UGH. I ordered here specifically because it was close to me, I was very hungry and hoping to get a meal quickly. I ordered delivery online, but my order was mistakenly put in as "take out" by the cashier, and therefore took about an hour and a half to get to me after I called asking about it. Okay, annoying, but whatever. The cashier was apologetic, and told me and said he would include coupons with my order. Nice gesture, but of course I'm still upset. The food arrives, and it is a little cool but good! No coupons included (now this annoyed me, not because I cared about the coupons, but because he should have gone the extra mile to make me happy, this is now strike 2). I get over it, continue enjoying my food. I ordered an extra grilled pita with my order, which was delivered pre-cut in a bag. Been to this location a few times. A small but quality selection of beers on tap, and a huge selection of available bottles. This is a great place for beer enthusiasts. Add to the fact that the food here is actually pretty good (huge menu of pizzas and sandwiches) and unique, and you've got a nice place to chow down and get a drink in. They only have 4 outside tables on the sidewalk, but they have a decent amount of seating inside. The front room is where all the hustle and bustle is with the bar and take-away areas, but there is a back room for spill-over that gets a bit less traffic and is quieter. Great place for a quiet, peaceful bite and drink. Pizzas, sandwiches, and fries are the things to get here. Prices are quite reasonable as well. read more

The location is also just poor - the outdoor seating is just a parking lot. Also, I left my debit card, and when I went back to get it the next day, the staff treated me rudely. Good beer place for happy hour after work. There are about two pages of draft beers on the menu and many other bottled beer selections in the fridges. I've heard good things about their pizza. We decided to stop for a casual late lunch on a weekend. It's a good thing that I brought along my reading glasses as the menu is extensive - any pizza or sandwich combination that you can think of. I ordered an Emory's Portabella sandwich, a large pita topped with portabella mushroom, pesto, peppers and cheese. It was delicious! My husband ordered the New York Giant sandwich, pastrami on a roll topped with swiss cheese, cole slaw and mustard. I also ordered a side of cross cut fries, spicy but soggy. Service was slow. It took about 25 minutes to get our food and at that point, the fries that I ordered still weren't ready, or maybe our waitress forgot to put the order in. They arrived about 5 minutes after I asked, followed by ketshup a few minutes later. It probably didn't help the ambience that Saturday afternoon appeared to be kids time...almost every table had at least one toddler, some better behaved than others. In an area while traveling, I looked around for a place nearby using Yelp. The Lost Dog Cafe came up first, had over 200 reviews and a decent rating. I arrived to the restaurant on a beautiful day with no one sitting outside. Worried this place was unpopular or ungood, I slowly walked into the establishment. Relief, there were lots of people! Yet I was still a bit nervous that things could go south. I wasn't seated immediately, even though there were 4 staff up front chatting and they could easily see me coming from a mile away. Once seated, I saw the massive sandwich selection. Not knowing what to choose, I chose the Buffalo Chicken sandwich with cheese and onions. Long story short: it was awful. Chicken was cold, bun was burnt (tried to heat the sandwich together perhaps?), and there was as many onions as there were chicken pieces in the sandwich. A wonderful place to hang out with friends after work or with the family for a nice, low-key dinner. I love the atmosphere and the friendly staff. My daughters are HUGE fans of the milkshakes and pizzas (so parents can't go wrong). Ordering my favorite (and therefore familiar) go-to sandwich, I saw no notice of a charge for the condiments. But when the bill came, one of the three condiments I had ordered (out of a list of lettuce, olives, mayo, blue cheese, pesto, etc) had a charge. The waitress, when questioned, said, "not all condiments are free." The floor manager, also questioned, said, "not all condiments are free," and added a snarky dismissive,"have a nice day". I wrote to the Lost Dog web site, and noted that If there are extra charges, they ought to be called out on the menu so there will be no surprises. I had a response the next day, an acknowledgement that the menu was misleading and a pledge to update the information. They stepped up, and I appreciated good customer response. Lost dog Café has the widest selection of and some of the best beer and food in NoVA. Their menu has over a hundred different salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, plates, etc. and many are healthy / low-calorie / gluten-free / vegan. Their beer selection includes hundreds of bottles in fridges by the exit (you can buy them to-to as well) and at least a dozen craft taps. It's probably my favorite place to go for low-key relaxing meals, and whenever I'm there, I usually get a text from a family member asking me to bring back food. It's not perfect -- some of the food is disappointing, the service can be amateurish, and the seats aren't exactly plush and comfortable -- but it's pretty darn good. read more

