This was my first time here and while the place is nice, my experience was below average. When we arrived we were quickly seated. We were a party of 3 on a Friday night. I am giving two stars because parts of the experience had potential and others failed horribly. We order 2 soft drinks and one margarita. The margarita took what seems forever to be served. The waiter apologized and said that my drink was given to another table. The drink finally came after we got the appetizers and after one sip I tasted the bitterness from the bad lime on the rim. The waiter took our order for appetizers and dinner quickly. Appetizers: fried Mac and cheese and fried fresh mozzarella cheese. The fried Mac and cheese came in a vodka sauce and it tasted good. The fried mozzarella cheese were three triangles and they look like they were fried for a little too long. Entrees: 2 New England Clam Chowders, Penne with meatballs, shrimp and scallop in vodka sauce and Garlic Shrimp and vegetables risotto. Only one clam chowder was brought to the table and although the color was more like the color of French onion soup I tasted and it had a weird taste. We quickly cancelled the second soup and I did not eat any more. The Penne and Meatballs was probably the best of the three entrees. The shrimp and scallops were good and I was surprised that the scallops were cooked correctly. However, there was a massive amount of penne pasta and very little scallops or shrimp. My meal was the worst of the three The shrimp were cooked correctly and tasted good but the risotto is a big mistake in their part. It was a crime to all the good risotto in the world. Honestly it is my opinion that they should take it out from the menu. It had big chunks of red and green peppers that were uncooked. It also had corn and asparagus. The risotto also had this sour taste and I am assuming it was uncooked wine. It also had cheese and it was very cheesy. The service. The waiter took our order pretty quickly but since the margarita was taking forever I order a soft drink. The soft drink came towards the end of the meal. I don't think it was the waiter fault but he was busy. For the time we were there so many people arrive in his area back to back. I am including pictures of the entrees and soup but forgot to take pictures of the appetizers. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back and I hope I don't get food poisoning from tasting the weird looking and tasting soup. Not worth what I pay. read more

We ordered the BBQ brisket to share. It came out cold. It had so much sauce on it, we couldn't eat it...yuck. So much for a hot sit-down meal. Oh yes, speaking of sitting down. We were seated, and the server acknowledged us 12 minutes after seating. Then we waited on our menus, which she eventually handed to us. After another 12 minutes, she took our order. We had to get up and chase her down for everything. I wanted a nice relaxing meal after working all day. This was my first time going to Maggie Mcflys and I've heard a lot of positive things. The menu is vast with inexpensive options like sandwiches, burgers and pub food. To more expensive meals like steak and seafood. If you love variety, this this the place for you. However, if you have trouble deciding what to eat... ruuuuuuun!!! First off, the food is really good. I got the Pilgrim and while the turkey was a bit dry the side of gravy added made it damn decent. The fries are run of the mill. The side salad with avocado dressing however, makes it all worth it. The service was awful. We only ordered water and she never brought it. When the server bringing the food came we had to ask HER for water. Never got extra napkins either, and when you're picking up a sandwich grilled in butter, it can get messy. So go, but with less than high hopes of great service. read more

