I ordered donuts for my friend's birthday and it was a hit! I called and let them know what I needed spelled out and the flavors. My friend was happily surprised and enjoyed the delicious donut to start off her birthday celebrations. Staff was really helpful on the phone and made the whole process easy.

Fluffy donuts in the evening?!?! How is that possible? Mac's donuts makes it so. Open late with freshly made donuts! They offer small variety of snacks and light foods as well in case you want to be a responsible adult and have your dessert after your meal.

Really bummed I didn't get to try their wildly popular bear claws because they were completely sold out. SAD PANDA. The apple fritter and cinnamon crumb were delightful and nommy! Maple bacon is also a classic and it's very well executed here. Owners are also very nice and friendly. Good stuff.

Okay, so one of our patients brought us donuts and ham & cheese croissants from Mag's Donuts... and OMG those croissants were next-level delicious! Buttery, cheesy, hammy goodness -- basically perfection in pastry form. I could've eaten like five, no shame. Didn't get to try the donuts because they vanished faster than my willpower on a cheat day but judging by how good the croissants were, I'm 99.9% sure the donuts slap too. Mag's Donuts, you've officially ruined all other croissants for me.

This place is so good! I can't speak on their coffee or donuts, but their breakfast burrito was amazing. It is simple with eggs, cheese, bacon, potatoes, and sausage. It is served hot, fresh, and with a hot salsa dip. Each bite was so flavorful and delicious. The burrito takes awhile to make so be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes depending on how busy it is. I went in the morning and the service was slow, but the line moved quick. There is plenty of space to park in this plaza. The inside of the place is small with a few tables and chairs. This is a great grab and go location to satisfy your sweet or savory cravings for an affordable price!

The owner was SO sweet -- genuinely one of the nicest people ever. She had the warmest energy and made us feel so welcome, even though we were clearly in goofy late-night mode. The worker there was just as kind and patient. They were both super generous and didn't rush us at all. You can tell they really care about their customers and take pride in what they do. The food was amazing. The ham and cheese was warm, creamy, and perfectly balanced, exactly what we needed. And the old fashioned donuts were so good; crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and not overly sweet. Everything tasted fresh. The ambiance was so cute and nice, made me feel like home with the lighting and cleanliness. Honestly, the service is what makes this place special. The kindness alone would make me come back, but the donuts being that good just seals it. If you want great donuts and even better people, this is the spot.

I wish I had this near me :,) but then again, it might be serious trouble for me if I did lol…read more I've felt disappointed by a vast majority of donuts in recent years. Too greasy, weird aftertastes, terrible terrible heartburn and upset stomach after... And with these, I didn't experience any of that(a little burpy after, but I mean, it's donuts... LOL) We only tried 3 different donuts, but they were all so bomb. The churro donut was my favorite. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside just like a real churro, but didn't get soggy. The Nutella Malasada was full of Nutella and it was actually my first time trying a malasada... bomb! The cookies and creme mochi was a nice surprise too. The cream was actually very flavorful and not just like a plain creme with Oreos thrown in like I've often seen. I'm sure all of the donuts would be really good here. I will definitely make a trek here again one of these days.

They had hundreds of donuts sitting out, no labels, we had to ask what everything was. Ended up buying four for $13, not bad. Came home and took a bite of each one. None of the donuts tasted fresh, I am sure they were made hours before we bought them. Churro was super hard and stale, salted caramel literally tasted like nothing, blueberry tasted like sweet artificial fruit, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting was the best one. If I lived nearby, I might get that one again, but this is not a place to go out of the way and try.

The shop has been a Balboa Island staple since 1960, when it was opened by Joe "Dad" Anderson. According to local lore, a group known as the "Dew Dads" began a tradition in the 1960s of gathering early for coffee and donuts, and that tradition continues today. Some regulars even have their own hooks on the wall for their coffee mugs. The hippo sugar cookies change with the holidays. I visited around Easter, and they had Easter colors. We got a glazed donut for my son, and he loved it. I got a hippo cookie to share; it was a standard sugar cookie, but the little, colorful hippo was adorable. It's a great treat for kids of all ages. We also got a frozen banana covered in chocolate with sprinkles. My son didn't care for it, but I really enjoyed it. I appreciate that Dad's Donuts opens early, allowing visitors to sample their goodies. It felt like a classic mom-and-pop shop, and I could tell many are regulars, as the staff was on a first-name basis with some patrons. Dad's Donuts is definitely a gem on Balboa Island, and their delicious treats and charming, family-friendly atmosphere make it a must-visit.

When I searched on Google for ice cream near me- chocolate shoppe ice cream popped up then upon looking further I realized it was sold within duck donuts. Still ventured to try it Two guys working, one said he was new, and didn't know where all the flavors were / allowed us to try some b4 we ordered but was a pain bc the flavors were spread between two freezers in front of store and whatever was in the back. Placed an order for 3 double scoop cups (all they had) and took a really long time to make them having to figure out where the flavors were between the front and back of store. Then. They didn't have lids to cover them or a bag to put them in - so we literally covered each cup with another cup and put in a box I had from Costco in my trunk to get them home without dripping everywhere in my car. And I say dripping everywhere bc by the time he finished the last cup/. The others were melted from taking so long. They should probably just stick to donuts if they can't fully support the ice cream products. If I knew now/ I wouldn't have chosen to try there for ice cream. Very unfortunate, bc we probably would have loved the ice cream - but the experience clearly trumped the product.
