After trying the food, I definitely think they deserve more business. They offer raw marinated crab as part of their banchan, which is something I haven't seen before. Everything I tried was above average I would say. Seolleongtang was very rich, and the beef jeon had a good texture. My friend got a spicy beef tofu soup and it tasted very filling and perfect for a hangover. Nice auntie working front of house, prices are on par with other places. I would say out of all the Korean restaurants in the area, this one really stood out to me. Pricing, food quality, taste, service. All these combined have made this restaurant my new favorite in the bay. The spicy cold noodle was the best cold noodle I've had in the bay. The spicy pork was also thinly sliced and has so much good flavor to it. The sollemtang was fragrant, rich, and just very authentic. The best part?? It wasn't that expensive at all. They have this combo which is 1 cold noodle dish (spicy/non spicy) and 1 meat dish for just $40! And it was well enough to feed the both of us. We added the soup which was only $18. Only complaint... besides the japchae, every banchan is "spicy." I wish they had fish cakes, potatoes or something sweet as a different flavor profile. Or don't add that spice to the bean sprouts to keep it mellow and refreshing. Bulgogi was soooo juicy, flavorful, and not dry at all. Seems as if they put a whole onion on the bottom lol. Full of seafood, thought I wish it was crispy or crisper than it was. I have mixed feelings about this place. There were things I liked but also several things I really disliked. I'd say 3.5/5 overall, they definitely have things to improve on. Upon entry, the restaurant had a strong bathroom-like smell which was a bit off putting since the space is relatively new and clean. The biggest issue I had is that they forgot important pieces to the dishes I ordered for dining in and taking out. I ordered beef tofu soup, but the beef was completely forgotten in the order even though it was paid extra for on the receipt. And, the cold noodles were barely cold as they did not add ice, which is almost always in that dish. Lastly, I had asked for the takeout items to be separate from the dine-in tab but even that wasn't followed through with. On the other hand, I was pleased at how spicy raw marinated crabs were in the banchan though very small pieces at that, but they were good. And the rices were served in pots that crisped up the bottom! The quality is definitely there but the execution could be improved to really have it shine. RECS: + Brisket seolleongtang ($18.95) tasted comforting and light, I have had better but this hit the spot! I wish it was more beefy + Tofu soup ($19.95 but... beef was forgotten) had good flavor but again, quite sad beef was not put in. The 2nd set of Kim Chee spread came without incident... a plus. As for the food, it's above average in taste but ingredients are of higher quality than most Korean restaurants. They use pork belly meat for spicy pork. Their Kim Chee spread is definitely the higher quality ones that one would get from high end Korean restaurants. The raw crab is a pleasant surprise. The bulgogi beef is also a higher quality beef that is slightly marinated & done well. Overall, the tastes although good but slightly milder in tastes. If you like that, it's perfect! The spicy scale is definitely on the low end scale. Wonder if one can order a dialed up version. Water is given by a jug so you can pour water for yourself. I appreciated that they gave a good amount of banchan (side dishes) and because they're in grand opening, they also gave raw marinated crab as a side dish. There were all three types of kimchi (cabbage, radish, and cucumber), japchae, and a pickled radish/pepper side dish. I found all of them to be pretty good. I ordered the tofu soup mild. You have the option to add an egg. It came out bubbling. The flavor was good with pretty decent chunks of beef inside. The chive pancake is shareable and had a great amount of chives in it. Solid seollongtang and LA galbi! The seollongtang was on the lighter side but still super flavorful. LA galbi was super tender and a good level of marinated. However I think the galbi portion was a little small for the cost. Glad there's a new spot for seollongtang and other nice homey Korean tangs. Very vibrant vibe inside and the staff is very friendly. Our server brought us many extra bowls, utensils (smaller ones that fit his mouth), and even a small treat to keep my toddler happy which was super thoughtful of them. Mandu soup was yummy and the dumplings were soft and flavorful. The broth comes unseasoned and they leave salt and pepper at the table for you to season to your liking. I particularly liked the soondubu here, the beef was tender and there was a big serving of soft tofu as well. I only wish there was more beef in the soup since it was so good haha. Soup itself was not oily and didn't have many chili flakes which I appreciated. Even though it was mild it was practically not spicy but still flavorful. Newly opened. This restaurant offers the standard Korean BBQ items and soft tofu soup options. They have reasonably priced lunch specials. I like that they also offer meat jun (called Wagyu beef jun on their menu) in addition to seafood pancake. They have Galbi Jjim here between $75-$78 (non-spicy or spicy). You can find this in the Specials section of their menu. Would like to see tteokbokki and bibimbap on their menu someday. Staff were courteous. I ordered the bulgogi lunch special just shy of $18. Quite the deal because the portion of beef was large and served on a hot skillet. Taste was good and beef was very tender and juicy, but I realize some of you Korean food connoisseurs prefer your bulgogi with a more grilled consistency and texture. That part, I agree with, but for this portion and price, it's still a steal and of great value. On to the banchan - items were fresh and tasty. I was shocked in a pleasant way when I saw spicy crab as one of the banchan items. This is not cheap and to get it as a complimentary offering, it put a smile on my face. Nice touch even if this is just a temporary tactic to pull in customers to a new restaurant...and yes, I noticed the bowl that the rice came in. Definitely an innovative container design, considering most Korean restaurants use metal containers for the rice. I must say that this is one of the best tofu house places in the area, given there's several. The freshness of the food was unmatched, beef and chicken were both tender and full of flavor. We walked in at 6:00 PM and were immediately greeted by the lady running the front of the house (who I internally called "Auntie" the entire time).
