Attended a retirement luncheon here a couple of days ago. Helped a little in putting things together. We found this restaurant to be very easy to work with and so accommodating. Food here is pretty good! I've ordered from the restaurant several times now. I always ordered the Shanghai style thick noodles and the beef roll! Both are very tasty and delicious. Both are probably some of my favorite items here. I have sat down once at the restaurant and ordered dim sum there. The dim sum is ok, but I would have to say there are probably better places for it in Sacramento. The staff there are very friendly. The location of Lucky Jade is one of the oldest Chinese restaurants in Sacramento. It changed the name a few times, but the dining room remained the same many years ago. I have only tried a couple of fried rice noodles there. It is not bad. The Thai-style Rice Noodle is very tasty. The Beef Brisket Fried Flat Rice Noodle is not as good as I expected. The beef briskets are too lean and too dry! I wish it has a reasonable amount of fats. The lady who works there takes care of everything in the dining room, including cashier, waitress, busgirl, take phone orders. Super busy, but still very friendly. Parking lots are safe and clean. For now -~3.5 stars. Bought take out twice and the dishes we had so far were pretty decent and the quantity was good enough for more than 2 meals. Our friends went there for dim sum after getting our recommendation had different experience though :) We will probably stick to these 2-3 dishes for now. - Braised tofu: like the tofu but the veggies are a little tougher and salty. - capital pork: many small bits of bones that might mess up your dental crowns. Coworkers and I have came here quite a bit over the years decided to pop in today and to say I was dissatisfied is an understatement and will never come back. Ordered the DUCK {not me but my coworker PLEASE SEE THE PICTURE BELOW The picture is what arrived at the table not the same as the picture on the menu. ALSO POSTED When the dish arrived, none of us knew what it was because it didn't have the appearance of pressed duck when asking the waitress she said it was a duck and pork mixture . My coworker cannot have pork. Totally unaware that a duck dish would be a sort of pate meatloaf that was mixed with pork. No mention of this on the menu and the dish also came with this sweet-and-sour sauce drizzled all over it. Waitress acted as if this was commonplace I'm assuming " pressed" part is what should have told us it wasn't duck. In any event the dish looks and tasted disgusting and the person who ordered the dish could not even eat it because it had pork in it. The chow mein was too thick and tasteless and seemed old. However, the drop egg soup and hot and sour soup was delicious and stayed hot in their container for a long time. This is my Taiwanese parents' favorite restaurant! They literally come here several times a week sometimes even 2 a day! They call it their personal kitchen.... If you see a Chinese guy with spiky hair wig over a hat that's my dad. The place was closed for over a year due to covid and when they reopened with new menu and new chefs, my parents took notice! They employed chef Yang from Yang's noodles on Tuesdays to make the week's worth of food and you can see his handy work in many of the dishes involving dough. The hand made noodles are top notch chewy with unique textures. Chives pocket is our family favorite. Fried chicken wings ask for dry batter for extra crunch. We came to Lucky Jade to check it out as the chef from Yang's Noodles had moved over here after it closed down. We ordered the HK Noodles, Taiwanese Beef Rolls (not on their menu), Salt and Pepper Pork Chops, and Westlake Beef Soup. The food came out quick and fast and the servers were very attentive as they came by asking if we wanted water refills very often. Something to note is that there are items not on the menu, but are posted on the wall in Chinese, so it would be a good idea to ask about those menu items as those were specially brought over from Yang's Noodles. Parking for the restaurant was abundant, so you don't have to worry about this too much. Overall, the food was alright for what it is and we would probably come back for the Taiwanese Beef Rolls. Easy to overlook. Good sized portions. Food quality is reliable and solid, but not inspired. You can also get their daily specials delivered by Doordash. Just avoid their "pressed duck". This has become our favorite neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The food and service has improved quite a bit after the restaurant reopened and we enjoyed the noodles, won ton and meat and vegetable dishes. The lady who works as the cashier also is the primary hostess and does a great job. She seems to be very caring and does a great job suggesting items on the menu and taking the orders. We heard that the chef from the closed Yang's is now there so that has got to be a big plus. The decor of the place has not changed and still is quite plain sitting in an unattractive strip mall behind Raley's but the food and attitude has certainly taken a turn for the better. read more

Two weeks ago while driving back home we saw a restaurant and the fact it was packed so late catch our attention. So last Friday (April 1st) me and my wife decided to give it a try. As soon as you walk in you can fell this family dinner atmosphere, the main room have a reasonable good space, they have an extra more private room (I didn't take pictures of the extra room, I will next time I go there). We ordered to go, the lady was very patient while I was ordering because I always have so many questions about food to make sure I'm getting good options when going to new restaurants. So here is our order with a review of each item: Pot Stickers: (6.5/10) Overall it's good, I feel like it could have a bit less dough, even after fried it still have a lot of the chewing part and definitely needs more fillings. Salt & Pepper Chicken Wing: (9/10) The wings are delicious. Crispy. Juicy. Tender. I didn't score it a 10 because they do almost like a "tempura chicken wing", which gives more of the crispy to it, but in the other hand the batter sucks more of the oil and that plus the fat from the wings makes it a bit too much. Besides that, the wings are 100%! Wonton Soup: (9/10) A safe flavor. It could have a bit more salt (not that you really need, it would be just to enhance the flavor) but works perfectly when add some hot chili oil. Pork Chow Mein: (9/10) Noodles texture are great, no extra sauce so it doesn't get soggy, which is perfect. Flavor is good, balanced and well made. I'm not scoring 10 because I think it could have a bit more of pork, it was really just few a pieces. (The Pork Chow Mein better than the Combination Chow Mein, we went back Sunday night to try other dishes, I will compare in my next review.) Pork fried rice: (8/10) Overall it's a good fried rice. Lacks a bit of flavor, so just like the Wonton soup, if you add a bit of hot chili oil the fried rice steps to the next level. Hong Kong Special Crispy Noodles: (9/10) It has lots of flavors, different textures, which makes it a very flavorful dish. Every bite is like a party in your mouth. Bit oily, reason why it's not getting a 10. Peking Pork Chop: (8.5/10) Very good flavors. Crispy and tender. I think the bell peppers take away a bit of the flavor so I would ask to or put it less or don't add the bell peppers at all. We really like it, it was a great finding. We went back there Sunday night, which means we really approved it! So if you are close and want a good option for Chinese Food, give it a try! read more

