Looking at their menu, I most likely got the Ceylon Black Tea (Iced) - 30% Ice (Less Ice), 0% Sugar, Green Tea Jelly, Boba. I remember the tea pretty good. Not as strong as I prefer, but not weak like some tea spots. This may have been the first time I had green tea jelly. I'm more of a grass jelly person. It was a decent substitute. And the boba was soft with a nice chew. Ordering was easy thru their kiosk. Tho if you have a large party ordering, sometimes you feel like you are holding up the line. The sugar level was definitely better than the ESSJ location(other location was way too sweet). With 100+ locations in Taiwan, you know it's the real deal. I went to their grand opening on both days, because the line was actually very short. I'm not sure why. Their drinks are pretty good, but maybe people didn't like the restrictions for bogo drinks? We got: Bo-Bo Grape Smoothie - omg, it was so good. I don't usually love crystal boba (bo bo), but I loved it in this. I thought the bobo was actual grape until I read the menu again lol. The green tea jelly was also great. Bo-Bo Strawberry Smoothie - I think I liked this one even more! Strawberry is kinda basic, I know, but their strawberry smoothie is the best I've had in a while. I was stoked when I saw Taiwanese-originated MACU was coming to the Ranch 99 Cupertino plaza. But my excitement died down quickly. MACU Taiwan's seasonal strawberry slush boba drink was my go-to drink when I visited Taiwan earlier in winter this year. It was so good that I couldn't stop thinking about it and was hoping they would have that in the Norcal MACU store (which they didn't). Their menu was pretty different from the Taiwanese version, but they have the basics like milk teas, fruit teas ("LiLi" series), salted cheese ("ChiChi") and specialty drinks like their "King of the Mango" smoothie (seemed like too many textural toppings for my taste) We went on a weekday 30mins within opening, and they had NO boba ready. The bobarista working the cashier stated that the boba was sold out. I feel like logistics need to be ironed out. How can you not have boba ready when you open? If you see other popular boba spots up here, they have their bobaristas FLYING through the orders and the toppings prepped well before they open. They also only had two people working, so that just shows you that their demand and hiring process is still slow. We went with their agar boba instead (the translucent ones), which were QQ but still would've hit different with their brown sugar boba. Their regular boba milk tea was aite, I mean 0% sugar is pretty standard across all other boba joints...and the agar boba was chewy. But if I wanted a standard milk tea, I would go to my fave TpTea for their delicious and aromatic teas. I wouldn't try MACU again, not within the first year while they figure things out. I was kind of disappointed, but I should have known that nothing will top boba straight from the Motherland. I got light ice but they crush the ice and it's sort of blended into the drink so I'll probably get medium ice next time because I would like the cold to last longer as I drink slow. Normally I tend not to order milk teas nor fruit teas that I know will likely be a syrup. However per their recommendation and #1 in popularity, I tried the peach black milk tea. Definitely something I normally would never order but my husband wanted to try it. I actually found it to be great and different, and I assume it's not syrup. I have seen peach black tea or peach oolong before as the aroma infused into the tea leaves. I think that's what they are using here, or at least that's what it tastes like to me. I have found myself specifically craving this drink and asking my husband if we can go to macu tea to get it. It's my second time having it, my first time was in cupertino location and I enjoyed it just as much. I also got the eco bottle this time and it's huge for only $9. Located in a developing food court next to 99 and decided to try it since I was waiting for lunch from another place inside. Decided the first drink on the menu which I think is also one of their most popular drinks and signature drink King of Mango - Set drink, cant customize the sweetness or ice which is fine since it's their signature drink. Layered so it looks pretty Mango purée, mango jelly, and grapefruit. Overall I think the drink is ok but the issue I had was the mango purée which I'm glad to know they use real mangos but sure which type mangos they used but it had mango shreds that I couldn't slurp and had to spit out. I've had other mango smoothies from other boba places and never had this issue. If I come back, I'd try something else. read more

When my mom's friend told me there was a new boba location in Cupertino, I had to check it out for myself. Macu's location is within the Ranch 99 food court, along with other restaurants and boba places. It's definitely a spot people pick for convenience or when they want a quicker meal. There's the option to sit down and enjoy your food, but in a dining hall-esque manner. What first stood out to me was that Macu actually doesn't offer any adjustments in the level of ice and sugar for their specialty drinks. Most people I know balk at the idea of full sugar and full ice, but I decided that I'd want to give it a shot and see if Macu's most popular drink (a very unique one at that) was worth doing their way. The King of Mango smoothie includes a motley mixture of mango smoothie, grapefruit, coconut milk, and green tea jelly. I asked whether I could get a substitution on the green tea jelly to be boba, but I was met with a no. I was informed that I could add toppings, but not change the existing ones. I decided to continue with the order, sans boba. Overall, the drink was alright. It was too sugary for me, make sure to mix everything so that your drink is cohesive and all of the flavors go together well. Located by the front door in a still-developing food court, this boba shop is quaint and has a decent menu. Bo-Bo Grape Smoothie: the smoothie part is mostly large ice chunks. Feels like I'm destroying my teeth drinking this... I really appreciate the grape skins and peeled grapes at the bottom. Not a fan of Crystal boba, but they give a generous portion in the drink (something to note if you're into Crystal boba). So you can expect things to be a bit slower, but that's just because they don't have enough employees. Drink wise, the taro drink was a lot icier than I expected. There were literally still small ice chunks that I had to bite through. The best drink seems to be the king mango smoothie. The green tea jelly is a really nice touch. Not too sweet and the jelly counters with a bit of bitterness. There are also mango and grapefruit chunks which are a huge plus! read more

