Fun experience for a first timer. We had a great table & sat right in the front center table. Doesn't get much better than that. They offer professional pictures but my husband and I went off and took our own. It gets warm in the tent so if you're not used to heat, keep that in mind. Food is good - drinks are unlimited. Enjoy

The white tent just gives off a wedding feel to the ambience.

During my visit to Kaua'i, all the luaus were sold out. A concierge happened to find the last 3 tickets available to this luau. The cost was $103 per person, $80 if you go to their timeshare presentation. According to her, this luau hosted by the Marriott was the best luau on the island because it was the most traditional. I wish I had done my research on this luau before buying the tickets. When we first pulled up to the tiny parking lot, I saw a big white tent and said "oh no". We went rushing to the luau trying to arrive early to get good seats, but we arrived only to find out that we had reserved seating. I was really disappointed with the setting, especially when a big name like Marriott is hosting, I expected a nice big stage adorned with flowers and torches with a beautiful view of the ocean or a garden...but saw a small stage under a white tent with a view of the old hotel. The only things I liked about this luau were the open bar, the food was actually good, and we got a nice family picture taken. This luau had such a low-budget feel, the dancers were good, but I felt like I was at a recital than a luau.

Amazing experience, good food, good service and friendly environment. The host of the show is funny and and had the crowd well entertained in between acts. Dancers are beautiful and danced so beautifully.. loved every moment of the show.

Incredibly gifted group. The musicians & dancers are extremely talented. Great venue at the Sheraton with wonderful food and decent options, including vegetarian items. The luau was worth every penny. We had the ability to interact with the artists who each wear several hats to make the event work and run smoothly. The program was longer than expected (in a good way) and got better and better as the night went on. I wish we could've made a circle around the fire dance. It was amazing, but a little difficult to see. That may be a liability issue preventing us from being closer. I give Luau Makaiwa 5 stars and highly recommend it. I love that it was authentic.

What an amazing experience. The Dancers has so much energy and the dancing was beautiful. The men had strong performances and the singing was mesmerizing. Delicious food and drinks. The host educated us on the different styles and history of Hula influences around the world.

Not really impressed with this luau. It was sold to us as being kid friendly although we got yelled at for being up by the stage with our 18month old (prior to anything going on, on the stage) we also got told not to walk in the grass behind the stage during the show (when we bought the tickets we were told we could, our 19 month old was getting a little restless). The food was good but nothing special and the majority of the show is hula, over and over again. Depending on what the weather is, having the luau under a tent was nice although humid. If I were going to go to another luau it would not be this one. The only reason we went to it was because we were staying at the same hotel. Very disappointed.

Awesome entertainment! Such a talented group of performers! My bf and I liked the smaller venue. There's an open bar and their mai tais were good-not watered down at all. Plenty of food and it was delicious. There are local vendors selling their items which gave me a chance to buy more gifts.

We thoroughly enjoyed this luau. It had a family atmosphere and is more intimate that some other larger luaus.

Popular menu items include ahi katsu 10/10, chili pepper chicken 9/10, and Hawaii's own- loco moco (not a huge fan in general). They offer a variety of other options, including poke, ramen, and sandwiches, with convenient takeout and delivery available. It's definitely a local favorite due to its generous portions, authentic Hawaiian cuisine and friendly service. We ordered the fried chicken and poke combo with wonton chips and the ahi katsu (my absolute fav). The ahi was fried to perfection- crispy on the outside while rare and tender on the inside. The sauce on the katsu was absolutely fire!!! So good! Macaroni salad was creamy and delicious. And the rice was perfect. Obviously, you cannot visit Hawaii without having some of their poke- always fresh and delightfully tasty. The marinade was savory and packed with flavor.

