Came here one night after calling blossom nail salon around the corner and they said they could get me in if I came in 5 mins. I got there in 3 mins and I waited for close to 20mins then I said fk this and went over to lovely design nails. Soooo Effin glad I did, found a small gem. It got pretty busy on a Saturday when I came in around 5pm- there was a steady stream of people coming in without appts who had to wait until someone was available. They have so many polish colors from lots of different brands which I appreciated! I was given a small bottle of water when I sat down which was nice. They even throw in some lime slices in the tub! I wish I had gotten the name of the lady who did my pedicure- she was so thorough, took her time and made sure I was happy and comfortable. She also told me they have a new owner and had their grand opening recently. Also liked that they have a small drying station near the entrance so you don't feel rushed out like you do at those really big salons. Accepts card but tips in cash only! I wanted to check out this new place today because I needed to get a manicure and pedicure. Walk in and was greeted fairly quickly and was asked about the service I wanted. When trying out a new spot I always get the very basic mani & pedi because that gives me an idea about how the customer service is. If I get the cheapest service am I still treated as well as if I got the premium package. Pedicure. I am very very picky and my last pedicurist was the best but she left the business so I am now left to look for a new person. Basic cut the cuticle and clean. I tried Kim today. She is very patient and cheaply asks how she is doing something which I appreciate. Pretty good massage! Last time I was here little was left to be said about it. I like Kim! Multiple times I said ouch, and she would apologize and take no precautions so I would end up getting hurt again. She didn't take all the nail polish off and when she applied the new color I picked, you can still see the old color underneath (I did light pink sparkly nails and the color I had on before was dark purple, so very visible underneath the pink) At one point, the manager came over and asked me if I wanted the nail tech to fix the shape of my nails because she didn't do the best job. I said yes which made the nail tech angry. Which made her be even less gentle. She fixed the shape but she kept tugging on my arms and the whole experience was very unpleasant. read more

I absolutely love, love, love Lovely Design Nails. I have been coming here since I moved to San Jose in October 2016. The best feature I love is the consistency in the work they provide. It doesn't matter who you see the work is always stellar. I have a lot of cuticles to be clipped and cleaned and they do an awesome job of cleaning up my nail bed. I usually get gel nail polish and when done properly it will last 2-3 weeks. This is the type of work they do. Additionally, there is an air of professionalism that is unmatched. Service is great! When you enter they greet you right away and provide you with a nice bottle of water. The owner is so helpful to her staff and the customer. This was probably the worst manicure I've ever had. The lady that did my nails took forever. She needs training on how to paint nails. She did everything else good like prepping the nails but her nail painting skills was horrible. I never seen anyone paint nails like her. She would paint my nails then go back to each one with a brush and nail polish remover to wipe the edges. If you paint the nails correctly in the beginning, you wouldn't have to go back and clean them up. I understand one or 2 of them but not each one ! Literally, she would clean the edges after every coat. Meaning clear coat, the double white coat. Waste of time ! I never been so frustrated. I still tipped her but I'm going to have to go get them fix tomorrow. Literally a 10 years old can paint better than that. read more

After moving from Redwood City to San Jose I was tasked with finding a new nail salon: something I dreaded. I first went to the nail salon in Oakridge mall and was disappointed in the result. I came to Lovely on a whim and was so pleased! Loan i.e. was my tech and she was so sweet and so skilled. She took her time and made sure that all the bad acrylic from the last manicure was removed and placed a fresh coat down. She helped me pick out a rich color and glitter to match. I was offered drinks, got a mini shoulder and neck massage and then found out Loanie was also certified in massage (Yassss!) which was a pleasant surprise. I'm overall very disappointed with the services. On the positive side, the salon is quiet and the cosmetologist take their time which is nice and a relaxing moment contrary to those "factory" feel places. I had asked for a basic pedicure and manicure with dip powder and a relatively simple design. The total was $85 without counting the tips (they were 3 ladies who worked on my nails so...) which is much more than what I normally pay for the same service in another more popular salon actually. The price was announced while they were already working on my nails, so too late to stop and go somewhere else. I love when my cuticules are being done well but the lady cut my skin on multiple occasions for the pedicure. They changed the shape of my nails when I said I wanted to keep them the way they were. They put 4 layers of dip powder making my nails look very very thick and not pretty at all without counting more volume due to the gel coats. It took 2 hours and I left the salon without my nails painted. I had to come back the day after for another hour to get the color and literally 2 days later the gel chipped!!! The design I asked for isn't super complicated and even then far from being done right and they used a sparkly color when I didn't ask for it ! So disappointed and will not come back ! If you want a relaxing moment for a very simple mani+pedi then sure, but if you want anything a tiny bit more specific then I would recommend to go somewhere else. read more

