They do not serve alcohol, in case that matters. They do serve complimentary tea though. In ordering entrees, there is a soup included with no additional charge. We ordered two chicken rice soups and a chicken noodle soup. One person wanted the vegetable soup but it wasn't available. My chicken rice soup was predominantly rice with maybe three bits of chicken and little soup. The two others in our party seemed to enjoy their soup. For entrees, one ordered Mu Shu Chicken, another the Sweet & Sour Chicken and I originally ordered Chicken with Asparagus but was later told they didn't have asparagus so I opted for Chicken with Peapods. I have included photos of our entrees below. For two of us, the entrees were barely warm but the Mu Shu Chicken entree was reportedly hot. For some reason, the service was rather slow even though the restaurant wasn't crowded. Our young server tried hard and seemed to be hurrying to each of the few tables. Overall, it seemed that the restaurant had a lot of carryout orders and the customers dining in did not appear to receive priority treatment. The food once served was decent quality- though two entrees weren't hot enough- not that we would send them back. I'm sure leftovers will taste better once fully heated. We've been here twice now. None of the dishes disappointed. We order off the authentic menu. They even have a "special" authentic menu that is seen only when you enter the restaurant. I think they are Cantonese. They don't skimp on portion sizes. Dishes are flavorful. Authentic menu is indeed AUTHENTIC. We asked 1 - low salt, 2 - low oil, 3 - no MSG and these preferences were honored. They even called back saying one of the dishes was a bit heavy in oil so that we could potentially order something else. They called us when the takeout order was ready. The Midwest needs more restaurants like these. If I lived closer I would come way more often. Best of all you get this for a very fair price point. It is not the inflationary/expensive price for low-quantity sub-par asian food you see now-adays. Come here if you are near the area. Both ordered the Lemon Chicken entrees with mixed vegetables. When I called, I asked the difference between the Lemon Chicken and Almond Chicken. A young sounding girl seemed unsure how to answer and asked her mom. She then came back with a partial answer and indicated that the Almond Chicken came with a brown sauce (while the menu indicated a white sauce), but since I prefer a lighter sauce, we both ordered the Lemon Chicken. I had refrained from asking further questions because special orders are generally not translated well nor appreciated. The order was ready promptly as promised. Upon entering, I saw the same sign that the restaurant could not provide table service due to lack of staff but that dining in was welcomed. There were two people dining in the pleasant dining area when I entered around dinner time. I picked up the order and once home found that the lemon sauce was on the side as promised with an overly generous amount of the sauce. The individual entrees were full of deeply battered chicken. Upon digging to the bottom, there were some lovely sauteed vegetables (zucchini, broccoli, carrots, a few mushrooms, maybe celery and baby corn). Unfortunately, there were few vegetables compared to the bulky fried chicken meat on top. Would have been better, in my opinion, to have the vegetables on top of the chicken or even in a separate bowl- and definitely more of them. I'm not a fan of anything fried so took the time to cut off the overly breaded fried topping. Without the fried topping, the entree needed salt, in addition to the nicely seasoned light lemon sauce provided on the side. My mom ate the entree without cutting off the fried coating. She added more salt along with the lemon sauce made it taste much better. However, she didn't feel well after eating the fried meal. I also shared with my dog and did my best to cut off the battered fried portions, but even she didn't seem to feel well afterwards. Ultimately, I recognize that many may enjoy the fried battered chicken, so left my rating at three stars. I will say that cutting off the battered portion left very little chicken- since the battered fried portions made the entree seem huge. I personally wouldn't order it again. I might try ordering something more basic in the future given the convenient location of this restaurant. I think the freshness of vegetables and overall quality of food is decent, but wouldn't order anything fried. Check it out for yourself! I have found this restaurant to be hit or miss, with more misses lately.
