Been coming here for well over a decade, today was the last day ever. Management is the worst. My wife and I ordered two full breakfast meals, a $15 smoothie and a coffee. The coffee was undrinkable it was so bad, like there was something really wrong with it. Rather than complain, she just went next door and got two coffee drinks to go and brought them back over. The hostess let us know there were no outside beverages allowed, I pointed out we already bought two drinks and just wanted a coffee that wasn't terrible. She said the manager would come over. Manager said: 1) they know the coffee is terrible but they "don't control it". It's the beans, comes from some outside vendor, blah blah, made up stuff. What restaurant doesn't control their own coffee? 2) they are forbidden by regulations from allowing outside drinks, liquor laws or some other nonsense. I used AI, and then read the restaurant and liquor laws ... he just made that up, it's not true. No regulation whatsoever on outside non-alcoholic drinks by any authority over them. We asked for our food to go and will never be back. It's not that they didn't want to allow outside drinks, their property, their right, it's that the person running the restaurant just goes straight to lying. No reason to lie, and if they lie about that what else do they lie about? Ingredients? Hygiene? Food preparation safety? read more

The pancakes and the Loco Moco wasn't impressive. The waiter skills of taking menu request could have been better. Details on how and what is requested is very important. On the positive side, the restaurant has a great view looking over Wakikiki beach. Overall experience was horrible. First time trying this restaurant and I will never return again. The food was amazing! And our server Paulina was incredible. Super sweet and despite it being extremely busy we got our food perfectly prepared and very fast. Same with our drinks. Right next to our hotel and above Starbucks and ABC is Lulu's, a dog-loving and friendly place. Great for ocean-front view and people watching if you sit on the rail. We got a deal through the Park Shore for discounts here so we made full use of it and would do it again. Full local menu as well as some island style takes on mainlander food. Whilst there over a few days I had the fish and chips, spam and rice, Portuguese sausage, and my wife had a breakfast platter with bacon and eggs (she's haole...what can I say? LOL). All fantastic and all in the $20 range. The guava juice here is pretty good and they have a good selection of beers. If you're looking for a sports place this has a huge display of TVs and even surf coverage as you would expect. Cool collection of tourist shirts but not in your face. You can see them on the wall and just buy them if you like them. Nobody pushed us for any purchases at all. Wait staff attentive and courteous. They bring out side sauces whenever you ask and quickly. Wait times right in line, maybe five or ten minutes max. Right across the street they have beach volleyball courts, and a pier. I really hate to leave this review because we were excited to try Lulu's famous loco moco and had high hopes for our visit. However, there are some real issues that I believe need to be addressed by management. The first thing we noticed was that the restaurant's open windows around the perimeter allow pigeons to freely enter and roam the dining area. My husband, seated near the bar, actually had to clean up fresh pigeon droppings himself before heading to the restroom to wash his hands. A waitress nearby noticed the issue and ran over with cleaning supplies, but mentioned that this happens all the time, unfortunately, and staff keep disinfectant on hand for this exact reason. Throughout our meal, flocks of pigeons kept entering and wandering the restaurant, and it was clear the staff had given up trying to manage them. At one point, a group of pigeons gathered under a nearby table, fighting over scraps that unfortunately were under a customer's seat, and began swarming under her long skirt. As I walked past to the restroom, I heard her say, "They're ruining it!" while staff walked by unfazed, as if scenes like this were a normal occurrence. As for the food, it took the kitchen three tries to get my order right. I'm pregnant and my husband was open about the fact that I cannot eat undercooked eggs or meat when ordering my food, and ordered everything well-done and overcooked. The first Lulu's loco moco arrived with runny eggs. I sent it back and requested over-hard eggs, and it came back with well-done eggs - but an undercooked beef patty underneath, pink and red in spots. Undercooked ground beef is a serious food safety issue for anyone, but especially during pregnancy. I sent it back again, and by the time the third version finally arrived properly cooked, my husband had already finished his meal. The manager came by to apologize, but his response missed the mark. He mentioned that another pregnant woman recently had a similar issue, as if to normalize the situation, which didn't make me feel reassured. They ended up comping one of my husband's drinks, which felt misplaced since the problem was with my meal. It felt more like an attempt to limit the any negative impact on the restaurant than a sincere effort to make things right. While my husband enjoyed his Big Kahuna breakfast burger, I left feeling disappointed and uncomfortable about returning. Even a tasty dish can't make up for unsanitary conditions and undercooked food. read more

Lulu's Waikiki was such a fantastic experience! The view is unbeatable, with the ocean stretching out in front of you and Diamond Head as the perfect backdrop. The atmosphere is lively, relaxed, and welcoming, making it a great spot to hang out whether you're grabbing a meal or staying awhile. The food did not disappoint--the Lulu's Loco Moco and the fried rice were absolutely delicious, full of flavor and true comfort food favorites. I asked why they said because it was a party of 6. Mind you we have a 8 month old baby a 4 year old and a 8 year old. 3 adults. 1 who did not eat (nanny) So really it was 4 of us that ate yet they refused to remove the automatic gratuity. This ruined the experience for me. Ironically we usually pay 20-25% gratuity since in the Bay Area it is very normal .. but the principals behind it just left a bad taste in my mouth. Loved the spicy cauliflower bites as an appetizer. We both got burgers here with a nice gluten free bun. Little guy had chicken tenders and fries and enjoyed them. Lemonade drink way on the sweet side. Made up for it with a gin martini. Haven't been to Lulus in a long time it's nice to see it going strong. Alright, so this review is probably associated with timing. The food was quite good. I got the ahi poke which came in a shall and was marketed as an appetizer but was just the right size for a lighter meal. We came in the evening on a week day and it was really busy. So our server was good but a bit run ragged. They had a person playing the guitar up front and we were seated pretty much as far away from that as possible and still couldn't hear one another without shouting thing were turned up so loud. It was really way way too much. So if you want a place to go with decent food but you can't have a conversation if you tried, come here when they have music playing. Otherwise, avoid those times - not sure if there's a schedule posted somewhere - at some point I will have to try it again when that isn't going on. read more

We came during lunch around 1:30 We were seated promptly but took a while for someone to acknowledge us at our table. On a hot day in Waikiki I really wanted some water. Our server came around and wanted to take our entire order. I politely asked for some water and more time to look at the menu. I ordered the lava flow. I was disappointed to see the bar tender make this expensive drink as horrible as possible. Typically a lava flow is a frozen drink blended together. The bartender put strawberry syrup in the glass, then blended the coconut part and added to the syrup. I've never tasted something for almost $20 that tasted like straight syrup. For a price tag like that I was very disappointed they didn't make the drink with real strawberries or frozen ones. read more
