Luby's Cafe First time I've ever been to Luby's Cafe. It does remind me of the old S.S. Cafe and Piccadilly's. These type of food places really need to make a comeback. My meal was enjoyable and well cooked. The service at the front counter was welcoming. The people serving my food were very friendly and informative on my choices. At the end as I was checking out, the price was reasonable for the amount of food that I got. I definitely see why older crowds and people in the know like to patronize these type of cafe establishments. read more

I used to come to this location way back in the day. I moved away so I never had a chance to stop in. Let me start by saying that this South Hampton location is by far the best in the DFW area. The restaurant was clean, the employees were nice and now about the food. I quit ordering Chicken fried steak from most all restaurants because it's deep fried and tastes like a hockey puck after the breading falls off. Not this one. I was going for the fried fish(my standard choice) but noticed how the CFS looked authentic. It is and it was delicious. It's not winning a Michelin star but hands down will it quell your CFS jones. The food was unfortunately very dry, and we brought it to the manager's attention simply to provide feedback, not to ask for anything free. After the fact, he did ask if I wanted my chicken replaced, but by then I declined. What was disappointing was the lack of overall customer care or effort to turn the experience around. Sometimes great customer service is not just about replacing the food, but about making the customer feel valued and heard. I had a very bad experience today at this Luby's on Hwy 67/Hampton Dallas. Listen if the food is not fresh or it has been sitting out too long or overcooked, you shouldn't give it to your customers! Especially in the drive thru. Please train your staff including your Management on giving their best being their best producing the best for your customers because times are very challenging to be spending our hard earned money to businesses that don't care. That's a $25.+ waisted no satisfaction from Luby's Mgr but a lesson learned. read more

Coming back to Luby's after all these years was a pleasant surprise. It's just basic diner/food line meals. Nothing fancy but still great options. I grew up on their fried fish. It tastes just the same. The chicken tetrazzini was very delicious as well. read more

They NEVER have cheesesteak. Like ever. It's ridiculous it's one of the daily menu items. It's always on the menu yet they never make it.

First, the young lady (Ashley, I think), was absolutely wonderful. She stepped up to the drive-thru with a beautiful smile ready to treat me like a valued customer. However, the food was horrible. They have at least 10 men at 2 to 4 tables playing chess and they are loud sometimes they yell out at each other, they actually have the best seats in the restaurant but they are usually not eating or 1 of the staff members are getting free drinks for them the food is lukewarm and sometimes not cooked properly they supposedly steam the vegetables but cabbage, kale and broccoli are usually not cooked enough when you take it out you can doctor it up at home I don't recommend Luby's it's a big disappointment.... read more

Great atmosphere, great food, and the staff was amazing. I ordered the Oxtails,and it was so tender, and filling. They serve it on top of a bed of rice with my 2 sides. I had broccoli casserole and fried squash. It was delicious. Homemade cornbread. read more

I thought coming to a restaurant at 12 noonish the food would be hot and ready ... but unfortunately I had to have my food warmed up in the microwave... The dirty rice was hideous too greasy...smh the rolls where hard as hell as if they were old and they the nerve to brush melted butter on top ... they weren't warm either ... I don't if the warmers were out but everything on my tray was cold... This location usually have a line at the door .. we walked right in to the counter I should have known then something wasn't right... Great customer service though .. I haven't been to a Luby's since the 90s. Drove by when we were visiting in Dallas and decided to stop by and get some food. I got the chopped steak with onions, pea salad, Mac and cheese, corn bread and mashed potatoes with gravy. It was just as I remembered. The line was long and the customer service was super slow. The lady at the register asked us to get cash out for a tip, which I didn't like as I already had cash. Thought that was wierd but other than that the food was just as I remember. read more

Whenever I travel south, I look forward to a meal from Luby's. Here you get a home cooked balanced meal at a reasonable price plus a discount for seniors if you ask. Lunch with my Texas Mothers was great. I had a wonderful time with them laughing and talking about the kids and when we first meet. The staff here was the best. This is the worst Lubys anywhere. I keep telling my mom And her friends to just go somewhere else, anywhere else. I hate to say it but this is the most ghetto Lubys I've ever had the displeasure to eat at. I've been coming to this location since it was Wyatt cafeteria.inedible food that should never be on the line is served. This is the 2nd time in 2 months I've actually had to take food back to the location. You wait almost an hour for n the drive thru, drive 10 or 20 minutes home just to find out the food is disgustingly inedible or just the wrong thing all together. The only reason this place doesn't have a negative star is because they take advantage of the elderly and old people are leas likely to post and just eat whatever it is. The chicken fried chicken was so hard and soooo dry it visibly should never have been served. That's what they send out to the drive thru. You have to check your order like it's McDonald's. This chicken fried chicken is just bad, again. I'm allergic to cheese and guess what not mashed potatoes, cheese potatoes. I don't even feel like taking this s?!t back, again. Consistant terrible customer service at the drive thru. For whatever reason the drive thru is always slow. You are never greeted. No one ever says "Thank you for choosing Lubys." Always seems I am interrupting the employee. The last straw was waiting in line at the drive through. I got their 10min before closing and (had 3 small children in the car so going inside was not a option) had 2 cars infront of me. As normal it took a long time for my turn. As luck would have it, the time was 8pm. The employee tells me they are closed. I was so angry, I said I have been waiting in line.
