy Saturday. I originally came to this restaurant with friends just to enjoy some skewers, but it unexpectedly turned into one of the luckiest meals I've ever had! Shortly after we ordered, our server brought over a large box of playing cards and explained that from Monday through Wednesday, tables spending over $100 could draw a card for a surprise prize. I honestly thought it was just a fun little promotion, but I ended up drawing the Joker card, which meant our meal was free! At first I thought I had misunderstood, so I asked the server to confirm, and it was real! Naturally, our reaction was, "We should order a few more dishes!" We visited this skewer place in Fremont based on our previous experience with its sister restaurant in LA area. The decor and ambiance are great. Service is efficient on a Sunday afternoon. Plum rice wine is a must. Beef sour cabbage stew is our favorite although the hotdog sausage in the soup is kind of odd. Of cause we came for the skewers. This review should've been posted earlier, but this is my go to spot for Chinese skewers :) Food: The menu is pretty diverse. My favorites are the premium marbled beef, pork belly, and cauliflower. Both meats are always very soft and easy to bite off the skewer. Be warned though, pretty much everything here has the same seasoning/can be salty and the meat is small (these aren't big kebabs or anything), so you're out of luck if you don't like strong cumin flavor or are expecting big yakitori style skewers. The restaurant is called LITTLE SKEWER for a reason! I think to accompany the skewers, you definitely need to get the malatang pot. It's filled with glass noodles, different types of fish cake, sausage, thinly sliced beef, Napa cabbage, and the soup is nice and numbing. I don't know if it's because I was really hungry but this was so good and I'll be ordering it every time I come back. Service: Service here is good. The servers are friendly and even played games with some customers when I was there. The skewers also come out relatively quickly. Restaurant/cleanliness: the restaurant itself is themed well like you're in an ancient Chinese drama. Came here for late night skewers at around 10:15 pm with friends! Ordering is done via a tablet provided to each table. First time I've seen so many alcohol shots offered in the way they do here. We ordered cauliflower, pork, beef, squid, chicken, and wagyu beef skewers. The one wagyu beef skewer option was much larger than the batches of regular skewers. While it's very clean and cute inside, I wasn't satisfied with the food quality. understand it's called "Little Skewer" but why is it smaller than my pinky finger?! Also, everything was just doused in seasoning which made it so salty... and a lot of the skewers were overcooked and dry, which can be very easily done as they're so tiny. The service was ok. A new skewer spot has arrived in the Warm Springs area of Fremont. Little Skewer is located in a small plaza that houses three restaurants total. Parking can definitely be a challenge to find, especially on a weekend. We got lucky in that we found parking (two spots remaining) on Saturday evening at 6:10 PM. Upon entering, there is a waitlist tablet where you can sign up. There were 7 parties ahead of us at the time. By 6:30 PM, it started to get pretty full. We waited 20 minutes to get seated. They specialize in "little" skewers in that there is a small portion of meat on the skewer itself. We were anticipating it to be really tiny, but it actually was more filling than we thought. Each set of skewers comes with anywhere between 5-20 skewers depending on what you get. We tried the chicken skin (10), chicken gizzard (5), lamb (10), squid legs (10), and oyster mushroom (5). All the skewers had a good amount of seasoning (hint of spice) and a nice smoky charcoal flavor. They place the skewers on a hot plate to keep them warm. We also ordered the golden soup and an order of cucumber salad to cut some of the grease and fattiness of the skewers. The golden soup has a pickled flavor and the cucumber salad was perfectly crisp with peanuts. I loved the cucumber salad and would definitely get it again. Vibes were great late at night at 10pm and the place was full which makes me happy as a Fremont native. Skewers were fantastic and full of flavor. The chicken skin was super crispy and the garlic cucumber had so much garlic in the best way. It was tasty but I didn't feel like I could really fully enjoy the meat because of how tiny the cuts were. Service was attentive and fast, they also have the button for you to press to call the workers and have the napkins inside the cabinet table. They also have live karaoke where you can donate to the girl that's singing-- $20 to request a song from her. We got the wagyu skewer, chicken skin, lamb, beef skewers, squid, and the steamed buns. The chicken skin and the wagyu stick were my highlight--at first the chicken skin was a bit dry but the second batch came out so juicy and was just so good. The squid I prefer a more crispy harder texture, it was a bit too soft for me. Here, the skewers are seasoned so well with TONS of flavor! They're not overly greasy and don't leave you feeling nauseated after a few lol. They even serve mala pots that are enough to share between two people! The spice was numbing, but not to the extent that you lose all your taste buds. I recommend sharing a pot because it makes a nice palette cleanser in between skewers. This place is also open until 1am every day! Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the veggie skewers here!
