Cheese was funky, smelled/ tasted like it had gone bad..when let her know she just said ok, then took bowl w/ fork in it so I had nothing to eat my salad with. Had to flag her down to get a fork, then she came & asked if I still wanted that dish.. I said yes pls, but hold the cheese if it's the same sour cheese as before. Cheking was a bit glitchy but once we were seated everything was okay. Service was fast friendly and professional. Once looking at the pizza we couldn't decide between the Sequoia and the Thai Pizza so we ordered a large pizza that was half and half. Both types of pizzas were exceptionally fresh and delicious. We ordered pizza and pasta for the kids and there were also delicious. It was the first that my son finished almost his entire pepperoni pizza. Dessert was also exceptionally GOOD. After a little misunderstanding and being short staffed due to this global chaos we're at, Alex, one of the managers, took really good care of us and made sure we were all settled. We arrived for lunch. Host seated us very quickly. Table was clean but still wet. My wife's bench seat was also wet. She took both napkins and dried them. The interior is decorated in a "Montana" theme. The menu is smaller than MacKenzie in Kalispel, but still a large selection. For lunch we ordered Lodgepoles, salads, chicken quasadela and a 1/2 Rubin sandwich. The food was excellent. The marinera served with the lodgepoles is excellent. The lunch was hot, everything tasted very good and the service from our server was excellent. We now have a new lunch/dinner location in Belgrade. read more

Hostess asked how many when we arrived then said nothing as she walked away so we followed, she sat the menus down then walked away. No words just a glare then walked away. Looking around I see maybe 6-7 tables with people and possibly 3-4 servers. After sitting for 10 minutes the hostess came over and quietly asked what drinks we wanted, brought them to our table and said the server would be right with us. Another 5-10 minutes passed before a server showed up - even though she was standing 10' away seeming to ignore us the whole time. She was very quiet so hard to hear. There is no sound deadening in this building so the screaming children, the pointless music playing over the speakers and the workers sliding chairs around makes it impossible to hear the person you are here with. Our table and seats had a lot of crumbs and was still a little dirty and apparently the server can't clean so she had the hostess do it, after we had to point it out to the server because she ignored it. I ordered a thin Rancher minus onions and green peppers, easy on the sauce and cheese. It arrived with regular amounts of cheese and sauce. Can nobody do easy on the cheese at least? Easy means LESS not the same. It was a still good pizza. My wife ordered the Pear and Bleu flatbread starter/appetizer. She also had the chicken quesadilla appetizer. Food was excellent except they used to thinly slice the pears, now they are cubed. One time the server returned and got a refill for my wife's water but I never saw her again so my drink remained empty when I really wanted more. Overall the food was good. Ambiance, cleanliness and service was terrible. Speak to your guests so they can hear you, this is not a library. Return to the table more than twice after the main course is served. Stop ignoring people, serve them with a smile, excitement and you might get a tip you actually worked for. What a strange place! So, brand new and well-decorated. Kinda rustic and fancy, all at once. There was a sign that read something like, "Please be patient, we are way understaffed." Oaky, I get it. Many place are. Then, as I sat, waiting for my food, I noticed two young ladies in the kitchen looking lost. One was flapping her arms like a bird, not really sure what that meant, but it had little to do with the ABCs of a commercial kitchen. Another, after listlissly checking some of the food orders already waiting to be given out, choose to talk to her BFF. For more than ten minutes. My order, aparentlly, sat there, while she gosspiped with her BFF. "I mean, he told me to check on the order, but there was no name that went with any of the orders, so what was I supposed to do?" More gossip about what turned out to be my order, until her manager lit a fire under her and asked her what I was waiting for. Once torn from the eternal gossipy bonds of adolescent friendship, she realized that I had been waiting for an order that had been sitting for more than ten minutes. Oopsie. I'll start with the positives. The restaurant was very nice! Our food was equally impressive. I had the baked chicken Alfredo and my wife had the tomato basil pizza, both were fantastic. The beer selection was impressive, as was the wine choices. And last but certainly not least, our waitress Chancy, was very tentative and professional. Nice job! Now, for this part it isn't necessarily anything the restaurant has done. When we arrived at 6:30 there was a full waiting area. But while getting our name on the list I couldn't help but notice there was atleast 12 or so empty tables. After being seated I realized why. There was only two waitresses. So, if you show up and have to wait, just be patient. If your food is taking longer than normal, just be patient (we were pleasantly surprised! It was worth the wait). There were 6 of us, we put our name on the list at 645, waited until 710 to be seated. There were only 4 parties at the restaurant. Took 8 mins to get a drink order put in, and another 5 to get them. Then we ordered food, from the point in which we ordered food, it took an hour and 10mins for us to recieve food. 3 more parties were seated between when we ordered and all recieved their food prior to us. When we finally got it, the pizza wasn't cooked completely, dough was softer and colder than one would like. Dirty dishes were not cleaned off the table in a timely manner (or at all for that matter) One of our beers got sent to another table without our request, and they had the audacity to charge us for it? They Then wanted to charge us full price after receiving such terrible service, and it took me commucating with management to knock even half off our bill. We asked our server if it was his first day, he said he had been there 2 months. Server blamed kitchen staff, but kitchen only makes what they're told, when they're told, maybe if he wasn't trying to flirt with the hostess he could have done a better job. I will always have a special nostalgic place in my heart for Mackenzie River! Plus it doesn't hurt that the food is unique and flavorful. This trip my family and I shared the scrumptious Thai pie which is covered in chicken, peanuts, Thai sauce, green onions, bell peppers, and cilantro. So much fun flavor on this pizza! We order extra chicken on ours. We also ordered my favorite sandwich- the smokin' turkey. On their delicious bread with feta, smoked turkey, spinach, olives, and a pesto Mayo. Served with blue corn chips on the side. Again, really great combination of flavors. This location is probably one of the smallest in Montana... and the service was a little slow- but the management noticed our long wait for food and rectified the situation for our table. Super impressed! Finally we were able to try the Mack baked cookie dish- of course tasty. Gooey cookie in a cast iron with ice cream- I've never had a bad one of these. Hard pass. We have tried the Belgrade location twice recently. Both times the pizza was undercooked, doughy, and lukewarm. The cheese wasn't even melted all the way through. Seriously, take and bake pizza from Albertsons is better quality. The service was terrible, it took forever to get our food ordered, our server was standing around talking, the restaurant was only about 1/3 full on a Saturday evening. I've been eating Mackenzie River Pizza since it opened in the 90s and I can 100% attest that it has gone wayyy downhill. I can only describe the food as gross. Do better!!!! read more

