I really love this place-great food and a worthy cause attached! This was the first time we ordered from the McLean location, but we'd just moved here and decided to try it (previously eaten at the lost Dog in Arlington several times). Our food arrived promptly and was very fresh and as expected. We ordered the chicken salad sandwich on croissant and the tuna salad on croissant, potato salad, a blondie and homestyle banana pudding. The sandwiches are plenty big enough to save half for next day's lunch. The blondie was moist inside and chewy on the edges and the pudding was creamy with crisp wafers. The wafers are obviously from a box but the pudding tasted scratch made and the bananas were fresh. Will def be a 'go to place' for us any night of the week! read more

Went here a couple days ago. This restaurant is pretty decent. Overall it seems to be one of those restaurants catered to people leaving the office after work. It is located next to the large Safeway in McLean. The service is adequate, and the food is decent. I had one of their pizzas, and multiple beers. They have a wide selection of beers and it is nice to try what is in season for them. The pizzas and food, well, they are okay. Nothing that really stands out of the ordinary. Overall, this place is A-OK. If you want something quick to eat for lunch or dinner then swing on by. If you want something fancy or so, then try another place. read more

I usually enjoy this place for lunch at off-times as it can get quite busy during regular lunch time. They offer lots of vegetarian options and although inconsistent it's usually pretty good. Tonight we placed an order for delivery, received confirmation of that order and another text that is was going to take longer than expected. After 2 hours we called the restaurant to check the status of the order- it never went through! I appreciate they are trying to keep up with the times and offer online order and delivery, but I would rather have the inconvenience of picking up my than not receiving it all (hangry!). Have eaten here quite a few times before and was good. Today I was truly disappointed. I ordered for delivery a large pie. I requested extra cheese, meatball and the also extra ricotta cheese. I'm a cheese lover, what can I say, and I'm also from NY. So when I got this it broke my heart. Maybe this is the way they do pizza, so don't have high expectations. I've been to Lost Dog three times in the past few months and have yet to be disappointed. Despite the sandwich and pizza options being a little overwhelming, I have always ended up tweaking an existing item and have never had any problem doing so. Big red pie is my favorite (but with regular crust and pepperoni added). Have also tried various beers, the chili, and taco pizza with no complaints. I would be remiss not to mention my server at lunch today (as she is the reason that I'm finally reviewing Lost Dog) - Kristen H was awesome! I have had 3 delivery issues so finally decided to post a review. 3 DIFFERENT ISSUES on 3 different orders. Once they forgot to include an item, once they did not add a premium pizza topping that I paid for, and once they took 1.5 hours to deliver because the driver apparently could not find my location, and did not have his phone, so had to turn around and go back to the restaurant. Stopped for lunch on Sunday with my 2 daughters. Was given a choice of where to sit, but after being seated had to ask for the table to be wiped, (to be fair, someone came along quickly to clean it). Daughters had kids pizzas, which looked good, and they enjoyed them. I had the duck dog salad (I think that's what it's called), but was disappointed: a thin, grey, overcooked piece of tuna over the salad. The colorful murals give this restaurant with a bar a lively and bright vibe. It was clean and the prices were actually reasonable. Other Yelp reviews have photos of the menus with the prices on them.There's an EXTENSIVE menu of sandwiches (with many pita options), pizzas, (massive) salads, soups, lots of sides and a wide beer selection. Craft beers included, if you're into that. I got the Phoenix, a coleslaw and we shared waffle fries. She got a salad (I'm blanking on the name, but it had avocado and tomato) and it was definitely a solid full dinner. Phoenix - One of those mouth-watering orders you can get addicted to. The pita bread was fluffy and warm (not dry) and the garlic mayo on the chicken hit the spot. The chicken and this was moist, totally seasoned and flavorful. I love that they give a generous portion, even on pita bread. Coleslaw - Loved it. I feel like coleslaw is often an overlooked side dish because it's difficult to find something that tastes satisfying without being a heart attack, but this one is just right. Waffle fries - All I can say is that I could have eaten the whole basket myself, but had to split it. This place is not a steady 3-star establishment, it's a mixed bag of experiences and foods that average out to someplace in the 3-ish range. The Cowboy sandwich and the beer selection are good enough, but there is so much inconsistency here. It's no wonder they haven't mastered them all, since they have 53 on their menu. That's right. Fifty. Three. I have not tried any other foods at this location. - Service: I've been here twice and both times the bartender was the same awkward dude who couldn't remember what we ordered. However, on my second visit we had a group of 7 and actually got a table instead of just eating at the bar, and our server, Simon B, was amazing. A few of us asked for his recommendations/opinion and he wasn't shy about telling us what he thought we should avoid and what he recommends without being overbearing. The sandwiches are okay, but I come here for the whole wheat pizza. It's a bit pricy ($1.75 per extra topping!), but consistently good and fresh. The crust is more of a soft, homemade style dough, so you will need to heat slices up in a pan if you're going for the crispier, charred bottom. Service is the biggest issue here. It can be hit-or-miss, but to be honest it's usually pretty clueless. There seemed to be at least 7-8 people working front of the house tonight, but I think they'd do much better with fewer staff and better training. One guy's sole job seemed to be sloooowly checking the refrigerator cases for half empty packages of beer and straightening misaligned cans/bottles. The rest of the time, he wandered aimlessly from case to case to bar to register. I also watched two servers consistently delivered food orders to the wrong tables. At the take out counter, the worker processing take out orders was not the same person as the worker giving them out to customers... which of course led to all the pick ups being mixed up. I'll still drop by for take out pizza, mostly because it's the only decent whole wheat pizza option I know of that's nearby. read more

