DISHONEST! I currently have a maintenance contractor at home home. He offered to clear a non-draining AC water pan that is in the attic for $533. I politely declined because I figured I could clear clogged drain line myself. As the technician proceeded to check the outdoor units I went to check on the non-draining pan to ensure that it would not overflow before I got a chance to check it. Turns out that the pan could use some cleaning and does have water in it up to attached pvc/drain, but is draining as is designed. read more

I gave m.e. flow five stars only because I knew that people would read it. They actually deserve one star, and I will hereby explain why. I had five techs come to my house to assess and fix our furnace breakdown, and only the last one succeeded and was truly honest. Flow was the most dishonest of all; they wanted to replace five expensive things for 2,400 dollars. Their recommendation was of course to buy a new from them, predictably. My final and correct fix was from Muhammed at Dwight Muse mechanical. Total bill: 180 dollars. I have a ph.d as does my wife and she has been an ambassador twice. I own 3 rental houses, doing much of the work myself. We are credible people. M.E Flow is not. They should be on channel five news for being con-men, and their should be a federal government regulatory agency to chase these people down. read more

We had a contract with them. They fixed our AC and said "everything was ok with it", a week later it broke again. We called to get it fixed and they came and determined something was broken. They stated that they did not have the part and would need to order it and it would cost us around a grand to repair. After three days of no response in 90-degree weather, my family was left in hell. Our three dogs were extremely hot and my elderly sick Grandmother was left to the extreme heat. My 80-year-old grandmother dealt with the matter but was repeatedly ignored and told they were getting the part. They scammed my elderly grandmother. We had three fish die from the heat during this time and it definitely took its strain on the whole family in multiple ways. After being fed up, we contacted a different company which came and ended up informing us that "our unit was perfectly fine, and that M.E. Flow turned off our unit most likely to scam us into buying a part that we did not need at all. Dead pets, extremely hot weather, and elderly chronically ill residents were scammed and lied to. read more

I used M E Flow a few years back for multiple jobs - they were great. Had them come by the house last month for a small issue which only required the quick and easy switch out of a pump that costs around $150 (that would be my non-tradesman retail price). Plumber said the work, including new pump, would cost $825.00. Didn't mind the $176.00 service call, but did mind the plumber making a MESS of my utility room and REAL MESS of my bathroom (looked like someone washed muddy boots in the sink - yeah, that bad). Plumber didn't even offer to cover shoes when entering our house...seems like something small, but all other service businesses did it automatically. A real disappointment from my previous experiences w/ M E Flow. Will NOT be calling them again. Update: Had a REAL plumber replace the pump in less than 30 minutes. M.E. Flow...Pretty strange name for a business. Even funnier that it's the air blowing business (basically). But I digress. M.E. Flow (going forward will be referred to as MEF because I hate all the initials) is awesome. Hands down. It was that time of year to get the service contract renewed for my HVAC system. UGH. I couldn't let it go since we had that major snow situation in February which left my heat pump (which sits on the roof of my condo building) completely covered and surrounded by the white stuff. My previous contract was with another company that has gotten too big for their britches and was an all around pain to deal with. Plus, they charged a lot of money and their technicians NEVER showed up on time (even when given a 4 hour window). So, a friend recommended MEF. I am so glad she did! From the first phone call, the staff was courteous and explained everything up front. Their cost for an annual contract: $140. Done. So I asked, if I make my appointment now, will someone be able to come before I use my AC in June(ish)? They tell me they can send someone next week! (That other place had like a 3 month waiting list.) AND, they can even give me a "first call" which has a window of 8:00-8:30am. Even better. This can't possibly be for real? There has to be a catch. Nope. No catch. On my scheduled date, at 8:19am, Darren, my technician arrived. He immediately got to work to check everything inside my unit. He even vacuumed my filter (he liked my Dyson)! He checked everything outside next. And good thing I had called because both fuses had blown on my outside heat pump. Probably because of the recent snow. He fixed those right up and I have a clean bill of health on my HVAC. Darren was polite and professional and did a great job. I am so excited I found MEF and I would whole heartedly recommend the company as a whole and Darren as a service technician. They valued my time and my pocketbook. Called for a simple drainage problem in my kitchen sink, the plumber arrived and after 20 minutes told me that I may have to brake the floor in the basement because the pipe is broken and cannot snake it! Major work and a lot of $$. Called another plumber, 15 minutes and it was all done. Thank you for nothing ME Flow.....oh.....enjoy the $200 that you charged me! Do not recommend. Our technician was Dustin. He was timely, thorough and friendly. He appeared very knowledgeable. Although no one is very thrilled with an expensive repair sometimes they are necessary and I felt the technician did a good job diagnosing the issue. He even spent a little extra time trying to figure out if an unrelated heat pump could get started up to give us some heat while we wait for a part. I would call MEFlow again and in fact signed up for a service contract having had three good experiences in the past year with repairs to our aging HVAC system. read more