There were six of us. I enjoyed the lettuce wraps but did not like the brussel sprouts. They were under cooked, but had a nice flavor. I brought them home and finished cooking them. The Mac and cheese burger had an odd taste. We are pretty sure is was the Mac and cheese on the burger that tasted sour. One of my friends ordered a Rueben. It was the first Rueben I ever saw without sauerkraut. To me it was a corned beef sandwich. Another friend ordered the impossible burger and the edamame appetizer. She said the burger was good but the roll was stale. She couldn't comment on the edamame because they never brought it to the table. Two turkey dinners were ordered and they were good, although it was mentioned that there was little cranberry sauce. The place was very clean, the waitress was very attentive and friendly, unfortunately on this particular evening the food was not hitting the mark. I stopped in for lunch at the new Maggie McFly's (CT based) in Crossgates Mall, across the hall from 110 Grill, another New England regional chain restaurant. The place wasn't too busy around 1:15 pm and I was promptly seated at a high top table near the bar with several TVs and plenty of beers on tap in the center of the dining room floor area. The bar offers happy hour weekdays 3-6pm and $4-$5-$6 bar bites too. Maggie McFly's has other locations mainly in Western CT, which seem larger than the new modern Albany location. I've dined at the Maggie McFly's in Middlebury, CT (right off I-84) which has 2 levels of dining and a model airplane hanging from the ceiling. Similar to that location, the booths here are high and you need to climb up to your seat with a long metal bar footrest. The menu here is very extensive and reads like a storybook with plenty of choices to satisfy any taste including sandwiches, burgers, pasta dishes, chicken, seafood, steaks, ribs, pizzas, giant salads, soups, appetizers, and plenty of desserts. Lunch specials are served until 4PM. The prices here are moderate, The portions here are decent. They source local and regional ingredients for their food. They use Lilly's Fresh Pasta from MA, which is a favorite of mine. There's also a full drink/cocktail menu at each table and free wi-fi is offered (did not work when trying to connect). From the Executive Lunch Menu, I ordered the Keegan Ales Crispy Fish Sandwich ($8.99) and cup of beef chili (add $3). The food arrived fairly quick, which is a lot faster than my experience at the Middlebury location. The cod Sandwich was thick with crispy battered fried cod, tartar sauce, lettuce tomato slices on a toasted hamburger bun. The chili with beef topped with melted cheese and scallions was hearty. However, I recalled that the chili was supposed to come with tortilla chips and had to ask my waitress for tortilla chips. However, I ate most of the chili when I got chips. I passed on dessert and got the check, which came out to $12.95 with tax and before tip. Overall, similar to my other visit to Maggie McFly's in Middlebury, I had a good meal slightly on the pricier side for lunch, but the service here was very prompt this time. read more

It's a casual chain, really well done, and after a recent lunch, my husband and I both felt there was nothing that could be improved, so 5/5 it is. The food is the most important part of a meal, and the food was good! We started with some garlic breadsticks, which were free and tasted good (a nice surprise). There is an extensive drink menu that I am really excited to dive into at a later date, but as I am "in a delicate condition" (hah), I had to press pause on that, and my husband did as well in solidarity. While there were lots of non-alcoholic options, we stuck with water. We both ordered lunch specials as our meal. If you want just a sandwich, it's $8.99 (and you will leave feeling satisfied!). But, we ordered sides with ours. I had the French onion soup. It came with an onion ring on top, which was a cute touch. I let my husband have that part of the soup, and he said it was good. My husband got their chili, which looked (and he said tasted) delicious. I did think it was funny it came with like four chips, but it didn't really need the chips either, so it wouldn't bother me. I had the Pilgrim sandwich and added cheddar (I think the upcharge on adding cheese was 50 cents, so not bad at all). It would have been yummy without it, but I love cheese. The turkey was really good. It tasted very fresh and was cooked perfectly. I also loved the apple stuffing and cranberry sauce. So flavorful. The bread did get a little soggy, but not in a way that detracted from the taste. I kept going back and forth about whether or not I preferred the sandwich dipped in the turkey gravy, or not. Both ways were tasty. I really liked this taste on the Pilgrim sandwich and would happily order this again. My husband's fish sandwich looked delicious, although I am not a fish person. He also added cheddar. He said it was perfectly breaded and fried. The fish piece was a nice size and looked so good, I almost wanted to pop a bit that fell off into my mouth (but again, not a fish person). Both of us were really happy with our meals and our experience. The pricing for the food is reasonable, especially considering the quality. The service was good: our host was super friendly, our waiter was professional, and the place just looks really nice. There is a variety of seating options and it's just a very well-designed space. The food tastes really fresh and the menu lists quite a few items that are sourced locally (including their desserts, which come from a bakery in Delmar, and looked really good, but we were too full). The menu is comprehensive; there's gotta be something for everyone, including kids. We noticed there is an extensive kids' menu with a ton of options, so we look forward to bringing our son with us next time. I was skeptical about this place for whatever reason when it was announced, but this is a welcome addition to the mall. For what it is (casual chain with a fresh food/modern aesthetic vibe, which I mean as a positive), it is a five star experience. We'll definitely be back. read more

