Lucky's is a steakhouse in a lovely area in Malibu. We stopped in for lunch while shopping. The staff was friendly and welcoming, so we stayed a little longer than we had planned to. This establishment offered you indoor and outdoor options to dine. We choose indoors because we wanted to view the interior ambiance. The interior displayed a classic look of a steakhouse with an impressive wine display.

Lucky's Malibu is definitely a high-end American restaurant, and it lives up to its reputation in terms of elegant interior and overall classy atmosphere. The food itself was excellent, and the service was friendly when we did get to interact with our server. However, there were some things that took away from the experience. We had to wait quite a while before being seated, and after all that waiting, we were placed in a very awkward spot--almost like a side alley where servers were constantly passing by but not really able to stop at our table easily. Because of that, we often couldn't get proper attention (couldn't get water refill because nobody is coming) from our server, and it was hard to even make eye contact when we needed something. Even though our server was polite when present, the overall service felt lacking given the level of the restaurant. On top of that, the expectation for tipping felt a bit excessive, which left us with mixed feelings. That being said, the food was still very satisfying, and I can see why this place is popular. But for the price point and reputation, I had hoped for a smoother dining experience.

Ribeye 8.56/10- got it with peppercorn sauce, it was good but it wasn't amazing. The ribeye wasn't as tender as it normally is but it was buttery. I can't really describe it but something was just missing compared to other ribeyes I've had here before. The peppercorn sauce was tasty, but it didn't have that wow factor I was expecting. Crab Cocktail 7.25/10- I liked that they gave pretty big lumps of crab but they put so much lettuce in it which they didn't do before, so they've definitely made the portion smaller. I wish that the cocktail sauce was on the side instead of mixed in because I prefer to control how much I use. The crab itself was fresh but the presentation wasn't as good as usual. Calamari 10/10- this was absolutely perfect! The calamari was so tender and not chewy at all, which is exactly what you want. The breading was crispy and light, and the marinara sauce was delicious. This is consistently one of my favorite appetizers here and they nailed it again. Fries 7.86/10- these were good but honestly I feel like their other sides are better. They were crispy and seasoned well, but nothing special. If you're going to get a side here, I'd definitely recommend trying something else. Hash Brown Potatoes with Gruyere Cheese 9.26/10- these were incredible! The potatoes were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, and the Gruyere cheese was melted perfectly throughout. Such a rich and delicious side that paired amazingly with everything else. French Onion Soup 9.85/10- this was so good! The broth was rich and flavorful with perfectly caramelized onions. The cheese on top was bubbly and golden, and the bread was perfectly toasted. This is comfort food at its finest. Mr Lucky Cocktail 10/10- made with Casamigos Blanco Tequila, a splash of St. Germain Liqueur, fresh squeezed lime juice, and a dash of sea salt, served up. This cocktail was absolutely incredible! The tequila was smooth, the St. Germain added perfect floral sweetness, and the lime and salt balanced everything beautifully. This is my go-to drink here for a reason. Espresso Martini 10/10- this was perfection! The coffee flavor was rich and bold, and it was perfectly balanced with the vodka. Not too sweet but had that perfect coffee kick. It was served at the perfect temperature and had great presentation. Chocolate Cake 9.66/10- this was so decadent and rich! The cake was moist and the chocolate flavor was intense in the best way. Apple Crumble 8.54/10- this was really good! The apples were tender and perfectly spiced, and the crumble topping was crispy and buttery. It was warm and comforting, though not quite as amazing as some of the other desserts. Cheesecake 8.82/10- this was delicious! The cheesecake was creamy and rich with that perfect tangy flavor. The crust was crispy and the texture was spot on. A classic dessert done really well. Overall this place continues to be one of my favorites, even though some dishes weren't quite up to their usual standards tonight. The cocktails and certain dishes like the calamari and hash browns were absolutely incredible as always! I do prefer the Montecito location though as I think the food is better and more consistent. It reminds me more of a New York steakhouse, and they have certain items only at that location like their soufflé which is amazing. Instagram: @hungrytamale

My husband and I cam here for our Anniversary Dinner tonight. Usually we go to the Montecito location, but we wanted to try this newer location out. It did not disappoint. The service was amazing, the staff was so kind and friendly. Our waiter Dan, made wonderful recommendations. The seared scallops were one of the best things I have eaten all year! They came with this delightful apricot chutney sauce. We almost ordered a second round. The drinks and our main course were very well executed. The ambiance was perfect. The chef Jonathan stopped by our table. Turns out he used to be a chef for the dodgers. I can definitely see why the food was so well prepared. Thank you for making our evening so memorable. Our dinner was fantastic and we will be back!

