Avoid Frosty's Heating and Cooling. I purchased a brand-new AC unit from them in December 2023 for $7,500.00. You would expect a company to stand behind a brand-new installation, but their integrity has been non-existent. The unit has never worked properly from the start. Within less than two years of service, major components began failing. Instead of honoring their installation, they have hit me with maintenance bills and suggested services upward of $1,000.00, totaling an additional $3,000 in unexpected recent failure of the systems compressor on what should last at least 10-15 years without issue and be an under-warranty within brand-new system. In other words the unit is not functioning and has experienced a catastrophic failure during this 90+ degree weather. The unit has now stopped working completely. Despite multiple phone calls, they refuse to come out and fix it correctly. The owner is actively refusing to service the unit by falsely claiming I "cussed out staff"--a convenient excuse to avoid fixing a faulty installation they already took $7,500 for. Because they refuse to honor their work, I am now forced to pursue legal action against them. It was a great experience when they were selling me the system and taking my money, but their post-sale support is terrible. I always try to support good businesses, but this has been nothing short of a financial nightmare. Save yourself the immense stress and use a company that actually honors its work and products. The system I ended up with was a great value. The crew was great to work with and kept everything super clean during the install. I've been a Frosty's customer for over a decade, and the company came through for me again when my water heater died over Super Bowl weekend. Once I realized the problem, I reached out the Frosty's and got an immediate reply. Not only did Frosty's figure out how to get my existing water heater up and running temporarily, to keep me in hot water, but they were able to schedule an expedited installation on Monday morning. The Frosty's installation team (James and Jerry) arrived on time. They were friendly, informed, and professional, explaining the process, and what I should expect. They were careful to put down floor coverings to ensure no damage to my floors and carpeting. The installation went by the numbers and the whole process took less than 2 hours. When I went to see the new unit and inspect the basement, you would never know the team had been there. Everything was as I had left it. I appreciate this small but essential courtesy. There's no getting around that appliances can be pricey, but the Frosty's deal and warranty were competitive. What made the difference for me was the attention to customer service. From my first call, Frosty's was in regular touch with me, ensuring the temporary fix to my old unit was holding, working over the weekend to get me a quote for a new installation, and keeping me posted on the expected arrival time of the installation team, so that I could better manage my own time. I was impressed that Frosty's reached out after the work was completed to ensure that I was completely satisfied. If you have air/heat/water issues in your place, please consider Frosty's. read more

After having issues with a mini-split, Frosty's provided some free over the phone troubleshooting that resolved the issue without requiring a visit. I have used Frosty's for about two years now on the recommendation of my neighbor. All work had been good up until now (hence the 2 stars and not the minimum 1), but that changed in March. On Friday, March 18, 2022, a technician came to our unit to perform annual maintenance on our HVAC system, as well as to chemically flush our tankless water heater. From what I understand, the technical portion of his work was done well and I have no complaints. However, during the course of the latter task, he used our bathtub to fill his bucket and broke the shower valve cartridge. He turned off the water with pliers, finished flushing the water heater, and then departed, leaving our tenants without a workable shower. When my tenant told me what had happened and I saw the description on the invoice (see attached), I immediately called Frosty's and left a message with the answering service. I did not receive a return call. Because Frosty's was unreachable to discuss the matter and because my tenant needs a working bath/shower, I hired a plumber to repair the damage to the tune of $350. Frosty's disclaims any damage under item 7 of the invoice terms and conditions, but also offers a Satisfaction Guarantee on their website which states, in part: - "They [technicians] will clean up when they are finished and take personal responsibility for your satisfaction." - "If, when they have finished in your home, they have not performed in accordance with these high standards, we won't consider the job done until you are satisfied with the results." In this case, the technician left the home in further disrepair than when he entered and therefore did not "clean up". He also did not "take personal responsibility", as he passed both the blame for the damage and the responsibility for the repair on to the customer. Furthermore, he only disclosed the damage to the tenant, who is neither the owner nor financially responsible; I had to find out after the fact. I reached out to Frosty's several times via phone and email about rectifying the situation - perhaps with a refund or even an account credit in the amount of the plumbing bill. Over 5 weeks and I have yet to receive a response. Frosty's cannot by their own words "consider the job done" because I am certainly not "satisfied with results." Additionally, Frosty's has a picture of their Better Business Bureau accreditation displayed on Yelp, but if you go to BBB you'll see they are not accredited any longer. read more

