Crawfish and fish combo. Very good. 5/5 would recommend. One of the best and freshest seafood I've ever had!

Very good and fresh. Crawfish and fish combo. Eggplant. And calamri. Compliment sunflower seeds. 10/10

It's a Chinese restaurant. - Cucumber Salad 1.7/5 Very very garlicky, not enough vinegar. - Lamb Skewers 4.2/5 Good lamb skewers. Good taste, well cooked. - Grilled Octopus 4.1/5 Good tasting octopus legs. It's well seasoned as well. - Grilled Oysters 5/5 Whatever sauce they put on top is DELICIOUS. It's spicy with garlic, and pairs perfectly with the grilled oysters. The oysters are huge. - Spicy Beef & Tripe 1.6/5 Spicy beef and tendon... it was ok. - Grilled Fish 3.2/5 Tender fish, it's fried then boiled with spicy broth. The fish was tender. Free parking in lot.

Food was AMAZING 100/10 Service was GREAT!! Even though there was a language barrier, we used chat GPT and they knew exactly what we asked for. Ambiance was quiet, we came on a Tuesday night. Very friendly people, the vibes were great! Definitely coming back!

Instantly, from the moment I was seated, I was transported to the small night markets and food stalls in China. The wooden tables, decor, liveliness of the place gave a reminiscent feel to past travels to China The menu was daunting to an unfamiliar eye and sadly did not have descriptions. It was quite challenging as primarily English speakers but fortunately, we had a Mandarin speaker in our group. Most of the staff was friendly but mostly spoke Mandarin. We ordered the signature medaka fish with chongqing authentic sauce (per the servers recommendation) with added combination veggies and chicken + small lamb skewers. If you like Mala, this is your place! Towards the end, consider my tongue numb. Fish was fresh and delicious! Taste alone, I give it a 5/5. Chicken skewers were pretty good but I probably would not get the lamb small skewers again as it had little meat on the stick. The food items were on the pricier side. Final consensus: I would recommend this to a friend who misses authentic Chinese mala food but would only frequent this place once in a while myself

They have a Yelp waitlist for checking in upon arrival and app ordering to your table. They were packed by we didn't wait long as staff are buzzing all over the restaurant. The servers are friendly but don't speak a ton of English which is totally ok, so if you aren't Chinese prepare to be a little more patient to ensure they clearly understand what you're asking for. We went with beef, squid, and chicken skewers, cucumber with fungi salad, garlic eggplant, and chicken fried rice. There were left overs of the chicken skewers and rice because the three of us were stuffed. The food was super tasty. There disco lights shining green lasers was a little over stimulating after a while and they have upbeat club music playing.

Stumbled upon this place and I already cant wait to go back for more! We ordered fishball skewers, green onion skewers, pork belly skewers, chicken skin skewers, cumin beef skewers, and cumin lamb skewers. We also got grilled steam buns and a chinese eggplant with garlic as well as some beer to pair with the food. The eggplant was so delicious and well seasoned I just wish they had served it cut up already so that it was easier to eat. The best part was definitely the meat everything was so juicy and delicious and I was so surprised at how lovely everything tasted. The pork belly skewers were a tad overcooked and a little dry but still yummy and some of the chicken skin was not as crispy as I would like but still good and well seasoned. The service was also pretty good and the ambiance was also really nice. They have picnic style tables in there and it was decorated nicely -- definitely a good spot for groups. Next time I definitely want to try the roast fish and get more skewers!

The restaurant's decor is very distinctive, and the service is attentive. I ordered the non-spicy crayfish and the grilled fish platter. The grilled fish absorbed the sauce perfectly and was very flavorful. The crayfish were large, and since they were fresh, the meat was tender and springy. The taste was excellent, and I'll definitely come back to try other dishes next time.

I went to Liu Roast Fish after years of missing out on this dish. We got their house special qing jiang fish with Liu's Homestyle base, set at a medium spice level. The flavors were exquisite, each bite bursting with savory goodness. The skewers, sides, and elggplant with garlic sauce were equally delicious. The indoor seating arrangement provided a comfortable dining experience, and the staff consistently checked in with us.

First off, my partner did the ordering as this is somewhat similar to her hometown food and I'm unfamiliar. Therefore, I might be butchering some of the menu items ordered. Most waiters don't speak much English so it's nice to have someone who can speak Mandarin in your party. Anyhoo... Location is great and interior has a good amount of seats. There's ample space between other tables and it doesn't seem very cramped. A thing to note is the late night hours on the weekends which makes Liu Roast Fish a great place for late night snacks, which is readily available in China. I think this place is doing a good job in bringing those vibes here. As other reviews have stated, this place is a bit pricey. My partner ordered the Crawfish & Fish pot, adding in Beef Tripe and Veggies. She told me it was 3lb each, and let me tell you...it's A LOT. But of course, we demolished it because it was pretty darn good. We ordered the garlic flavor one and the soup was delicious. She did put some add-ons (Beef Tripe and Veggies), but the amount was super limited. We could barely fish out any tripe from underneath the pile of crawfish and fish. I would advise not to order add-ons as it seems to be a rip off based off the price you pay. I also ordered the buckwheat cold noodles, which is similar to the cold noodles in Korea. It was super delicious!! Great way to counter the hot soup pot we ordered. Overall, I will give this place 3.5 stars. They forgot to bring us water when we sat down for awhile already, and they had to be reminded. The bathroom is also pretty filthy and the floor is extremely slippery...please be careful. I think placing a nonstick mat can be helpful and because it's a late night place, there's bound to be a mess due to people hanging out, drinking beer. I'd suggest checking and cleaning the bathroom every so often throughout service. Foodwise, great. My girlfriend thought it was reminiscent of her hometown food so I would say it gets a pass. I'd come here if I'm in the area.

