I believe this luau is now called the Wailua Nui Luau. The show wasn't terrible, but I've definitely been to better luaus with stronger performances and much better food--especially for the price. The overall experience felt pretty short for what we paid, and while the intermittent rain may have played a role, it still felt underwhelming. To their credit, they did provide plastic rain covers, which was thoughtful and appreciated. I'll be honest: I only booked this luau because it was the only one with availability at the time--and now I understand why. I regret not booking one of the other, more highly recommended luaus on the island. That said, there were a few nice touches. The lei and haku lei making before the performance was enjoyable, and the temporary arm tattoos were a fun surprise for the kids. Mixed drinks (mai tais and a blue cocktail) were included, along with beer tickets; beer beyond that required additional payment. If this is the only luau available during your trip, then it may be worth going just to have the experience--but I wouldn't recommend paying extra for VIP seating, as it really didn't add much value in my opinion. If you have the ability to plan ahead, I'd strongly suggest looking into other luaus on the island instead. Just my honest take. read more

This was a fun experience! We opted for front row seats and are glad we did. The food was reasonably good. There was enough for me to eat (I don't eat fish or seafood) and the dishes on the buffet were well marked (GF, V). The fire show was very enjoyable, being indoors with no fans it did get hot. The dancers consisted of 5 women, 1 older man, and a special guest: a champion junior fire dancer. The host was very likeable and kept the show rolling. The drums were great as well. read more

We showed up and they're not even doing any shows and they haven't been for six months! Horrible experience, horrible representation of business and you guys need to tell the hotel that you're not operating because we bought a night at this hotel based on the fact that we could see a luau here. Plus, the hotel was super rude. Multiple employees very rude. I would never come back again. read more

My Girlfriend & I attended the Hilton Garden Inn's Fire Show. The Performers & the service was nice, would have gave it around 4 stars. Food....not so much, I had way better ethnic food at some of the local restaurants around the area. Annnnd for the best part....Unlike regular Luau's this one is indoors, and most Luau's typically have fire dancers. I used the restroom after the show was over and saw my nose and nostrils were COATED in black soot. I was unsure of what I was looking at, at first. Until I started looking at everyone else's nose and saw the entire audience's noses were all covered in black soot from breathing in all the fumes in that filled the building. This fire show was great. The buffet was just OK unfortunately I did not find all of the food flavorful, but the one thing that was amazing was the Kahlúa pork. During the fire show if you bought the package, make sure to buy it at the front desk you'll get 30% off. It gives you also two complimentary Mai Tai but all in all the fire show was good. read more

Most overpriced buffet I've ever had and took forever for them to serve us drinks. We were expecting it to be outside and it was inside..when we asked why they blamed it on the wind but it was a super calm night weather wise. 2nd Mai tais were watered down and kind of gross. Fire dancers were really good and sat with some really nice people but for the price, I would skip this one. read more

As a couple other reviews have mentioned - the hotel cancelled the show a few hours in advance. No reason was given, and by the time we were notified, every other comparable show that night was fully booked. They refunded in full but didn't give any alternatives or credit for their restaurant/bar. Pretty much ruined our Friday night as there weren't any alternatives available last minute. Really disappointing way to end our vacation. As others have experienced this as well, this doesn't appear to be a one off. read more

The show itself was 5 star. The dancers and the act was awesome. High energy and such a fun performance! Only loses a star for being indoors. I mean... we're in Hawaii on the ocean!! Let's go outside!!! The food was good enough, but nothing compared to a true luau. Would definitely go again if I was staying at the hotel though. read more

Recently went to the fire show. And my girlfriend bought the tickets that were $150 each. Which is pretty pricey considering the food was like a bad LNL barbecue. The show was mediocre. The stage look like it was in back of somebody's garage. It seem like they were there just to take our money. I'm very disappointed. read more

The show is good fun and indeed features a ton of fire. Based on the show alone I'd give it 3-4 stars. The food and the service is lousy, so you're way better off just watching for free from the nearby hgi tiki bar and having a burger. read more

This was an a great show for my family. We lived on Kauai for several years and never got the chance to see this show live. It was amazing and a great family experience. What a great night. Hope to see it again in the near future. Book early because they often sellout. read more

All other luaus sold out. So we found this Fire show luau still available. Not too high expectations based on reviews and such. We got there a bit late. People were still all welcoming and amazing! Our family was able to make it on stage for the hula lesson! Food was not bad. AND THE SHOW WAS INCREDIBLY NO KA OI FOR SURE!! Difficult and dangerous fire shows from various countries were nerve wracking to watch but was always exciting!! Every future trip to Kauai will definitely include the Fire Show! This was like half luau, half fire show. Not sure what I expected, but this was not it. They held it inside a ballroom not outside it was hot and muggy, and then they turn the fans off because it proposed a danger with the fire, The food was OK not exceptional definitely edible, they didn't quite offer enough before the last people got served. They had to ask for the dishes to be filled. I'm allergic to fish although I heard that the fish was really good with the lilykoi sauce. We had nothing to do in this field. The dinner was so very bad that it was hard to still be open-minded about the show when it finally started. So. Very. Bad. Inedible fish, flavorless vegetables, bland noodles. But the performance was solid - the MC was very sincere, the drums were great, and the fire performances were mostly well executed. This show was beyond anything any of us could have expected. It was thrilling, beautiful and culturally informed. The host didn't just give us a cheap fire show, he gave a sincere aloha experience. I would recommend this to anyone- couples, families, young children. Reading the other reviews, I think it is grossly unfair to blame the fire alarm going off during a fire show on the troupe. It is a fire show. Of course there will be smoke. I was at the same show another bad review was at and feel that review was ridiculous. I saw no one getting sick. Everyone was thrilled. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Ahi Iula ruined the last night of our vacation. We booked this fire show based on our concierge's recommendation 2 days before. Come to find out it was cancelled, no one called or notified me until my mom and I showed up at the hotel tonight. We were turned away with no apology or reconciliation. We had chosen this fire show over other luaus in the area for our last night. It was too late to sign up for anything else, so we didn't get to do any Luaus or shows our entire trip. Very disappointed with the Ahi Uila show and Hilton Garden Inn overall. I would warn anyone against booking this, don't waste your time or $400!! Go somewhere reliable! read more

This was an indoor show -- it was not raining and beautiful outside. The fire alarm went off and may daughter and I got very ill from the smoke. There were about a dozen of us who had to run outside to get away from the smoke. Several people were vomiting. Worst experience ever. read more