First time I've been here and a huge fan! The menu takes a good hour to read there are so many choices, but we settled on the Waygu burger topped with carmelized onions in a wine reduction, garlic aioli and toasted bun. I'm not a huge burger fan but I was intrigued by the onions. I was not disappointed! Best burger I've ever had!!! I'd give 5 stars but the berry Cosmo was like koolaide. We visited this Crossgates location on Wednesday this week. Not a great experience. Our drink orders were taken, 2 glasses of wine and 2 sodas. The sodas came out followed by one glass of wine. While waiting for the second wine it turns out the first glass was bad. When we sent the wine back we asked about the other glass but it was nowhere to be found. We canceled both glasses. Our food was fine except that the Shepard pie had a big piece of paper (yes paper in it). The paper was removed but that person's appetite was ruined. Our booth was near the reception area where it appears the bus boys are told to hang out, climb on and off the counter there, make sure their very dirty bus pans are visible. When the bill came the canceled wine was still on it. We asked that the wines be removed and that the bill be split evenly between two credit cards. That is not allowed at Maggie's. We've had nice experiences before but this might be out last. read more

Don't go here for a quick lunch or dinner before a movie. The food is great here, nice menu options full bar and interesting drinks and seasonal specials. This is more of a hang or maybe a first date but not for a quick meal. You will need at most an hour once seated regardless how busy they are. We went in with friends while teens went into mall to shop. 2 hours later teens came back and we were still waiting for the check. By then mall closed, and couldn't see movie we intended on seeing after asking if we would be able to make it. Again nice place but don't be in a hurry. read more

Consistently Great food and service. The selections of food and drinks are sublime. Lots of locally and localish sourced ingredients, and even labeled where they come from. All of the Vegetarian, Vegan, and Gluten Free options are clearly marked, and they have dedicated prep and cook space for Gluten Free, and are always careful about allergens. Many cleaver cocktails too, and if any food or drink sounds unusual, it's probably pretty good. And I was exceptionally pleased that they had at least 2 West Coast ipas on tap, it didn't just cater of the trendiness of New England IPAs thank you. We started with Aji tuna nachos which were very delicious. It was fresh and had a touch of cilantro and soy sauce and deliciousness from the tuna on heavenly light Weyford fried cracker thingies. We would order that again we got the egg roll variety appetizer roll sandwich it was the sampler of corn beef, cheeseburger, Tex-Mex, Philly eggroll sampler with a variety of dipping sauces and they were really tasty, did not taste like frozen crap. Highly recommend the sampler platter of eggrolls really tasty stuff, hopefully these guys don't change what they're doing for some cheap crappy offerings I hate inconsistency. We also got one Wagyu burger with fries to share we cut it in half, we figured after all the appetizers that would be enough, and my girl loves cutting burgers in half so she got to do that too which was awesome because she is awesome. That was really tasty and beefy I always look for a good tasting burger because I want to be able to have some flavor from the meat itself forget about the accoutrements yes they're nice but if the meat doesn't taste nice and beefy and flavorful I get the same kind of enjoyment from eating a bag of potato chips a bunch of flavor from seasoning shaker no thanks I want the real deal. He was right they were amazing...until I found one hair...I am a waitress so didn't make a big deal about it however under the lettuce the plate was covered in hair. Sadly we had already eaten most of it and was completely disgusted. I brought it to our waiters attention and he took it off our bill. Never did a manager come over to apologize or anything. Stopped here for a bite to eat while passing through Albany. The dining area is very spacious with a cool vibe to it. The menu is absolutely huge which made it hard to decide what to order. I decided on the blue blt burger with a bowl of french onion soup. The burger was nice and juicy, seasoned nicely. The French onion soup was served with a cooked onion ring on top which was a nice addition I haven't seen before. The server took a while to notice us. We had driven all day and all we wanted was a good meal and a cold beverage. It was a Sunday evening so not crazy busy at the restaurant. The hostess seated us immediately. We had never eaten at a Maggie McFly's so it was fun to read the impressive menu. And unfortunately, that is all we ever did...read the menu for 52 minutes with not one person coming over to wait on us. I went back to the hostess after 30 minutes and explained that nobody had even been to our table. She asked me where we were sitting. I showed her. She went out back and I never saw her again. In my 66 years of living, I have never walked out of a restaurant. I guess there is a first time for everything. The sad part is that nobody even cared. read more

