Outstanding food and service. Our server, Lucio, was very helpful and super nice, offering his advice on appetizers. The green salad was delicious, and full of flavors. Our favorite was the red chili shrimp and calamari-a flavor explosion in every bite, along with a sourdough garlic bread with melted Gorgonzola cheese. So much umami in that dish! The New England clam chowder was so creamy, steamy hot, and rich with clams. We ended with an amazing chocolate chip cannoli that we shared because we were so full from the greatest dining experience in Monterey! This place is just gorgeous! We didn't have a reservation but got sat right away. We were sitting sort of in the middle of the dining room but still had a very nice view of the water. If you want a perfect view I do suggest making a reservation because all of those tables had a reserved sign on them. We ordered the sampler platter of calamari, mozzarella cakes, and popcorn shrimp. It was delicious, the popcorn shrimp was amazing. We then shared the Ciopinno which was very good. It came with a good amount of seafood for a good price. Will definitely be back! read more

This was my second time here and I thought it would be a better experience than the first time. We arrived at 4:50 pm for a 5 pm reservation and there was nobody in the entrance, the bar, or the host stand. We weren't even noticed for 15 minutes. We had a larger party and everyone arrived at 5:05 pm and we still had to wait another 5 minutes before we were really acknowledged. We were taken to our table and they accommodated us to sit by a window for the view. The decor and restaurant furniture is extremely outdated and not only looks old it looks dirty. They don't have bread other than the garlic bread which is good but it's more of an appetizer. The food was delicious and the portions were large. The cioppino did not disappoint! It is tasty and well made. I'm not sure if I will be back as the first impression of the restaurant is just not appealing and makes you think you are eating in a dirty establishment. This is a great place. Service is great staff is accommodating. Food is good. If you have dogs they have a menu for them. They take food allergies seriously. Portions are huge. Overall, I thought the food was OK. We had a great server, but I was left feeling underwhelmed about the food. We came in just as they opened for dinner service. I believe it was around 4 PM, the entire restaurant smelled of very harsh, chemical cleaner or bleach. I would recommend the clean afterwards or at least an hour or two before so that the smell can go away, it made me a little nauseous, which made it hard to decide what I wanted to actually eat. I ordered the chicken special, and it came with local seasonal vegetables, which were broccoli, carrots, and zucchini, the carrots were hard and raw and not even cooked thoroughly. There was a sour taste on my chicken piccata, I'm not sure if they put too much lemon or acidity, but the seasoning seemed off to me. The muscles appetizer was pretty good, the flavor was delicious, and the broth was very light which I like it. Unfortunately, the muscles were pretty gritty and it felt like they had sand in them. The cioppino was delicious and broth had lots of nice flavor. I think overall the quality of the food could be a bit better, but if you want an ocean view dinner, you can come here . read more

The food reminded me of what I can get in the frozen food section of Target, Lean Cuisine to be exact, just more of it. I was afraid to drink the water. Service was fine. Atmosphere was miserable. They had a small tv with a video of a fireplace, and a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. They had one sweet waitress, she was not ours, although ours was not a problem at all.
