The value you get from their menu is MIND BLOWING. I had a friend describe this place to me and I almost didn't believe them. I knew I had to make a trek out to Ktown to see it with my own eyes. Little did I know I would be walking into my new hyper fixation meal. I ordered the tteokbokki with added ramen noodles as well as the skewered fish cake. I coudn't have paid more than $16 for the meal which nowadays is comparable to the price of a low-quality combo meal at a fast food chain. I know which one I'm choosing any day of the week. Enough raving about the value, the TASTE is where it's really at. The tteokbokki was cooked to perfection and the sauce was superb. There was an excellent balance of sweet and umami. Probably the best tteokbokki I've had so far. Ramen was done just right. The fishcakes on the skewers were huge. Safe to say, I had leftovers for dinner. I've tried the tteokbokki and chicken mayo rice bowl both times. The food was decent tasting and a steal for their pretty cheap price. The portion sizing was also on the bigger end, even when I ordered small. Now the real issue here is also the absurd wait time. Came here on a Sunday around 7 pm. As usual, parking in the Koreatown area can be tough but luckily I found street parking and there are garages around. When you walk in, there's a stand that tells you to order at the counter then they'll bring it to the table and next to that is a stack of menus. Simple menu with unbeatable prices!! The inside is small and casual, with the walls covered in art and writing from customers. We decided to order a small fried chicken sweet & spicy ($5), a small order of fish cake ($5), a small order of tteokbokki ($5,) and a medium tempura ($10). Order came out to $27 without tip! We also wanted to get a bulgogi kimbab but they were out of all kimbab by the time I ordered. Food was ready fast. And while everything wasn't the best ever, it definitely hit the spot and was super filling. $27 worth of food was filling enough for 3 of us. The tteokbokki was chewy, slightly spicy, and sweet. It also came with a few slices of fish cake. The tempura was flavorful and super crunchy, it came with shrimp, calamari, seaweed rolls, and dumplings. I liked dipping them in the tteokbokki sauce. The fried chicken was super crispy too and had a yummy sauce on them. There were 3 fish cake skewers in the small order and they were so soft and went well with the savory broth which I drank as I ate the skewer. This was a great meal! I would definitely come back!! Even just for a snack before hitting a different restaurant would be a good idea. I would like to try the kimbab sometime and will likely bring more friends and family here to try.