Steak night at Lucky's Malibu! Perfect filet, classic sides... we basically cleaned the plate. Came hungry, left very happy. Lucky's never misses. PS: My potato couldn't fit in the photo- it had its own ZIP code. Special thanks to Dominic, who always goes above and beyond for guests.

Such a lovely evening! Loved the dining experience at Lucky's! Our waitress was excellent. Great service all around. I can't say enough about the service when it is very hard to find these days. 5 star service!! Another huge plus was that it was not loud at all. The ambience is bright and welcoming versus a dark steakhouse. We had a burger, ribs and salad. The portions are really large. Everything was delicious. I'll be back.

    I like the embroidered napkins.

I just happened to be in the area when I stumbled upon this restaurant. It was around 6pm on a Friday evening and this place was quite popular. I sat at the bar and Anthony took very good care of me. I had a drink and an appetizer, which was the fried calamari, which is a bit on the bready side, but still crispy and tasty. Anthony suggested the featured dessert which was a slice of cherry pie. This tasted like summer. It was a la mode, of course. This was a nice place to sit and have a drink. I'd love to come back for some steak.

We had dinner at Lucky's tonight. There were six of us and we enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and great service. To start we had wine and cocktails, onion rings and the grilled artichoke with drawn butter. Both appetizers were devoured! We also loved the pretzel bread and had to have a second basket. We enjoyed the Onion Soup Gratinee which some of us found a little bit too sweet. Of course we had the Lucky's Salad with shrimp, avocado green beans, and bacon. I love this salad and so did everyone else. We also tried the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach and really liked it. It's definitely a hearty meal! One of us had the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and it was very tasty. The special was braised short ribs that were melt -in- your- mouth tender. The burger did not disappoint either. For dessert we had the molten chocolate cake, tiramisu, and the creme brulee. Needless to say, we were full and happy upon our departure. We will definitely be back for the amazing chili too!

Good service, food, ambiance is cozy on the outside patio (fresh). The steak I ordered wasn't as flavorful or tender as I expected (hard to digest). We ordered baked potato with all the fixings and this was good.

Celebrated a friend's birthday here and the service and ambiance were fantastic! We had a group of 9 and all the food came out together and on time! We ordered multiple different steaks at different temperatures and everything was cooked perfectly! The reason Lucky's doesn't get 5 stars and my only real complaint is that although the food was cooked perfectly, the steaks and side dishes were fairly bland. They definitely could've used more seasoning to bring out the flavors. Also, the steaks weren't served as warm as I would've liked. Bringing out 9 orders at the same time is challenging so I'm not totally upset about this as it's understandable. Overall, If they up the seasoning on their food, this place is worth going to!

Came at around 2 pm on a weekday so was luckily able to find a parking spot and there was no line to order. If it's busy, good luck. Food was delicious and priced well. Shrimp basket - 10/10 Shrimp were fried perfectly to be honest. Got 6 shrimp over french fries (the fries were also great, thicker pieces that were fried perfectly). Tartar sauce was great, the cocktail sauce as well (and I don't normally like cocktail sauce). Filled me up great. Small clam chowder - 7/10 Pretty solid clam chowder. I probably wouldn't get it again, but the first few spoonfuls were great and very enjoyable. Some of the clam towards the bottom was more chewy which wasn't ideal. Got a bread roll as well and it came with oyster crackers. Spent roughly $30 total, around $20 on the shrimp basket and another $6-7 on the clam chowder. Would 100% come here again, highly recommend if you're in the area looking for some tasty seafood.

