    Beef Chow Mein

The food was gross. Absolutely disgusting. The beef tasted like jelly and the whole meal was drenched in oil. The whole meal was flavorless. I can make a more authentic meal at home. No one else was waiting so there was no rush to make the food. Then they charged me $2 for using a card. Please don't spend your money here.

    Mongolian Beef

Always the best. Made just the way we like. Great customer service. Have come here for 20 plus years. Today we ordered the Mongolian beef and fried rice. Place is always clean. Price is reasonable. Food is always hot and tastes great.

Delicious Dumplings there was 12 but I was so excited to try them I ate some before taking a picture.

My girlfriend has been talking about this place for 2 years now. But we now live in Anaheim and it's an hour drive. So we haven't had a chance to come out here until today. Let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised and impressed. Everything we got was so delicious and fresh made to order. Definitely worth the drive if you're a foodie this place is a must try. Also the service was great so friendly. Loved it!!

Tofu with garlic sauce and Mongolian beef
    Mia O.

The workers were very kind and very helpful, and our food came quickly. The place was also very clean. However, the tofu with garlic sauce had no garlic flavor, or really any other flavor for that matter. The Mongolian beef was also pretty mediocre. The egg roll and fried wontons our meal came with seemed kind of old and stale.

COMBINATION CHOW FUN - MY FAVORITE! $13
    Truman W.

First time here after several months, the former chef is now manager and still very friendly and accommodating. Will give you any sauce or cook it any way you like. I ordered my favorite combination chow fun (spicy), still a bargain at $13 (up from $11 pre-pandemic) As you can tell from the photo it tastes as good as it looks.

New menu with increased prices... still very reasonable!

Best hot sour soup and won ton soup! It's been hard to find such good soup with just the right combination, but this place got it right.

We arrived during lunch hours and discovered they offer lunch specials, which were surprisingly affordable. I have to admit, I'm usually skeptical of very inexpensive lunch specials because, as we say where I'm from, "sometimes cheap ends up being expensive." In other words, I worry that lower prices might mean lower quality. That was absolutely not the case here. The biggest surprise of the meal was the dan dan noodles. Wow. They were absolutely delicious--easily one of the highlights of the meal. Honestly, everything we ordered was very good. The service from our server, Carlos, was great, and another server who was blond and spoke Spanish was even more attentive. Both were very friendly and helpful. We were so hungry when we arrived that we completely missed the "Wait to be Seated" sign and almost walked halfway through the restaurant before realizing our mistake--our apologies for that! The restaurant itself feels cozy and welcoming. I visit this shopping area quite often, and I'm really glad I discovered Northern Cafe because I will definitely be coming back from time to time. If you're looking for a delicious and affordable lunch, I highly recommend trying their lunch specials. The quality of the food far exceeded my expectations, and I don't think you'll regret giving this place a try.

It looked like a nice spot hidden where food is made fresh to go. I ordered the chicken Mushrooms and veggies and a wonton soup. I didn't realize they also advertise their daily specials on a board outside. My dish was very decent and not too salty. I would rather a not so salty dish so I can dose how much spicy sauce I want on it. The food came fairly quickly and I was back with lunch at my hotel in no time. Great service and easy ordering process. I really like the big board with the photos of each dish underlined with price. It makes it easy to choose the meal that you are craving for. So, give them a try. The portion is very generous! Bon appetit!

The spicy wings were incredibly hot, but not in a good way. Instead of having flavor, they just burned your mouth. The orange chicken was the biggest letdown. It tasted like it had been cooked in old grease, which gave it an unpleasant, stale flavor. The beef with broccoli was just average. It was edible, but nothing that would make us want to order it again. Overall, everyone in our group wasdisappointed with the food. We were hoping for a good meal, but the quality and flavor just weren't there. Based on this visit, we wouldn't be coming back.

Chili oil did save the side soup. The omelette was well balanced in flavor. Cooked to perfection as the egg was very fluffy. Bok Choy is plain boiled. Located on the border of Torrance and Gardena, the restaurant, with its casual décor, is large enough for 60 guests when 2 large round party tables are included. The always-friendly staff brought the menu and water right away. For this visit, we ordered the following dishes (which started arriving within 10 minutes): Roast Duck: As expected, the duck skin was crispy, and the meat was plump, tender and nicely seasoned. Beef Chow Fun: The seasoning was super flavorful, and the glossy, but non-greasy sautéed thick rice noodles had a perfect texture. The beef pieces were tender, and the portion of bean sprouts was just right without overcrowding the dish. Wonton Soup Noodle: The thin noodles were perfectly al dente. The broth was light but flavorful. The wontons had nice thin wraps, and the fillings were well seasoned and with pleasantly firm consistence. We left the restaurant feeling 110% full and satisfied. Highly recommended.

We ordered the xiao long bao, broccoli beef, beef rolls, and chicken chow mein. The xiao long bao was excellent with a good amount of soup in each dumpling, and the beef rolls were probably my favorite item, especially dipped in a mix of black vinegar and soy sauce. The broccoli beef had a nice flavor, though I wished it had a little more meat. The chicken chow mein was the weakest dish for me: the noodle texture was great, but the overall flavor didn't stand out as much as I expected. Ordering was easy and the menu was very approachable thanks to the pictures. The restaurant is on the smaller side, which actually made it easier to get a server's attention when needed. Food also came out pretty quickly. The ambiance is straightforward and comfortable -- nothing fancy, just a solid neighborhood restaurant. Because it's small, you may have to wait if it gets busy, but tables seemed to turn over quickly thanks to the fast service. One practical tip: the portion sizes are bigger than they look. We had a table for two and ended up with dishes crowding the table pretty quickly. Overall, I enjoyed the meal and will definitely be back.

They're typically very busy when we go on a weekday night. But once we got seated, service was fine. I usually get the pork wontons with chili oil. It's flavorful and it's actually not really spicy. I ended up dipping my noodles in the chili oil sauce from the wontons just to get more flavor in it. Good place to come for simple dishes. Overall pricing is reasonable as well.