It's my tradition to eat Chinese food on Christmas. I think it's because I have worked on Christmas for over a decade, and Chinese food restaurants is usually the only restaurants open when I got off work. Anyway, I heard about this place on social media and I wanted to check it out. I ordered the Thai iced tea, pot stickers, and shrimp with mixed vegetables for takeout. The pot stickers were the best. They had a big chunk of chicken inside and they were piping hot. The shrimp and mixed vegetables were good but nothing out of this world. Since Christmas, I have been here one more time for takeout. I think the food is pretty good. It's not my favorite Chinese food place in Sac, but I would put Lucky Jade in the top three. read more

The host/ waitress was quick and helpful. We ordered 3 lunch special (king pow chicken, chicken and vegetables and general chicken) comes with egg roll and choice of rice or chow mein, a cup of egg drop soup. I tried this place based on the reviews. I had not been to this location since it was a Holiday DimSum and was surprised to see that was looking pretty good on the inside after all these years. There were only two other tables of guests dining despite the fact that it was lunar new year celebration time. Service was good, servings were humongous, but the food reminded me of college places where you went to get a massive amount of food and didn't care what it taste like as long as it was deep-fried and had some sweet sauce and lots of rice. The boc choy and shrimp was super plain and had some garlic cubes sprinkled on top. I swoll up that night, indicating that there was an excess of salt or MSG content which was surprising due to the lack of flavor in the food. It must have been the hot and sour soup which was actually quite tasty. The menu was extremely limited and I do not think that I will be back although my dinner mates were happy because they like breaded deep-fried sweet and sour orange chicken general chicken and pork dishes. read more

This place is located at the old holiday villa. I'd rate this a 3.5/5. I arrived on a Friday at 6pm. There was only 1 other table with people. In the 1.5 hirs I was there, there were only 3 total tables being used. There were a handful of takeout orders too. The food was decent. I ordered green beans with beef, chicken fried rice, eggplant and ground pork, stuffed fried tofu, and cod with ginger. The green beans were good, but salty. Chicken fried rice was pretty good/average. Eggplant dish was just ok, probably wouldn't order again. My fav dish was the deep fried stuffed tofu. Good texture, not overly salty, and it had some broccoli. Service was pretty good and fast. They have lunch specials at very reasonable prices so I'd want to check that out if I have time. This rating is only for the dim sum section. No comment on the other food since I haven't try it. So pls don't take my word for it. New name, same owner, same service. Dim sum is average, so are ok. No carts, just mark on paper menu & they will bring it to you. The fillings inside the Chou Zhou dumpling is a bit... awkward. Like the fillings doesn't go together with the skin. It's missing couple of main ingredients. Shui Mai & steamed rice rolls are ok, the roll is a bit thick & not smooth enough. Think the only thing I really enjoyed was the steamed beef ball. Have came here 3-4 times, most visits were during lunch with the exception of 1x for dinner. Service is always fast with quick drinks. Sometimes too fast as still reviewing the menu. Have not been her for Dim Sum but excited to come back and try it. Everything I have had here has been good. The real surprise dish is the sweet and sour chicken as not too crispy, pieces are more bite sized and just has right amount of sweet. One of my new go to dishes. I will have to update my review when I go back because I didn't right this review soon enough to make a comment on the other dishes although I do recall enjoying all my meals and nothing stands out as being "not good". read more

I brought my parents here for lunch today as we had been here previously and really liked it. The General Tso chicken and orange chicken were delicious but I was disappointed with the Honey walnut shrimp I ordered. There were zero walnuts and only 8 small shrimp. The other dishes had very large portions of the entree so I was expecting more. I ordered hot tea. Two of us drank the tea but they charged for all three of us. They gave us a tiny dish (I had to ask for a spoon to serve it) of sweet & sour sauce for the three of us to share for our veggie egg rolls. It wasn't enough. Service wasn't the best. The server here tried to steal from me! She brought my bill over and the total was $15. Then when she ran my card it was $18. I asked her what was up and she just gave me $3 out of the cash register. So I got paid back because I caught it. But it definitely didn't seem like an accident, with how quickly she handed me the original receipt with $15 on it and $3 cash. This has never happened to me before and I'm honestly a little shocked. I think I will call the restaurant and ask for the owners later, and I'm considering filing a police report as well.
