NO DOGS ALLOWED! We live in the neighborhood behind the location. We went there this morning because we were walking our dogs and thought it would be a great place to stop to get a quick bite to eat for breakfast. The first thing you see when you walk in is a sign that says "no dogs allowed", it does not even say that it excludes service animals. I thought nothing negative of it and went in to order. When walking in, the location seems very stale and almost sterile like a hospital cafeteria, it's very echo-y and "blah". After we ordered, we took our number and made sure to sit in the patio area on the other side of the sign as to not cause a problem with having dogs. As our food came one of our dogs tried to smell it and we told him "no". His nose touched the side of the table and the server made sure to quickly reprimand us and let us know that dogs are not allowed to touch the tables. I always thought it was odd that they opened so late, because so many people in the neighborhood walk their dogs in the mornings and it would be a great place to grab a coffee to take on our walk. Now it makes sense and I understand that dog owners are not the clientele they are looking for. We will just stick to Starbucks to get our coffee and get our pups a pup-cup. A Hidden Gem with Space to Breathe and Baked Goods to Crave This open-air bakery is a breath of fresh air--literally. The layout is spacious, with plenty of room between the front counter and tables so you never feel crowded, which really adds to the relaxed vibe. The bread? A+. I tried both the golden loaf and the cheese bread--soft, flavorful, and perfectly baked. Bonus points for asking if you'd like it sliced. The almond croissant is dangerously good. Flaky, light, with just the right touch of caramelized sweetness. Honestly, it's probably a good thing I don't live nearby or I'd be grabbing one every morning. The oatmeal cookie was a surprise hit--thin, crisp on the edges, chewy in the middle, with a unique flavor that reminded me a bit of sesame. Really memorable. Turmeric latte was the only miss. It lacked flavor, wasn't hot enough, and didn't live up to the rest of the experience. I'd skip it next time. Service was exceptional. You know what bugs me? You order ahead but they don't make the latte (or whatever coffee drink) until you get there which totally defeats ordering ahead. I don't want to wait. If I get there and it's cold, that's on me. Also, my latte (ironically) wasn't hot enough and only filled about 3/4 full! 4 stars for the croissant. read more

S took me here for brunch and because he had seen it highly recommended on social media. Luckily, it was also a quick drive from our place. I will note that we came on a Saturday afternoon - kind of important because according to another regular customer, it means that there are items available to purchase as it is Shabbat. We ordered an avocado toast and a shakshuka. Weirdly, the avocado toast was a bit bland and while the sliced beets are cute, it didn't add any much needed flavor. The shakshuka was on the sweeter side. The bread was good to dip. I will say that Lodge's shining star is that their house made bread loaves and HUMMUS is amazing. It makes up for their food menu. We both agreed that next time we come, we are definitely purchasing more hummus. Even though there is a high price, I haven't come across another hummus as good as theirs. read more

The location is cute and the staff are friendly. However, the kitchen seems to be a mess. I paid $20 for a breakfast sandwich, eggs scrambled. When I got home, I noticed that the bread was untoasted, and there was no mayo or cheese in it as indicated on the menu. It was just cold bread, arugula, fried egg (not scrambled), and avocado. No seasoning whatsoever. Also they forgot to put the pastries I paid for in the bag although it was checked off. The manager addressed the issue and was helpful, which was the one positive thing. ENORMOUS portions- yes it was a $35 breakfast with just 2 pastries and a sandwich, no drinks, but everything was almost double the size you would normally get elsewhere and the quality is 10-star. Young, yet very good, team at this Lodge Bread Beverly Hills location. The coffee is good. Food is good, yet inconsistent. The same cookie can be crispy one day, chewy the next, sweet one day, super sweet the next. Between the staff and customers, the restaurant is kept clean. When Lodge Bread owners built out this spot, they eschewed acoustic tiles. And, apparently, they think their restaurant is actually the site of an open-air rock concert. Here is the text of an email message I recently sent to them. (I have received no response.) Dear Gentlemen and Ladies, I write to you about a phenomenon which I refer to as "sound momentum." I'm sure there is a better phrase to describe it, but "sound momentum" is what I have so far. Sound momentum comes to mind because, during the afternoon of Monday, April 28th, the manager of the Beverly Hills Lodge Bread restaurant was SCREAMING at two photographers (two very attractive women) who were there to arrange some public relations event for Lodge Bread. The two women were SCREAMING back at the manager. By the way, they were communicating with each other in a very friendly manner. By way of further background, (i) we (i.e., the 3 of them and me) were the only people in the restaurant's separate front area (i.e., the area fronting Robertson Boulevard) and, other than the sound of my swallowing coffee, no sound was emanating from my table. If the other 3 had also been silent, the only thing that would have been heard in the front area would have been merely the background music that was BLASTING away. Sound momentum is present in all modern day restaurants, what with all their hard surfaces that are not interrupted by any sound-absorbing surfaces. If we have a restaurant with 10 tables in its space, and only tables 2 and 4 occupied, each with 3 customers having separate conversations at their respective tables, sound momentum arises as follows. With the folks at table 2 having a conversation, the sound level in the restaurant is obviously higher than if the restaurant were empty. The folks at table 4 reflexively raise their voices above what they would have used if the restaurant were only occupied by them. Immediately, in turn, the folks at table 2 raise their voices, and then, again, so do the folks at table 4, and we have a sound momentum feedback loop. Of course, the sound level of the feedback loop starts at a higher level if there is background music. If a restaurateur is looking for a high turnover rate, sound momentum is a feature. On the other hand, if the restaurateur cares for the comfort of his or her customers, sound momentum is a very serious bug. For me, the best volume level for background music in a restaurant is that level which would be barely audible to a single occupant of the otherwise empty space of the restaurant. I have been to many of your locations and have always been very pleased with your food until today. At your Beverly Hills location, I had ordered a shakshuka because I was looking for something warm on a cold, rainy day. I had specifically asked if it was hot. For my To Go order, what I received was Baked Eggs which was what was indicated on my receipt. Of course, I didn't notice the error because when I paid, I should have looked at the receipt closely but it was clearly not what I had wanted to eat. I told the manager, Devon, who was the one that took my order and he basically told me, NO. It didn't matter if that's what I wanted, I would have to keep the Baked Eggs. And pay for the Shakshuka if that's what I wanted. I told him that's not what I ordered but they told me I would have to pay for it even though I didn't want the Baked Eggs since that's what is on the receipt. I strongly believe this was disappointing on the part of your manager. I told him it was not what I wanted and I had asked about the Shakshuka not the Baked Eggs and had specifically asked if it would be hot. I am quite disappointed with the Customer Service because in past visits both to your Culver City and Woodland Hills stores I have always had exceptional service with your staff and managers going around to all the tables making sure everything was to your customer's satisfaction. In addition, when I picked up To Go Order, Devon, had forgotten to put the loaf of bread that I had also ordered in my bag. I had to remind him that I had ordered the loaf also and it was not in my To Go Bag. Unfortunately, the quality of the Customer Service was significantly below what I have been accustomed to on previous occasions. read more

