I have been a patron of Loard's for many years and it is one of the "original" ice cream shops in Livermore that had been around for as long as I can remember! After dinner a few nights ago we decided to stop by this Loard's (we usually go to the one on second street but this was closer) and just by walking in the door I was stunned. The interior was messy and dirty and very barren of any decorations, the man behind the counter was not very hospitable, and it appeared that every request we made was a burden. I would certainly recommend that anyone who wants ice cream go to Loard's on second street or another ice cream store

A San Leandro native, I grew up on Loard's Ice Cream and during a recent trip to Downtown Livermore a few friends and I decided to get some an "ice cream nightcap" if you will while my friends were having a night out in Downtown Livermore. While there were many different flavor offerings to choose from, I ended up choosing the peppermint. It was good and refreshing, but not sure why but my ice cream melted super fast :( while my friends' stayed consistent longer. Customer service wasn't bad. The workers were very friendly and welcome to give any suggestions as needed. Overall? Not necessarily wow'd by this location but still find Loard's to be a delightful treat to end or start any day or night. There's a variety of flavors to choose from so there's likely to be something for you here as well.

Let me start saying that this review is specifically for this location, cause I haven't visit other ones yet... Ambience: very Spartan, looks like it is still under construction, and definitely not very clean (Windows, ice cream display cases -clear top part and lower part badly stained, floor, chairs and tables). Unfortunately I got my pants badly stained since I seated on a dirty chair (I didn't pay attention before sitting!!!) where someone else had spilled ice cream and obviously nobody took care of clean it before next customer (in this case me) used that chair. And this brings me to the service : not really good, one employee only, in a busy and hot afternoon can't really take care of customers in a proper way and keep the place clean at the same time. To be honest she wasn't the most customer oriented person either :)))) she looked annoyed by our questions (first time we were having Loard's ice cream) , but I totally accept that everybody can have a "nope" day. Talking about the ice cream, to me it was definitely too sweet and not enough flavorful, I mean you expect that a dark chocolate really tastes like what it suppose to be, in my opinion was pretty bland. Even banana hadn't a well defined taste... On top of that, I found the product a bit too pricey for what I really got. May be I have simply walked into the wrong location, so, I plan to give them another try in the future.

Friendly service from the cashiers, cute ambiance, and best of all, THEY HAVE SORBET!! I went to the one in Castro Valley and although that one has a way cuter theme of decor going on, this Loard's has Sorbet! You don't find many ice cream shops that offer sorbet. Even though I was stuffed from lunch, I couldn't pass up the opportunity of getting a scoop of Strawberry Sorbet. Now, normally I would've gotten the Single scoop cup but being so full, I was lucky they offered Kids scoops! The selection of flavors here are very unique as well and my friends who did try the regular ice cream they had agreed this place was as good as other have said it was.

Environment It's a small little ice cream with an old school vibe. It has these vintage pictures on the wall. I can imagine it would be a great spot to bring kids in the summer from the extreme heat! Food I ordered pecan praline on a waffle cone. Honestly, there wasn't anything special about the ice cream where I would want to come back. I would rather go to Cream down the street because I think the value is more worth it there. Service The staff was very friendly. I was shocked by all the negative reviews with the service. The guy offered me his opinion on the best flavors, and let me take my time.

Optimistically, I'd like to think it was more due to the latter, but regardless of the reason, we knew immediately we needed a cold sweet treat to cool ourselves off. Or, more specifically, a short walk across the parking lot to get some Somisomi! Much like all of their other locations that I've been to, this Somisomi is pretty minimal in nearly every way - from their design and decor to their menu. However, the latter, in particular, works for them, keeping things simple and helping them get orders out quickly. Plus, it's not like their menu is short on options - from their ahboong and upside ahboong, to their soft serve and taiyaki, to their milk drinks, cold brew, and cold brew float, they have a great selection to choose from. Not to mention how their variety of flavors of soft serve, taiyaki, and toppings allows for a dozens of ways for you to customize your order! While I already had an idea of what I wanted to get before we stepped inside, it didn't take me long to decide on their flavor once I saw their featured flavor. For my UPSIDE DOWN AHBOONG ($7.95), I opted to get their Cookies 'n Cream & Milk Tea Swirl with a Red Bean Taiyaki and Crushed Biscoff Crumbles. Sadly, this wasn't quite as awesome as I had hoped for, but this was still pretty good. Mostly, the taste of the milk tea in the swirl was hard to notice, but I did think the cookies 'n cream side of it was great. As before, though, the highlight of me was the taiyaki (with the swirl in it), as the red bean filling was delicious and I loved the batter - slightly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Despite how there was a small crowd ahead of when we got in line, it seemed like it only took a few minutes before all of our orders were ready. What's more, the workers here were all super friendly, which is impressive given how they're just constantly churning out orders one after another for hours on end. Considering how I'm so late to the Somisomi party, I'm sure there may still be some novelty to coming here for me, but it doesn't change the fact that I still thoroughly enjoyed my order. What's more, I don't know what the other dessert options are around Pleasanton, but I imagine there aren't many others that are also open so relatively late (open until 10:30pm on Fridays and weekends). If nothing else, this is a great place to head to for some sweet cool relief from the heat! Or the Chubby Cattle meat sweats...

When you walk in the first thing you'll notice is how open, bright, and clean this cafe is along with a friendly "ciao, welcome" from the owner. There were so many delicious gelato flavors to choose from but I ultimately went with the Amarena cherry flavor. It was so good and had the same sticky consistency of gelato I had in Italy. Turns out the owner is from Napoli, Italia! Many of the ingredients are from Italy. Their biscotti and lemon flavored were also great. I'll get those next time. In addition to coffee and espressos, they also offer Italian wines and beer. Can't wait to visit again!

The staff member was helpful and nice and let us sampled some flavors before we decided on one. The hazelnut was delicious, but we ended up getting a scoop of the almond. The almond flavor was very present, which we liked. There were also little almond bits. The texture of the gelato itself was creamy and smooth. It did melt really quickly though. Even when we were first handed the cup, it was already melting. That's the only thing I wished was different. This was my first time here so I could only speak from this one experience. Maybe it was just this day. Otherwise, we loved it!

I'm gonna be honest, I had their matcha from their OG store in Westwood when they were called Sip! I always thought their matcha was good, but I only got to enjoy it when I was going to school around there which was brief! The balance of matcha flavor and guava was 5/5. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm shopping in the area. It was satisfying and makes me crave their matcha!

The inside was very cute and had a very clean look. They had two kiosk on the side if you want to order on your own or you can order with someone helping you. We ordered thru kiosk, so not too much interaction with staff. Drinks did come out fast though! Overall, decent place for drinks.
