It was my Mother in laws birthday and we went to Afternoon Tea at Grand America This is a perfect thing to do for Birthday, Mothers Day, Anniversary, Baby Shower, or Hen Party. No matter the occasion celebrating with Afternoon Tea is the best way to impress with minimal effort. They start you off with scones, and a whipped cream and strawberries The scones were a little dry for my liking but mom liked them. Then came out the tower with mini sandwiches and petite sweets all made in house. They have many different types of tea, I tried the White Petal, I liked it. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Overall we had a lovely time. $39 per adult , $12 per child. I would give 5 star for location, service and ambiance but a 3 on the food.

I don't think anyone could not enjoy the afternoon tea service at the Grand America. The waiters are extremely kind and solicitous, offering to take photos, accommodating food preferences, very friendly. The setting is cozy and inviting and the signature live harp music sets a lovely mood. However, the food this time was a bit disappointing. I know they have a celebrated chef and everything is made in-house, but I think something has been lost in the mass production. My peppermint tea was nice, but the hot chocolate was lukewarm and too sweet. The scones were dry and tasteless. The fresh berries had more whipped cream than fruit. The sandwiches were quite blah. The tarts were okay, but the crust was nothing special. Cookies, gum drops? Meh. The macarons were good with a cream filling. But, the best item was the happy birthday apple tart they gave me at the end. I actually ate it the next day at home with some whipped cream, and it was delicious. Don't get me wrong, it's a memorable visit, especially at Christmas time. The windows, the giant gingerbread house, the decorations. But, don't go thinking it will be the best afternoon tea food ever. Just enjoy the overall experience.

Anything at the Grand America is just outstanding. We visited the Lobby Lounge late in the afternoon for a couple of drinks and appetizers. The menu is now very limited (after COVID) and could for sure be expended with a more comprehensive fare offering but what really makes this place stand out is the decor, the ambience, the live piano and the excellent cocktails. Kathy did an excellent job preparing exquisite cocktails. The service was attentive, timely and white glove, consistent with the Grand America. A very nice experience in a time capsule.

The lobby itself of the hotel Grand America is very palatial. Very good to have a tea for one just what I did or with groups of friends. The tea selections are good and the tea sandwiches and sweets are very delectable. This afternoon tea stand to its name the "grand"!

While staying at the Grand America, we decided to take Afternoon Tea in the lobby bar area. We made reservations for this events several weeks before arriving to ensure we could get a seat. Good thing we did, as we later learned that this is a very popular activity which sells out. The server we got was amazing... he was very friendly and explained a LOT about the Afternoon Tea, as well as about the teas the Grand America offers. He let us sample teas to make a decision. The setting is perfect for a nice, intimate tea party and the food tasted very fresh and great! For the price, it's well-worthwhile and highly recommended!

Had a fun time here at afternoon tea with a friend! The atmosphere is delightful and we had views of the courtyard. There were many pastries, desserts, and small tea sandwiches in addition to your choice of tea. It was fun to have the opportunity to try many different things but the sandwiches were just okay in my opinion. A little pricey but a fun place to go with girlfriends or family!

Great environment with assorted seating. There is always some type of music; piano, harp, or a jazz band on the weekend. The menu is limited but everything is delicious and very decently sized portions. We were staying at the hotel for our anniversary and decided to stop here for dinner instead of going out. We shared the roasted turkey sandwich and meat and cheese plate and were not disappointed by either! The staff was super attentive and the food was delicious! Give them a try for afternoon tea, cocktails, or a meal. Everything is wonderful at The Grand America.

The grand America / lobby lounge is phenomenal- we come here once a month, for a nice lunch or dinner. Our wedding will actually be held at the grand America this year! Therefore we are Super excited! The service is always superb, quick , and attentive. Food is top notch, and high quality, the view is outstanding as well with a Victorian vintage feel. If you haven't been to the grand America, you are truly missing out! Come give them a try!

Truly disappointing! This was not a $50 meal. The quality of the food, the lack of the bartender and servers' knowledge of wine, the lack of service, timing, and attention (One example...the table was wet when I sat down. I informed the server but he never dried off the table but moved the chairs away from the wet area), the noise of others' conversations (a co-worker couple on an excruciating first date), and the lack of compliance of wearing masks by customers in the lounge during a pandemic as people worked in their laptops and other activities that did not involve eating or drinking where all negative factors. I have eaten here for huge luncheons and the catering was very good but dinner this evening was the complete opposite.

