We were craving steak, and after reading the reviews, we decided to give LongHorn a try. I agree with a lot of what other reviewers have said. This is a totally decent steak for a very reasonable price, especially compared with a lot of the other chain dinner options around Austin. The meat quality was better than I expected for the price, and the flavor was good. Everything came out fast, too. I also like that every steak comes with a choice of two sides, and there are plenty of lighter options in addition to the usual potatoes, mac and cheese, and other heavier steakhouse sides. The service was honestly the standout. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, from the host at the front to our server, and we felt very well taken care of throughout the meal. We are not up this far north very often, so I do not know how frequently we will be back. Longhorn steakhouse is in the La Frontera shopping district. It's an attractive building with an attractive interior conducive to a cozy lunch or dinner with your wife or girlfriend. Wife and I arrive for lunch and we're immediately seated in a booth. Our waitress came to the table and introduced herself and took our drink orders. When she returned, I ordered a ribeye steak, medium with a baked potato, Caesar salad, salad, and a glass of house red. My wife ordered a small fillet with a baked potato. The food arrived promptly and was prepared has ordered. Our steaks were done perfectly, the baked potato was also very good as was the Caesar salad I ordered. We had a NY strip, ribeye and sirloin- lobster chowder, house salad, Cesar salad, fries, mushrooms and baked potato. I'm going to age myself here and say this took me back to the days of sizzler. This place was exactly what I expected, decent steak and reasonable prices. The strip and ribeye were good all the steaks were cooked perfectly. The sirloin was lackluster didn't have any seasoning. The sides were all decent. And at around $100 total plus tip for 3 people it's not bad. If you are thinking all the steaks are flame grilled they are not so make sure you ask before ordering but all in all pretty decent. Had a really great experience at Longhorn steakhouse from the time we entered until the time we were seated, the customer service was amazing. It wasn't very busy so it was a nice buzz, but it wasn't loud inside of the restaurant . Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu. She even went above and beyond making a ginger beer for the table. We ordered the kids meals so that they came out early, and they wanted the steak with grapes. Both kids really enjoyed their meal and enjoyed buttering their own bread. The bread was fresh. She also brought a fresh loaf when dinner arrived. I'm so glad they brought the lamb chops back because they were incredible! I seriously want to go back and get another plate. It paired very well with the sweet potato. Took a client here for lunch last week and really enjoyed our lunch experience here. We both got the filet mignon and it was cooked exactly how we asked for it. I'm a medium kinda guy and it was the perfect amount of pink. Flavor was great, it was seasoned really well, and our service was good even as they were navigating the lunch rush with a limited amount of servers. Love the decor of this place and it wasn't super loud in there even with a packed house. Would absolutely come back again. Who doesn't love a good steak!! We haven't been to a LongHorn Steakhouse in ages, but we were hankerin' for a good hunk of beef so we thought we'd give this location a try. The restaurant is in the LaFrontera shopping district so there's a variety of stores and restaurants nearby. We arrived early (about 5:15 pm) so it was not very busy. We were seated promptly. We were a little concerned about our server who seemed a bit harried; it looked like they were understaffed and he was covering a lot of tables. Not to worry, our drink orders and food came out promptly. Fresh bread and butter arrived first, followed by our Caesar salads, which are a large portion item at LongHorn with plenty of salad and shaved Parmesan cheese. These were actually good. Main course consisted of a ribeye steak and the cowboy pork chops. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare and the pork chops were just right, cooked enough to eliminate the pink but not the juice. The price for two dinners was extremely reasonable as well. Just got home from Longhorn's, we went there for my wife's birthday. She loves the steaks, I have liked or loved everything I've tried in the past. My wife's ribeye was great, but she thinks she was supposedd to get a side salad which she did not get with the meal. She only got one side. I've never ordered a cheeseburger before so I tried it. I ased for medium but it was kinda dry. There was no flavor, I was expecting them to put their famous "prarie dust" they use on steaks, but it was void of seasoning, not juicy. Lots of fries that were very good though. The waitress brought our food and we never saw her again during our meal. No drink refills were offered. Everywhere else offers drink refills. Service was never this bad in the past. We've dined here many times over the years. My wife said the couple next to us didn't get refills either. He finally asked and she brought them one ice tea, and nothing for his wife/date. I've never seen this before. Also when we order take out, they always leave out a salad or something. No one took my drink order until the manager noticed and took care of it himself -- which I appreciated. I ordered the lemon chicken, but I'm not sure the kitchen is doing any quality control. But now let's talk about the food, for the price you are paying, i would have expected an exactly perfect cook temp and juicy steak. To be honest, the primary reason we came here was because I had a $25 gift card which I discovered basically covered the tip. I also had