So upon this last visit, we figured hey! Let's go to Maggie McFly's, since were both hungry and we know the food was always good. Well understanding that they're operating at half staff and under restrictions is totally understandable. Just this recent visit was, less then great. More or less I'm keeping this review short and simple. Food was still great! Kitchen staff kept up the great work with delivering savory food that was great! Just the let down was in the wait staff. Our waiter at first was decent; came over and was good about taking our order. While ordering a drink from the bar, offered to brink the drink menu because of the large selection of beers on tap as well as other cocktails. When maki g an initial choice, suggested to pick a second and explained that they sometimes run out of some beers on tap. It happens ‍ So moving past that; the whole dinning experience was normal as always; up until towards the end when we were finished with the meal. This is when it went downhill, and relatively quick Our waiter came over and cleared the plates, and then proceeded to casually bounce between the hostess stand and a table that was just adjacent to ours multiple times, sort of just leaving us hanging. We watched him bounce around the dinning area a few times. And after a rather long pause (about 10 mins) of waiting he came back around to our table to question if we'd like a dessert. By this point it was almost 20 mins since he took our plates. We weren't sure whether he was coming back to give us our check. After stopping and seeming a little puzzled, he finally asked us if we wanted the check ‍ During this entire time, not one time did the GM on the floor come over to do a "table touch" and make sure everything was good. Nor to make sure we had no issues. But again the table I mentioned before that was just to our left, he ensured he stopped to talk with them multiple times during the time we were there. A little disappointed in the poor floor management. Hopefully next time we visit, the experience with the waitstaff and management is a little better and more attentive to the customers. read more

The service was awful!! Wouldn't go here again! There was something wrong with one of the orders when they came out. Our server didn't stop by our table for 25 minutes afterwards. Then it took another 20-25 minutes for the correct order to get to us. When we got our check it was for the full price; I would think they would discount something for making us wait almost an hour for their mistake. The food is good, but the service is poor. read more

I always order the chicken Thai lettuce wraps at least two times a week, because I am absolutely in love with the peanut dressing. Tonight I ordered takeout and went to pick it up like normal and the portions were at least half the size that they normally are. They gave me three pieces of lettuce and they were very small pieces of lettuce and I had to ask for more But did not complain about the portion sizes because it is not the servers fault but I paid the same price for about half the food tonight and I'm not happy and probably will not be ordering this ever again! read more

I love Maggie McFlys but this location was extremely disappointing. Bartenders weren't friendly at all, they don't smile. Didn't give out silverware without us asking, had to ask for a second drink which came in a different glass and tasted completely different even though it was the same exact drink, my boyfriend never even got a second drink because no one ever checked on us once we got each item. Our service was completely dependent on us waving down the bartender. If the restaurant was busy I would understand, but it wasn't. It looked to be a normal sized crowd. The bar was by no means full nor was the restaurant. I'm just glad that I don't live in that area. I'll stick to my Ct Maggie's. read more
