Went to karaoke Wednesday night at the Mad Hatter the DJ was excellent but, the atmosphere is terrible the lighting is to bright and the tables are for about 10 it is terrible........ needs a more restuarant atmosphere ... smaller tables would get them more eat in customers i don't enjoy eating and drinking at a table when there is other people that are not.People there were complaining about the lighting someone did dim but still not good to relax and have a good time ... it looks like a function room with no character read more

The old location was 5 stars. This new location is disappointing. Food was cold except for the eggs. My friend's mad hatter delight puff pastry was undercooked and totally grossed us out. This place is very popular (for good reason) so expect a decent wait if you go during peak weekend/holiday times. Great Irish breakfast options as well as more traditional breakfast items you'd find at a typical American diner. Waitstaff has always been delightful and the portions are huge. We came here on Sunday for brunch. We walked in and you can write your name in the book. We then sat outside and we waited quite a while for a table, I am honestly not sure how long. It is a very small establishment, definitely showing some wear and tear. The service was super friendly and the food was excellent. I tried the Crunchy French Toast which basically had frosted flakes baked in. I got it because I had never seen anything like it and wanted to try something different, but next time I will stick with pancakes. Although it was very good, I couldn't get over the crunchiness, just my preference. My boyfriend had the Irish breakfast A+. There was a Specials menu that hadn't been on our table, but when we got moved we saw it. I wish I had seen it because they had some sort of doughnut concoction with stewed berries that I would have also liked to try. Parking was super tough, very small lot and hard to maneuver. There is a large shopping plaza across the street and we parked there. On a Sunday morning when it's not busy at all we didn't have any problems with towing or anything, but not sure that would work out any other day. We will come back! read more

Awesome food, but service is awful and I will never eat here again. This is the ~10th time I've visited in the last year and it will be my last ever. I had a surprising interaction with the chef (or owner?) who can't seem to control himself and doesn't seem to have empathy for old people, or people in general, maybe. Arrived before a snow storm today (starting around noon) at around 9:30am today. I brought my Grandpa, who is 93 years old, and my girlfriend. I walked in while they sat in the car. Inside I was told it'd be a 10-15 wait. I said that's fine and we waited in the car for 10 minutes then walked in. When we got in we were expecting to wait another 5-10 minutes. We sat in their outdoor seating area (near the take-out window). I gave my Grandpa my coat to keep his legs warm. The waiting area has a heater but it's a piece of junk. It's about 35-40 degrees in the waiting area. Everyone waits at this place, so why not invest in a real heated area to wait? After about 15 minutes, 4 other groups were sat, so I went back in just to make sure we were on the list. I was assured by the hostess that we were next. We waited another 10 minutes. I went to the take out window, another waitress asked if I needed anything, and I politely asked if we might be able to get a cup of coffee while we waited. She said, sure, no problem. The coffee never came. We waited another 10 minutes and the hostess told us it'd be just 2-3 more minutes while they cleared the table. I watched as they cleared two large tables. Then she never came to get us. At this point, after 34-50 minutes my Grandpa said he was getting cold and asked when we'd be sat. To me it looked like the hostess just got busy and forgot about us. So, my Grandpa got up and asked me to walk him in to be seated. Again, he's 93, so I had to walk him in and hold his arms (his legs fell asleep sitting outside for longer than expected), help him rotate the chair, get him seated, etc. After I got him completely seated none of the waitresses were making eye contact so I decided to walk up to the main counter. I told one of the waiters, "Hey, so we're seated over there, under the party of Alex on your list and the table was clear, my Grandpa is 93 and we've been outside for a while, so I just want to let you know we stole that table over there." I wasn't upset at all, I was just stating the facts. Rather than understand where we were coming from, the waitress said, "You stole a table?" in a dead-serious tone, as if she were truly upset, not joking around. I repeated myself politely, saying something like, "Well, not "steal", I'm just saying, we took this table over here, we were next up, and I want to let you know so you can update your list." and then the owner/chef interjected. He starts rolling in to me, telling me that he was considering closing, that the snow is coming down, that he wasn't even sure if he was going to sit me, etc. I couldn't get a single word in with him. I kept my cool but he didn't. I wasn't being argumentative. He keeps going on, repeating the same thing 2-3 times, about how he may be closing/etc. What I don't understand is why the hell he didn't tell us that instead of leading us on over and over in the waiting area. At one point I had to interrupt him and say, "Dude, look, he's 93 years old, he's an elderly gentlemen. Are you closing or what?" People around the restaurant started looking around. My girlfriend was super pissed off and under any other circumstances I would have walked out and never visited again. It's a shame the owner is such a dick and we had such a bad interaction, because he's a damn great chef. Anyone who disrespects an old man doesn't deserve my business. read more

