If you want to bring back some pleasant childhood memories, stop by 5 star burger and get yourself a Captain Crunch Shake. On their own, the shakes here are already good, but this one will bring you back to watching Saturday morning cartoons on the floor in your pjs while some of your captain crunch gets mushy in the bowl. It's delicious and nostalgic. Better yet, add it to a combo for just a few bucks when you get any one of the tasty burgers they offer here. I love their western burger. The bbq sauce is thinner than most places but it has a nice zing to it. I would also recommend upgrading to their curly fries, which have a really good seasoning on them. Honestly, I don't know what took me so long to write this review...too on the nose maybe because Five Star Burgers literally is 5 stars!

If you are looking for a great place to grab a burger this is the place. My favorite is their signature Five Star Burger and fries. It consists of 3 patties and all the fixings and it will definitely fill you up. The burger is wrapped nicely and it doesn't fall apart as you eat it. The crinkle cut fries are always crispy and seasoned well. They offer a variety of cereal milkshakes. My favorite is the Captain Crunch Shake. The workers are friendly and nice and the interior has a diner type vibe. You wont be disappointed.

The first time I came here I just got a regular cheeseburger from the drive through. I wasn't impressed. There are about a million places to get an over cooked burger. But since this place pretends to specialize in burgers, I thought maybe I'd get a thick juicy burger. The second time around I wanted to try their fish and chips. They look good on the menu. However what I got didn't resemble the photo on the menu at all. The fish didn't seem to be battered. It looks like they took very old frozen fish and put it directly into the fryer. I could tell it was old because was tough and chewy like things tend to get when they have freezer burn. The crinkle cut fries were fairly standard. When a dish comes with extra stuff, I really appreciate it if I'm asked wether or not I want it, or if I want something else instead. This came with a couple slices of lemon which more or less made things soggy, a couple servings of tartar sauce, and a handful of ketchup packets. All I really wanted was some cocktail sauce, but they didn't have any, despite it being on the menu. So I stopped to get some at the grocery store on my way home. I would have preferred my order to not include those other things because it's just a waste, since I just threw them all out. The guy that took my order was friendly though. I just don't see a reason for yet another ok at best burger place.

We have been pretty darn happy with the burgers each time we go here. Probably need to check out more of the menu but it's hard when you find something that you like lol

It's a total dive (we love these kinds of places) Loved the burger, loved the taquitos. Not the best interior, but again most dives are that way, so that is the reason I'll dock it a star... but they have definitely cleaned up this restaurant from the previous place that was here. The gal that helped us was so sweet and accommodating. We are looking forward to returning and trying something else on their menu.

A very sparse portion of a Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. Look at all the uncovered roll!!

Had a #3 and deep fried zucchini. Best burger I have had in a long time. Tons of flavor.

Wow. SQZ Burger has been open for nearly three years in Lodi and I never noticed it. I know I've…read moredriven past it many times, but I guess their signage is too modest compared to the huge "IDOL BEER WORKS" on the other end of the building. I figured it was just another iteration of the original (now long gone) Squeeze Inn in Sacramento, and I was right. I don't think the various locations are franchises, but are more likely independently owned, and the quality varies from location to location. The one that used to be in West Sac, for instance, was terrible, which might explain why it's been gone for years. And the mid-town was also a resounding MEH, and also gone. There's nothing at any version of Squeeze Inn/Burger that I want more than just a basic Squeeze (or in this case, SQZ) with Cheese, though. I don't want a taco, nor a BLT, and especially not chicken strips. I want that which made the brand famous. A cheeseburger with all the traditional toppings and a cheese skirt just dripping cheese grease off it. SQZ Burger delivers the goods. The cheese skirt was just the right size, not too big, not too small. At one point in my life I would have said that there's no such thing as a cheese skirt that's too big, but a couple of years ago I had a cheese skirt that was so big that I felt sick afterward from all the cheese grease! In addition to the just right amount of cheese, the burger had lettuce, tomato, pickles, red onion, and a healthy schmear of mayo and mustard. Damn near a perfect burger. The owner was running the register on my visit, and when she brought my food out, she asked if I wanted a side of ranch. I'm the kind of guy who would drink ranch dressing if I could, so of course I accepted. I didn't even ask - It was nice of her to offer! There's a throughline from the original Squeeze Inn on Power Inn Road to SQZ Burger, too. The father of the husband half of the H/W ownership team owned the original location. Brandon and Katie ran the Galt location for several years, and have now brought the goodness to a Lodi brick and mortar spot. I'll definitely be back.

I had the western bacon cheeseburger with fries and a strawberry shake. These burger was full of flavor and BIG! Not sure exactly how they make their fries, but they're amazing. And my strawberry shake was good also. We had about 45 people all land at the same time, and SQZ was able to quickly get us all served in short order. I do love the vibe of both SQZ & IDOL. It was a nice little drive both ways with an epic food stop in between.

Bad: Their "Kobe" burger was $29 or so and was a good portion size. The problem? Lacking any kind of flavor or seasoning. The beef was flavorless. The stroganoff was a good portion size but again it was severely lacking in the seasoning department. Good: Those who ordered the corn soup and the porcini mushroom ravioli enjoyed them. They especially enjoyed the sauce from the ravioli. The desserts overall were enjoyed by the table. The sticky toffee pudding, while not as rich as we are used to, was still relatively good; soft and moist enough. The dark chocolate oblong with mango passion fruit was enjoyed by everyone too. The interior remains unchanged; like a classy London gastropub. Service: communication is key. Where they dropped the ball was that we mentioned on the reservation that we were there for Father's Day and prime rib, which they do on Sundays. As you walk in you even see the sign for the prime rib special. We sat down and the server mentioned that there was no prime rib this weekend. I had even chatted with them on the reservation app and they made no mention of this. We could have gone somewhere else had we known in advanced. Our server was relatively nice too.

Now was a good as time as any! As we entered, there was a sign to meet at the bar for seating. The waitress/server came out after a bit of a wait and according to my friend, it's usually a longer wait time around lunch for someone to come out and seat you. I was recommended to try the pork schnitzel by my friend and it did not disappoint. I got my sandwich with a side salad. We also ordered the deviled eggs to share. My friend has never had the deviled eggs before and pleasantly surprised and delighted that the eggs were absolutely delicious. They're very smooth, eggs were cooked perfectly and the touch of bacon was just right. It does come with a small helping of mixed greens topped with pickled onions. The pork schnitzel was crispy & crunchy due to the breaded pork loin, came with pickled onions, slaw and the chipotle aioli sauce. The sauce does have a bit of a kick to it but it wasn't too spicy, well, at least for me. My salad was very good too. It was colorful and had an interestingly tangy dressing on it. It paired well with the sandwich. One was spicy and the salad was tangy but refreshing. My friend also ordered the pork schnitzel with beef tallow fries. I tried some of her fries and they were thin but still crispy. Overall the food at West Oak Nosh was so good and delicious! Service was good, prompt and our server was attentive despite being by herself. I think this place is great for the summer to have a drink and eat. Will have to come back for the drinks!
