Although we ordered a number of dishes, I am going to comment only on the Peking duck since I did not take pictures of the other food. I called in to make a reservation about a week in advance for a Peking duck Saturday lunch to celebrate my mom's birthday. The earliest Peking duck availability they had was at 11:30 AM, so when we arrived, we were the first guests in the restaurant. We were seated promptly, and we placed our orders via QR code. You can elect to have the restaurant either make a soup out of the duck bones, or to serve stir-fried duck bones; we elected for the soup to balance out the greasiness of the duck. Personally, I would rate the Peking duck meal an 8.5 out of 10. The presentation was as expected and the duck was delicious. However, the duck is a little fatty, so it was a very heavy and greasy meal. Additionally, the restaurant doesn't include enough green onions and cucumbers for 20 wraps. As other commenters have mentioned, you need to place an extra order of the condiments for an additional charge. Lastly, there were flies flying around the inside of the restaurant. Although they didn't perturb me from enjoying my meal, it was quite annoying having to shoo them away every once in awhile. While the duck might not have that absolute 'heavenly' taste you get in Beijing, it is easily the best Peking duck you can find in the Bay Area. If you're craving Peking duck, Taste Good Beijing is the spot! The duck was amazing crispy skin, juicy meat, and all the fixings like pancakes and hoisin sauce. So good! I also tried the duck fried rice, which was super tasty and had lots of flavor, and the intestine in a hot clay pot. That one's for adventurous eaters, but it was spicy and really good. Family wanted Beijing duck, so we came for Beijing duck. As with any places that serve Beijing ducks, we have to order the duck at least 2 hours ahead of time. And when we arrived on time for our reservation, the duck was ready for us. The roasted duck was good and met our expectation. The chef carved the duck in front of us. 2 plates of meats, each piece with skin and meat balanced. (vs some HongKong style Beijing ducks are more skin than meat). An extra set of duck wrap, sauce, leek and cucumber is a must. However, the salt and pepper duck body (an add-on dish) was quite tough to eat, (we could have skipped this) so we ended up packing it to go, and made a soup with cabbage at home. The spicy green bean dish flavorful, my favorite too, and we all enjoyed. We did not like the sesame pastry though. as it was dry and tough. It is my first visit to this restaurant, and I am amazed by its authentic Beijing-styled services, from Mandarin with Beijing tone, homemade Beijing food, hutong signs to pictures. The beef wrap is delicious. With the Beijing sauce, it is juicier than the Taiwan-beef-wrap. I ordered the pork with Beijing sauce. The authentic flavor reminded me of this dishes I had tried my time in Beijing. The meat is tender and juicy, and the sauce is savory. I also enjoyed the cabbage, tofu and duck soup. It is on the light and healthy side with the taste of all the ingredients. Last but not the least, its jasmine tea has the same unique flavor and taste of the one in Beijing with robust real jasmine smell. We're here to try out their Peking duck from Beijing that are served as a 2 way meal, if you reserve yours for 2 hours ahead of time. We ordered: Peking duck with freshly made thin wheat pancakes, real Chinese Hoisin sauce, little sugar, julienned cucumbers, celery and green onions. -6/5. Excellent and so worth it! Crispy skin and meat is very clean, lean tasting and little oil from the duck. Soup served with duck broth, jujube, goji berries and some napa cabbage which balances the whole meal. Broth is light, clean tasting and removes the grease and gaminess of the duck. 4/5. Steamed rice Shredded pork with wood ear mushrooms, garlic sauce and a hint of black vinegar. Excellent, tangy, salt, umami and can taste the wok hei flavor and aroma. We loved this dish - 5/5. Stir fried green beans, pea shoots and eggplant with black bean sauce. Bad customer service. Peking duck tasted okay and is over priced for $80, tofu and cabbage they put in the soup with the duck remains is extra $9. The chef only gave not even half of the whole duck. We got two plates of mostly skin with hardly any meat. Then they took the rest of the duck to make a soup. When we got the soup they only put a few bones without any meat or skins. The back part like thighs and butt were missing. I would suggest to take home the remains and not make a soup out of it because they keep more than half of the duck! Definitely a rip off. We come here for mother's day as she been craving Peking Duck. I call ahead to make reservation and also pre order the