I absolutely love coming here! I found out about this place because of the charging station right next to it. And it happens to be pretty close to my job. The service is so great! They always come out and ask if what I ordered tastes okay. This place is so cute! And has so much seating outside. Everything is always served fresh and you could even watch them make your food! Lodge Bread is new to the neighborhood so I took a nice walk on a Saturday morning to check it out . I got a vanilla latte and a cardamom bun. The space is bright and the menu offers multiple food options - all the bread and pastries looked delicious. While I enjoyed the cardamom bun, I was a bit saddened by my latte. I asked for it half sweet - and if that's half sweet, I can't imagine what regular sweet is like ! It was way too sweet for my liking . Worth checking out for the pastries forsure . Will have to figure out why my latte was so overwhelmingly sweet . read more

I want to preface the review with the fact that this is based on a to go order only. I haven't eaten in any of the locations. Although, I intend to now! I'm not sure why it's taking me so long to actually try Lodge bread. I've always heard it was great and bread is my weakness. Ironically we didn't order anything with bread ... well pita but still. If you follow any of my other reviews, you know I own a dog hiking company and we spend a lot of time driving in the car. My assistant and I get lunch once a week. I treat her to any place she wants to try. We're always looking for something "healthy " And she eats mostly vegetarian food. Today was Lodge bread. My assistant got the chopped salad with tuna added vegan Caesar dressing. I got the Fat Pita sandwich! The chop salad was huge. The picture doesn't do it justice. She said the Caesar dressing was amazing and she'll be craving it. The fat pita sandwich was exactly that. Stuffed completely full. The cauliflower was cooked dressed perfectly still slightly al dente. There were roasted mini tomatoes, chickpeas , just a ton of veggies. The tahini is amazing and I'm very picky. Their house hot sauces are definitely crave worthy. If you go, make sure you get extra of the green. Don't quote me on it, but I'm pretty sure they make their own pita there. It was the best I've ever had! I've had homemade pita before that was this fluffy, but it was not cooked completely through. It's hard to explain without you tasting it yourself.... So you should go do that! It was fluffy and soft, but fully cooked with little hidden pieces of salt in the right places.we ordered online and the ordering process was super easy. They are reasonably priced, and I believe have promos running quite often. The food was bagged and ready when we went to pick it up, and my assistant said the gentleman who helped her inside was very sweet and accommodating with our request for extra sauce for everything! Lodge Bread is a little daytime cafe. I've tried the fat pita sandwich, falafel sandwich, and a cardamom bun. Fat pita and falafel sandwiches are incredible, but the cardamom bun was just ok. Not as soft as you'd get at a Swedish bakery. I've never actually dined inside (only takeout) but the service is very fast and friendly. Needed some quality sourdough so I came here. They have a full menu with delicious and fresh items. Their bread is crusty and soft in the middle. Their pastries are absolutely incredibly delicious. I loved Hasiba and was sad when I heard they were closing and becoming Lodge Bread. Luckily Lodge still has some of my faves (like the mushroom hummus) and more! The Shakshuka was my husband's go to and it's still here, though it now comes with bread instead of pita. I've tried their avocado toast, which is beautiful, but the Fat Pita is even better! It's stuffed with cauliflower, chickpeas, greens, tomatoes, chermoula, tahini, pickled raisins, garlic and herbs and served in the same wonderful pita bread as before. I was disappointed that they didn't bring back the Sabich, but I think I like the Fat Pita even more (especially since it's healthier). Service is good. Been here a few times, love the baked goods. The sandwiches are pricey, but it is Beverly Hills, and the portions are enormous - definitely should be split with two people. The foccacia on my sandwich was really airy and crispy my first visit, but on the second visit didn't have that same texture at all. Wondering what happened, but overall I love coming here.
