Fresh, delicious, friendly, great variety, not a big restaurant but very comfortable. Worth leaving Sebastopol for!

Coming from the Colorado Rockies region I'm used to sausage burritos. I know they are not traditional, but then again breakfast burritos in general were started by Mexicans in Colorado. The ranchers breakfast of bacon or sausage and eggs was put in sandwich form to rush to work early in the morning, and the famous Denver omelette is a testament to the popularity of big breakfasts in the area. The taquerias in Colorado began to make breakfast in burrito form, and today many food trucks and places like Qdoba in Colorado serve large breakfast burritos, typically with a choice of sausage, chorizo, or bacon. In the greater Bay Area I've found it difficult to find breakfast burritos with sausage, as most are chorizo only. I live in Berkeley but was planning on visiting Santa Rosa today and wanted to find the best breakfast burrito in town with sausage, and online I found a menu which said sausage was a choice. When I got there, however, I was informed that sausage was not a choice. I am used to that now, but I was a little bit sad after driving all the way there. I asked if they do bacon and he said yes and put bacon and chorizo in. Despite my disappointment, I was very pleasantly surprised...and I guess a little converted! This surpassed my expectations and is by far the best chorizo breakfast burrito I've had, and I definitely plan to get it again next time I'm in town - with both bacon and chorizo lol. It's official. I love this place. Been a few times now and I find myself wanting to go back more than I should. I primarily stick to burritos, but I've tried various meats and they are always great. I'm not usually a fan of salsa verdes but theirs is amazing. Staff is always friendly. I've never dined in the restaurant (I'm a takeout person) and I'm always welcomed with a smile and never have had to wait long for my food. Best California burrito in Northern California!! Super friendly staff, and unbelievable food

Maybe I am doing it all wrong. Being a transplant from the east coast, I had very limited exposure to Mexican food in my younger days. I am now relying on my taste buds to tell me what good Mexican food is. It is not my style to go against the flow of glowing reviews but our meals the other day (in my honest opinion), were more than underwhelming. This was due in no small part to the salsa. Rightly or wrongly, I use salsa to flavor everything that I eat from tacos to enchiladas. As a result, if the salsa doesn't taste right, then the taco or enchilada wouldn't either. We found out that Los Arcos' salsa was made from 5 different peppers sans tomatoes. Then there was also a light green minty looking salsa, which I believe was an avocado salsa that was described by a knowledgeable and respectable yelp friend as " outta this world!" Pardon me; both salsas tasted offensive! It had the taste of freshly cut grass or hay! I was so distraught that I forgot to take their pics! To start off, I started with a lengua taco ($3.25) and my companion a fish taco ($3.95). I can honestly say I have eaten quite a few lengua and fish tacos. Without first tasting the salsa, we poured both kinds of salsa liberally on our tacos. The repulsive salsa taste totally destroyed whatever flavors in the lengua and the fish. Short of wiping the salsa off, there was no way we could handle more than 2 bites. Moving to our mains, I ordered the Burrito Loco ($10.95) stuffed with grilled chicken, carnitas, pastor, shredded beef, carne asada and the works. Against my better judgment, I tried eating the burrito without salsa and it was just not the same. The meats all tasted dry and lacked oomph! The other main was Camarones ala Diablo ($13.95) or Mexican Deviled Shrimps. This dish was beautifully presented with 6 shrimps, sides of rice and beans and the dish put out some heat. The fire in this saucy shrimp dish came from tomatillos, onions and red-hot sauce. Alas, we just couldn't escape from the ubiquitous grassy odor and flavor, which was also prevalent in the Diablo sauce. The rice was fine and so were the beans. Even the shrimps were fine after the diablo sauce was wiped off. Where was the stellar service the other yelpers were raving about? My server was as lackadaisical as can be. No smiles, unhelpful and she once asked how we were doing but walked away even before she finished asking! She did notice the food was barely eaten but never occurred to her to ask why. Coupled with the off-putting salsa, the less than memorable food, I am being more than generous by rating Los Arcos with 2 stars. read more