duck. My mom was expecting them to carve the duck by table side, but they did it inside the kitchen and take out the duck plate. Not sure is it a policy change since covid. We order the tofu duck soup as an add on, but that soup did not taste like duck soup at all, we did ask the lady can we still take the post carved duck remains home, and she gave us two! The duck itself is quite good, there might be a bit more fat left on the skin then a top notch Peking Duck place, but is not bad consider the price and location. One of the best Peking ducks I've had in the Bay Area! The menu at taste good Beijing is super authentic Beijing (from a friend who grew up in Beijing). Many dishes you can't find elsewhere or you can't find as authentic elsewhere. My highlight is definitely the Peking duck. It's served in the Beijing style with Chinese pancakes, cucumbers, sauce (not sure what's called), and sliced at the right thickness. For bones and remaining duck meat, you can choose between soup and fried, recommend going with the soup as it's very tasty and refreshing. You usually have to make a reservation specifically for the Peking duck, but sometimes they have extra in stock so you can choose to wait for ~1h (definitely worth the wait). Our server was also super accommodating and served our duck first (we didn't have a res and were supposed to wait longer) cuz another group with res had not gotten their full party. We ordered a lot, averaged to ~$50 per person post tax and tip. read more

Peking duck was my first love. The flavor, the fats, the crispiness, and the combination of fresh green onions in a chewy thin wrap is really worth an indulgence for special occasions. I came here twice for two birthday meals, and I LOVED it both times. Keep in mind, I just love peking duck that much. The service might be tough since we had to flag down the waiters multiple times in Mandarin. (Any worse service and I don't think I can stay biased.) My boyfriend said this peking duck is standard in China, so I'm glad to be able to taste some here! Some tips to make your experience better: 1. CALL AHEAD one hour in advance so they prep the duck! As more recent immigrants from China surged, the restaurant option is diversified to add Sichuan and Beijing style which has more noodle instead of rice dish. They are very busy during peak hours. So I would recommend lunch time reservation between 11-12 starting time, and dinner at 5 pm to avoid the crowd and get better service. They are also busy with lots of takeouts. For an authentic northern style Chinese cuisine, I highly recommend this place. Overall, I enjoyed this restaurant. They had a lot of Beijing style dishes. They have a pretty cool traditional tea pot so you can serve yourself some tea before you start eating. Bad experience from ordering to pickup. I will go into that more, but first, let's grade the food that I ordered. Yangzhou fried rice: 2.5/5 it tastes decent, but the Chinese sausages they used is not good quality. Charging $15, it's overpriced. Peking duck: 4/5. A must have, and probably why you are reading this place's reviews. Experience is probably better for dine-in, but for pickup, it's not so good. You get 2 boxes of warm skin and meat, a cold duck cages, a bag of cold wraps out from their fridge, hoisin sauce, and a tiny case of green onion, cantaloupe, and cucumbers for wrapping. The duck tastes pretty good. Keep in mind that all ducks are oily. This is where you find a ton of oil on the bottle of each box. We will use the duck carcass for porridge on the next day. But why did they take out the tongue? That's the best part! We needed to steam the wraps ourselves. We didn't like the wraps, so we bought a bag of buns of Peking duck from an Asian supermarket. OK, now, why did I not have a good experience? 1. Online ordering DID NOT WORK. They ended up charging me, and will be refunded later. I'm still waiting. 2. They gave me the pick up time when I ordered over the phone. The really don't care about your pick up time. It's really first come first serve. I showed up 30 min early, and there was already a long line. They were very slow in everything while the food was already prepared way ahead of time. I didn't get my order until 35 min after my pick up time for a total of 65 min! 3. They don't sanitize the pens between uses. Beware. TL;DR: 1. Don't order online. Call to order. It's best to call the day before. 2. Get there an hour early to get in line. Expect a long line because they are very slow. They don't care the pick up time they tell you over the phone. 