I had a great time at this location with my girlfriend last month. We spent our time at the bar and I ordered a delicious individual pepperoni pizza. Our bartender Franco was extremely hospitable, attentive, and quick with our drink orders. I grew up with Lost Dog in Arlington, and have been going since I was a little kid. Met a friend and sat outside in the beautiful weather. Had a nice lunch at a really good place. Have eaten at their Merrifield location many times, and always enjoyed my food. Today I tried the Chicken Taco pizza, which was delicious and very filling. Just the right amount of seasoning, salsa had a nice bite to it. Just a good pizza in the afternoon sun and a nice breeze. This restaurant seems smaller than the Merrifield location, but may just be the configuration inside. The outdoor seating location is nice and I will be back again to go to this location. The McLean location is much less of a busy location than Merrifield. It was nice without as much hustle and bustle. Give Lost Dog Cafe a try. They have a huge selection of pizzas and sandwiches, and a wonderful selection of beer, bottled and draft. read more

I know they say average 45-minutes, but give 10 extra during peak hours or whatever, but this was 8pm on Sunday. It took an hour and a half for my food to get to me. I didn't receive one of my drinks and when I called to ask if it could be taken off my bill, the woman said "yes, i'll have my manager do that" and then hung up. I was a little confused because she didn't take any information from me about what drink I was missing, or what my order number was or anything. And then I get to my pizza, this is within three minutes of it being delivered to me, and it's room temperature, and my milkshake is completely melted, like they've been sitting in the car for an extra 45-minutes. I went to McLean lost dog about a year ago with some friends. We saw a roach in the dining room. That's gross, but ok that can happen in a food establishment, I get that. I tell the manager and he's all "oh, we'll get someone out here next week" like its no big deal, it happens all the time. Imagine the kitchen if they are just wandering the dining room with no chance of a chemical weapons attack. Because of that I did not return until yesterday. I asked the server if they have root beer. They do! Wow. I'll have one. Why didn't you tell me it's a dollar more than a coke? Why didn't you tell me there is a charge for refills? I'm sure it's on the menu somewhere hidden among the eighty different sandwiches. My head started hurting before I got to the drink portion of the menu. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a total cheapskate, but twenty-two dollars for a reheated Sysco truck sandwich and a liter of root beer is ridiculous. I guess it's my fault, maybe I expect too much. I get spoiled by GAR restaurants around here. At least I didn't see a roach this time. If you are listening management, nip it in the bud. I see you've opened a number of locations recently. Food is pretty much the same as all the other locations in the area, but the staff and attentiveness to detail are AWFUL!!! If I could somehow convince the Dunn Loring location to service Tysons, this spot would be a weekly delivery option. As is, it's a last resort spot that frequently delivers the wrong item, doesn't respect allergy requests (celiac), and loses orders. It's been at BEST a coinflip if our order gets here in the expected timeframe and is the right food. read more

Great selection of beer on tap and an amazing variety of bottled beer. The staff is friendly and they've always been nice to our dogs when we eat on their patio. They've occasionally had live acoustic musicians when I have been there, and they've always been good. They have a decent happy hour, too, with discounts on the taps! read more

I went here for lunch. Had their cowboy sandwich, which has brie, roast beef, peppers and onions, and a touch of garlic. It was delicious...however...i didn't taste garlic at all. Our waitress was very nice. Our french fries and beers were delayed and we had to remind them that we didn't have them near the end of finishing our sandwiches, but we didn't mind because we were having a good time. I'm sure if you're in a hurry, or not as laid back, it might be irritating. Are the fries grilled? They tasted of grilling and were awesome. I loved it. Generous Toppings!!! When you can't hold your pizza with one hand, that is the sign for a good pizza pie! We just had the lost dog cafe pizza delivered to our house for lunch, and we were quite impressed. Although it wasn't as quick as I expected, the pizza was still warm and so full of toppings. I really liked their sauce, not-so-thick crust, and generous toppings. I ordered a Nouvelle Veggie Pie and added chicken (+$3). Lots of chicken came with it, so we were happy!! When you go to the lost dog cafe website and click order online, it takes you to the third party ordering site called GrubHub. This was my first time ordering anything through GrubHub, so I was a little bit nervous about ordering through this site. But, after I made sure that I was taken to the GrubHub through the Lost Dog Cafe website, i felt more comfortable. So, don't be alarmed if the order goes through the GrubHub web. I would definitely order more pizzas! I like Bertucci's pizza, but the one in tysons corner doesn't deliver. So, I think we pretty much found our new pizza joint that delivers good pizzas. I've been here a few times for lunch, happy hour, and trivia (RIP) and it's just ok, not great but not terrible. Servers are incredibly friendly and keep an eye on refills and the menu is varied, just about everyone can find something they like on the menu. I typically order the Rin Tin Tin (marinara, portobella mushrooms, spinach, red onions, red peppers, fresh mozz, basil, on whole wheat crust) on a WHITE crust. The whole wheat crust is dry, crumbly, and flavorless. The white crust is a little bit better, but I am not really a fan of their crusts in general, although I do give them major props for the sheer volume of pizzas! I think the toppings are generously applied, fresh, and unique, which saves this place. I think the dog collars (onion rings) and Italian fries (waffle fries with seasoning) aren't worth the stomach space One thing to note is the super weird mural, especially in the back room. I find it difficult to eat in there because of the perspective of the dog mall mural, but that may just be me. Lost Dog Cafe is a generally ok pizza place, not the best but certainly not the worst! If you're dealing with a group of people, everyone should be able to find something they'll like (or they can customize a sandwich or pizza). read more