We tried this location as we usually enjoy the one downtown. Won't be back. They tried, but fell way short. It was crowded and there had been a large party there, breaking up as we were seated. The table top Was clean, but underneath there were crayons and used napkins. Our server was clearly tired and tried, but we had to ask for napkins, plates, and silverware when our appetizer arrived. Nobody cleared plates at any point. The food was mediocre. The nachos were over cooked and tasted like olives all over (seemed they just tossed them on, getting juice everywhere). We were a party of 4; 2 ordered pizzas, one sandwich, and one pasta. Both pizzas were grossly undercooked (uncooked dough visible). One pizza had far too much cheese on it. The pasta was not cooked the same way it is downtown. It seemed to be ladled from a a larger pot with the fixings placed on top. The bread crumbs usually toasted on the top we're just sprinkled on. To start we ordered the lodge poles that were delicious. I ordered the lunch duo ( spinach salad and pepperoni pizza). The salad was loaded with toppings (feta, onions, pecans) unlike most places. A search for pizza near the Bozeman airport led us to this place, and it was a pretty fortunate find. We were ravenous after a very delayed flight, so that could bias things a little. But we really enjoyed the pizza, and service was very friendly and prompt. A small pie was perfect for two people. We ordered the Madison, which could have been over-cheesed with mozz, cheddar, and ricotta along with mushrooms and bacon. But it was actually quite nicely portioned, with big chunks of fresh mushrooms and the perfect amount of bacon. Sauce was on the sweet side. The regular crust was the only thing that was a little off, although not terrible. Just a little on the doughy side and underdone. They also have a thin crust option that I would be curious to try. read more

I ordered 2 sandwiches and it was a standard wait time, but when I arrived they were extremely slow with the staff just hanging around in the down time. When I showed up they forgot half my order and they other half was completely wrong. As someone who waited an extra ten minute, left a tip, chips were stale and paid more for an order I didn't get. On our trip back to Montana this year, we dropped by this MacKenzie River Pizza location on our trip up north and it was delicious! We got a pizza, half-Madison and half-Bear Tooth Sausage. Both halves were unique and different (the fresh ricotta on the Madison really takes it up a notch)! We wrapped up our first Montana 2018 meal with the DOC holiday from their seasonal menu and it was blissful. You can't go wrong with a warm skillet cookie a la mode, and when I'm in Montana I try to load up on huckleberry everything-- it was everything I wanted and more! Don't waste your time or money, the servers are good! The food is horrible. The food is not consistent with the Bozeman restaurant, as a customer that has been going to Mackenzie River for years. When you order a simple Willow Creek the Belgrade location is clueless as how to make it. The restaurant is dirty as well....the excuse is always the same. Surprisingly good pizza with lots of specialty ingredients. Large variety. New York/hand tossed crust is available along with thin. The crust is good. Particularly liked the Madison pizza with bacon,mushrooms, Fresh ricotta, mozzarella, cheddar cheese. The humble pie with olive oil garlic, spinach, asiago and fontina and ricotta cheese was pretty good too. Apple chicken flatbread was particularly good. Cute decor and friendly staff. I just ate there at the McKenzie River Pizza in Belgrade with a friend. Neither one of us were impressed. The turkey, bacon, avocado, lettus,mayo. The bacon was bacon bits, not kidding. the bread or roll was there times the meat, you could not eat it as the bun was way too big, I finally had to take one half of the bun off just so I could eat it and all the bacon bits kept falling out and would not stay on the sandwich..Then it came,, for two sandwiches which were mostly bread and one squirt it was 29.50. WHO charges that much for two sandwiches and a pop?? I cant even rate this review as it was awful and not too make it worse , I had the screaming you know what after for an hour.. Nice pizza joint! They offer a few pasta dishes that are all good! Their pizza is very good, but only on the thin crust....at least for me. Sandwiches are so so. Nice selection of craft beers! Be prepared for a wait usually. They have a big turnover in staff from what I've seen, so it can vary each time you're there. But we still love it! The one in Bozeman is also very good, but because it is downtown, it gets busier. read more

Stopped in for mid-afternoon lunch while travelling through the area. Sign said severely short staffed and a wait should be expected. They were right about that but honestly, those that were working were not putting in much of an effort. Took 39m to get a plate of nachos to share. When they arrived, they obviously had been in the oven for far too long as the cheese was burned into chips they didn't seem to think it was a problem and presented it as if nothing was wrong. Great atmosphere and decor. When you walk in you feel like you are in a log cabin and can see the food being made. The artichoke dip was amazing! The black corn tortillas were soft and s great pairing. The chicken Alfredo was delicious as well and came with just the right sound of everything. The meat lovers pizza left me wanting a little better. The cheese was not fully melted, the toppings were almost to big but even able to take bites of them and the crust was underdone.