What a superb experience! Here's our story. Having had a couple of less than optimal experiences with contractors, we decided to invest in finding someone truly spectacular. Our first criteria: Only contractors with an A rating on Angie's list and at least 20 reviews. Second screening: A phone call with a few questions. Most disqualified themselves with the service charge for the initial visit, including ME Flow. But then an ME Flow manager called us back, saying he (and several others in the company) had reviewed the recording of my conversation, and that they would be happy to come out for free. They were also providing further training to the operator to make sure she can better handle calls such as mine. My husband and I were impressed. We were talking to someone who really cared! And the company had a systems improvement process in place. Wow - we'd never seen that before in the home contracting world. They came out (as did 2 others). Rodney - the supervisor was very personable and we felt high integrity. He did not try to oversell us what we didn't need (like one contractor who said we needed a new boiler for just $17,000), but he also caught some small but important things that the other 2 providers did not. ME Flow provided a very reasonable proposal (slightly lower than the next lowest bid). Simple. Straightforward. No loopholes for lots of extra add ons (like another proposal that came in). We accepted, scheduled the work, and they came right on time. First Rodney to set us up, then Jason who did most of the work, and another guy who supported them. My husband kept commenting on how well they cleaned up as they worked, actually mopping our bathroom! They finished up right on time, and the work looked beautiful. We paid then (not in advance - like another proposal wanted us to do), and there were 0 additional fees. We got a call a couple days later asking if everything was going ok (who else does that?), and we let them know we were nice and toasty through the snowstorm. They said they would come out in the next couple days to make sure everything was working properly, but then we didn't hear from them. We got an email a few weeks later apologizing for losing touch, and letting us know they had gotten busy with the snowstorm and wanted to schedule to come out. They came, checked everything out, and finalized a few touches. Our county inspector came this week and we passed. ME Flow's execution was almost flawless, and they addressed the couple small errors in a wonderful, customer service focused manner that gave us great confidence not just in their work but also in their company. read more

I had an issue with the air conditioning unit of my condo and contacted two HVAC companies (both recommended by the condo association) to explain my issue to get some idea of what the problem could be and estimates of what the potential cost would be to fix it. The first company I called was very informative and walked me through the process but stated that they would need to take the entire unit out of the condo (as they're not allowed to chemically clean it inside the condo) and clean it oustide of the building and reinstall it. Big job, big $$$ estimate. When I called M.E. Flow, I spoke to a guy named Rodney who explained the same thing, but went further to point out that 1) there are less intrusive ways to clean the unit and 2) though the unit needs cleaning, he can't imagine that my unit is somehow so clogged that it needs chemical cleaning when the A/C units in the condos next to me don't have any issues. When he explained the whole thing in detail, it made sense to me and I went with M.E. Flow. (I don't like to go with doctors that recommend surgery as the first option).... And I'm glad that I chose M.E. Flow because they cleaned the unit in the less intrusive way for a fraction of the cost of the other estimate and the diagnostics they ran on the unit afterward showed that it was working within specs. Following up on a review earlier this year, as I told M E Flow I would. The manager called to tell me that they had made a mistake, and that the $300 part they replaced was actually only $200, and said they'd adjust the bill. After several calls (many unanswered) the bill was adjusted. Still, this was a $20 part as I explained to them. Their response was:they need to pay for many costs: training, their fleet, salaries, building, etc. I told them that their service fees should cover the cost of the service and running the business, not the part - at least not at the magnitude that they are charging - and wouldn't a 100% mark-up (e.g. $40) be fair? Response was that all the larger Heating and A/C guys in the area do this, common practice, and that hiring a "mom and pop" outfit would get me into problems, because they may not be around in a few years, and offer poor quality service. I should add that they came out again more recently, told me that the exact same part needed to be replaced upstairs, but were careful to quote the $200 price tag. I declined, and had it replaced by a smaller outfit that actually charged $30 for the part, plus his labor. M E Flow must be an incredibly profitable business. I've been here and been a client for over 10 years, and who knows what they've been charging me for parts. I don't really want to know. read more

