This is the second time I have had a great experience at Maestro Pasta. I am a proud Italian-American and know the difference between the cuisine of Penne-Vodka and Chicken Parm and the true cuisine of Italy. (By the way I do like a good Penne Vodka or Chicken Parm, it has its place on Long Island....sorry not sorry) This place and specifically its pasta brings you to Italy. We watched the pasta machine work as we ordered a bolognese, cacio e Pepe, and a Amatriciana. So freshly prepared with a great , friendly, knowledgeable staff from Italy. We loved the starter of thinly sliced prosciutto with burrata and arugula. Their fried bread was a really nice too and great for the scarpetta! All went down with a young drinkable Chianti. Met friends for drinks at Maestro's, an Italian restaurant on MacDougal Street in Greenwich Village, located along one of the neighborhood's busier stretches. The restaurant has a fun and distinctive design, with some tables featuring swing-style seats suspended from the ceiling. The interior is warm and rustic, with plenty of wood furnishings and décor, an open kitchen, and a few televisions throughout the space. My friends ordered the pasta and meatballs, along with the polenta fries served with cheese on the side. I tried a few bites of the fries which were enjoyable, with the polenta fries being a nice alternative to traditional fries. Most of the cocktails on the menu were priced between $18 and $20, including the spritzes, which, in my opinion, should cost a bit less than liquor-based cocktails. I ordered the Hugo Spritz ($19), made with St-Germain, Prosecco, and soda. It was well balanced, refreshing, and not overly sweet. Our waiter was very friendly and Italian, which added to the restaurant's authentic feel. Stumbled upon Maestro while working home from the West 4th area & its actually on my saved list. Love the seating with the swings. Inexpensive lunch menu for $10. If you pay cash, its cheaper. Quick service, scan QR code for menu & service was very fast. Got the bolognese & it's an open kitchen concept & you can see the chef preparing the meals. Food came fairly quick. It comes in a little pan. The portion is enough for me, but you can also order a bigger portion as well. It comes with a side of bread. Bolognese was savory & I would definitely get again. Stopped in for lunch (they have a great weekday special with $10 homemade pastas and salads) and returned the following day for an amazing early dinner. Burrata is our go-to favorite. Who can resist a ball of cheese drizzled with evoo & balsamic? From the melt in your mouth beef stuffed pasta to the lasagna layered with bolognese and bechamel to the tiramisu to the shots of Lemoncello. The meal was exquisite. Maestros is one of our favorite quiet, dark, romantic places that also has a little bit of whimsy in that one side of the tables are benches, and the other side are benched swings. It's done so they're very classy and relaxed fashion that does not distract from some of the simplest and understated Italian dishes I found in the village.. no tourist here typically which is nice! Like I said, the food is simple, delicate, and pops on the pallet. Nothing is overembellished for the sake of creativity, which is it such a refreshing twist since everyone's trying to land on the Gram. It's Gram worthy. It's just not a stupid spectacle. Services always been top-notch for both the kitchen in the staff who seems to be 150% invested in what they're doing at every level. It's not so big that the front of house is somehow detached from the restaurant being managed by a hired gun who simply doing the job.. for the house seems to care about what's going on as much as the back of the house does which again is super refreshing! From the get go this restaurant offers elegance without pretentious, fun without dull, and inviting without exclusivity. The swinging bench seats are just in and of itself such a fun, unique and wonderful concept in such an awesome location. And the food... oh my goodness with the food. You know the pasta and it's chef speak for themselves when even a picky 5 year old whose primary diet consists of nuggets and chicken, went crazy for the truffle pasta! Adults have trouble with truffle let alone children but this specific child of ours truly enjoyed the meal and was hungry for more! The pasta is cleverly served in a frying pan which makes the whole vibe of the place an even bigger plus! Mix all these awesome feats with a friendly, welcoming staff and you have a recipe almost as great as the food at Maestro Pasta! One of the things that bring me joy in this world is when I randomly find a place that serves delicious pasta. Was in the west village area and accidently stumbled upon this establishment. Enjoyed the cute decor & atmosphere. Since this was our firsts time here, we tried to order as many items as possible to try out. Firstly, I was nicely impressed with their cheese bread that was served pre-meal. It went perfectly with some olive oil & balsamic. Like most others writing about the truffle pasta, we ordered the dish along with the Chacuterie board, Carciofi friti, and two other pastas (Bolognese & Aglio olio). I give credit for the fresh pasta and the way it was cooked. Truffle pasta is flavorful, thick & rich. Garlic & oil pasta had a kick to it which was good. The bolognese was ok, nothing bad but also fairly average. Drink menu lists negroni and other cocktails along with a small beer selection. Sporting a fresh b from the health department, they have no paper menus which means we play the phone scan game - which I hate . Anyway I landed on the small bolognese which came out within less than two minutes which tells me nothing is made fresh. The sauce was fine, a bit watery but better than I hoped. Go early. They recommended the different things they thought we might like. The restaurant had a nice feel to it. There was quiet music playing in the background with candles in little nooks. Last night in NYC with my daughter. We were greeted by a lovely man in Italian, and a nice young lady who showed us to our seat at the bar, except it's not really "the bar". It was just a bar-like seating because you sit side by side. They also have swing seats which we thought was very playful, fairy lights all around. They make the pasta onsite and I dare say fresh out of their pasta maker. My daughter ordered a Cremosa and I ordered the Caprese Pizza. The cremosa was served on a 6-in pan which adds to the novelty. My caprese pizza was served on wood which adds to the charm. Heavenly!!! Now, you have to order a Tiramisu with your Italian dinner. So we shared the tiramisu served in a glass. Again really good, creamy, not sugary. In the end, we told the nice Italian man that my daughter is a student nearby and she got a card that says have 9 $10 pasta lunch and the 10th free. For a student, that is probably the best gift . This place was little on the medium pricey side but we are