This is an unassuming little place in a strip mall with a great beer selection and yummy sandwiches and pizzas. Came here with co-workers a few times and each time had good food and drinks. I opted for the "white pizza 2", which add fresh basil and garlic to their traditional white pizza, and is very yummy. The one with all the meats was literally an insane meatlover's pizza, and the sandwiches I saw around all met with approval as well. The space is oddly organized and the backroom totally cut off from the rest of the restaurant, which is a bit hard on the servers when they can't see half of the customers. It's clear they've tried to shoehorn as many tables in as they can, and accommodate a large section of coolers in the front for the takeout beer selection. The music is also a bit loud for conversations, even among a small group at a table. But, it's a great little spot in McLean that won't break the bank. The bottle beer selection is extensive, the small tap selection well chosen and seasonal. The food is consistently tasty and will appeal to both picky eaters and those with foody tendencies. I really enjoyed this cute neighborhood place in McLean next to Safeway. They have a fantastic beer selection, and although the dining area is smaller, it's not crowded, and feels "homey." The paintings all over the walls are cute and creative too, and I love that they give back to dogs in need. I had the gluten free pizza, and it was delicious! The Cowboy is described as "Lean roast beef, sautéed mushrooms, onions, and green peppers, with melted brie cheese and a touch of garlic mayo on a toasted sub roll" on the website which sounds great. The sandwich managed to taste bland, I did not taste any garlic mayo and there was too much brie which is a pretty mild cheese to begin with. The mushrooms had an overbearing flavor that tasted like they just dumped some wet canned mushrooms on the sandwich. The bread was good though. read more

All was tasty, but the size of the torte was ridiculously small for the $7.99 price tag: think a tiny sliver of cake, like a sampler. Overpriced. The manager offered a 50% discount on the cake, after I complained. It's all that tiny piece of cake is worth, anyhow. Otherwise, most food prices were fair. The food was tasty, the salad dressing minimal/not enough, the chicken very good, portions are fairly decent, and overall...better than I expected. I'd order again. read more

The drink prices are fairly competitive and you can also get flights of selected beers for around $2.50. After sipping on a few of our favorites. Some food was in order. My basil sandwhich (pita stuffed with tomato, feta, basil, onion, etc) was quite tasty! Definitely hit the spot. My buddies were raving about their sandwhiches as well. I was disappointed. This was my first visit to Lost Dog Cafe. I'm not anxious to return. First the hostess was a bit pretentious. "Is all the member of your party here?" Seriously? This isn't fine dining, sweetie. The murals on the wall were busy and the place was noisy. The retail space up front was confusing to me. The menu was too much. The writing was too small and the stupid names were a distraction from the description. The food was meh. I really disliked the presentation. The cup of soup came in a small, tall and narrow cup. Very difficult to eat politely. I also had a small salad that was crammed into a little, tiny bowl. By the time I gave up, there was salad (which was only romaine, green peppers, onions and two olives anyway) all of the the table. The small table. The service was not good. Our soups were brought out first with a "anything else I can bring you?" Uh... my salad? No silverware save the spoon and no napkins. My cup of soup was nearly $4 and my "salad" was nearly $5. The price was too high for what was served. The seating was designed to quickly turn tables. It was the absolutely most uncomfortable chair I have ever sat in. Ever. So okay, if you want to turn the table and I'm just sitting there, drop the stupid check. And if there is a credit card laying on the check that you took your sweet time dropping, pick it up before I get some kind of butt injury from your chair.