We just had our units serviced under contract for the winter. Our tech was a knowledgeable, polite professional. During his inspection he found our humidifier wasn't working properly and a call to "Frank" at the office got an estimated price of $379 for a solenoid valve. While he worked on the problem, I went online and found these valves priced from $40 to $99. I immediately called "Frank" who has yet to return my call. The tech said he has no authority to set prices...it's done at the office. We have rarely had a service call that didn't require a visit to my checking account. We're done being fleeced by these disreputable vendors. ( and we could have purchased a whole new humidifier for about $280). read more

ME Flow was recommended by Best Pick Reports of Arlington County. We were having problems with the our toilets backing up regularly. Originally, we thought the problem was with the toilets, so we had two toilets replaced and one rebuilt. Later we discovered a horrible smell emanating from the basement and subsequently found that there was a broken pipe in the crawl space under our house. The area had to be cleaned extensively before ME Flow could replace the pipe. After they replaced the pipe, the toilets continued to back up sometimes as often as twice a day. We asked ME Flow to bring a camera snake to see what the problem was. They refused. They insisted that the problem stemmed from "excess toilet tissue and large stools." We had another company bring the camera snake where they identified the problem as an improperly installed drain pipe. The secondary pipe was dropped lower than the main pipe, thus guaranteeing backups. The remaining old pipe to which the new pipe had been attached had to be replaced as well since water was pooling just beyond the joint. Our toilets flush perfectly now. I have contacted ME Flow twice to seek restitution and received no response. read more

ME Flow performed routine service on my steam humidifier in November 2018. In mid-January 2019, it failed. They wanted me to pay $100 for the service call to fix it. I said "no," and while the company quickly agreed to drop the charge, I am astounded that they thought they could get away with that. read more

ME Flow has replaced both my boiler and AC units. They have been friendly, courteous and extremely professional. The boiler was replaced DEC 15 and AC JUL 17. The AC went out on a Friday night and by Saturday afternoon it was up and running enough to get me through until Thursday when they replaced the outside unit and inside air handler. The guys were awesome! I've also had minor plumbing issues (60 year old home) that they fixed in a very timely manner. The guy came in and took 5 minutes to stick a tube down my AC pipe to unclog it, and then charged me $200. I do not recommend this company. read more

My recent experience with M.E. Flow has been very bad. I would totally send the plumber back if I weren't in the urgent situation. My basement had a flooding issue. The plumber is not helpful at all and blamed everything for being old. No explanation on how things went wrong or anything. He started with "everything I thouch is going to cost you something and I should therefore purchase the annual service plan". While making the appointment, I explained the basement issue and the potential heater issue. I was told that there will be a service fee but it will be waived if I decide to do the repair. However, the plumber said he was only told to look at the heater and the that is what the service fee about. Anything else would be additional charges. I had to go with him because I need to fix things before fixing the basement. Anyway, no more M.E. Flow and will definitely let others know. read more