We've tried the grilled salmon in the past- and it's nicely cooked and tasty - but the star of the show is their fried offerings. What could be better than a crisply fried piece of cod with delicious fries overlooking the ocean? They do a better job frying fish than much more expensive places (looking at you Santa Monica seafood restaurant). The coleslaw is always fresh, and we also love the creamy chowder, chock full of clam bits. My one note is that they do not season their food so you need to add salt and pepper to everything. The coleslaw benefits from salt and a squeeze of lemon or a few drops of the malt vinegar on the table (also good with the fries of course). I'm not sure why they don't season their fish or batter - but maybe they figure it's best to keep it unsalted and people can add seasoning? There is also hot sauce on the table which adds the perfect zing to the chowder. The people who run the place are friendly and the place is especially popular on weekends. I'd recommend coming midweek either before or after peak lunch hours. Highly recommend.

The gentleman that rung me joked that they sold out of the wrap and when I tell you, I almost cried I was stressed but so relieved he was just trying to have some fun. I was happy to find out that I didn't have to wait back in line to buy merch. I bought the sweatshirt and sat down, finally cozy. My buzzer rang and let me tell you, that wrap is HEFTY! I'm a big girl but I could only manage to have half. It was delicious. Not too salty, each bite was so good. The salad was finely chopped, the tortilla wrap was toasted and chewy. Generous chunks of lobster, a sardine or two in there. My only wish would be that they would offer this online to order ahead of time. While I was at the beach I was able to text the store and ask if this was possible. Even though they said no, I would happily wait in line again for another. Highly recommend! The oysters are fresh, and there is a nice selection. The sourdough bread is lovely, served with delicious- butter, salt and radishes and it is complimenttary which many places no longer offer. I ordered the crab claws and they should be removed from the menu. I did not send them back because we had already had several issues and at that point I decided I would only return to this location for an iced tea and shrimp cocktail if I were in the area. Most of the claws were inedible, full of black slime, dirt, and who knows what else but it was disgusting. There is no other word I can use to sugar coat this. These are not stone crab claws from Florida if that is what you are looking for but they are stone crab claw pricing. It had zero flavor, and I couldn't eat half the bunch. The sauce, however, was perfect. But I wanted to enjoy the crab, not the sauce. We had the Greek Dorade fish and for $58, it was embarrassingly tiny. Less than an appetizer portion. Not a meal. The fish itself tasted wonderful but it needs appropriate pricing, even if it is shipped from overseas. $58 made no sense for a palm-sized fish. The wedge salad is just ok. The ranch should be more elevated. I love ranch, but I did not enjoy this one at all.I will not leave less stars than 5 because I don't believe in hurting a business because I genuinely want to see this place thrive. We sat inside near the windows and honestly it still felt like we were part of the outdoor seating with the ocean breeze and open vibe. Our server Brandon was great..super friendly with a good attitude and made the experience even better. We started with 2 dirty martinis with goat cheese stuffed olives. I'm not a huge drink person so I can't overly critique cocktails, but they tasted like a proper martini and were made well. Apparently they're known for their martinis. Of course we got oysters..4 east coast and 4 west coast. The east coast oysters were smaller and I personally liked those more. The west coast ones were creamier and a little bigger, but both were very fresh. Food wise: * Clark's burger was simple but really good. Thick patty, cheese, amazing pickles (seriously I could eat a whole jar of those), and skinny fries that were almost chip-like. I personally would've liked the fries a tiny bit less crispy so they felt more potato-y, but still good overall. * Tuna carpaccio was delicious and came with this garlic aioli-type sauce on top that was sooo good. * The crudo plate was super refreshing with capers and this citrusy sauce that honestly stole the show. I asked for lemon on the side and squeezing that on top reallllly elevated the flavor. The sauce was so good I started dipping my tuna carpaccio into it too lol. Overall it was a vibe. Great atmosphere, fresh seafood, good service, and a really pretty setting. I'll definitely be back to try their dinner menu too. If you want outdoor seating (which I highly recommend if the weather is nice), definitely reserve ahead because that area fills up fast.