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would! I needed to place a lunch order for my manager and her team at the last minute. I called the restaurant probably around 9:45pm needing the order to be delivered by 11:30am the next day, but I didn't have the complete order from the team yet. The staff member that answered the phone was extremely friendly, gave me the name of the manager that I needed to call or email when I had the entire order together from my team. I ended up placing the order online around midnight, and I even had to add a few additional items on to that order the next morning. Not only were the folks at the restaurant extremely friendly, they were able to add in my last minute requests and actually arrived a little earlier than I expected. I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The wall paintings are cool, colorful, and a really nice touch. I was craving a sandwich and theirs hit the spot. The portions are decently sized and I was surprised how satisfying the sandwiches were. Fries and/or chips cost extra though. It was a tasty combination; however, the individual ingredients were nothing incredible. Service was iffy. I was almost late returning from lunch because sandwiches and checks resulted in a 45 minute meal. I wanted to update my review to say that they do now have three large television screens at Lost Dog. I don't generally watch TV at restaurants, but it's a great improvement for those who do, or those who want to catch a game there. A couple of my other favorites here are the White Pizza II and the Pedigree Pie. I might be alone in thinking this, but the Pedigree Pie has artichokes on it, which I think are delicious on pizzas. They have outdoor seating here, as well, which is great when the weather is nice out. Every time I ate outside there was at least one or two people who brought their dog out. read more

Standard issue Lost Dog. The place has some good sandwiches and pizza. Lots of variety to choose from. Nice outdoor patio section. Little far away from Mosaic but if you wanted you could walk. Overall clean establishment. The staff is a bit lackadaisical but seems to be mostly high school/college students. Great beer selection of that's what you're going for but not what I would consider a "bar." Definitely more of a restaurant. read more

I came here late a few nights ago only to be highly disappointed. It started with taking several minutes to be greeted by my server in a nearly empty restaurant. I tried to give benefit of doubt, maybe they were busy in the back or something. After taking over five minutes to receive my beer, it became apparent the entire waitstaff was more interested in getting high than serving me. Almost everybody had red eyes and couldn't stop laughing. Nothing was getting done. I waited for my food for over thirty minutes. It was cold and disgusting. While I waited to let my server know, I could hear him fooling around in the employee area up front. After waiting a considerable amount of time, I just took my food home. I love the wide beer selection and the food seems like it could be great if served correctly. I would not be giving my service back to a place with such poor ethic however. read more

I live nearby, so this has become the neighborhood spot for pizza for me. I ate there once, and it was a nice evening so I sat outside. There isn't much to see in terms of sights, as the location is in a shopping center with Safeway as the main store. The inside looks okay with a bar with some televisions and some tables. The place, as of the date of this message, is still quite new, so it is in good condition. I've only had pizza thus far, and I've enjoyed it. From my experience, the pies are made with good fresh ingredients, and the crust is good. It is of moderate thickness and has a nice consistency to it. The crust is nice and chewable with some crispness on the surface. For beer aficionados, the beer selection is extensive. I'm not sure any of it is on tap though. There might be some tap selections, I just am not sure if they exist. Certainly, there are bottled varieties, and lots to choose from. However, if you're going for take out, you'd probably be better off going to a neighborhood beer and wine or even Safeway next door. That should save a little cash or a lot if you can guzzle beers with the best of them. Certainly, I'd come back, but I'm more likely to go carry out since I live so close. read more

