Great food and good service! We've been to Galena a million times and thought we'd give Little Tokyo a try, and we were left very happy! Dining area was quite busy so we opted to sit and eat at the bar. We ordered Gyoza to share, Chicken Pad Thai and the lunch sushi (3 rolls) California, spicy shrimp and the Philadelphia roll. We'll definitely be back!

I have been to Galena many times and I decided to give Little Tokyo a try for lunch. The bar area is rustic, and the bartender was attentive and nice. The mai tai was very good. I ordered the bento box dinner portion, which was plenty for two people. The miso soup was delicious! The California roll with 4 pieces was very good. However, I found the steak teriyaki to be somewhat tough (for being cooked medium). I was told the sashimi was very good and fresh. I give this place 3.5 stars. I will try something different here next time I am in Galena.

This is a tough one. The thought experiment is whether the place should be judged for what it is... which is a Japanese-styled restaurant in a tourist town. It's probably the only Asian food around this town, so it needs to cater to the tourist clientele. Are we supposed to be here for authentic? I don't think so. Right? The food is fine, though somewhat lacking in flavor/freshness/texture. The preparation is suited to tourists with fussy tastes, so it's in their best interest to keep it mild, I suppose. The ambiance and the dish flourishes (mini LED on the sushi boat) is like a throwback to Asian restaurants from 30 years ago... which again... if that's the intent, then it's working. The service is good, though I felt a little bit of extra hovering. So that's the thought experiment. Do we judge Little Tokyo against popular tastes or authentic tastes (as if I really know what 'authentic tastes' are anyhow)? I think its website refers to itself as "the finest Japanese restaurant in the tri-states" which probably is a little hyperbole and a little marketing - but I know it set my expectations higher than it ought to be.

Love going to Little Tokyo - my birthday fave. The Romeo and Juliet role and little Tokyo roll are my go tos. They also are excellent at frying things- not heavy or doughy - light crisp. A must hit if you are in Galena

Impressive. Came here for lunch and glad I did. Ordered a beef bento box, came with a yummy salad, gyoza, Cali rolls, friend rice and a perfect strip "steak" + orange slice. NGL, it was great! Good service, nice atmosphere and wallet friendly.

First time here after numerous Galena visits. It was fairly busy on a Sunday evening about 6:30 pm. Drinks were fast coming out, as were soup and salad that came with a hibachi entree. But the entrees took a very long time to appear. The osumashi soup was a bit thin but had good flavor, it's the one with chicken broth, mushroom and scallions. Could have had more of both. Shrimp hibachi had a good amount of tasty shrimp, the veges and fried rice were great. The other entree we got was Romeo & Juliet rolls, with shaved ginger and wasabi. Also very good. Average to quiet noise level.

The reviews looked good, but then we met a couple on Friday evening while out who spoke highly of Little Tokyo! We decided to have dinner there on Saturday night! It was great! The waitress was so helpful. Our rolls were 10/10. It was the perfect anniversary dinner for our weekend in Galena! Though it was busy, we felt like we had privacy to enjoy each other's conversation. The X-O Roll in all honestly didn't catch my eye and didn't look appetizing in the photo on the menu. We trusted the waitress and we were thrilled that we did! It was probably one of our favorite warm rolls we've ever had. Can't wait to go back when we visit next!

Very good Japanese food with many options to choose from. Was surprised Galena had a place like this.... Very good and good portions.

The food is excellent, especially the miso ramen, which is a comforting mix of miso soup and ramen topped with two gigantic pork chashu cutlets. It's the kind of meal that reminds you of some of the best cuisine around. We also loved the pad Thai and can't wait to try the Thai basil dish and more on our next visit. The Thai iced tea was another standout - perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet like the usual versions with condensed milk. It tasted very authentic. This place is a great new find, and we'll definitely be back.

These items are my recommendation to anyone from out of town who needs a reminder that staples like these can have the smallest tweeks and make the biggest changes. I was a little sad by the pho. I was not on the same level as the Apps. The restaurant has a very nice layout but I was disappointed to see so many other families with young babies and this location did not have a changing table in the restroom. I would request a changing table if the owner sees this. As for the wait staff, our waiter was nice and prompt with our meals, but he seemed a little over whelmed and not very personable. I think my family (of 3) just caught him on a bad day.

My husband and I arrived a bit early- parking is really tough on a Friday night in downtown Galena but we scored a spot a block away quickly. So, we headed to the bar to enjoy a pre-dinner drink. $10 Pinot Grigio and Petosi $6.00 on tap- I enjoyed the piano player for a bit! Very talented! Once our party all arrived, we will seated in one of the dining rooms. We started with sharing saganaki, because this is what you do here. Most everyone ordered the filet, but I wanted the salmon and husband had the Greek chicken. The entrees come with a starch and soup or salad so we chose the cream of broccoli and a baked potato. Everything was very tasty and service was excellent as they work on a team - so there was always someone promptly picking up dishes etc. The meal ran about $75 pp as we averaged it out

Always open for a first time…read more I called earlier in the day to make a dinner reservation, but no answer, but an answering machine. I left a message with a call back number asking about a reservation. Didn't get a callback, so we were a little concerned walking in at 5:30 on a Thursday evening. First thing we were asked after walking in was do you have a reservation? I explained what I wrote above and he says I think we have a table, no waiting. We usually prefer a booth, there was an empty booth next to our table, so I asked if it was available, was told that had a reservation. We settled into our table, ordered drinks and an appetizer. Then a staff member came over and offered the booth as the reservation was running late. We stayed put, placed our dinner order and relaxed. My partner ordered the small prime rib, I opted for the Greek style Cod. We both chose baked potatos. Our appetizer Greek feta with kalamata olives and tomatoes was very good. We opted out on the salads that came with our meals, but as the restaurant rotated customers we heard several offers for lentil soup instead, sadly not to us. Our meals came, great job with timing the different meals looking great. The medium-rare prime rib was great on top, but the bottom had a 1/8" deep sear that was a surprise. My Greek cod woke me up to a new version of the meal. Very Good and worth coming back for! The room was twice greeted with the exciting display of flaming saganaki, if you've never seen or had it, it's a great display and everyone nearby gets to feel the heat. The small prime rib was larger than any we've had elsewhere, but should have been more carefully cooked as the restaurant was not at capacity. Overall a nice restaurant, you have to love Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin music. Our server was very good, but missed offering the soup. I guess if you're calling for a reservation, call after 4:00 pm during serving hours. Worth returning to try other offerings.