Al pastor!! Super friendly service! Beans to go with your chips (and a salsa bar)! Seriously - I don't think I've ever had such friendly service from a "walk up and order at the counter" type taqueria - though of course you can also sit down and get a menu here too. Because of all the great reviews, I thought I would check this Mexican restaurant out. I was hoping for exceptionally flavorful food, but was hugely disappointed. Everything was bland. My family and I ordered: a mar y Tierra burrito ( shrimp and steak), a shredded chicken burrito, a shrimp cocktail (6 shrimp), and two fish tacos. Sorry to say that everything was incredibly bland. It was underseasoned, meaning it lacked salt. I understand that it's healthier to not have salt in food, but when I splurge on eating out, I want FLAVOR! The pluses: The restaurant owners were very friendly, they come over to the table to refill your drinks for free, and they offer a small cup of beans to dip your chips in. I might try this place again, as there are so many great reviews, but honestly, there are several other places to go: 1) El Charro - great everything 2) Chevy's (great fajitas) 3) El Favorito (great drive-thru - with tasty food) 4) Las Palma (a clean dive with good food) 5) Taqueria Molcajete - my favorite place for authentic Mexican Try it out for yourselves. Food is good. Mexican food in Santa Rosa is pretty consist to- but Los Arcos food is cleaner and more options for a healthy meal. The thing that puts this restaurant above the other Mexican places is the customer service. Good food + great customer service = win win. read more

Visiting from out of state and we decided to try out Los Arcos. The food was AMAZING and they offered many gluten free options. You can tell they put lots of love into their food. Great food. Friendly service. Really enjoyed the salsa. Ordered the loco burrito, which came with 4 kinds of meat. Fiance got some tacos. Al pastor and carnitas were our favorites. Only downside is there isn't much seating or atmosphere, although you can sit outside. Definitely coming back. EDIT (11/7/17): Catering! We enjoyed the food so much, my wife and I decided to have Los Arcos cater two events around our wedding: the welcome dinner (90 people) and the farewell brunch (70 people). To set everything up we met with Chris (the owner?) to discuss the menu. We wanted to do a taco bar for the dinner, so he provided suggestions on what to serve and gave us samples of everything we wanted to try (we chose shredded chicken and al pastor). The price he quoted us per head was very reasonable. When it came time to pick up the food, Chris had everything ready to go in catering hot boxes, with all the serving utensils and sides in trays. Dinner went off without a hitch, and we got LOTS of compliments about the food. Our out-of-town guests were really impressed by the quality and flavor (and they were mostly Californians familiar with Mexican food). Top marks all around. However, after dinner we had a bit of a disaster. We loaded up all the catering equipment to return to the restaurant, but the stuff wasn't secured well enough and came loose on the drive back to the restaurant, falling off the back of the truck. All the catering equipment was COMPLETELY DESTROYED. Since this was our wedding weekend and since Los Arcos was going to be catering our farewell brunch the next day, my wife-to-be and I were very concerned that the brunch wouldn't happen. No need for concern though, Chris was able to locate replacement equipment quickly and the brunch went off perfectly. We obviously paid for all the equipment we destroyed, and were so incredibly grateful to Chris for performing perfectly after we destroyed all of his stuff. I really can't say enough good things about the folks at Los Arcos. They went out of their way to make sure our events went off perfectly, even after we destroyed their equipment. We come here often because of the service & fresh ingredients. Tonight was no different. My husband had the 'Chris'' burrito; packed with fresh veggies, shrimp & chicken. I had the enchilada/taco combo. My enchilada was pork carnitas , & the taco was Carne asada & included beans, rice, pico as well as sour cream & lettuce. Both plates were filled generously. I called about 3 places this morning to see if anyone would be able to cater to 35+ people at Spaulding McCullough & Tansil law firm for lunch today and this was the only place who was able to do a big order for us. I have to say they did an awesome job making sure we had enough food to feed about 35 people. I called in around 9:00am asking if food can be ready for pick up about 11:45am. I wish I had taken some pics of the food but I placed an order for Carne Asada tacos with rice, beans, chips, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, cheese with cilantro and onions. I can say the whole firm is very happy with Los Arcos and how much food they made for us on a day like this when everyone in town is just getting power back from a big power outage. I googled the best nachos in Santa Rosa and this is the place that came up. They did not disappoint, they use a shredded white cheese which was great and top it with your choice of meat. I got shredded beef and my wife got carbe asada.. They were both amazing. My son got a child's quesadilla with rice and beans and the smell of the rice filling my car was so good I had to steal a bite. Also, the service was top notch. When the waitress brought the food out, she opened and presented each item to ask if it was to my liking. Totally recommend this place! read more

