Came here a few times with smaller groups and liked the atmosphere. I wanted to host a larger group here and called them up saying I'd like to have 30-50 people throughout the night coming in on First Friday night. They were cool with it when I called but security didn't seem to be informed we were coming when we arrived. Anyways, had a bunch of people come in for drinks and it was a really good time. The indoor area gets crowded but there is a ton of space outside especially if you're there earlier in the night. It was basically empty on Friday at 7 for August first Friday. It gets crowded later and lines get long to get in. Would've liked to have had easier access to get in and out of the place skipping the line as parts of our group were exploring downtown and coming back in but it was a Friday night so fair enough... Drinks are reasonably priced, they have a good selection of craft beer and an outdoor bar as well. There's two water stations, one by the main indoor entrance door and on one at the outside bar which opened at 8PM. They also have a food truck with a variety of things, their tikka masala tater tots are really good! Security was great and friendly too. They have bocce ball and other games too so it's a fun environment there. I'll continue to come here as it's a solid place to hang out and really good for large groups. It was a bit warm outside but they have misters and fans which significantly help in cooling the outdoor area in the dead of summer. read more

Absolutely love the vibe of this place. I live a block away from here and stumbled upon it on opening day and have been a regular since. I agree with kevin M. that the head security guy takes his job way to seriously. Everyone there is very friendly and welcoming, however, the doorman, being the first person you meet gives a bad first impression. Tyler gave the most outstanding service that I have ever received in a long time. Great whiskey knowledge. As I am Irish. He whipped up one of the best old fashioned's that I have had in a long time. His supervisor David, ensured that amount our drinks turned out to our liking. We let him know that David & his staff were on point with their precision! The bouncers/security guard started beating up our group of friends & had 3 bouncers on 1 person. They just wanted to enter, security said no, and they just said they weren't drunk. Security here initiated the fight. Couldn't even allow a girl in? Weak ass security! Don't go to this place. Why does this place have good ratings? Bouncers are just employees and have no right to assault people, instead just ask them to leave. Our friend started bleeding on his face, hopefully he'll find a way to sue this place. I've gone to this bar a few times with no issue, but last night the doorman stopped me and asked me where I'm coming from and what I plan to do while I'm here. Keep in mind I hadn't had any alcohol in my system and they let my fiancé and her friend in with no problem right before I entered. I got my mozzarepa and bounced. Reading through some of these reviews it seems to be a common theme here with security having a power trip. Even more shocking is that it was a fellow hispanic bouncer that seemed to think I was a gang member or something because I was wearing a hat and a lowrider shirt. I'm an educated professional and refuse to be treated this way. I took my business to hi score club where they know how to treat people with dignity. I won't be coming back to this establishment and neither will any of my friends. read more

Pretty torn about writing this one. I love Luckys. I've been living in the area for a few months now and this is a spot I often frequent. However I've been recently coming and having not so amazing experiences with the bartenders. As a bartender I understand that we have good days and bad but there are two in particular that are rude and uptight. One is a short haired lady who yelled at us about the way we were taking our green tea Jell-O shots (which is ridiculous to even give an opinion) and the other is the owner. We tried to make some small talk just to be kind and fun but he was so incredibly rude, ALSO happened to throw these green tea shots at us, and said a snarky remark. I will still be going back to Luckys because they do have an amazing atmosphere, but I don't think it's necessarily appropriate to have two well seasoned bartenders in their 30s treating young well paying customers with disrespect. Saturday night, long line to get in (ok). Security was super rude. They make just the guys lift their shirts so they can observe your waist (weird, but ok). Security crossed the line with little dude at the gate yelling at me like a child for something that was totally made up and fallacious on their part. I really want to like this place because the design and location are awesome and a welcome addition to PHX. With that being said I've now had 2 issues with the security prior to even entering. Seems that it is an ongoing issue based on other reviews. They have about 5 security guards at the door which is totally overkill. This isn't Scottsdale. Understanding security's job and how tough it can be at times but lighten up a bit please. Serious power trippers at the door and take things wayyyy too serious. Had a really unfortunate experience with Luckys. Came here with a group of friends to celebrate a bachelorette. One of the girls who was with us was underage and we were explicit that she was not drinking and was just staying with us while she waited for her Uber. The bouncer told her she had to leave and made her wait outside by herself. One of us waited with her outside alone on the streets until she was safely in her Uber. Absolutely ridiculous. My friends and I were regulars at Lucky's until we had a horrible experience caused by Security. The heavy set security guard with glasses, a hat, and a tattoo on the left of his neck kicked my friend out and accused him of doing coke in the restroom. Not only is a offensive accusation but this occurred within the first 5 minutes of entering, we brought him in from Los Angeles to have a good time and the security guard put a huge dent in our night. Lucky's is a great new addition to downtown that fits right in with everything else in the area. I love the new addition they made to the outdoor area which now serves food and has a lot more seating. The cocktails here are great - I highly recommend the Johnny McPlane. One thing I really appreciate is they have a small TV in the corner which always has the locals teams on. read more

Have been to Lucky's several times with my wife, have brought friends and always had a great time. However, last Sat night 10/23 was the worst experience I have had with a 'club' or whatever Lucky's is trying to rebrand themselves as. After waiting in line for 20 mins, the bouncer arbitrarily decided that my group of 4 could not enter because he felt my wife was too intoxicated. This was about 11:30pm on a Saturday night and everyone around us had some level of intoxication but for some reason my wife was singled out. I am 47 and my wife is 45 and neither of us have ever been treated so poorly or been denied entry in our adult lives. The group in front of us was yelling and arguing but they got in just fine. My only guess is that we are too old for the demographic Lucky's is going for? Will definitely not be going here and will do our best to spread the word. I go here twice a week since I live in the area, but cannot recommend this place at all. I got kicked out at 11pm for asking for a taylor swift song...make it make sense.