3. If you don't like the Peking duck wraps, buy the buns from an Asian grocery story ahead of time. You need to steam either one or both anyways 4. must order Peking duck. Others, not so much. 5. Came here late night Saturday and it was quite empty. There were only 2 other tables in the restaurant, but countless take out orders! Unfortunately, they stopped doing barbecue some time before 9pm, so I wasn't able to get that. I heard that's what this place is known for so am quite disappointed. This is a review for dining in. I've been here twice now (once pre-pandemic) and think this is a phenomenal restaurant! They make a bunch of authentic Beijing dishes - roast duck of course, and some others. A family member who was born and raised in Beijing was impressed by the food! I love the Moo Xu pork here and the hand torn cabbage - these are some of the best stir fry dishes I've had in the Bay. Not sure why but something about the size of the vegetables works really well, the sauce has the right amount of flavor, and the meat is really tender! I haven't tried most of the menu though so I can't speak for the other dishes. And their roast duck is pricey but really crispy and delicious. The soup was an extra $16 but outstanding (although I think you can also take the bones home yourself and make soup from them). The service is a little rushed and nothing special but overall no big complaints - food came out quickly. Definitely easier to navigate if you can speak Mandarin - I didn't see a lot of non-Chinese people here. Duck was not too fatty, probably one of the best duck I've had in the U.S. be aware though, if you want to have the duck, you need to make a reservation unless you are super lucky like we were. Great place for Beijing roast duck. You need to preorder the Beijing duck one day earlier. The duck is huge and is enough for more than 6 people. You can also add $6.99 to get duck bones cooked as salt and pepper flavor plus duck soup. Except the roast duck, I would highly recommend the Peking style roasted lamb. They also sell the Yanjing beer that is famous in China. BTW, they have a quiet VIP room for reservation. First of all, love the food. As a person who lived in China for most of my life, their cuisine is authentic and tasteful! You probably can't see the beauty from outside, but once you are inside--completely different!! They have a nice decoration, and the tableware is full of Chinese style. It really makes you feel like you are in a place in Beijing. We ordered the roasted duck, and all of them tastes good, from side dishes to the duck. Then they will give you a free dish: duck soup. It is made out of duck bones, which they will also give it to you after they cooked it with salt and pepper. Just remember to call them AT LEAST an hour before you go there because if you want to try the roasted duck, they need time to prepare it. The service is also great at this place. This is a Chinese restaurant that serve Beijing food. The food prep time is relative slow, so the line waiting outside is long. You can call or order online for take out. I called them directly to order and just go pick up the food. The restaurant say food will take 25 minutes. At end, I went there after 40 minutes, but the food is still not ready when I get there, so I think we had waited for total 50 to 55 minutes to get the food. The food overall is good, not a particular dish really standout or memorable. I order the following: 1.) Braised Pawns- The prawn are fresh, so has good chewy texture to it and it is well cooked. But the braised sauce is little on the sweet end. Average! 2.) Pork and Pickled Chinese Cabbages in Clay Pot - The sour cabbage soup is good. The sour cabbage is sour enough to give a good sour flavor to the soup while the sour cabbage themselves are not to sour when you eat them alone. The portion for the pork are decent and are thick, but it is not very tender because it is too thick of a slice. The cellophane inside are well cooked, and has minimum flavor, so balanced well with the sour cabbage and pork with eat them together. Well done soup! 3.) Quick Stir-Fried Pork Kidneys and shrimp - This dish has good and balanced flavor. The kidney is a little overcooked, but the small shrimps are tender and fresh. Overall it is a good dish. 4.) House special fish head with pancake - The fish head is big and flavorful and fish itself is fresh. The fish itself is kind of salty, but the sauce is flavorful and not to salty. The pancake come with is dry, so you have to soak them in the sauce for a little bit before you eat them. But because the fish is kind of salty, so you do want to eat with the pancake to balance out the flavors. 5.) Egg Pancake With Crispy Chips - This is a traditional Beijing street food, which is thin tortilla like pancake fried with egg outside and add Chinese donuts chip inside. It is already cold when I eat it, so kind it is not that taste. But the issue is you traditional will add sweet and salty paste sauce, so usually it should has both sweet and savory taste to it with the paste addd inside. It add very little sweet and salty paste sauce and way too much spicy sauce, so I can only taste the spicy sauce taste to it, which kill the original flavor of this street food. I would not recommend this dish, it is not well made. read more