My friend and I had an appointment for around 3 PM on a Sunday. We came in and were immediately attended to. My friend wanted shellac and I decided on getting a set of acrylics. There were three technicians working, and I ended up having Loanie work on my nails. Overall, I was satisfied with my experience. Loanie was very friendly and warm, and also got the job done. I felt like there was a wide selection of colors to choose from; I've been to places where they barely had anything and this one isn't one of them. My nails came out to be a total of $36, which I think is pretty standard pricing. My friend's shellac was $28 or something around there. I like them! No reason to not come back! read more

At first it was going good. then she just started gluing the nails crooked, she cut my nails with out asking me the size I wanted for my nails. my nails were crooked and when I asked for her to fix it she only made the nail smaller. ofc not the size I was asking for. I decided to try out this place because good services is hard to find. The wait was short ,the people were friendly. I got a pedicure which was great. Only one problem, I wish that the employees would not talk to each other in a different language, when they are helping clients. Because all they do is talk bad about the clients. This is a very small, quiet, and clean nail salon with the sweetest ladies. I called hoping to get a pedicure immediately as I was pressed for time and a nail salon down the street turned me away. Knowing the chances were slim, I called anyway and asked if I could come in and be helped right away. The nice lady who answered the phone told me to come on in and sure enough they were ready for me. I quickly picked a color and the next thing I knew my pedicure chair and nail person was ready to start. The pedicure overall was wonderful and relaxing and the price was not bad at all. The pedicure chair was comfy, there were lemon slices in my pedicure water, and I got a decent 5 minute hot stone massage all for $20. We took mom over to her regular nail salon, which was quite busy so we decided to go somewhere else. We were blessed to find Lovely Design Nail Spa. It was busy but not too busy and we were warmly greeted immediately by Natalie. Upon entering I couldn't help notice how nice the place was, very clean and new, from the marble workstations, to the high end massage chairs, which we were almost immediately seated, and then offered refreshments. The staff was extremely friendly and professional and the hygiene protocol was impeccable,with the tubs carefully lined and tools individually sterilized. The services that are available vary from very affordable to pleasantly pampered, and a wide variety of colors, designs, and finishes. (I abstained from the nail polish, the boys at the shop may not let me hang out, I'm a man.) However Mom left with some high end Gel nail polish that looks fantastic and had a huge smile too! My pedicure was skillful and very pleasant which was a lot of work for Natalie as I usually don't go very often, so it was definitely more work. The manicure (Budget) was long overdue and very welcomed by my cuticles. I have finally found my favorite nail salon in SJ (after searching for a good 8 months). I usually walk in without an appointment (because I like to do my nails on a whim) and the ladies are always super nice about it. If there's a 5-10 minute wait time, I just sit and slowly pick out my gel nail color. There are SO MANY COLORS to choose from. I usually pick two colors (for an accent nail or glitter on top). If there's a longer wait time, I just go shopping at Safeway across the street. I love TINA. She's so nice and gentle. One of the most important things that I look for is how well a manicurist takes off my gel nail polish. I've actually had my entire nail uplifted from the nail bed because a manicurist was too rough on my nails before (and then I couldn't do my nails for a good 6 months...). Lovely Design really takes the time to make sure everything is to your liking. Tina usually massages my arms while the acetone is soaking my gel nail polish off. I love the hot stone massage that's included; it always feels so relaxing. Tina does a great job filing, buffing, and cleaning my nails. I tend to like my nails shorter with a round shape. When she paints my gel nails, nothing is ever outside the edge of my nails and she always cleans the immediate area if she does go outside. She usually does 3 layers of color for me (plus whatever sparkle color I add on top) and a top gel coat. My nails can last 3 to 4 weeks without chipping. :) It's $12 for a regular mani and $28 for a gel mani. I always give a $5 cash tip. I never feel rushed, and I never feel like the manicurists are talking about me in Vietnamese. I always get a complimentary mini water bottle. I love this place, and will continue coming here as long as I am living in the SJ area. They also have a stamp card so you get a free manicure after 10 trips here! :) read more

Under no circumstance go here. My mother and I just went here. We walked in and asked how long 2 pedicures would be, the owner said 15 minutes so we came back. We waited in our seats for another 45 minutes and this was after my mother said she had a flight to catch. No consideration for people's time they just wanted the business. The pedicures are fine but my mother asked for a wax. She told the owner that the wax needed to be cooled and the owner kept telling her to wait. We came home and my moms face turned bright red and had burns all over it.... My mom has to fly out for a business trip today and will now have to stop at a make up stall to tray and cover this up.