We ordered through room service, I ordered 2 Short ribs because they were THAT good. Breakfast is awesome! If you order a iced vanilla coffee ask for light vanilla syrup because it's SO sweet! Can't wait to come back.

I want to come work here! The food was really good, and really expensive! Our bill was $145 for the two of us. Our server Jaxson was really knowledgeable on the menu, and really friendly. I don't think there's a bad seat in the house as all the burlesque dancers move around the space. Be prepared with some ones to tip them, but they also take Venmo. I'd love to come back!

Sad to say, I'm not quite sure what all the hype is about…read more We had to sit outside because the indoor dining room was fully booked for the show. The night actually started off great. Our server was funny, personable, and attentive, especially when it came to drinks and refills. Things started going downhill when I received my entree, the Poor Man's Truffle. Unfortunately, the only way this dish lived up to its name was in how little the supposedly high-quality ingredients seemed to come through. The dish itself is fairly simple, which normally isn't a bad thing when the ingredients are meant to speak for themselves. With Belper Knolle, truffle oil, pistachio pesto, tomato, fennel, and arugula, I expected something flavorful and well balanced. Instead, the entire dish tasted incredibly mild. Belper Knolle is typically a bold, salty, peppery cheese, and I could visibly see the black pepper around the edges of the thin shavings, but the flavor barely registered. I also couldn't taste the truffle oil at all. There was visible oil pooling at the bottom of the plate, but no noticeable truffle flavor. I understand pistachio pesto tends to be more subtle than a traditional basil pesto, but altogether, this dish just fell completely flat for me. The presentation didn't help either. It looked more like something that had been scooped from a pan and dropped onto the plate than a thoughtfully plated entree. When a dish misses both on flavor and presentation, that's when it becomes a real disappointment for me. I will say the gnocchi itself was cooked well, which was one of the few positives. I also tried the burger, and it was significantly better than my pasta. However, the very small sprinkle of bacon was a little baffling considering it was an additional upcharge. Where the night really went downhill was at the end of the meal. I had been excited to try the beignets because that isn't a dessert I see on menus very often. Our entree plates were cleared, and then we waited about 20 minutes before our server returned and asked whether we were ready for the check. Dessert wasn't mentioned, and by that point our table was tired of waiting, so we decided to skip it and asked for our checks. Then our server disappeared for another 30 minutes. We eventually had to flag down a hostess who was seating another table and let her know that we were still waiting for the check. About five minutes later, our server finally returned and casually explained how "crazy" the night had gotten because of the show. I understand restaurants get busy, but the apology felt very dismissive after we had waited nearly an hour from finishing our entrees to finally receiving the check. It genuinely felt like our table had simply been forgotten. I also want to add that I tend to hold restaurants like this to a higher standard. I'm a big believer in "you get what you pay for." If I'm eating at a fast-food spot or somewhere inexpensive and casual, there's only so much room to complain. But when a restaurant has prices like this, highlights premium ingredients on the menu, and presents itself as a more elevated dining experience, I think that naturally opens the food and service up to more criticism. At that price point, I expect the quality, presentation, and overall experience to reflect what I'm paying for. My final takeaway is that maybe I ordered the wrong dish. Pesto is one of my favorite things, so I almost always want to give a pesto-based dish a try. Unfortunately, Prohibition's pesto gnocchi was not it for me. I also saw that they describe themselves as a scratch kitchen using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, which I don't necessarily doubt. What confused me was how so many ingredients that should have distinct flavors somehow tasted like almost nothing. If your goal is interesting drinks and a fun show, this is probably still a place worth considering. Since we sat outside, I can't speak on the show part, but it seems to be a big hit. Food-wise, though, it missed the mark for me.

We started with the hanabi. Crispy rice topped with spicy tuna and avocado, finished with sliced jalapeño, micro greens, and agave soy reduction. Next we tried the aker crunch roll. Not the greatest roll we've ever had, but definitely better quality than sushi at most places in Utah. I'd get it again. We then tried the toro and sablefish nigiri. The toro was great. My wife didn't want to try it and at the end of the meal said it was her favorite thing. The sablefish is good, but if you've had the sablefish at Takashi you'll be a little disappointed with this one. I would skip that next time and just get the toro. Star of the show for me was the wagyu ribeye. The steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The bone marrow butter jus and chimichurri were both great and I found myself switching between the two. I also enjoyed the carrots and polenta that came with the steak. For dessert we had the butter cake. It was good. Not as good as the one at sol agave, and I think the one we had at Felt next door was even better, but we still really enjoyed it. Service was really good and we can't wait to go back.
