I was super excited to try out a new restaurant opening on 2nd St. and this place was under construction for a while. After lots of anticipation local foods opened as a sandwich shop and I couldn't wait to try it out. My meal turned out pretty good and the sides were different than I had seen at any other restaurants so that was pretty cool. They seemed to have a healthier take on sides and overall seem like their quality of food was pretty high. The sandwich I had here is pretty good, I've definitely had better but I was satisfied with it. I can't recall exactly what I got for sides but they're really good and definitely improve the over quality of the meal. What was really great about this place was the abundance of seating and how new and large the space was. It was obviously very clean given it was brand new and definitely seem like a great place for lunch or getting some work done. The big open windows for being on the corner were a huge asset here and make this place really desirable spot to eat for environment. I'll probably try it out again! read more

This place is amazing - I could eat here for every meal. I came to Austin for a 3 week work trip, and indeed ate here for most of my lunches and dinners. The food is so fresh and so flavorful. There are a myriad of options to choose from. The portions are plentiful. The environment is spacious and bright. The customer service is impeccable - shout out to the GM especially who always checks in on how your meal is. You simply can go wrong with any of their salads or bowls, and their pozole soup. Just look at photos of their menu! I wish they would open a location in Dallas! PS - I am not the only avid Local Foods fan out there. Ok, where do I start? Fresh and clean - both the food and the decor. So good, we went there 2 days in a row when we were staying downtown over the weekend. Beautiful place with amazing service (everyone was helpful and so nice - like so happy and proud to work there). Day 1 - brunch - chilaquiles, so full of flavor and that green sauce with brisket totally blew me away. The French toast - unbelievable, citrus and sweet, I dreamed about it that night. Lots of drink selections from juices to coffees. Day 2 - the #7 , avocado toast, and lemon Bundt cake. All fresh and wonderful tasting and can tell they use amazing fresh ingredients. Great place for lunch if you work downtown! I've been to the Houston location a few times, so I was excited to hear that one in Austin was opening up! My friends from Houston were really excited for Local Foods to come to Austin and I think it lives up to the hype. I got the banh mi and the watermelon and kale as sides and my friends got the crunchy chicken sandwich. I'm picky about sandwiches and they were both very good. The space is light and airy with a lot of windows, but it's COLD inside which is super refreshing when it's 100 degrees outside. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. I'll definitely be back. I'm not sure about the parking situation and whether they validate but there's street parking on 2nd. It was a large portion as well. Came with chips and watermelon at my request, but you choose 2 sides. I ordered their drink of the day/month, and it was refreshing. I thought it would have been a little sweeter but it was still enjoyable. I ordered coffee and moved inside to the AC and it was just as enjoyable. Good background noise and music. I don't mind loser than usual background music but if that bothers you, don't work here. You may not like it. Staff is super friendly! Even took a minute to chat with the registrar. My evening at Local Foods was nothing short of orgasmic. My partner had the BLT that BLEW ME out of my chair.