My experience is, don't call these people, they will gouge you horrendously. Of course, that holds true for A LOT of HVAC companies, but ME Flow gets the award here because of my personal experience with them. Bottom line is, my HVAC quit because of bad batteries in the thermostat, and they told me I needed a new thermostat for $199 ($30 at Home Depot), plus a $96 diagnostic fee, plus new furnace igniters for $99 ($14 on Amazon). Don't tell me the tech did not know it was just bad batteries. His supervisor would not even return my calls, after I left him a message about what happened. In other words, it's dishonesty from top to bottom. Somehow, my previous yelp review detailing the problems I have had with this company have been removed. If you need work done on your HVAC, even minor work, get AT LEAST 3 estimates from various HVAC companies. I know it's a hassle, but unless you don't mind paying someone $300 per hour to do work that a barely trained guy with a screwdriver can do, you need to do so. If you don't believe me about ME Flow, get an estimate from them, too, and you will see that it will be outrageous. Try the smaller ones, too. A&A worked find for me in Leesburg, and they were 50 percent or more less expensive than other companies. read more

Called M.E flow to check my Ac since it was not produce a cool air. I gave them thumbs up for quick service. I called early in the morning, he came in the afternoon on the same day. Very fast. The reason i called Me flow because they are the company that my condo use for regular maintenance for semi annual HVAC checkup. I think they charged over price just for diagnostic $112.95. Technician said my capacitor is fail so it cause motor over heat so he recommended me to change both motor and capacitor for over$1k and no other option. He said he can just change capacitor but not guaranteed if how long will it work?? What kind of service is that? He try to explained to me how old of my AC, how often do i need to clean the vent. Seriously!! they came to do regular checking at my condo twice a year. Nothing has recommended me, I even showed him the latest report from his company. Also I try to use the coupon $30 for AC repair, he said that is for the price more than $500 but nothing said in their own website. However, I have to used them for this time but no more for sure. I live in high rise in Reston, VA and since the Condominium management/association uses M.E. Flow of Leesburg, VA to maintain the AC unites here, I decided to call them. They sent someone, David, to repair my AC. The repair took no more than 20 minutes and David changed one capacitor only. He charged me $357 ( with $30 coupon) for his 20 minutes and a $10 capacitor!! I send the company owner, Scott, a physical letter ( since he never answered my email) and he completely ignored my letter. The call that I made was on Friday morning and it was NOT an emergency or Saturday/Sunday call which means is was NOT a weekend call. I was assured by Donna, their secretary, that this was NOT a weekend call and they would charge me only a regular call and I made sure that it was a normal call before they came to repair the AC. And, Donna had initially set up an appointment for me for Saturday, but then she called me on Friday late morning and said that there has been an opening for Friday at 2:00 pm and if it was OK for them to come and repair my AC and I agreed. There are exactly 300 units in my building and I have been spreading the word to all condominium owners here with my very unpleasant experience and being way over charged. This services should cost no more than $150 maximum. I am also going to report this to the proper authority to let them know of such huge charges. Rip off and will never ever call them again. One star. Our AC died at the end of the summer and we called a few places to come out and look at it. A little credit to M E Flow for coming out on a Sunday, but that's where the half complement ends. The gentleman that came out gave us confusing a very confusing quote for the work we would need. When he took the metal door off of our AC control unit to check things out, he could not get the door back on so I told him to leave it propped against the wall and I would put screw the door back in later. He did not listen, and then dropped the metal door onto my floor cracking and splintering the base board. After that he still insisted that I pay the $95.00 dollar diagnostic/service fee. It is months later and I am still upset with myself for not refusing to pay the fee when there were damages done to my home. read more