plenty of time to read all the post Covid reviews, but somehow yelpers left out the fact this place has no frozen drinks nor any locally made craft beer. Nonetheless "the perfect" margarita and the Shiner seemed to suffice. We got here for a very late lunch and well before the dinner rush, so there only a few patrons. Most of the seating here is in booths which adds to the intimacy and there's only two flat screens at the bar which is well stocked. After ordering our two entrées, we were offered a loaf of their warm wheat bread and butter. Our two steaks came out exactly the way we ordered them. Keep in mind, the quality of the steaks are pretty much your average grocery store select brand, but they do have an aged steak for twice as much. Our entrées seemed a little bit high on the sodium scale and the baked potato rolled in kosher salt added more to it. The best side seemed to be the brussels sprouts ($2.79 extra) which were smoky and flavorful. We finished the meal off by splitting a strawberries and cream shortcake which was exceedingly moist. When it's time to settle up, you won't be faced with a handheld device with a recommended tip. Our server Matthew was very attentive and helpful as were the other staff we encountered. I came into the restaurant alone on a busy Saturday night, totally understanding that it might take a little while to get service. I noticed an open seat at the bar and decided to take it. It looked like someone had just left -- their drink, food, napkin, and bill were all still sitting there. I didn't expect immediate attention, but I also didn't expect to be completely overlooked. I sat there for 20 minutes without anyone greeting me, clearing the spot, or even acknowledging I was there. At one point, the bartender came over to the person next to me to close out their tab. I figured I'd be next -- but after ringing them out, she walked away without saying a word. It was honestly disappointing. A simple "Hey, I'll be right with you" would've made a big difference. The steak was cooked well, and the potatoes tasted good. It was nice to see that they are made from scratch.  The salad was boring; however, the vegetables were fresh. The baked potato was large and came with the standard cheese, bacon, sour cream, and onions. It was cooked well and tasted good. The bread was fresh but didn't seem right for this meal. Every time you pulled a piece, it crushed. Nothing to butter. I think had we eaten there and not taken it home, I would have given 4 stars. It was good enough to try again. It's a 10 minute drive back to our home so by the time the food arrived, it wasn't hot any longer. The pros: the shrimp appetizer was fantastically seasoned and a nice portion. My MiL ate it as her entree. I would recommend this dish. It had roasted bell peppers and some spicy ones tossed into it. If you don't eat the peppers, the shrimp isn't spicy on it's own but still very flavorful. I loved the punch of spice of eating it together. The child burger entree was quite possibly the best kid meal portion I've ever seen. I really didn't see much difference between it and the adult burger. It came with a choice of side and child drink. Our kiddo chose a sweet potato as side and it came with cinnamon sugar butter. He loved it. Our older kiddo had the buttermilk chicken sandwich (adult menu) but didn't enjoy it. He said it was dry and flavorless. I didn't try it so repeating what he shared. He said the photo made it look good so he wanted to try it but wish he hadn't. They may have forgotten to put a sauce or dressing on it. We ordered 3 of their 1/2 lb burgers. They were decent but they were most definitely well done so the meat wasn't pink or very juicy. I was bummed by that. They were ordered medium. They packed everything VERY well. Each sandwich had its own little side package of vegetables, they provided condiments and the meals were correct and packed with care. It wasn't the best experience due to the temperature of the food, overcooked burgers, forgetting the sauce (so the chicken sandwich was dry) and adding ice to the drink when it said no ice) but it was good enough for us to try again at some point. Don't sleep on LongHorn Steakhouse! I've been here several times for lunch and even ordered pickup a few times. You can call and talk to a real person *wink* or place an order online. A lot of places nowadays won't give you the option to call to place an order so that's a plus!!! The food has never been a disappointment. We've been going to the other 2 of the "big three" chain steakhouses for the past few years. Almost without fail, their steaks have lots of gristle and that takes the fun out of a steak dinner. I've been reading that only Longhorn never freezes their meat and has consistently good quality cuts. So we made the drive up to RR and we were very pleasantly surprised to have really great steaks that were tender and gristle free. The ambiance is much nicer and the service was excellent as well. We cleaned our plates and decided to top it off with dessert. The Chocolate Stampede was HUGE and delicious! Two nice pieces of decadent chocolate cake served with two big scoops of yummy vanilla bean ice cream. We were stuffed but happy and came home with leftover cake for dessert the next day. I had never had their okra but it was deep fried whole instead of cut into pieces! It was a little salty but still very tasty. Ribs were wonderful as well. So the last two times I came in, dining alone, I was seated at the table in the back right by the kitchen. Both times there were lots of other tables available. I get the impression that Longhorn does not like single diners. That's fine. I understand that they make more money on full tables. I have seen this place all over but never tried it until this day. Went here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the food offering. Lunch menu was limited with tool food options.
