Friendly service and very good food but tonight we really felt like they were trying to turn the table. The waitress offered to take the appetizer while we both were chewing a mouthful of it. The same with the dinner itself and no offer of dessert. I know they have to turn the tables but if they are that rude about it, I will make a table free by not returning. Took my wife here for a date night last Saturday. She had a chicken quesadilla and I got a tamale with the pork. The servings were huge and the food itself was phenomenal! If you come here, you have to try their drinks. My lady got a mango mojito and she might have liked it more than her actual food. I only give this place 3 stars because it got super noisy, it's not a place for a quiet intimate meal. This is easily my wife's and my favorite restaurant. We come here at least once every two weeks. The tacos are the best anywhere, with a portion big enough to split. After going to Luna Maya for my mother's birthday last year, it has become one of my favorite restaurants in the Hampton Roads area. I have been there many times since, and have always had a great experience. I've tried many of their burritos, which were all tasty (my fav being the Burrito De Carne Asada). For a light appetizer, I would recommend the Spicy Guacamole. The guacamole is extremely good with a good kick to it, but not overly hot. And if you want to try something different, I recommend trying the Pastel De Choclo Con Chorizo, which is Bolivian corn casserole with spicy chorizo. It's by far the best dish I've had at Luna Maya. So in other words, when in Norfolk give this place a try. I don't think you will disappointed with the atmosphere, food or service! read more

This is a real cool pave with the best mohitos around. The staff is tall nice and friendly and they serve your food hot regardless of how packed they are. The staff really hustles. You definately get your monies worth and pretty much everything is good to eat. I had the pork burrito which was really awesome highly recommended. They have a small menu but it is a menu with all the right foods on it if that makes any sense. This is a great Mexican cuisine restaurant. The only gripe I have is that parking is a bit ridiculous in the evening but no fault of the restaurant it is just the location of the area. I will definitely be back. read more

Went with a friend on the suggestion of many. We ordered several menu items and found it to be better than average but lacking in seasoning/salt in a few dishes (the tamales were slightly bland but by no means terrible). We came for dinner on a Friday and it was crowded but I felt tended to. I made the decision to eat out on the patio and immediately felt terrible because my husband's friend was stuck sitting out in the (albeit setting) blazing sun. The umbrella at our table kept me covered but between the time of day and position of the umbrella there was no where for the friend to hide (so consider that element when choosing to eat inside or outside on the patio). My drink was delicious and the water glasses were filled multiple times. Overall, I would return but I wouldn't call it the best Mexican food I have had. read more

Luna Maya is consistently a great dining experience. The eclectic atmosphere in this Norfolk eatery, located in Ghent, makes for a neighborhood feel with an infusion of hip. Be sure to try the Margatini with Cayenne Pepper on the rim while you wait for your table. Not to be missed. The Burrito Colorado is a great dish and is sure to satisfy. All of the ingredients in the entrees are authentic and fresh. Dining out does not have to be expensive, just fine. Great food, great drinks, great service. Way, way too loud. Off the charts too loud. This is my second visit to the new location. We were doing a business dinner in the smaller back room and were seated with two other larger groups. The acoustics in that room are terrible. All hard walls with tin ceiling. This is the first time in my life I have ever complained about a restaurant being too loud - but that is how bad it was. Like having dinner in the first row of a concert. The food was incredibly good. Our group got a number of different entrees - all fantastic. We all had the tamale appetizer and it was very good. The mohitos and margaritas were great.
