It was inedible. ------ We tried their dinner after seeing good reviews, but the food quality was very poor especially given the price. The charsui, chicken, and fish all tasted over cooked or like it was cooked a long time ago and kept under a heat lamp for too long. My mom also has a sensitivity to MSG, so we requested not to have it put in, but there was still a lot in all of the dishes. I do not understand the rave reviews at all. read more

Delicious vegetable dumplings, both crispy and boiled!! Really loved the pork ones too but I was super impressed by the vegetable ones because of their rich/full flavor. The noodle soup is amazing and the fried rice and noodles had the best textures. I was very happily surprised, I'm usually not a fan of thin noodles but these were deeeelicious. If you are into self serve restaurants this one is for you. You order your food on your phone then they bring it out and that's it. So if you want water or anything else you have to get up to go ask or order at the to go kiosk. Food was ok but not worth all my effort. All of my soup dumplings where busted prior to me getting them so it was more like soup tins. read more

Super cute small setting, great food, as a former chef I judge hard, especially when it comes to Chinese food that has widely become nothing more than hella sodium and sugar/syrup drenched food. The food tasted good but it was quite pricey. We wanted to sample the roast duck for dinner but it was a whopping $29 for half. So we tried other entrees which were $15 on average. The General's Fish Fry is a dry dish (no sauce). The sweet and sour chicken was refreshing, unlike the one you get at a typical Chinese restaurant. The service was decent but wasn't the best when it came to describing the items on the menu. The worst food we've had in the greater Austin area in a good long while. Just...horrible. Got two entrees - a rice and a lo main dish - and while they weren't great, we at least ate them. We were so excited when we saw soup dumplings offered but I've never ever had worse. Awful little balls of non-identifiable meat on the inside of soggy, falling apart multi-colored dumplings. The standard dumplings we got were frozen in the middle the first time we arrived and the second time, we went "ah, ok...so they were just supposed to be mortar and spackle on the inside!" Never got the edamame we paid for but at that point, we flat out didn't care anymore. So much great food in Austin and this was an utter waste of time and money. read more

The only thing bad at this place was the food. Although, the waitress did ask if we wanted ANY utensils... That was a wee bit odd, haha We ordered the pork belly buns, sweet and sour sesame chicken and pork ribs. The buns were good, but nothing special. The ribs were less than ok tasting. They had an odd flavor. The sesame chicken was pretty awful. Dry and flavorless chicken with a sauce that was just so-so. The sticky rice it was served with had the texture of old rice that had been sitting out too long. I'm baffled by the great reviews. Did we just order the wrong things?? Doubtful. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. All seats outdoors were taken when we arrived but by the time our food arrived it was totally empty. However we had already settled in indoors and did not want to move. We both ordered Orange chicken with the fried rice & it didn't disappoint. Cooked fresh & on demand. Everything we've eaten to date: Pork belly bao - super tender and not too fat consumed. Fresno chili is the perfect compliment... Pickled cucumber isn't overwhelming. It all works beautifully! 1/2 Roasted chicken - roasted to perfection. Nice skin, juicy and seasoned by a pro. 1/2 canton duck - meaty as in a generous portion and tender ... crispy skin... side accoutrements were delightful - loved the pear (which may be seasonal)... chili's awesome... both this and the chicken are safe orders guaranteed to be enjoyed. Green beans - fresh and expertly prepared. Packed with flavor and you still feel healthy eating them. BETTER than Wu Chow. Pork scallion and egg fried rice - excellent. Great texture and ratios.