Discovered this Mexican restaurant quite by accident because of the location in the shopping center surrounded by lots of other chains and drug stores grocery stores at Cetra I guess I had never really noticed it. I was getting my nails done a few businesses away and was super hungry. Was really craving Mexican food in there it was right in front of me LOL! Super impressed with the customer service never in my life that I got into a Mexican restaurant ever wear immediately I was welcomed given his seat given the chips and beans told where the salsa bar was given napkins and then the owner waved at me. As I was sitting there observing the running of the business I was so impressed by everything a customer that walked in the door was greeted by the owner and a lot of them were regulars and he knew them by name wow! I ordered the enchilada and taco plate and just got some ice water with a slice of lime the water didn't taste weird funky or like it has bleach in it as I have an experience at other places and ended up having to buy bottled water. My food came out super fast the temperature was right the portions were just write the owner came and talk with me and also tell me they had a Facebook page and that they had Wi-Fi and asked if he could take my picture and I said of course you can I'm going to write a review about you on Yelp LOL! He said that his business is mostly grown by word-of-mouth and customer satisfaction and I can see that to be the truth I will definitely be bringing my family to this little hidden gem in Santa Rosa. read more

Finally, finally, finally! -- we've discovered a great Mexican restaurant in Santa Rosa. Although, it's obvious, many others discovered it long before us. It's not surprising they've been the top Mexican restaurant in SR, per Yelp, for the last 6 years. I'm a big carnitas fan and theirs are possibly the best I've ever had. Perfectly double-cooked and luscious. I had them on a sope for lunch and in "Mexican fried rice" (not on the menu but you really should ask for it) for breakfast. My wife had a chimichanga with carnitas; cooked with a wonderful crispy outside. The sope, by the way, was tender with just the right amount of crispiness on its edges; topped generously with beans, the carnitas, cheese, crema and a good amount of yummy guacamole. The rellenos are house-made on the spot and big and cheesy and tasty. I'm drooling again as I write this! My wife had the Papas con Huevos for breakfast. Chris, the owner, cooks a perfect egg. The rice is excellent. Delicate (as a side dish it should not overwhelm the other items on the plate) yet flavorful in its own right. Mexican rice is such a simple thing to cook and easy to get right; I just don't understand why other Mexican restaurants make bland or odd-tasting rice. For those who lean toward "no meat - no dairy - no oil," they have a worthwhile and interesting "McDougall Menu." Service, especially from the owner Christobal, is as friendly and helpful as can be. My one very minor complaint: they serve a small dish of beans, topped with cheese, with their chips (there's also a self-serve salsa bar at the counter). It would be nice if they could serve it hot rather than cold or room-temperature. Note that this is a really small place. Six tables, two of which have but two chairs each. Two more small tables outside. It seems to be a serious take-out place which, I think, the locals have discovered as there were plenty of comings and goings both times we were there. Parking, too, is limited directly out front but it's a short walk to parking slots in the bigger parking area. read more

We talked for a long time and they didn't try to shoo us out. Food was fast, fresh and tasty. Restaurant was small, but clean and well lit. Bathroom was stocked and clean. Been here twice. Its pretty good but I haven't been "wow"ed. Salsa is meh, okay flavor, no spice. The chips could use to be fresher/warm. The al pasotor and carne asada are dope, but their lengua is to squshy for me. I prefer it cooked crispier. I have a personal vendetta against ruce in burritos- its just filler. My only exception to that is their monster burrito. Which is a monster. I apprechiate that they didn't just stuff the thing rice even though it was included. Service was astoundingly good. Love the gals in here- super personable. Casual atmosphere. Wish the salsa bar was more acceptable but over all would have no problem eating here again. read more

I always get their veggie burrito and ask for it spicy. Always consistent. I've been to other places that will accidentally put meat in my food but this has never occurred here. The owner is really friendly and the food is great! I would recommend their spicy avocado salsa! read more
