I didn't need a diagnosis, since I told the dentist that my implant was loose. He decided to take a ct scan, charge me for it and charge me for his false "diagnosis." $290 later.. he told me I need a New crown and wanted me to pay $2900 to return for 2 more visits to "fix" it. I Declined his outrageous treatment plan, knowing my implant was just loose. I waited until Monday with no problems and went to my dentist Dr. John Vartanian (Newport Beach) who did the implant for me. He tightened the screw and I was out of there in 10 minutes for free. I believe SoCal Smiles owes me $290 back for their unnecessary scan and incorrect diagnosis. They were trying to sell me something I didn't need and I'm quite upset about how this was handled when I brought it to their attention. This is a basic payment record that should have been provided promptly upon request. Your continued failure to provide this documentation has seriously damaged my trust in your office. I initially wanted to trust your doctors and staff and believed that the information I was given regarding my mother's treatment and insurance benefits was accurate. However, I now have serious concerns about the information provided to me by your insurance coordinator regarding my mother's benefits. Based on what I was told, we proceeded with the treatment and paid $1,350 out of pocket. If prior authorization or verification with the insurance company was required before beginning treatment, that should have been clearly explained and handled before we proceeded. Instead, I feel that we were given incorrect information and were left responsible for a substantial out-of-pocket payment. What makes this even more concerning is the fact that your office has repeatedly delayed providing the official receipt for that payment. At any professional medical or dental office, a patient should be able to obtain documentation of a payment without repeatedly calling, texting, and following up. This entire experience has been extremely disappointing. The communication from your office has been inconsistent, and I have found the responses from your staff unpleasant and disrespectful. Not only did Dr. Gina beat the other places in price, she is really sweet and understanding. You never feel intimidated asking questions, which I really appreciate since I'm more on the timid side. I ended up getting veneers instead of composite bonding. A lot of places will try to upsell you and have you do 6-8 teeth, but Dr. Gina recommended I only do two teeth since I'm young. She keeps up with modern technology. We did a mock up of the teeth and the veneers are made in a lab. The technology she uses also tells her how much to shave off. My veneers blend seemlessly, not bulky and the color is an exact match. The time I came to try my veneers, I asked for more of a rounded shape, and they sent it back to add more, which I really appreciate. Dr Haz took the necessary precautions to protect my baby's health while pregnant and ensured my dental hygiene was good without doing unnecessary interventions. I changed dentist due to having no issues prior to my teeth except typical fillings and that dentist tried saying because I was pregnant (only 1 month at the time) that I needed a deep cleaning with local anesthetic. Needless to say I went to Dr Haz and she confirmed that was unnecessary and excessive. She performed a hand cleaning recommended a quick filling since my molar filling was worn out and I was out the door!