I called Frosty's after the heat in my condo stopped working. The tech told me it was an issue with the control board which would cost $1,307.85 to replace, but they might run into issues replacing the control board which could add onto that cost. So, he recommended I replace the entire unit for $8,173.42. I had another company come to provide a second opinion. They determined the water line needed to be flushed and the refrigerant needed to be recharged. For $384.95, the heat is back up and working. read more

Top notch service....I was fortunate to be serviced by the owner of the company for my emergency Saturday no heat call! Thankfully Frosty's got me set up with heat for my cold home when my AHS Warranty company couldn't service me until that Monday...The problem was assessed quickly, without any hidden charges or unnecessary charges that I didn't need....which often happens with the contractors provided by the warranty companies...they seem to make the job larger/more expensive than needed...Frosty was timely..honest...and offered exceptional friendly service! Frosty also followed up days after to make sure all was working properly and even spoke to the warranty company tech to let him know exactly what was done and what was remaining... The owner, James, came over and walked us through the various offerings, including which units qualified for the latest tax credits. James was very responsive and patient with our questions, and his extensive experience working in South Arlington was a definite benefit. His team showed up on time when scheduled and did a great job replacing the old ductwork in our attic. I bought a heating and cooling system from Frosty's about 17 years ago. I have just purchased a new system that will be installed in March. After the 10-year warranty expired, I continued to pay for a maintenance plan that had my unit checked twice a year. I had almost no problems with current unit--just it's expected longevity--and anticipate having the same experience with my new unit. Although it's clear that the quality of the unit itself is of utmost importance, I believe that the personnel maintaining it is extremely important as well. I have had the good fortune to have Phil R. maintaining my system which he has been doing for as long as 10 years. I request him each time I'm contacted to make a maintenance appointment. It was Phil with whom I discussed my new unit purchase and ultimate decision. It is Phil that I will continue to request. read more

We called Frosty's after calling another company that told us we needed to have our unit cleaned. After that service, the A/C still wasn't cooling well. I told the Frosty's agent when I made the appointment that I only wanted a diagnosis of the problem and the agent said it would cost $129.95. I agreed and scheduled. The tech showed up early and my husband, who's on an oxygen supply, told him he had to get his husband (me) who's upstairs. The tech said "Well how long is that gonna take, I have other calls." Then, when he came inside after looking at the outside unit he started explaining to me what he was finding and wouldn't let me ask any questions. He continued to interrupt my questions when I tried. When I told him I didn't understand, he said, "Well I can't dumb it down any more than I just explained." He said next time call someone else and then said we owe $300 for the work he did! I said I was very clear that I just wanted a diagnosis and he said, "Well you saw me working out there." I told him again that I just wanted a diagnosis and he said that I was refusing to pay and he'd charge the $129 and next time to call someone else. We will! I checked the "yes" box on their reliability because he showed up on time, but I can't speak to any other reliability. I don't know if the tech was reacting to our rainbow flag and my husband's reference to his husband but, in any event, telling someone on oxygen to "hurry" is just offensive. His attitude from the start was poor, and only got worse. Follow up: On Friday, I called the company to complain and was told someone would call me back on Monday. Today is Tuesday and no one has cared enough to call back. Really poor service both from the tech, and management. read more

Technician James called me back and said that before he goes out, perhaps thermostat has a battery that needs replacing. Called tenant back to check and that was indeed the issue. We used Frosty's for routine maintenance twice a year for five years. The work was fine. They have you pay for both visits at the beginning of the year, and the payment is non-refundable, which is reasonable. But when we moved across town in the early fall (within their service area), they refused to service our new address. The person on the phone said the contract was "non-transferrable," even though it was nowhere in writing. So they were basically going to charge us twice. I told her this would cost them our business, and she shrugged it off. So we had to have them service the old address right before we moved out. It would have been very easy for them to keep our business, especially since the prior owners of the new address had used them. But now we'll look for a company that values its customers. read more