Its right off a main road and you cannot miss it. Parking lot was a bit small, but there was plenty of parking. AMBIANCE: When I went there was plenty of seating. A bit dead, but I also did go pretty early. There were a bunch of decor of older American pop culture like Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, etc. But also Hawaiian themed decor (obviously). SERVICE: You gotta walk up to the front to order. I was approached almost immediately as soon as I walked up to the menu on the screen. The girl working was super friendly and welcoming. I made my order and she gave me a pager for when my food was ready. FOOD: I ordered the chili pepper chicken, which was recommended from the girl at the counter. My friend ordered the ahi katsu. The chili pepper chicken was good! It was crispy and extremely flavorful. It was slightly too salty for my taste, but luckily the rice does help balance it out. Some of the crispness was sacrificed for the sauce, but it was overall still pretty crispy. I loved that they used boneless chicken thigh. I was expecting bones or lots of breading but it actually had a perfect ratio. I wasn't much a fan of the mac salad. It was like a mix of mac and potato salad, but more like a potato salad. I'm not big on potato salad, so that makes sense. My friend's ahi katsu was alright in my opinion. The sauce that's on it was good and enjoyed all the flavors. The tuna was just a bit overcooked to my liking, but idk how else one would make a katsu without overlooking it too much. Maybe bread the fish and freeze it before frying? Idk man, I'm not a chef lol but the tuna would definitely be better if it was less cooked. OVERALL: Honestly, I would still come here again. I still enjoyed the meal and the service was pretty quick. Both items were both worth trying. All the flavors were there and the little things I didn't like were just personal preferences. Its a great place to pick up a lunch plate and enjoy it at the beach.

I can't remember exactly which poke varieties we got, but I believe one was their shoyu poke and the other was a spicy ahi. Regardless, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. This is exactly the kind of mom-and-pop spot I love finding while traveling. No frills, just friendly people serving great food at reasonable prices. The poke was fresh, the karaage was flavorful, and the lau lau was tender and comforting. The staff was welcoming, the portions were generous, and the prices were fair, especially considering the quality of the food. There are plenty of places to eat on Kauai, but spots like this are what make a trip memorable. We'll definitely be back the next time we're on the island.

Great Hawaiian music was playing and really set the island vibe while we relaxed. The open-air layout, steady ocean breeze, and views of the water made it an easy spot to unwind after a long flight. Our family ordered fish tacos, Kalua pork tacos, and a grilled cheese for our youngest, and every plate came out hot, fresh, and delicious. The tacos were well-seasoned and satisfying without being heavy, and the simple grilled cheese hit the spot for a kid-friendly option. It felt like a menu that works just as well for adults looking for good bar food as it does for families grabbing a casual bite together. Overall impression Between the Hawaiian music, the breeze, and the ocean view, MamaHune's gave us exactly the welcoming, relaxed Kauai vibe we were hoping for on day one. Friendly service and tasty food made it an easy recommendation, and we'd happily come back again later in the trip for more tacos and that beachside atmosphere.

The customer service is absolutely horrible and I would not go here unless you want to be treated bad. We had a party of 8. He was trying to talk us out being seated the entire time saying it will be an "hour plus plus" of time trying to get us to leave. Our party told him repeatedly we were going to stay and wait until a table was ready to sit us all. As I went to inquiry about our wait time after a 25 min wait, I was told by the manager Robert that there was a party of 11 ahead of us as well as several other parties waiting to be seated, and it would still be an "hour plus plus" of a wait. I said okay and returned to my party. When we checked the app, there were only 3 party's ahead of us. 2 parties of 2 and a party of 6. I returned to the desk and spoke with Robert once again trying to get an understanding on why it would be an "hour plus plus" wait time when only 3 parties were ahead of us. Robert didn't like that I called him out on his lie. Robert proceeded to call me out of my name and say "I will not serve a b*tch, and you can get out of my restaurant". Our family was extremely upset regarding this encounter, and one went to speak with him again. Robert than called me a liar. He must not like the truth being called out on him. Because he didn't indeed call me that haha. Anywho, this manager is completely unacceptable and should be in NO position to be in any hospitality job if he can not handle people or any situations. A managers job is to handle escalations and he does not have the capacity to be able to do so. He is extremely rude to everyone we encounter and we were not the only family who was treated this way. I would 10000% NOT recommend until a new manager is in position here. I will also be filing a corporate complaint with the owners the Luana Hospitality Group as this experience was unacceptable and unprofessional.