Updated review, as my friends wanted to try here as it was a birthday outing...sorry to say, I have not changed my mind. We ordered and after 20 minutes I was told that the Veggie Quiche was out (only an hour after opening, mind you), and would I like the Meat Quiche. What if I didn't eat meat? When our meal is served, my friends got their food and mine was not ready. Who serves food to some of the table and not all? Two of us had the meat quiche and it was flavorless, plus the crust was overdone, dry and hard to cut. It appeared to be reheated in the microwave. Ok, naysayers will blame the virus and say restaurants are struggling, but aren't we all? I want to support local but not for such lifeless food. There are many places to eat in Weymouth that are great and have adapted well to the situation and that is where I will be going in the future. read more

Recently went here for breakfast. I was initially impressed with their coffee service as we waited 30 minutes for our table to be ready and were able to sip coffee while we waited. Lots of families and kids, so that was good because I have a one-year-old. Ordered basic breakfast stuff. Their homefries lacked seasoning and were soggy, so they sucked. Their Irish sausage was very good. Their eggs were well cooked, but needed more seasoning. Their pancakes were a big disappointment; pancakes here do not have much volume, texture, or flavor. Overall, we were satisfied with the experience and service, but quality of the food was lacking. I have not been back and have no desire to be back. My in-laws visited the restaurant about two weeks after we did and they had the same experience and opinion of the place. They also have not been back. read more

I'm going to start with the positives- ample parking remodel of the interior the 1st bar area looked nice We arrived for breakfast at 12:45 on a Sunday- when we walked in there was a line maybe 2-3 parties in front of us... oddly the host stand is in the second room (behind a wall) which seems bizarre but I guess if it works for them. We were told - they are only serving a buffet - I assumed we missed it saying that online but figured because it being Sunday that maybe that a brunch buffet was how they did things. The hostess insisted "you'll love it- it's delicious as we were seated at a table which she placed a red ticket (raffle ticket) and told to go get food when we were ready. The food options..... scrambled eggs, home fries (raw), sausage and bacon, French toast and pancakes, chicken broccoli ziti (vile) an omelette station (the women cooking was using pans that were filthy!) prime rib station- except that it wasn't sliced in front of you- it actually was sliced meat in a pot of gravy that looked liked it had been sitting since last June - gross! Followed by an array of bagels and a tray of chocolates. Between my husband and myself we got a few options to try. As I waited for my bagel to toast - the owners children were running all over the place (I know that they were his because he was sitting and eating with them between cooking and bringing food out from the back) as one of them knocks the tray of chocolates - proceeds to pick them up and puts them back on the tray- yuck. I get back to the table my husband says the potatoes are raw. The chicken dish had a taste of white chocolate. The omelette was overcooked. The food was just straight up bad. They seemed to have plenty of servers and help yet I saw the kids running forks back and forth from the front room to the buffet station. We were there a total of 20 minutes. We didn't want to stay any longer... when we asked for the check she asked for the "red ticket" she then brought the check with a total of $43.98. No breakdown. We each got coffee and juice- not sure that was included or not. But if it was that means that buffet was $21.99 pp. the biggest waste of money I've ever spent. What this place needs to do is downsize to what they know and can handle. They have definitely bitten off more than they can chew- quality was non existent. Get a new game plan. Unbelievable, we were excited to go to the new bigger location unfortunately it's poorly managed and staffed. We waited 20 min to be seated which was great, we ordered immediately. Unfortunately, 20 mins in we asked if our order was put in, confirmed it was then 20 mins later (total of 40) they tell us the kitchen is short staffed. 40 mins and still no eggs and ham. We tell them to cancel order and the manager have the nerve to hand us a bill for the 2 coffee!! Don't bother going there unless you have nothing else better to do but sit and wait!! Not once we were told it would be a long wait. We would have gone elsewhere. 40+ min and no breakfast. Not even fancy breakfast is unbelievable. I finally got the chance to try the new location. My sister and I arrived Friday at 12:45. We walked in, there was one couple there waiting to be seated, we were ignored. 5 minutes later they were ready and took us over to the bar side, if we had wanted to eat there we could have gone in that door. It was noisy and cold! I ordered the eggs Benedict and my sister ordered a breakfast panini. Mine came out cold, with very little taste. My sister's panini was full of fat instead of corn beef. I tried out the new location for the first time recently. I was there with my young nephew so it was pretty casual. It was breakfast midweek so we were surrounded by mostly older patrons in the booths and what looked to be regulars at the bar. Staff was nice although they did bring me a different dish than I ordered. I ordered the veggie Benedict and I got the veggie omelet. Since I was with my nephew and I do like omelets I just went with it (although I would have loved to tried the veggie Benedict). He ordered the kids pancakes and they certainly weren't kid sized! He got two large chocolate chip pancakes. I just had to try them. They were delicious. He also got a side of meat. He got ham and loved it. They also offer a buffet which I would like to explore at some point. The actual restaurant is huge and looks very nice. The bathrooms were clean. They had a family restroom in addition to the regular restrooms. There's plenty of parking. It is definitely a physical step up from the old mad hatter but I didn't quite enjoy the food as much as the previous location. That being said, I would go again. read more