Great place to end the night dinner was Spontaneous food was delicious mouth was watering the whole time the skewer were on point and also the steam fish was so flavorful. Service was great the lady and the guy were amazing so kind and making sure everything was perfect. The ambiance was great felt like I was part of there culture great place to throw big ass party. Well definitely come back.

    Signature Medaka

I came here by myself after coming home from a business trip and the server was polite and courteous as soon as I walked in. The music wasn't too loud, and the interior was pretty cool and fun looking. Since I was alone, the waiter recommended skewers, fried rice, or soup, since many of the dishes are family style. I said I could manage a larger meal so he helped me pick out some fish according to my preferences. I went with the signature medaka. I was not expecting the flavor to be so good! I tried the lius secret flavor with mild spice level, and that was plenty hot without making me want to cry, it had the numb kind of spicy that I like. If you're non-Chinese like me and looking to expand your tastes, I'd highly recommend it. Picking around the bones might be difficult, so you might want to ask for a fork and knife, but the flavor is absolutely worth it! I'd definitely come back sometime, as well as introduce my friends to this place.

"Buddha Jump the wall" is a famous Chinese Dish.good to know this particular item from one of my best friend, say all loaded, inside got golden pomfret oyster and sea cucumber and pork feet beef tender....really awesome.they called northeast Buddha jump the wall. The only flaw is this dish is appointment only.you have to order it prior the date coming .they need preparation. The volume is so huge,we have a group of 4,all full.Price is also very reasonable.a little bit spicy, but the waiter says can request to be less spicy or no before ordering. Good dining experience.the dining room decoration and the atmosphere.

While not a bad eatery to be sure, they're somewhat new to the block and, as my friend described it, is "unabashedly Chinese". The staff's command of English is *very* limited, so even if their digital menu has some English it's not too friendly for folks that aren't as familiar with what to expect (the paper menu for instance was entirely in Chinese). The menus are a bit confusing and it's a tad expensive, but food quality wasn't too off the mark and the seafood was reasonably fresh. They did nail the fried fish texture pretty well, so at the very least you'll get a solid fried fish out of the meal. Most menu offerings don't really have descriptors so sauce options like "Chinese Spicy" and "Special Forces Combat Pot" are as opaque as they sound. Maybe it's a mainlander thing I'm just not aware of...? The staff were welcoming and friendly and service was generally pretty good, but even so it was hard to get a detailed explanation of what each option meant. As far as menu notes, the side dishes are actally things they throw into the entree grill as the fish base is a bit bare bones We opted for the Grilled Fish 2-4 Person Set with their "Chinese Spicy" at Hot (or at least I think we did). This seemed to be loaded up with a whole lot more seafood than I had originally thought, but it turned out reasonably fresh. We added on the combination vegetables and some rice. That turned out to be enough for two. The fish's deep fried texture plus the grilling flavor were pretty on point, so kudos to them for that. Nicely crunchy on the outside and staying pretty moist on the inside. Generally speaking the seafood in the grill were pretty fresh, except for the shrimp which seemed more 'meh' so we avoided those pieces. The extra veggies combo was indeed needed to add a bit more volume to the meal though their seasoning was pretty bare bones in of themselves. The fish seemed better off with the soup base given it's subtle flavor, but the added veggies needed a bit more help. Not my typical eat, but a decently good one if you're willing to pay a premium. Might not be too smooth if you don't have a Chinese patron with you though, so a little caution there.

The interior is beautiful, very Japanese-inspired with a clean mix of modern and rustic design elements. The menu is quite curated, featuring just a few options for main entrees and a select handful of appetizers. We arrived right at opening on a Tuesday night. We skipped the appetizers and were unfortunately told they were already out of Uni, meaning the Matsu bowl wasn't available. We both opted for the Take bowl instead. One major downside for me was the pricing. The bowls are already quite steep, so discovering that you have to pay an additional $4.50 just for the dashi broth felt a bit off-putting. Because of that, we chose to skip the broth altogether. As for the food, the bowl itself was flavorful and the portion size was decent. However, given the price and the massive reputation, it didn't quite meet my expectations and felt a bit underwhelming. I don't think I would return to this location, but it did make me want to travel to Japan to try the original version!

The banchan variety is actually really good, which is a highlight for me, though the kimchi isn't my favorite. My personal go-tos are the Korean jelly (muk muchim), broccoli, tomato, and macaroni salad. I'd honestly come back just for the banchan spread. That said, for the price, the main dishes are just okay. One big plus: they serve purple rice, which I always appreciate. Service has been very hit or miss. Sometimes they're friendly and accommodating, but my last visit really threw me off. We asked for a refill on the muk muchim, and our server said they were "sold out"... but then the table next to us was immediately served it. I'd honestly rather they just say no than give an excuse like that.. it left a bad impression and made the experience feel off. A few thoughts on the dishes: * Budae Jjigae - A bit bland for my taste, heavy on kimchi and light on meats like spam, sausage, and bacon. * Galbitang - Light yet flavorful, with 3 large rib bones that had a good amount of meat. Comes with glass noodles, rice cakes, and thin egg strips * Japchae - Not complimentary here (you have to order it), but it's actually pretty good. * Seafood tofu soup - Just okay, nothing too memorable. * Galbi - Flavorful and reliable--can't go wrong, especially with purple rice. * Mul Naengmyeon - Refreshing and well done. * Seafood pancake - Crispy, not overly oily, and packed with seafood and green onions. * Bibimbap - Loved the crispy rice at the bottom, though the beef portion was a bit small. * Yukgaejang - Decent, but not as rich or flavorful as other spots. Overall, I'd say this place shines most in its banchan variety and comfortable dining space, but the inconsistency in both food and service makes it a bit harder to fully recommend