in NYC and im not from here so don't take my price count into consideration. The place was cute with a nice little bathroom. The expresso martini wasn't my favorite. They have these cute swing chairs that made the place seem different from all other pasta spots. This review is mostly for the Tartufo truffle pasta... it was so rich, creamy, and flavorful. If you're worried the truffle won't be strong enough to come through, fret not. My friend's pasta was just okay. It was tart and fresh but really paled in comparison to the tartufo. I'd love to try the truffle ravioli next time as our waiter recommended that. This place is the real deal! Alessandro, the owner - from Italy, is incredibly passionate about incredible food, service, and giving every customer the best experience. We started with the prosciutto and Bufala. My friend got the Cacio e Pepe & I got the lasagna. Everything was soo fresh!! I got a photo of our appetizer, but unfortunately we inhaled the entrees before I could get a photo! The interior is done so well and has such a cool vibe to it with an open kitchen concept. The servers are all hustling and working incredibly hard to make every customer's experience amazing. Maestro Pasta is easily a contender for the cutest place I have randomly stumbled across while in the city to get dinnerr. I finally felt like a pro I can't put into words how good this flatbread was, which makes sense because it was chefs choice.. The Prosciutto was so fresh and paired with the arugula and parmasean cheese.... Absolutely delicious. Both pasta options were also so delicious. & how cute is the presentation. Something about eating out of the pan just makes it better, I can't explain it. The best part of this restaurant was that with the salt and pepper they had mini olive in bottles... literally so fresh and absolutely addicting. I am confident I could've drank it LMAO. The staff here was so nice and took such great care of us. They were so sweet... Hands down one of the most fantastic dining experiences we've had. We loved the ambiance, the dim lighting made for a romantic dinner in such a great part of NYC. We indulged in the Tartufo pasta, hats off to the chef! Wish we could relive this experience again as the wait staff made for a classy experience. Honestly a tad under-rated. Came for lunch with a friend and had a great time. The decor and furniture are fun/cute. They have normal chairs but also swings you can sit on right at your table too. Small space though, probably like 14 tables total. --burrata salad- fresh. good amount of burrata and balsamic with beets. dont know if I loved it though. --pesto linguine- basic but so good. we got 1 dish and shared it between 2 people..great idea, we were full but I could have ate more! --espresso martini- delicious. not a regular one, they added some other flavors to it which I really liked. its on the sweeter side though (which i prefer) but keep that in mind. We didn't see any seats outside but they were able to accommodate and move the table and chair outside for us since we had the dogs. The service and the staff was great. The ambiance inside is cute with the swings. The red sauce for the spaghetti and meatballs I loved. The truffle was really good. The bread that came with our entree was really good. Been here twice now, and I have nothing to brag about except to express my disappointment. The ambiance and decor are pretty cool. I like the rustic look of it. The service is okay, nothing extraordinary. The food is very mediocre. Both pasta dishes lacked flavor and were bland. The meatballs on the spaghetti were so tiny! It felt like it was a freaking joke. We have to ask for grated Parmesan cheese to add some taste/flavor to it, so we can eat it. Some cocktails are okay and some are not. Again they are overpriced for the quality of food/drinks and are not worth it. The name of the restaurant should be Lame Pasta. read more

The three pasta dishes were okay and not very memorable, I feel like they were lacking a little flavor and some traditional seasoning, but otherwise came as large portions. Maestro is an Italian pasta restaurant in Greenwich Village. The interior of the restaurant is very nice, and would be perfect for a dinner data. As the night went on, they had live music playing too! The first time my sister and I tried Maestro, we started with their Torta Fritta which is their signature fried bread. I really enjoyed their bread, it reminded me of a beignet (just without sugar) and it tasted great when dipped in our pasta's sauces. As for the pasta, we ordered the Tartufo fettuccine and Boscaiola pappardelle. Both tasted excellent and the serving sizes were very good compared to other pasta places in Manhattan. My sister wanted to have a glass of wine with our pastas, but couldn't make a decision. One of the waiters was kind enough to give us a little wine tasting of 3 different wine choices before making a final decision. We decided to finish our meal with their Panna Cotta with strawberry jam, and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. Delicious pasta. A little pricey considering that it's a somewhat casual dining experience (the place is well decorated, dimly lit, and romantic though) and it's served in a small pan. But it's much more tasty and nuanced than pasta from more popular places like Da Andrea. Not only the sauces, but the dough itself has intrinsic flavor, which makes me think they use more semolina? Came here with a group of friends on a week night and had an amazing time. The restaurant is cute and cozy, and we were lucky enough to score a table with swings. We ordered for starters a cheese board with torta fritta, which I have to say, was absolutely amazing. We ended up eating so much bread and cheese that we were almost too full for our meal. For dinner, we ordered pesto cavatelli, Parma crudo focaccia and a ravioli plate. All came out piping hot, fresh and super tasty. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse and tiramisu. Came here for dinner with a few friends and had a great time. We were seated at some of the swing chairs which were super cute. they are really secure and you could sit without swinging at all but I think most people move a little bit back-and-forth as they are sitting. We had a reservation because it was a Friday night and we're seated immediately, I did notice some parties that didn't have reservations that got seats, but there were also groups that were turned away so I would say a reservation is probably a good idea. Overall, the fresh pasta was delicious as was the sauce. It seemed that some of the portions might have been a little bit smaller than others. I also thought it was a little odd that you couldn't get any protein added to any of the pastas like they don't have chicken to add. Definitely not mandatory but if you want protein, your only choice is getting a meat sauce like I did. Overall had a great time and would probably return! read more
