I'm kind of stuck between a 2 and 3 star review. I think I just ordered poorly. I got the Super Nachos...which was just kind of weird. There was a plate of chips with chili and cheese sauce then another plate with all the 'super' fixings. Some assembly required. The chili was delicious but I wasn't impressed with the cheese sauce or salsa. My date ordered the chops and eggs. His over-easy eggs were cooked perfectly and I stole a taste of the chop and it was delicious. read more

This diner is amazing! I went here for breakfast yesterday and got the veggie omelette with a biscuit. The omelette was loaded with veggies and the biscuit was unbelievably delicious. We went back there today for lunch because I liked it so much. Today I got the shrimp poboy and it was the best I've ever had in my life. Not exaggerating. Honestly, the few times I've been here the food wasn't that great. But what do you expect from a diner in college town? Instead, Louie's offers a pretty good cup of joe (free refills), and it's open 24/7. Seating can be an issue sometimes, but you can always go outside. read more

We ate here on 10/2/16 - there was a considerable line to wait for breakfast. The hostess was extremely rude yelling at everyone to get out of the restaurant and wait outside. Then instead of drying off the table after she wiped it off, she told the waitress to do it herself. If you love brunch or breakfast then this is the place to be. It's always packed on Sundays with a wait. Wait is generally not that long. Food is tasty. Very good hang over food. I love going here other than times when I sit at the bar that is near the cooks. There is one cook who has very nasty fingernails, they don't use gloves, which makes me uneasy a little. However when the food comes out I don't think about it, eat the food, which is usually good and I've never been sick. Coming from Texas where health laws are different is probably what I have in my mind when watching them cook. read more

This place is the typical southern US restaurant. The food is good, with big portions at a low price. Also, the service is not bad at all, even during busy hours. After a late night downtown by the riverfront hanging out with the BR Fire Guild we were famished. We knew that our options were slim to none for our late night hunger pangs. It was either IHOP or try some other late night chain breakfast eatery, or try Louie's Cafe. We decided on Louie's cafe since we had never been to the newly opened location. I ordered the seafood omelette and my company ordered a cheeseburger and the other ordered a breakfast plate. To be honest, the food was bland and none of us enjoyed our dishes. Also, they charge for every little thing. Don't think fries are coming with your burger, that'll be 3 dollars extra. Don't think that you will get cream cheese for your bagel, you'll have to buy a cold pack of plain cream cheese for .65 cents. Don't think your food will be well seasoned, because it's not. I honestly think this place is good for late night drunk college people to stumble into to get ahold to something greasy to help with their queasiness and hangover. read more

How could I start about Louis. It is a crowd favorite. I honesty don't know why. Except that it is one of the few places in baton rouge that it is open 24 hrs, I don't see anything good about Louis. It is overpriced which dinner charges $9.00 for eggs, toast and bacon. We waited patiently for a table which was not an issue. They asked if we would like to sit at bar top for 4, and that was not an issue. The problem is we sat down and waited another 15 minutes for our waiter and even the host was unapologetic when we asked. Louie's is in a new location! Woah! I've spent a few years away from LSU and between graduation and now they have moved from their small location into what used to be the Wendy's. This location serves a better purpose as the home to Louie's. I love the larger open space with many more table tops and a patio dining area. The food is awesome like it always has been. My personal favorites are the burgers, omelettes, gumbo, and catfish po'boy. After leaving I was happy to find I no longer had that old familiar smell of "Louie's," probably due to the fact that there's more ventilation and open space. You must visit Louie's at least once during your time at LSU. read more

This was the first diner that I went to when I went to LSU. They're good for breakfast. My main go to is the three pancakes and country fried steak. Their burgers are on point as well. I had their seafood dish-blackened catfish topped with a creamy crawfish and shrimp sauce on a bed of rice. I was somewhat saddened when they moved the location, but it worked well. The waitstaff virtually ignored us for about 10 minutes, and I was close to leaving when we finally got up on our own to get menus and got someone's attention. After that, the waitress we had was very nice. We both went with burgers and were surprised at how good they were. My tip: get the hashbrowns (home fries, really) instead of French fries. read more