Arrived a little before Noon on Sunday and was told there was going to be a 60-90 minute wait for a table. They must have been short-staffed because there were tables that stayed empty the entire time we were there. Decided to stay and had a drink at the bar. We were sat around an hour and promptly ordered our food. We were told multiple times are food was coming. We waited an hour before we decided we had had enough. The owner came out and apologized and told us the front of house was supposed to let us know that the wait for food was going to be an hour as well. No one told us. Appreciate the apology but it was too late. Might try them again in a couple months, once they get used to the new larger location, but at this point was not worth wasting half my day. read more

Took us 2 hours on train and bus, but it was so worth it, we ate like pigs because everything was delicious, we had the hungry man and the Irish breakfast, rye bread on hungry man and grilled English muffins on the irish breakfast, blueberry iced coffee is a must, and my brother changed the eggs on the irish breakfast for a mad hatter omelette, so worth the extra money, we'll definitely be coming back. read more

We waited for about 20 minutes to be seated, and I could see why when we were trying to get our check for our meal. It took 10 minutes to flag down our waitress to get our check, and another 10 minutes for her to pick it up from our table to run it. The breakfast was half great, half horrible. My mom order the corned beef hash, and I had the eggs benedict. We shared a pot of tea. The tea was really good, but if you aren't going to steep the pot completely before serving, at least tell your customers that the tea bags (without strings) are still in the pot so they can fish them out before it becomes bitter. The eggs benedict was great. It came with "Canadian bacon", which was really a huge, thick slice of ham. It was really good. The corned beef had the consistency of blended baby food. Definitely not appetizing for meat. She couldn't eat it, so we just shared my plate. The restaurant could definitely use a good scrubbing, especially the walls, windows, and the ceiling. I always find it a bit disconcerting when the ceiling is browning like that. The buildup from the kitchen is bound to fall onto the food and people in dust form. read more

I ordered 2 eggs over medium with toast and home fries, and my boyfriend had steak tips with eggs over medium. We waited over 45 minutes for the food to come out, and when we finally got it the eggs were way undercooked, the whites were still runny, and the home fries had to taste whatsoever. It starts with service...Growing up too fast can be a problem! I've gone to the original on Main Street since it opened. Always a wait, standing in the cold in the heat outside, barely enough seats for a bakers dozen. Today, day 2 of the new facility. Looks beautiful, the tiny breakfast place transitioned into a beautiful full grown restaurant and bar, modern, clean, full bar, full restaurant, private function room. One thing was evidently and painfully absent missing- "a wonderful welcoming staff" Even though a comfortable place to wait was available but it was not enough. My son asked for a soda and a coffee while we waited (45 minutes because of an understaffed, overgrown facility, it is after all a full service restaurant. He was not accommodated, he was talked to like a hindrance, a problem, not like a welcomed guest. When I observed this, I asked for my name to be taken off the waiting list. The attitude got worse, then I stated what horrible service and that I would write a review. Instead of empathy and loss mitigation the nasty response was. Go ahead write one- Hope they work out their kinks- food in a new place can always be excused, fixed or replaced. Bad service, however, will always leave a nasty taste in your mouth. Old location was great - Sorry to say can't say the same for the new location. Went for breakfast on Sunday 2/24 when they offer just buffet. Four people in our party and the bill came to $94.12 + tip - we are talking a Diner in Weymouth. Different story if it was worth the money - BIG NO. Buffet had all the basic breakfast items that are sitting out in buffet dishes and sterno warmers. No way close to their quality of food at their old location. Agree with Jennifer C review - thievery. Sorry to say will need to find a new breakfast place - possibly their old location now called skillet. read more