Would not recommend using this company because they over charge plus use bait and switch sale tactics. I talked with Dale at ME Flow for calculation of the typical charge to drain and service a 50 gal hot water tank. He responded roughly $220 so I selected ME Flow for the job. When technician arrived, I thought that he quoted $250 after he surveyed the tank so I agreed to proceed. After the tank was drained and re-started, he said it wouldn't stay on. He then quoted me a total price of $650 to check and clean the burner box-- $350 for tank draining + $300 for burner clean. He claimed that this was a discounted price that I could only get if I signed up for the quarterly maintenance plan. He explained that I had misunderstood his original quote, which was $350, and disregarded my complaint that Dale lead me to expect less than $250. Of course, I declined using ME Flow for any more work and found a better and cheaper plumber. Bottom line-- I hope prospective customers see that these guys are egregiously expensive. Finally, I reached him late in the week and made an appt for Mon morning between 0730 and 0800. At 0810 on Monday morning, I called the office, said no one had made it out yet, and the woman (Lisa, I think?) said she would contact whoever was supposed to be coming out and call me back. She called back within about five min but said the person wasn't able to make it out because "something came up." I told her it would have been nice had they given me some advance notice since I was staying home from work. We've used ME Flow for a couple years now. They come out to do annual inspections of the AC and heater. Each time they come up with some reason for us to spend money on the newest latest and greatest invention in heating and cooling. This last time they suggested a $200 carbon monoxide detector. It's unclear why we need a $200 carbon monoxide detector when we already have three others in our tiny house. Today, my complaint is that they came out to do their annual furnace check and quoted me almost $400 to do a cleaning. They suggested that they could do the same thing last year for almost $100 less. I have since called twice to see why the drastic change in price for the exact same service. Each time they've taken my number and said they would talk to a service manager and call me back. Yet almost 2 weeks later still no call. It may be time to find a new heating and cooling company. read more

I'll start with the story soon but overall, I had a terrible experience with no closure. I needed a simple fireplace gas valve replaced. The valve was not replaced in the end. I called ME Flow to replace the gas valve which was leaking. A few days later a plumber arrives. The plumber did not put protective 'booties' on before walking on my carpet. I cut open the wall and he removes the valve. While removing it, he cuts himself and some blood makes it on the carpet. I quickly clean it. The plumber states the diagnostic charge and leaves with the valve stating I would hear back the next day for a repair time. The next day. I received no call from ME Flow by 4 PM and call them. I end up speaking with my plumber who informs me that they could not find fittings for the "TracPipe" (gas line). I am astonished as the building is only 14 years old. I refused to pay the diagnostic fee since they can't find fittings and do the repair. The plumber raises his voices to me and says he won't charge and I could pick up the valve at their office. I get off the phone to see what type of gas line I had to find my own fittings. It turns out the gas line was WardFlex and not TracPipe. The plumber mis-identified it although it was very easy to tell by looking at the gas line. I found the fittings online in five minutes. I called the next day to see if another plumber from ME Flow could finish the job. I speak with a manager who stated she would look into it after I told her the dilemma. I didn't hear from her within a day and called back. My call was never returned. I do not recommend working with this company. I previously had them repair a mixing valve on my water heater which was not tightened well enough. I had to fully tighten it. I live in a condo and cannot do these repairs by myself. They have a horrible track record with me and other customers I talk to as well. Try another plumber if you want the job done right or done at all. read more

The initial install crew were professional and knowledgeable, throughout the entire process they treated us and our property with the utmost respect. On day five we hit a huge problem, complete compressor failure and the brand new American Standard unit broke. We had a small problem with their answering service transferring the call to the wrong office and we got lost in the system. I started to believe we were heading down HVAC nightmare lane. I had one of their service technicians come out to my condo today (7/23) because my A/C unit can't keep up with the heat. The tech checked the HVAC and A/C unit outside. He found a few things that needed to be repaired for $1600. I asked him about practically no airflow in a guest bedroom and he replied "that's just how these condos are." If that's the case, then why do several other condos (same unit number in different buildings) have substantially more airflow than my unit with an identical HVAC configuration? The tech's suggestion was to buy an entirely new HVAC for $6100+ tl;dr: M.E. Flow billed me $97.95 to come to my condo and find out what they can charge me to repair. read more

I had the greatest experience with M E Flow. We are renters and couldn't get hold of our landlord when two showers went out at once, and this company got someone out the next day. When he arrived, he gave me an estimate of how much parts and labor would be, then helped me find the serial number on my old parts so I could save money and go get everything myself. This guy really went out of his way to make sure I wasn't paying a fortune, and came back the next day when I had the parts and got the job done with ease. He even treated my kids nicely when they were too fascinated to leave him alone! I couldn't have asked for a better plumber to come out and help us. Called ME Flow for an appt. to get a home re-pipping estimate. They mixed up the appointment, showed up on the wrong date and had me for the incorrect service (toilet repair?)