Whelp. This place is gem. I've ordered take out before from here and not come inside. The outside appearance though meek and unsuspecting tells a standard story however, upon entry the story becomes way more thrilling and exciting. The coolers of beer and the cool, fun, take on modern woodsy deco kept my eye dancing. I loved that. In the back there's this great little section--open with natural light. Gorgeous. I could've stayed there all day. On to the food!!! I ordered a hard cider (lunchtime) and a individual size pizza. The Popeye Pie to be exact. It came out and my eyes and mouth were both overcome with desire. Sadly I only killed a slice and a half. It's big and worth the $11. I took the rest home and had for dinner. Splendid. I loved it. I was complaining to one of my friends about this restaurant. I told him how a delivery driver showed up and said, basically, "Whoops. I don't have your food. Another driver with your food is right behind me." It was true that he didn't have my food. It was a decent exaggeration that the other driver "right behind" him. To which my friend told me how he doesn't get delivery from this restaurant anymore because every time he ordered delivery, the same driver would show up, deliver the food, and then just want to hang out and chat. Most recently it took Lost Dog about 75 minutes to deliver an order less than a mile away early on a Saturday evening. Getting carry out is only marginally better. If I had to pick a restaurant as "Most Slacker", this place would win easily. read more

I ordered their fiesta salad, it was very tasty, though the chicken was a little dry. My fiance got some sort of chicken/pita/pesto sandwich, which was also tasty. I was a little overwhelmed at the drink selection, by my best estimate it was 2 pages front and back, two columns per page, times new roman size 12. It seemed to have something for everyone's taste. The menu was also very extensive, in my opinion, with plenty of sandwiches, salads, and pizzas. I definitely want to go back to try others of their menu and drink options. For anyone with a dog, thinking of bringing their dog, you might consider first whether or not your little scoundrel likes to chase cars, since the patio is on a corner of the parking lot. read more

What a great spot for lunch. Beer selection is out of this world; just one glance at the wall along the bar area and you'll see what I mean. The food menu is just as extensive as well, with countless sandwiches, pizzas, salads, and even pastas. i had a Mixed Italian sandwich with a side of Italian Fries. The sandwich was great, but it was put together a little haphazardly. The fries came a tad burnt, and tasted like the waffle fries I would normally buy from the freezer aisle in Costco. Don't get me wrong, they were okay, but I doubt that they hand-cut these fries in the back. I love the atmosphere in this place. Lost Dog has been the place to go and chill after a good day's work, for the past year, for my friends and me. What struck me most about the place, was the amazing variety of choices it offers in it's beer collection and sandwiches. The ambiance is very chilled out, and the service is great as well. I've waited 3 years to go here!.............. Finally was in the area for an event and made special plans to stop by for a beer and app before our dinner reservations elsewhere. The atmosphere was just what I expected. There was about 4 other tables full of people. Not busy.... no one at bar... yet no bartender behind the bar... he was wandering around. The staff was all young people. Our server came and took our beer order. A Coors Light and I chose Lonerider's Hoppy Ki Yay.... After a while he comes back and says they don't have Coors Light.... so my boyfriend re-ordered... He comes back about 5 minutes later with his beer only and says they don't have the beer I ordered????? .... we finally caught our server when we were ready to go.... Our bill had the beer I didn't get as well the second beer I chose on it.... but the kid was gone again. I finally went up front to see if there was a manager who could expedite the situation as it was getting really late. The host said she would probably comp us somehow. Finally the manager appears, looking more like the dishwasher, and takes the check from our server, who had just gotten the money from my boyfriend. It was $100 bill.... she takes all this money and change out of the register, puts it on the counter, counts out the exact amount of the bill, scoops up the remainder of the money and gives it to me. I was kind of in shock by this point. Little to no eye contact from her and no apology or compensation... very strange... By this time a full hour had gone by and we didn't have time to go to dinner where planned before our show, and had to grab something on the fly.... I don't blame the young people as much as the management. Very sad because it will make or break a restaurant and I love this chain, it's concepts, beer, etc... It's the Third Lost Dog, first one in McLean, and it's great. If you are a beer aficionado, enjoy sandwiches, or just like a good neighborhood bar, you need to stop by the Lost Dog. It's got a great selection of beers on tap, a huge selection in bottle, plus root beer. The sandwiches have that homemade feel to them, toasted roles make them even better. The pizzas are good too, and the italian waffle fries are crispy and delicious. It's great that a 'real' sandwich shop is open in Mclean, especially after Chutzpa Deli shuttered their doors. read more