This is one of the worst 80-bucks that I spent on food, feel like completely scammed. Pre-ordered a Peking roasted duck on Thanksgiving (they were sold out on Thanksgiving eve, too many dummy customers like me) and picked it up. Went home and here are a few things we found: 1) The WORST thing is that they literally packed us a bag of supermarket tortilla-like pancakes, unopened--it is okay if they use supermarket pancakes, but they didn't even heat them or pretend those are not made in house 2) Two stars for the duck--it is a cooked duck so it just cannot be worse than that. But the cut is just horrendously thick, when we wrapped everything in the pancake, oil started to drip crazily... 3) There is NO duck bone in the soup--we added like 6 dollars to get the duck bone soup but there are only cabbage and tofu. What a joke. 4) You can not imagine how badly they cut the cucumbers and the green onions, thick, and unevenly thick. A kid can do better than that. Overall, very bad. The worst thing is that they didn't even bother to pretend being good. Too much demand and too few restaurants with authentic Peking food. I would not support a restaurant with this attitude even though it is a difficult time. Go get a 25-buck hongkong-style roasted duck somewhere else if you are craving for roast duck. read more

I came back here after six or seven years for convenience of the location (was just in the neighborhood or else would have made a trip here judging from my last experience) and craving for Beijing Street food. I d say food and dining environment have improved since then. First, the menus are all nicely printed, just like how they do it in China. So there is a local feel to the restaurant --as if you were in China. Their overall decoration was upgraded compared to 7 years ago. It appears to be cleaner and more dining friendly. Last time I was here I really didn't want to eat there because everything was old and dirty. So give them props for the upgrades. We ordered 煎饼果子 (crepe)，炸灌肠(deep fried imitation sausage with garlic dip)，油炒面(oiled flour soup -sweet)，羊肉串(lamb skewers)。it aired satisfied my craving!!! Yet the quality of 煎饼果子is not as great as some other restaurants in the Bay Area, definitely need improvements. The color of 油炒面 should be dark brown, the one I got was pinkish brown. The taste was not bad though, reminded me of Beijing. If you have a craving for Beijing snacks and have no better places to go, come here. Bean thread noodle dish like mom used to make. Very good; tender and delicate. Will never see this in a pf changs. The trick is to compliment it with additional tender ingredients to build the texture profile. Eggs, marinated tenderized meat, bean sprouts, chinese chives, very good texture and flavor from savory salty to different crunchy types to aromatic from chives. They specialize in some of the northern buns, lamb, skewers, roast duck. Very well run. Menus have stunning photos. Wide variety of dishes. Lamb noodle soup: extremely large portion size like in China. Pork rib daikon soup very good marinated pork to bring out flavor of bone broth. Not Americanized Chinese food. You can probably order it and they can make it. They specialize in many dishes which you can't find anywhere else and they execute them well. Most of the customers speak Chinese so there is no chance they will post a Yelp review. The yelp reviews are biased towards non regular customers who had a bad experience. They run a light staff; serving labor is too expensive to maintain the low menu prices. Much cheaper than anything in Cupertino or Mtn View. Have to be patient. read more

Finally came back and tried some new items: - Tofu soup 豆腐脑 - this was bad, too salty and the corn starch slurry had big clumps in it - Jianbing 煎饼 - this Chinese omelette is supposed to have freshly fried crispy bits inside, but their version was stale and oily. - Xiaolongbao 小龙包 - meh, no soup, wrapper too thick. Skip next time - Chinese "hamburger" 包膜 - soft bits of pork belly were cascading out and their juices dripped down my hand as I ate mine. Very tasty Peking duck. Five of us came here and ordered eggplant, 糖醋里脊，pecking duck. It's a little bit too much maybe because we are all girls. Half of the duck we were not able to finish and took Togo. The restaurant is clean and the service is good. If you order Peking Duck they charge you a 18% service fee on top of the tax and tips. Which doesn't quite make sense to me. Overall a good experience read more