Located in the food court in between 99 Ranch and CVS, it's immediately to the left when you enter. You order at the counter or kiosk and sit at one of the communal tables. The service is friendly and quality of drinks is similar to the locations in Taiwan, of course there's nothing like the motherland of boba but it's close. The ambiance and vibe of the food court is quite drab and boring but that's beyond the shops responsibility...there were also a few unhoused individuals who hung out there which made it a bit sketch. read more

I'm so excited Macu finally opened here! My coworker recommended it to me after just having it in Taiwan. It is located inside eat up food court next to the ranch 99. A lot of restaurants at the eat up food court are not open yet. Currently it's still soft opening so their hours are still really limited. I got the king of mango smoothie and it is an upgraded version of the regular mango pomelo sago at other places. A lot more grapefruit and added tea jelly. Ordered 2 drinks online at 2:26 PM and didn't get them until 2:53 PM -- 27 minutes of waiting for boba drinks is a bit unusual nowadays. When ordering, the message that pops up after says that the wait is 15 minutes. I think this should be updated to reflect actual wait times. This spot unfortunately is not really it for me mainly due to service. I came here around 3 PM on a weekday, so the location itself was pretty slow with not a lot of people around. This spot is located next to the 99 ranch as part of their cafeteria collection. As soon as you walk in, you can see it on the left side immediately, My partner and I ordered through their self kiosk since there was no option to order from a cashier which is totally fine and we preferred it this way usually since we can take a while picking our drinks. I ordered a matcha tiramisu and my partner got a grape smoothie. It was a red flag when 30 minutes had passed but we did not hear our number being called out. To be fair, for the first 15 minutes, my partner and I actually dispersed to order some food in the other restaurants but when we did come back we asked if our order was called out and they said they said it's not ready yet. Maybe they were busy with pick up orders or something but no one was around the area waiting for drinks so we were a little confused why it may have been taking a while. It didn't really help that we didn't see anyone work in the front and they were mainly in the back. After another 15 minutes, my partner managed to flag them down and turns out our drinks were ready but they either never called out the number or they called it out and we didn't hear it but they didn't take the initiative to call it out again and figure out who's drink it was. The reason we didn't see the drinks was because it was hidden behind a wall that is hard to tell if there was anything there. It was a little annoying. We also never got any phone notifications that it was ready. The drinks itself were okay. The grape smoothie had actual pieces of grape and my matcha tiramisu was very thick and dessert like. We wished we never able to drink them fresh and right away though since we could tell they already melted it a bit. read more

Great to see this popular & legit tea chain in Taiwan launch some stores in the US. The drinks here use real fruit although everything seems to be pretty sweet and some of the drinks have a fixed sweetness level. Probably would recommend 0% or 10% sugar on the tea drinks. This is the first shop in the Ranch 99 Food Court, not much of a wait and plenty of parking. Friendly service. Golden Leaf tea is pretty good. Another tea place opened up, this one is from Taiwan. It's got a lot of mango flavor options. Got the King of Mango Smoothie. It was quite pricey, came out to be $8.50 and overall the pomelo part was a bit sour and didn't quite pair well with the mango. Great quality drinks! I tried the Bo-Bo Strawberry smoothie which was really refreshing. It comes in one size and the consistency of the bo-bo was chewy. The grass jelly also added a nice touch to it. You could definitely tell that they used real strawberries in the smoothie. I also got to try one of their special yakult drinks as my friend had ordered one. Sooooo creamy! Literally one of the best yakult drinks I've had at a boba shop. 5 stars purely for the golden leaf milk tea being goated LOL this place is located inside the 99 ranch food court and it's super unassuming but super good in my opinion! literally got off the plane from a trip and first order of business was to get macu tea!! -- golden leaf milk tea 30% sugar this drink is so creamy and has the perfect balance of tea and milk without feeling heavy at all! it's literally one of my fave milk teas of all time now not even kidding! 30% is still sweet enough for me but they have a 10% option toO! -- tiegyuanyin oolong milk tea 30% sugar this one is also really good, i had no complaints! i feel like the tea flavor is sliiightly milder than tp tea but honestly sometimes i want something lighter so this was really solid to me -- mango green tea 30% sugar they have real mango bits in this drink! it was super good! i was expecting the preserved/canned mangoes, but they use fresh ones which i respect +1000 aura -- fyi i've been seeing reviews complaining about the wait time but every time i've gone, it was super efficient and i got my drink within 5-7 min even with a few groups ahead of me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ tl;dr this place is def underrated, i love their milk teas i'm literally drinking one rn as i type this LOL i lowkey want to gatekeep from tiktokers but at the same time they deserve the recognition so yeah ily macu tea shoutout meo keu meow for the rec LMAO read more