Absolutely the WORST heating business I have dealt with in several years. Management is unorganized and unprofessional. Mary (VP) accused me of lying when I explained to her Dixie told me the service was free and on the day of service they changed their mind of the free service and gave me an invoice of $19,000, which was supposed to be for $190 for a year. When I opted for one time service and instead of offering a compensated/discount rate for all their mistakes, Mary threatened to send me to collections if I didn't pay $115. Stay clear away from this business and go to Air1Tech. There's a special place reserved for those who take advantage of innocent people in which eternal damnation is an endless time compared to earth's temporal time. He did a thorough maintenance job on my outside A/C unit, to include taking care of a nest that a mouse (RIP) had built, and a wire repair that avoided a potential fire. He took the full medical precautions and explained to me everything that he was doing. Recommend the service agreement for heating and cooling, this saves a bit of money. They do not consider the customer's best interest. I got an inspection of my HVAC system and paid extra for a part that the service person said needed to be replaced (total bill over $400). The system malfunctioned one month later and Frosty's tried to charge another $150+ for a revisit, b/c their "warranty" lasts 30 days and I called on the 33rd day. I would've spent much more than $150 to repair/replace the system, but their lack of grace about 3 days has caused me to lose trust in them, their quality of service, and their business. read more

Frosty's sent JAMES out to us right away and he took one look at the mess the other company had left and got to work on a solution. I called Frosty's for an emergency HVAC issue at a rental property. Over the phone, the technician mentioned a normal diagnostic fee would be $119, but for after hours, it'd be $219. Unfortunately, it was 90 degrees today and the house was already 80 degrees due to the issue cutting off AC early in the day. So I bit the bullet on the diagnostic price. Technician arrived sooner than expected due to a last minute cancellation. Received excellent service from him. He checked the outside unit and then moved inside, finally diagnosing the issue at the thermostat. Before installing, he quoted me the price on the thermostat and so it was clear I was going to be paying an arm and a leg for this. I agreed. Overall, the service was great. I appreciated them coming out on such short notice and the technician was prompt (called before heading over, quoted me an expected arrival, etc) and fixed my issue. I'm only 3 stars because the final bill was nearly $800. The $219 after hour diagnostic fee did not go towards repair (technician mentioned the normal diagnostic fee is negotiable towards repairs, but not the after hours)... and I was charged nearly $600 for a thermostat + install. I've installed the nest/ecobee tstats myself in about 30 minutes... maybe the honeywell/trane ones are more complicated? But this seems a pretty inflated price... Use them if you're desperate. I would shop around for better prices otherwise. read more

Their estimate came in $3000-$4000 over the estimates I got from two other companies for replacing my HVAC and hot water heater at the same time. Frosty's has earned our absolute loyalty over a period of 12 years. They installed our Trane HVAC system back in 2007 and have maintained it superbly ever since. Our most recent experience illustrates why we stick with them. We just had a worst case scenario when our system seized up at midnight leading up to the literal hottest day of the year (check the date on this review for reference). They came out promptly next morning, hours ahead of when we expected, on a no doubt insanely busy day for them, immediately diagnosed and corrected the problem. I called to schedule a duct cleaning for the Friday before Memorial Day & they told me they aren't working that Friday in preparation for the holiday weekend! 4 days in advance, huh? Best service around! Was able to get same-day technician visit on a hot summer day a few years ago when my old AC suddenly died. Tech was able to get it running and cooling again, but warned me that the system was old and on its last legs. Last June it died for good, Frosty's tech was again able to visit promptly & email me 3 choices of replacement by that evening. Very happy with new AC. Coincidentally, my elderly next door neighbor's AC gave out a few days later. I gave her Frosty's number & the president of the company came by that evening to check it out. This is the WORST company that you can get service from. The service is TERRIBLE. I was also told that the technician will come at 8-12 but they randomly decided to schedule the tech call from 12-4. I told them that I had to take off from work which is difficult and also that I have PETS that are having a terrible with the heat. I have a dog and two cats and have been suffering for the past week and the day comes for the scheduled appointment and the company screws it up. I spoke to the customer rep - SUE and she is very rude. She tells me there is nothing she can do and they I have to deal with this time. I will NOT recommend this company to ANYONE. read more

Frosty's is not a great company at all and the owner can't be trusted. I had an indoor and outdoor unit (brand new) installed by Frosty's. The installers at the time were great. One pointed out that the indoor unit was damaged and who knows if another one was ordered or not. I'm five years in and this indoor unit is toast. I've had to replace the motor and now there is a leak in the coils and I'm stuck having to buy another brand new unit when the first one lasted over 15 years. All dealings with the owner haven't been pleasant. Don't do business with Frosty's! Much better companies in this area and a lot to pick from. read more

