I don't love Pennywort juice, but Ma Juicy changed my mind. While staying traditional, I love that they transformed it to be more catered to the younger community. Coconut milk and pennywort is genius. The drink is so refreshing and creamy at the same time. They also had a great deal, if you purchased two drinks you get one free Pennywort juice or Wintermelon juice. We purchased four drinks and got two free small juices. The drinks here are pretty refreshing and honestly naturally sweeten I feel like. The peach tea didn't feel artificially sweetened and I absolutely appreciated that it's not overly sweet here. The sugar cane mix with coconut juice was SO GOOD. It's VERY refreshing and if you need a sugar fix, this would definitely do the job. I wish I had ordered it, but the peach tea hits the spot too. The staff was kind, and incredibly helpful when it came to questions. They made the drinks quickly and made sure to double check your receipt for pick up (we came when they were a little busy). The store itself is super cute and decorated with self affirmations and daily reminders. Really interesting concept! Usually pennywort reminds me of like the Chinese old school medicine you want to avoid, but this place makes pennywort way cooler and taste better! Grew up drinking pennyworth and eating durian so I really loved the PJ Durian drink! They used a durian purée that was smeared around the cup so it kind of turned into a milk tea once you shook it. The good: It's not everyday you find a place that specializes in pennywort drinks. I've only been to one other place in San Jose that specializes in these drinks. Though they specialize in pennywort (rau ma) drinks they also have sugar cane (nước mía) drinks, teas and coffee drinks. I tried #18 (pennywort juice with coconut pudding and durian). The drink was refreshing and not too sweet (the ultimate Asian compliment for dessert). The drinks were made quickly. The coconut pudding was cut in small slithers so it was easy to slurp with a boba straw. It tasted like real coconut and was much better than the coconut jelly stuff they put into drinks at other boba shops. The sign here said pennywort detoxes the liver. It supposedly has antibacterial effects so it's a win win! The bad: It was super hot inside. I was sweating. Maybe it's me being 9 months pregnant but that place could've used a little airiness and circulation. The drink cost almost $8. I don't think they had outdoor seating. The interesting: The interior is super cute and trendy. They have modern Matisse-like-art and lounge chairs. It's aesthetically pleasing and feminine. They have something called crunchy boba here. I've been to the first location and it did not disappoint. I was originally in this plaza to get food when i spotted Ma Juicy next door and screamed! I heard about them having a second location, but didn't realized it was in the heart of Little Saigon. Very nice location, only problem is that parking there can be a bit tough at times especially during peak hours since it's a very busy plaza. The establish is towards the left hand side of the plaza and easy to spot. This location is a bit smaller, but yet still just the same as the first one. Artsy, cute, tidy and clean. The restrooms you need a code to enter so do remember to ask a staff member. As far as their pennyworth drinks, I know are good. This time I wanted to try something a little different. I actually got help from a flyer advertising avocado milk...I believe that's the name. Its swirled avocado along the inside of the cup and topped with ice and milk (maybe it was a smoothie?) Anyways, it was overall good, but had a light hint of avocado flavor. It could have been my fault since I felt it was too pretty to shake up. I also ordered a lychee tea and it was super refreshing. I've been to the brookhurst store but it was my first time here at the bolsa store. Was running errands in the area and wanted to get some coffee. I usually order their house coffee with pink salt cream, but once I saw that they had Einspanner coffee, I tried that instead. The worker was sweet, but she wasn't able to adjust my drink for me. I asked for a regular size but extra ice in a large cup because I like my coffee extra cold but she wasn't able to fulfill a simple request. I offered to pay for a large size, but the coffee drink only came in a regular size. She said its the owners' rules. The coffee was good, but the ice level was not good and my drink didn't stay cold for very long, so I didn't finish half of my drink. I tried this drink at the Asian garden mall weekend night market. Concept reminded me of my last visit in Vietnam. I tried the coconut juice with penny worth drink and fell in love. This location is conveniently close to the Asian garden mall. I've beeen here a couple times already and I always get the same drink. Their 70% runs sweet so make sure you adjust it to 50%.