Frosty's has been wonderful and I wish all service providers would be as prompt, courteous and professional. When we recently had the recent 100+ degree heat wave, our AC wasn't working properly and I sent an email on a Sunday asking about service for the work week. I got a response from the owner same day and he had a technician (Carlton) at our house 8am the next morning. Carlton was a delight and the type of person I felt very comfortable with having in my home--personable, professional, liked by my dogs. We then had an unrelated problem (vents that dripped that we knew about for a year but had forgotten was an issue when they came out for the other problem) with duct work shortly thereafter and again, same prompt, courteous service. Prior to this summer, the last time I used Frosty's was at my prior house years ago when the AC unit died and they replaced the unit at a great value and quickly and fixed some pre-existing shoddy wiring issues without charging me. I can't say enough good things about how prompt the service is, their can do attitude and my comfort with having each of their techs in my home. They were even good with my dogs! This is my first online review, though i have been using the internet for decades. I have justified my reluctance to join this community collaboration by relying on the belief that making assertions based on a single event may not be completely fair and that joining this network of contributors entails the responsibility of being consistently involved. And, of course, there is enough negativity on the internet. However, never before have I encountered an organization that has developed procedures for utilizing negative customer service tactics to create a positive income stream So my hope is that by entering this online community I may prevent someone else from repeating the error I made by hiring Frosty's We own on older condo in Arlington that is a rental. The HVAC system went on the fritz, and the original installer retired during the repair process. I called Frosty's because they are close and I have seen them in the area. I described the issues in detail and let them know at the time that our tenant would be out of town the following week and it would be best if I could have the work done then. I was told they would need to send a technician out to make a diagnosis, but they were willing to fit me into their schedule on the day and time our tenant was available . I drove to their Colvin street location, signed the paperwork, and gave them a check for the 129.95 diagnosis fee. Larry went to the condo to perform the diagnosis and sent this report on 7/29. work performed. Work performed: Recommend disconnecting the line-set at the indoor and outdoor units and blow out with nitrogen/RX11 to look for restrictions or sludge. Owner stated that he has gone thru 3 compressors in a short amount of time, all shorted start winding to ground, he is convinced there is a restriction in the line-set. This needs to be verified as well as making sure the indoor coil isn't restricted. Two filter driers in system (liquid line outside of outdoor unit, inside outdoor unit). Will work up quote. ***NWD*** Needs Work Done ­ Need to work up quote for work to be done. Need to verify whether or not the problem is with line-set/indoor coil. Need nitrogen/Rx­11, 2 men, 4 hours, Rothenberger Press, 2: 3/4" Rothenberger couplings, 2: 3/8" Rothenberger couplings. I called Frosty's on 7/30 to check the status of the quote and to attempt to schedule the work for the following week. I spoke to Stephanie who said she would text when she sent the email with the quote so I would know to respond.. The silence has been deafening. So for the 129.95 diagnosis fee, I got a tech coming out, saying the unit is broken, and that he needed to work up a quote to make a diagnosis, and nothing else. No return phone call. No e-mail with quote. No explanation. I have begun my search again for an honest, responsive HVAC company. I will update this review with the resolution of my issue. But believe the negative reviews. There are customer-oriented HVAC companies in the area. Frosty's is not one of them. read more

So far, customer service has been nothing short of great. Our A/C hasn't been working and before it starts getting very hot, we wanted to see what has been going on. We were able to get an appointment next day from the friendly staff over the phone (I believe we spoke with Stephanie?). Today we had the joy and privilege of meeting Todd when he came to service our HVAC unit. He was punctual, called when he was on his way, and was very professional. He was incredibly knowledgeable and thorough in explaining what he was doing and why he believed certain repairs/replacements needed to be done. He paid attention to detail and did a great job at fixing the wiring issue of our compressor to buy us some time in reaching a decision about what to do in the long-term with our old unit. He advocated on our behalf to get us the best possible deal for other work which we will eventually have to do. We know of other people in our building who had similar work done by other companies/technicians and were charged much more. He was also just an all-around good person.
